This record is the third release
of the label and the opening of a new series: Material Hotline. The opus is
consistent with the era of techno 90's wave that inspired certainly this
first record of the series. The four tracks that delivered the two artists
Multivoq and Solah are resolutely Trance. "The Devil Calls" open
the record on its Techno side followed by an acidic track "The Horror
Show". The other side makes its way between New Beat with "Last
Chance" and finally trance with "Deep Jungle" |

Odd Pleasures presents: Another
Phunky Story by Franco Motta. The first Vinyl-Only release of the iconic
Miami-based label brings a blend of minimal and house infused with jazzy
chords and glitchy atmospheres. Three original tracks made for different moments
of the night coexist through homogeneous sounds and arrangements. To close
the EP, the Argentinian legend Franco Cinelli delivered a trippy
re-interpretarion of the phunkiest track |

Curtis Electronix reaches its
10th drop presenting the second album from his owner and founder CEM3340,
MACCHINE. The double 12" draws together 8 new tracks all made and
recorded using only hardware. Spanning from pumped up machine-led cyber-funk
beats, to darting powerful techno out-kilters, but always maintaining a
stable focus on CEM3340 personal signature, it explores those ravines where
techno and electro collide. "MACCHINE" is pure dedication to the
machines. With no compromise |

Fundamentalist electro-techno! On
this release we see Detroit's Ultradyne continue with the approach of their
Ultradyne concept: ideas and their evolution. Four diverse songs showcasing
their concept into reality. Each song with an identity of its own cultivating
what already exists inside of each listener: the need for expression and
relation. The sinister synths of Prime Stratagem conform with what we know
from Ultradyne is guaranteed to be a floor banger. Complex and intricate
melodies are sprinkled in Native Serenade and True to the Realm before being
greeted with the fast paced and mechanical sounds that embodies the Ultradyne
concept with What must We do for Chaos. Nativist: a person who argues for the
existence of ideas that are not learned but are part of the original
constitution of the mind. This release captures a range of styles. Mixing and
distributing them in various proportions in the truest form of
experimentation |

Robbie Doherty's trajectory thus
far has been nothing less than remarkable. After shooting to fame in 2019
with hit single 'Pour The Milk', the only direction has been up, with the
Belfast producer taking his warm rave flavours as far as Australia and New
Zealand. For justification, look no further than his Shall Not Fade debut.
Sick 'n' Tired is so colourful you can visualise it, with deep swung house
rhythms, stripped-back emotional breakbeat and skippy garage house. Get stuck

A relatively new label based out
of Brooklyn, New York, their third release BKS-03 continues to build off of
the success of BKS-01 and BKS-02 and again enlists local NYC underground
heroes to fill out the Various Artist format, with interludes spread throughout.
The first track on the A-side enlists House Legend Eric Kupper, who
frequently collaborated with the late Frankie Knuckles and is responsible for
some of Knuckles' biggest hits, drops an absolute stormer of a track that
will get any party started. Track two sees Andrew Licata go deep and dreamy
with beautiful pads and great percussion perfect for an outdoor jam session
or deep in the afterhours. The B-side enlists BK Sway regulars DeWinter &
Emma for a dance floor filler that's bound to shake any massive sound system.
Track 2 sees After Touch and Jay Prouty get heady with deep jazzy vibes and a
trippy spoken word to complete the package. Label art from NYC mural legend
Cern aka Cernesto |

New reissue of the Stonewall
Noise Orchestra legendary album Constants In An Ever Changing Universe. It
was quite chaotic putting this album together. It's recorded in 5 different
locations. Rehearsal rooms, a living room, a super professional studio, high
and low really. I guess it was quite a challenge for Robert Ekholm to do the
mixing. It was also some personal challenges at the time which resulted in
John Hermansen doing the vocals. John is an incredible singer and an awesome
dude, we're very thankful he helped us keeping the band rolling. The album
was supposed to be released earlier than it was but due to all kinds of stuff
out of our control it took some time. In the middle of this chaos was the
music, the constant in an ever changing universe. It's an album we're proud
of and we still play many songs from it live |

Prior to tracking First Step
Beyond, Chicago proto-metal quintet Medusa headed three miles west to the
Village of Oak Park and cut their debut 7" at Stephen Wilcox's
Pepperhead custom studio. The resulting versions of 'Strangulation' and
'Temptress' are a touch further unhinged than their sororal album twins, as
phased-out scraps of psychedelia and bleeding solos maxed out Pepperhead's
8-track rig |

Formed in early stages of the
British punk explosion by four high school mates in Finchley, north London,
Eater quickly established themselves as one of the youngest and rawest bands
on the scene. Inspired by a line in the T Rex song, "Suneye," Eater
was influenced by the classier side of glam rock but was very much a
rapid-fire power-punk concern with their own output. Signing to Dave
Goodman's fledgling punk imprint, The Label, Eater issued three singles
before their greatly anticipated debut album, which has since been hailed as
an all-time classic: pointing their fingers at upper-class twits and taking
the piss out of themselves and their fans on "No Brains," the album
also features two Velvet Underground covers and an unusual David Bowie
adaptation, all delivered in no-holds-barred triple time. Poster included |

Valencian
producer Pepe's love of iridescent melodies, velvety pads and complex rhythms
has seen him skilfully combine house, bass music and breakbeat in recent
years. His music is globally reaching, having garnered attention from top
artists including Ben UFO, Peggy Gou, Shanti Celeste, Moxie, Mount Kimbie and
Disclosure. His heartfelt, mercurial and emotive sound is ever present on his
new album for Lapsus, which also incorporates a lush sonic forest,
resplendent in detail and jam packed with influences. The album 'Reclaim'
opens the door to experimentation and sound design, while embracing the
braindance and hyperpop sphere with surprising maturity. It is an
amalgamation of electronic sounds and pulsating structures in which
orchestral sounds, folk music, ambient textures and a strong vocal presence,
both synthetic and authentic, sparkle. 'Reclaim' imagines a post-human
future, where nature once again reclaims lost ground and is free to flourish
and take root around manmade structures. Pepe exhibits his personal reverence
for the work of Antonio Cortes Ferrando, the architect behind the Espai Verd
building, which broke architectural and urban planning norms by using
computation to create structures that promote the organic growth of foliage.
It is a building designed for the future, where flora cultivates
indefinitely. In Pepe's own words, "At a time when we have witnessed how
nature strives to regain ground, once humans are removed from the streets, it
is important to start thinking critically about new techniques in the
creation of art and design, and imagining a future where posterity is
embodied in the rejuvenation of a greener world" |

Metroplex
dont need an introduction, arguably worlds first and longest running Techno
label. OCb aka Driss Bennis is a new face at Metroplex. Since starting his
own label Casa Voyager in 2017, the Moroccan artist has gained a reputation
for being as versatile an A&R as a producer. Hie debuts his OCB project
on Metroplex with ,,The Sequel", an expansive five-tracker, covering a
wide range of musical territory from funk-infused breakbeats, fast-paced
electro bass, chilled downbeats to focused techno. The astral pads in the
opening track ,,THX (The Sequel)" give way to lush electro beats, a
funky bass line and warm chords before a vocoded voice exclaims ,,trans human
express". Despite its slightly menacing title, ,,Global Warning" has
the same ethereal star-gazing vibe, driven by breakbeats and accentuated by
dreamy piano chords. On the flip side, the fast-paced electro of ,,Syntax
Error" does its title justice with highly-processed fragments of a
robotic voice propel the track forward. ,,Translate" is classic Motor
City techno - Metroplex style. ,,The Sequel" rounds off with a short,
chilled downtempo track, that once again underscores Bennis' musicality.

Re-release
of the iconic 'Screen Series': Blue Screen. Limited Edition Picture Disc.
Remastered. 3rd EP of the legendary "Screen" series. This is
without a doubt the most personal of the whole series and the most
sentimental too. We had been thinking together about the evolution of the
series and since we had already made big hits with the previous editions, we
wanted to push things a little further without "worrying" about any
club success. So we chose to focus entirely on the musicality and the
emotions transmitted to the detriment of the purely club side of the tracks.
At least that's what we thought because in the end the two tracks were a huge
success and came back very often as the favorites of clubbers and DJs,
especially in after parties. It was a big surprise to see that some famous
techno DJs still play it at the end of their sets, which proves that it
doesn't matter when a track is released, as long as the emotion is there, it
will stay there forever. This EP demonstrated the versality that Mr. Sam
& Fred Baker had in the studio when they composed and collaborated
together. The magic worked every time like a miracle that repeated itself |

Four
years on from the release of Astral Projection, ASC's last LP for Horo, a
re-listen reveals a body of work that still sounds prescient and current,
mapping out a simmering landscape that stood proudly on it's own in the
crowded world of electronica. Hiding in Plain Sight takes the musical baton
left by Astral Projection and expands the environment. The two opening tracks
(No Mask, A Whisper In Your Ghost) are sumptuous palette cleansers that paint
the walls with bliss. As we continue on, mesmerising waves of melancholy wash
over Grey Area themed constructions, sometimes jagged (No Mask, Dying Star,
Centrifuge, Galaxies), other times propulsive (Dreadnought, Surface
Encounters). Pensive, frozen constructions that come off as soundtracks to
movies only James has seen pepper the LP (Overscan, Dying Star, Mirrored
Sequence) while the centrepiece of the LP soars unbound over stuttered,
sculpted breaks (Orbiting Neptune). ASC's great gift is his ability to create
worlds of music that are densely layered and complex and yet project a sense
of perfect effortlessness while they assimilate into your psyche. Hiding In
Plain Sight is not so much a journey, as a destination. A rich, full bodied
alien planet intricately designed to envelop your senses |

12" in Spatial Sleeve. Crisp beats open a serene, relaxing track in
Celestial Beings. Smooth synthwork fades in and the dreamy atmosphere builds
and smoothly carries the listener along for a blissful ride, which Aural
Imbalance fans will be well accustomed to. Washing in with a lush padwork
intro, light analogue breaks creep in gradually over a deep brooding
bassline, setting the tone for a delightful pad-laden journey through time
and space. Smooth glorious pads & light hi hats welcome exquisite
beatwork using the classic Circles break, a collage of delicate samples
lightly adding to the ambient tone of the track. Another treat for the ears
with Caladan Shores, Aural Imbalance conjuring serene atmospheric vibes with
graceful, elegant pads and synths complemented by that classic understated
808 bassline. Words by Chris Hayes (Spatial / Red Mist) |

Buh Records is proud to present a
new album by Peruvian composer and musician Miguel Flores. "Lorca: Lost
Tapes (1989-1991)" recovers recordings made for stage works inspired by
the life and work of the great Spanish playwright Federico García Lorca. It
is an atmospheric and minimalist album, where we find flamenco airs, Andean
and Afro-Peruvian sounds, vocal experimentation and various sound effects,
all stitched together in a simple but creative studio montage, which turns
these pieces into a dreamy landscape. "Lorca: Lost Tapes
(1989-1991)" is published for the first time, and in vinyl format, as
part of the Essential Sounds collection, with which Buh Records presents a
series of fundamental works of the Peruvian musical avant-garde |

Although Lightnin' Hopkins had
known regional success as a recording artist in the late forties and early
fifties, changing musical tastes soon left him without an audience. However,
it was not long before a whole new generation of fans-sparked by the blues
folk revival-were knocking on Hopkins' door once more. This time it was
musicologist Sam Charters who tracked Lightnin' down. Lured by a bottle of
gin, Hopkins took Charters back to his one room apartment in Houston and
recorded these ten songs (with Charters holding the sole microphone up to
Lightnin's guitar). The resulting album, released in 1959 on Folkways,
catapulted Hopkins for the very first time into the national spotlight where
he was soon being heralded across the country as a giant of the genre. Only

When first released in July of
2006, Greg Graffin-s Cold as The Clay may have seemed a world apart from his
punk rock roots as singer and founding member of Bad Religion. But the
classic American music that Graffin pays homage to here, in both carefully chosen
covers and in his own songwriting, forms the backbone of Bad Religion-s epic
tales of the young and the poor, mired by misery and poverty. Cold as the
Clay honors the traditional folk music that Graffin grew up listening to,
with original rock compositions that drew inspiration from the folk rock of
Gram Parsons and Neil Young, as well as traditional American Folk music. The
album was produced by Brett Gurewitz and features guest performances by
singer Jolie Holland and The Wearkerthans as backing musicians |

had released a self-titled debut and one of the greatest sophomore records of
all time with Paranoid, and their legacy was cemented within a year of
emerging from the factories of Birmingham. This powerful show - taken from
L'Olympia, Paris on the 20 of December - highlights the rock power/house that

Records taught us a lot about the many faces of acid throughout the 18 years
of its existence. The label has specialised in all substyles of the genre,
whether that's tracks inspired by early 80s proto acid, Chicago house,
braindance or the eerie melancholy of Polygon Window. Good thing is, they
haven't stopped getting better at it. Most 030 releases are now out of print
and severely sought after and, with so many instant classics featured on it,
this fifth compilation will be no exception. Caramel Chameleon kicks off with
an epic cut, one that will appeal to fans of Roy of the Ravers. Perseus
Traxx, Raving Kid and RAG aka Steven Brunsmann follow suit with acid on a
deeper tip, with the latter adding a heavenly soulful touch to it. And how
great it is to see American producer Korr? return to the label with a
wonderfully spaced out introspective cut. Also standing out is Endfest's
heavy electro/acid take on one of the most obscure mysteries ever to come out
of Detroit: Shari Vari. Dwaalgast and De Beer Uit Allekmaar aka Cosmic Force
deliver the last track before the lights go on - the aptly named A Wave
Goodbye has a distinctive, bouncy westcoast-sound-of-Holland feel to it. An
excellent compilation and a huge tip! |

Stunning
and gracious album by Mike Paradinas on Balmat. Some of his best work right
here for you! This is what the label has to tell about their collaboration
with Mike Paradinas; "When we established Balmat in 2021, neither of us
could have imagined that within two years, we'd be putting out an album by
one of our musical heroes: Mike Paradinas, aka U-Ziq. The British producer
has been an inspiration to label co-founders Albert Salinas and Philip
Sherburne since the 1990s. In fact, his album-length remix project The
Auteurs Vs U-Ziq was one of the very first pieces of electronic music that
Philip bought, way back in 1994. To have the opportunity to release his music
now feels like a real full-circle moment. Paradinas, of course, needs no
introduction. Under a slew of aliases, chief among them U-Ziq, the British
artist revolutionized leftfield electronic music in the
1990s--coincidentally, this year marks the 30th anniversary of his debut
album, Tango N' Vectif, for his friend and sometime collaborator Aphex Twin's
Rephlex label--and his label Planet Mu has built up a formidable catalog of
visionary, forward looking records, mapping virtually every corner of the
electronic spectrum. With 1977, he turns the clock backward in a sense, and
not just with the album's title: Rooted in classic ambient and electronic
sounds, these 15 tracks evoke the anything-goes spirit of the early '90s,
before the tools and tropes had calcified into cut-and-dried styles. There's
no shortage of familiar sounds on 1977. There are echoes of raves and
chillout rooms and transmissions from the fringes of techno; there are
detuned synths and glistening reverb tails and, above all, gauzy vox pads,
the eerie glue that holds it all together. The title, he says, is meant to
invoke a general sense of nostalgia, bookmarking a year in his boyhood when
he became more selfaware. More than anything, 1977 sounds like U-Ziq
distilled: Stripped of his signature breakbeats and customary chaos,
Paradinas' first-ever strictly (well, mostly) ambient album presents the
essence of his music in a whole new light. Along the way Paradinas touches on
dark-ambient drones ("Marmite"), horror-film themes ("Belt
& Carpet"), jungle breaks ("Mesolithic Jungle"), and even
house music ("Houzz 13"), which marks the first bona fide
dance-floor moment on Balmat to date). Yet the album never --to our ears,
anyway-- feels expressly retro. Rather, Paradinas plucks timeless sounds out
of the ether and gives them a gentle tap, spinning them into unexpected new
orbits. At times, 1977 feels like an experience of extended deja vu: When we
first listened to it, we had the sense that we already knew this music. It
was as though we had heard it years ago, perhaps on a battered cassette tape
lent to us by a friend, and been searching for it ever since. We hope you
feel the same!" |

Following his 2019 EP on BITE,
Adam X returns with As The Fear Shall Follow - 3 tracks representing a
continuation of his innovative productions. The New York City techno rave
pioneer needs little introduction by now. The record opens with the
eponymous, headier sci-fi, cerebral stomper and then journeys through old
school breakbeat rave stylings on ?Mystical Twist?. There he looks to some of
his earliest material from the 90s and transforms it into his own
contemporary and fresh signature, while ?On The Prowl?, moves into more
industrial territory |

Kickstarting the landmark year
for the label is the reissue of the 1999 classic Men From The Nile ft Peven
Everett Watch Them Come. Standing the test of time and a testament to its
dancefloor-ready grooves, Watch Them Come opens up the EP and still sounds as
fresh as ever. Men From The Nile is a collaboration between Roy Davis Jr. and
Jay Juniel, and for Watch Them Come they enlisted the legendary vocalist and
multi-instrumentalist Peven Everett to complete the tribal cut. For the
reissue, Men From The Nile are joined by some of the biggest names in dance
music. Green Velvet aka Cajmere has been a mainstay in the Chicago circuit
since the 90s, making a name for himself as a multifaceted artist as well as
label head at Cajual Records and Relief Records. Key players in the club
scene for over two decades, Boston duo Soul Clap launched Soul Clap Records
in 2012 and have since released more than 450 tracks on their imprint |

Reissue
from this Hard Trance classic from 1998, remastered for 2023 + Fergie remix.
12” Reissue of the Hard House legendary classic from 1998 with a new remix
from Fergie on the B side. Tony De Vit & Fergie met in the early 90s when
Fergie was DJing at age 14. Tony then went on to become Fergie's mentor and
they both rose to fame in the 90s by bringing hardcore/hard house and techno
into the mainstream. For 2023, the mentorship comes full circle, with Fergie
taking on remixing Tony De Vit's beloved track 'The Dawn', giving it fresh
modern Techno vibes. TDV unfortunately passed away in 1998, so this remix is
a real special heartfelt project that Fergie has created. The Dawn is easily
Tony’s most iconic track in not only Hard House but electronic music.
Originally was released in 1998 and featured on disc two of the Trade EP.
Elements of trance, house and techno can all be found in this historic track
that brings the listener on a mesmerising journey. Last year, Tony become the
first DJ in history to receive the illustrious honour of a Blue Plaque
Memorial. It’s located on the site of the Custard Factory recording studios
where Tony produced and remixed more than 100 tunes between 1994 and 1998 —
including 11 UK singles chart hits under his own name. It was an official
recognition of the cultural and social impact of '90s clubbing as spearheaded
and symbolised by DJs such as Tony de Vit, who did much to break down
barriers in society |

Two incredible 70's soul cuts
from The O'Jays get the reissue treatment for 2018. The A side contains the
mighty 'For The Love Of Money', a near 7 minute cautionary tale to the
dangers of greed and exploitation. "For the love of money. People will lie,
Lord, they will cheat. For the love of money. People don't care who they hurt
or beat." As pertinent now as it was in the 70's if not more so
considering current affairs. A much sampled record, loved by many! On the
flip 'Darlin' Darlin' Baby (Sweet, Tender, Love)', the second hit single off
the O'Jay's album 'Message In The Music', is a romantic soul serenade with
that killer Gamble and Huff production - Philly's finest! |

version on black vinyl. Belgian junk jazz trio schroothoop (which translates
as 'junk yard') bring together multi-instrumentalists Rik Staelens (wind
& string instruments), Timo Vantyghem (bass & thumb piano) and Margo
Maex (percussion). Their new album called 'MACADAM' will be out April 7 via
Sdban Records, home of many strongholds in the lively contemporary Belgian
jazz and groove scene. In 2020, schroothoop first emerged with their
much-acclaimed and infectious debut album Klein Gevaarlijk Afval (Small
Hazardous Waste). "Music on homemade instruments with a surprisingly
good result" (De Standaard). "Schroothoop show that material
limitation can be liberating and that sometimes the source of new sounds is
just old junk."(Written in music). "We assure you that this
"scrap heap" is worth gold!" (Le Grigri). On their second
album, to be released on April 7, schroothoop explore the vast sounds of
discarded objects found on the macadam streets of Brussels. Wooden crates
turn into guitars and lyres. Scrap metal becomes a thumb piano, a cimbalom,
or percussion bells. Their compelling collection of semi-improvised songs is
born out of several fruitful residencies and live performances during which
Margo Maex, Rik Staelens and Timo Vantyghem dive deeper into the
possibilities and unique timbres of their DIY instruments. The junk jazz trio
find inspiration in traditional Afro-Cuban and North-African rhythms, New
Orleans second line grooves, and Arabic Hijaz scales. On Macadam, the band
also explore the realms of electronic music, not shunning hints of drum and
bass, dub riddims and ambient soundscapes, using pitch shifting delays or
gauzy reverbs. The album delivers a mesmerizing trip through the most diverse
capital of Europe, mixed and post-produced by none other than sound wizard
Dijf Sanders. The trio originally met in the Brussels street orchestra scene.
One night they found themselves jamming on trash cans, buckets and other
illegally dumped materials. Soon after, they started building their own DIY
instruments from street trash. Imagine flutes made out of pvc pipes, a scrap
metal drum kit, thumb pianos made out of old kitchen knives, a tin can
violin, worn-out cutting discs as gongs, and a washtub bass. Delivering their
own brand of "junk jazz", Schroothoop literally gives junk a second
life by immortalizing a whole range of lost and found objects through music.
The Brussels-based group effortlessly incorporates jazz, Northern African
music, and Afro-Cuban rhythms, resulting in a danceable and hypnotic trip
through the city's melting pot |

edition on marbled vinyl. Elias Devoldere is the drummer in bands such as
Nordmann, Hypochristmutreefuzz, Suwi, Robbing Millions, and John Ghost.
Following an ep, Kaiku, released last summer, Bloomed > Exploded is his
debut full length as a solo artist. Besides writing and singing, he composed,
played, recorded, and produced the bulk of the ten songs himself. 'Everything
blooms', he explains the title of his first album. 'Until it explodes, and
something else is able to grow from it'. In this case, what came full cycle
is an intimate coming-of-age album of intangible atmospherics, crisp
melodies, and understated rhythmical patterns. BLOOMED >: 'As a kid, I
just wanted to play football, you know?', says Elias. 'But when I was eight
years old, my parents made me choose between drawing school and music
school'. And thus began a dedication to rhythm for Elias. At 18, he enrolled
at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in his hometown of Ghent, opting for a jazz
education. 'Not because I aspired to become a master 'jazz drummer', but to
learn music, to become a good musician'. It was at the academy that, after an
impromptu jam session, Nordmann first came together. The exhilarating
instrumental quartet went on to win second place at the prestigious Humo's
Rock Rally in 2014, and released three albums to critical acclaim, with a new
one in the works. Devoldere, in the meantime, had completed his degree with a
craving - ironically - for music. 'I was in over my head with jazz for such a
long time, and went on an epic discovering spree. Moses Sumney, James Blake,
Kendrick Lamar, Connan Mockasin... Lots of stuff I had missed over the years.
In a way, I reconnected with the kind of music I was into before jazz
dominated my life. Pink Floyd was my first love, for instance, and later
Radiohead proved to be a game changer. Diving back into those kind of sounds,
I was feeling the urge to follow my old dreams, of being a solo artist - or
something more than 'just' a drummer, anyway. So I bought a guitar, an
interface for my laptop, and started writing'. EXPLODED: When he released his
5 track ep Kaiku in the summer of 2021, it summarised a lot of firsts for
Elias. First time writing lyrics, first time as a lead vocalist, first time
recording his own songs all by himself. The songs had been around for a
while, but taking those leaps took a long time. 'Making the ep helped me to
find my voice, in every way possible'. Still, in the aftermath of the
pandemic, the songs on Bloomed > Exploded sprouted in a time of upheaval.
'Musically the album is quite serene, gentle even. But the themes speak of
internal unrest and uncertainty. There are a lot of questions on the album,
as it turned out. Duality, as the title suggests, coming from the struggle
between a wish to turn everything upside down and a search for peace.
Honestly: the prospect of my 30th birthday was messing with my head too'.
Recording during a period of solitude in France, Elias initially relied
heavily on synthesizers and drum machines. 'Explode / Boalis was one of the
first songs I wrote for this album, and pivotal for its atmosphere, based
mostly on electronic elements. Later, I did use 'real' drums on most of the
other songs, though, and contributions from other musicians, but the overall
mood is very cohesive'. 'Pure', that's how Bruno Ellingham, the UK engineer
who mixed the album, described it. Much to the delight of Elias, who reached
out to Ellingham because of his previous work with bands such as Massive
Attack and Portishead. 'Hearing the end result, I thought he really captured
the essence of the original demo's. For me, that adds to this album being a
sincere reflection of my true self. 'Take a dive/ Into the place where it's
more quiet', as I sing in the last song, that kind of sums it up for me' |

Originally recorded at Channel
One UK around 1990, the master tape was accidentally wiped and lost. The full
riddim was rebuilt from the original drums at Seventh Sense Studio, and has
now been updated at Earth Works Amsterdam with additional instruments
including a great brass section. In
late 2020 Tena Stelling stapped back up to the microphone and re-voiced this
lost classic. Jah Works is delighted to present the resulting fresh-vintage
anthem, that remains as relevant as it was when it was first voiced 30 years
ago, if not more so |

Death
Is Not The End's 333 sub-label follows the reissue of Devon Russell's Darker
Than Blue LP late last year with a first-time reissue of a veritable
reggae-dancehall holy grail - Robert Ffrench's 1985 LP 'Wondering'.
Pioneering artist and producer (and cousin of the late, great Pat Kelly)
Robert Ffrench was born in central Kingston in 1962, recording his first
records in 1979 at the age of 17. Coming out off the back of a slew of roots
& early dancehall-style 45s cut with a wide range of producers thoughout
the early '80s, the Wondering LP followed closely after two acclaimed LP sets
('Showcase' produced with Lord Koos & 'The Favourite' for Ossie Thomas'
Black Solidarity label - plus a split showcase LP with Anthony
"Gunshot" Johnson for Jah Thomas' Midnight Rock label). Ffrench
would write and produce the Wondering LP himself in it's entirity, laying
down the tracks at Herman Chin-Loy's Aquarius & Michael Carroll's
Creative Sounds studios with the help of engineer Christopher Daley.
Representing the sound of an artist first confidently sriking out on his own,
the album elegantly mixes a classic rub-a-dub & lovers rock-inspired
sound with nascent digi-esque flourishes. It boasts an enviable list of
contributors too, incl. Sly & Robbie, Dwight Pinkney, Robbie Lyn, Nelson
Miller (Burning Spear) and Ronald "Nambo" Robinson among others,
with Beres Hammond also providing backing vocals in places. Following the
release of Wondering, Ffrench would continue to write and produce, soon after
releasing two further self-produced LPs for Edgar White's Parish label - and
founded his own 'France' label in the late 80s, through which his productions
would start to hit big, most notably alongside Courtney Melody on 'Modern
Girl', and with US rapper Heavy D on the track 'More Love'. Robert's
productions released through later label 'Ffrench' would go on to boast the
cream of the crop of dancehall artists throughout the 90s and early 2000s,
and he is often credited with discovering Buju Banton (producing his first
single "Ruler" on the Stamina riddim). Ffrench is still actively
producing music of his own to this day, having released singles 'Everyday of
My Life' and 'Black Is a Colour' in late 2022 and Feb 2023 respectively,
available through all digital platforms now. 333, under exclusive license

Dimensions
Recordings are very proud to present 'Decision Time', the first major solo
album from the legendary Charles Webster in two decades. Operating in house
music since the mid '80s, Charles Webster is revered as something like the
producer's producer, spoken about in the same breath as Larry Heard or Ron
Trent amongst the DJ cognoscenti. Growing up in the Peak District and falling
in love with electronic music through a parent's Kraftwerk record, Charles'
apprenticeship was with Juan Atkins and Kevin Saunderson, back when they'd
record at Square Dance studio in Nottingham, where Charles worked as a
recording engineer. His production work started right at the roots of
electronic music in the British Isles, writing tracks for electro/breakdance
outfit The Rock City Crew and 1987 UK house cut T-CUT-F. Since then he's
released music under 30 different pseudonyms with over 500 remixes. 'Decision
Time' is Charles' first major solo record since 2001's 'Born On The 24th
July', and features an array of artists from a number of different eras,
guises and genres Charles has been involved with over his prolific career.
After moving to San Francisco in the late nineties, he created an album under
the alias Presence entitled 'All Systems Gone'. The "pillowy" sound
design of this classic is cited as a key influence on the music of Burial.
For 'Decision Time', Burial has paid a further tribute here, contributing a
rare co-production, 'The Second Spell'. This track featuring the words of
Prince muse Ingrid Chavez. who also wrote the spoken word poetry in Madonna's
'Justify My Love'. Charles was at the forefront of the halcyon years of deep
house, working with vocal talents like Robert Owens, Tracey Thorn, Terra Deva
(aka Furry Freaks), who features here on 'Wait And See', and Shara Nelson,
perhaps best known for her vocals on Massive Attack's 'Blue Lines' album,
featuring here on 'This Is Real'. Charles' influence also spreads to the
South African house scene with his Presence single 'Better Day' becoming a
huge radio hit there in 1997. Charles later moved to South Africa and
immersed himself in the local scene, collaborating with some of the country's
most exciting talent, including Sio, Thandi Draai and Sipho – all of whom
appear on this project. With an album of this quality and the 20-year cycles
of electronic culture, it feels like this is the perfect moment to celebrate
the brilliance of Charles Webster's legacy. From the downtempo soul of 'This
Is Real', to the impressionistic words and ethereal two-step on 'The Spell',
a new generation of ears are about to discover the influential underground
sound of Charles Webster. "As if Everything But The Girl, Larry Heard
and Womack & Womack decided to merge musical ideas in the studio…"

Teste returns with The Box Man, a
five-track EP that marks their first release of original material in 25
years. Formed during the early nineties in Hamilton, Ontario, they put out
only three official records between 1992-1993 on Probe Records, most notably
?The Wipe,? which is regarded as a genre defining classic, while the
follow-up ?Regions? also served as a template for the ensuing sonics of
contemporary techno. With only a handful of live actions, the final chaotic
show (public disturbance) occurred for Pure in Glasgow 1994. Afterwards, the
original Teste lineup of juvenile delinquents disbanded but unwittingly ended
up defining the hypnotic and drugged out strains of today?s afterhours techno
parties. The project vanished for decades until reactivating the chaos in
2014, promoting a slew of remixes ?The Rewipes,? by artists such as Rrose and
Terence Fixmer, on the Edit Select imprint |

Luke
Slater and Ashley Burchett return as Roog Unit for new EP on Mote-Evolver.
Following a string of collaborative EPs throughout the years, Mote-Evolver
boss Luke Slater and Ashley Burchett (Ø [Phase]) return under Roog Unit to
Slater's imprint, delivering another set of mind-bending, boundary-pushing
techno tracks tried and tested in their back to back sets under the alias.
Leading the release, 'Bash Box' brings a high-energy stomper peppered with
menacing kicks and siren-esque leads, coming in at a blistering 156bpm.
'Don't Let Go' follows with tripped-out vocals and tweaked basslines making
for a heads-down cut. On the flip, 'Koox' sees the duo reach for wonky,
twinkling synths atop a fierce sizzling drum hook. 'Sanity Regard' takes the
B2 spot, rounding out another stellar EP from two of techno's most revered
talents. The releases arrives as part of Mote-Evolver's new series of
in-person artist collaborations, with each EP capturing the creative moment
as it happens, with results aimed squarely at the dance floor. Each release
has artwork combining one item from each artist, which means something to
them, into one new image |

Inaugurating their first ever
vinyl release, KEY Vinyl welcomes young Argentinian duo Translate &
Pulso. Mischievous, sci-fi oriented, yet groovy and grounding sounds. And so
it goes: "Ocular Optics" initiates the tour by offering a more laid-back,
tooly cadence. Common thread between all tracks, A1 introduces a bleepy arp
sequence adding dimension to the strong percussive elements. A punchy kick
drum and snippets of a vocal top the whole off- one for layering.
"Global Agreement" slightly changes the emotional gear to a more
sinister, obscure energy. Powerful low frequencies merge with fluent pads and
mysterious bleeps creating a very special ambience- tip. Proceeding on the B
side, "Nodes 2962" definitely makes an impression... A macabre
soundtrack shadowing the night deeds of Krueger... Lastly, "Backup
Quest" extends the eerie atmosphere which is glued beneath rich,
atmospheric textures. Definitely a pick for the dance floors ! |

Scotland's
hardest of the hardcore Clouds make a surprise return to Perc Trax with
Clubmatter, their first appearance on the label since they remixed Perc's
'Dumpster' back in 2014 with Perc returning the favour to remix Clouds' Dread
Networks' on Perc Trax in the same year. Since then they have been busy
performing across the globe, collaborating with Randomer on their
uncompromising Headstrong project, founding their own Maxiboy imprint and
pairing up with Speedy J for a release on his Stoor label. Across these four
tracks Clouds find a perfect balance between rave energy and sleek techno
futurism. The rave sounds we all know well are there, but this isn't the same
old vocal samples, hoovers and breakbeats we've heard a million times.
Instead Cloud resynthesise the spirit of rave and hardcore, fuse it with
their techno background and deliver something fresh and new but still fitting
into the lineage of hardcore that goes back to the 1990's. As ever with a
Clouds release the visual side is as sharp as the music and the Raf Rennie
designed sleeve of Clubmatter keeps this tradition going with a sharp
monochrome interpretation of Cloud's musical vision |
