Following the Lisbon producer's
last SNF release - a worldbuilding album that paid tribute to video game
aesthetics - Pure Movements EP proves yet again his versatility. Whilst
Henosis LP dabbled in ambient, his latest sees this direction take full form.
Contemplative ambience invites us to melt into it, with reverb-drenched acid
melodies adding enough unease to keep us on our toes. Add in some deep,
off-kilter bass throbs and this one is a real treat to the ears. Lock in and
drift away |

French
label and promoter Much More recordings is proud to present the first vinyl
our collection. This vinyl features 6 tracks ranging from breaks to techno
and passing by acid and electronica, designed for soundsystem and anchored in
their proper original and analogic techno sound. We believe that redefining
the essence of the genre is now critical. After years of promoting parties in
Paris and Europe, Much More has gathered artists considered to be the essence
of techno. Artists who know how to turn knobs without screens. They continue
to make the mob sweat on the dance-floor, with a simple at first yet
efficient recipe that holds a myriad of subtleties. On our table lies a lemon
slowly withering away, a fruit that once was as much suave than sour. Our
artists are as ripe as this yellow sphere lying in the open. They possess the
experience and knowledge needed to forcefully broadcast this emergency
rebirth that techno desperately needs. Our creations are neither nostalgic
nor futuristic, they aim to be atemporal. They are naked to artifices, raw to
over-tuning, built and cut upon the very ageless tools that defined and will
name what is Techno. Far from us the desire of claiming to be the only
definition of the genre, nor forgetting about its primal cravings. Whereas
Amarou, Skudge and Sawlin showcast the narrative scope of our passion, Wrong
Assessment, Arnaud le Texier and Falling Echoes will remind us what is raving
under the strobe's fire. It's music from urban centers and countrysides, for
big room and inner space. It's music without tag or time, where every loop
stops and unfolds on its own. We are back to the essence, and yet, much more |

Written and produced by Richard
Misseijer and Jos Soethout (RIP) the two original songs were performed by the
Dutch disco trio Sweetness. Released in 1982 is the perfect embodiment of
timeless soul-boogie, quickly becoming essential for Radio and the finest DJs
and later one of the genre's rarest records. The producing duo was
prominently featured on the cult imprint Rams Horn, set up as a fellow US
importer of outputs such as Brunswick and Prelude. The official reissue
remastered from the original source comes courtesy of Richard Misseijer
himself on the baby bird Emilian-Neapolitan label Baba Records |

Counting from one to ten is one
of the first things we learn when we try to speak a new language. It's also a
universal language we use in our beats. Numbers are the inspiration source of
this album, and its roots are in the inherent rhythmical existence of numbers
in music. There is a numerical theme in all the tracks. Every number matches
with different grooves and rhythms, and it all comes together around a single
"groove pallet".

2023
repress in original sleeve / pressed on snowy white vinyl - Dutch electronic
music trio, Noisia, have announced the release of their long awaited new
album, 'Outer Edges' on their own label, Vision. The 18 track album is their
first in six years, and the band's second in total. With a peerless
reputation and countless awards under their belts, Noisia have transcended
their genre and grown into a phenomenon in their own right. Drum & Bass
is at the core of Noisia's sound, but Nik, Martijn, and Thijs's visceral
brand has always ventured further. "It's called Outer Edges because it's
us exploring the outer edges of what Noisia, the three of us together, is.
It's about the idea that all the songs are little islands that we take to
their individual edge... They're all like expeditions to far sides. That
doesn't mean that it's everything; it's just that every song, if it goes in a
certain direction, we've taken it all the way there. There's no real
concessions, we haven't been super DJ- or radio-friendly at all and we've
done no collaborations or hardly any vocals on the album." - Noisia |

London punk pioneers the Wasps were part of the first wave of punk acts that
exploded in early 1976. After extensive touring across the UK, debut single
'Teenage Treats' was championed by John Peel and follow-up 'Can't Wait Till
'78' was also well-received: singing to RCA in 1979, 'Rubber Cars' made an
instant impact before being canned by the label, shortly before the band's
fatal rupture. This must-have compilation gathers those great 45s with
previously unreleased demos, this edition complete with a demo of 'Stranger
Love' and the Live At The Vortex take of 'Waiting For My Man'. A must for all
true punk lovers! Translucent Blue Vinyl |

in full color tip on sleeve, limited to 300 copies.KAU's third EP for the
first time on vinyl for Record Store Day '23. KAU is an instrumental project
based in Brussels consisting of André Breidlid (drums), Matteo Genovese
(bass) & Jan Janzen (keys). Representing various European backgrounds,
their coming-together is in the spirit of the city they grew up in. Taking
inspiration from jazz, they create a head-bobbing atmosphere using bassy
beats and catchy melodies. By implementing acoustic instruments, the trio
stays true to an organic and rich sound, granting themselves the liberty for
improvisation & spontaneous happenings. Influenced by artists like
BADBADNOTGOOD & Christian Scott, their music is contemporary, powerful,
and audacious. The EP "III" is the collaboration between the three
core members of the band and Maxime Dereux, talented French saxophonist
already guested on "II". Having built strong musical ties over the
course of the last years, the idea to make more music together arose
naturally without a shadow of a doubt. The result is a 4 track EP with a high
concentration of powerful riffs and sharp themes. The title song 'Mad Max'
perfectly represents madness incarnated. On "Moonwalker" they go to
new places with ever-changing melodies and sax lines. 4 minutes of holding on
to your seat in anticipation of the next measure. This EP also features
Brussels born and bred rapper "Jay MNG" who has made a name for
himself around many concert halls & festivals in Belgium. Having
collaborated notably with Commander Spoon and Kuna Maze, the polylinguistic
rhymes of Jay MNG left a mark on this emerging music scene. Enraged, banging
in whatever language that may be, Dutch, French or English, he manages to
make a massive impact on the atmosphere of the tracks and add his own flavour |

Pablo Bozzi is a Berlin-based
French producer also known under the alias of Lapse of Reason and as ? of
projects like Soft Crash, Infravision and Imperial Black Unit. Bozzi, who has
been long recognized for his ability to omit electronic music conventions
with remarkable ease, returns to BITE with his second solo EP on the imprint.
BITE020 serves as a further exploration of his signature Italo Body Music
style. In the best traditions of so-called Bozzi Music, the EP is a stylistic
hybrid rich with nostalgic synth lines, electro and new beat influences,
while this time leaning even more into the hard-hitting EBM territory. All
while staying true Bozzi?s playful and euphoric spirit, which resonates with
so many dancefloor enthusiasts |

Halv Drøm is the
EBM/techno/punk/esoteric project of Berlin-based Australian DJ, producer and
Fleisch Records co-founder, Saxon Jörgensen. Halv Drøm’s approach to creating
music is deeply rooted in ideas of political upheaval and possibilities of
spiritual healing through raw and confrontational sounds. Halv Drøm’s debut
appearance on BITE is an intense 5 track EP that alternates between
trance-inducing esoteric polyrhythms, high-impact body music and gloomy
techno, and results in a dark trip-like musical experience, where modern
electronics and ancient rhythmic structures perform a ritual of harsh
healing. The EP is supported with remixes by BITE regulars – Unhuman and
Human Performance Lab. Artwork by Florian Engerling Design by Eloise Leigh
Mixed by Gianmaria Dell’Aera and Manos Simotas Mastered by Gianmaria

generic sleeve repress - Chlar delivers his debut record for SHDW &
Obscure Shapes' Mutual Rytm imprint. Emerging as artist of note for both now
and the future, Chlar continues to craft and shape his sound as he curates
his own high-octane approach to techno. Combining dynamic performances taking
in three and four deck mixes with his own up front productions and his
talents as a former mastering engineer, the Swiss talent has become a
respected name amongst his peers. After releases on Lobster Theremin and his
own Bipolar Disorder imprint, the Berlin-based DJ, producer and label boss
heads to SHDW & Obscure Shape's blooming label Mutual Rytm to deliver six
precise and powerful cuts across his 'Optimized Groove' EP. "As the
names states, 'Optimized grooves' is a collection of tracks designed to match
specific parts of the event/night. From 'Night Genesis' at the origin of the
night through to tracks like 'Maximum Performance', a peak time bomb, and
'Spirit Enhancer' - an uplifting and warm production elevating individuals to
higher labels after hours of spiritual connection'" - Chlar. Opener
'Early Morning Acceleration' sets the tone early and dives into a looping
ride through slinking hats and bustling arrangements - combining classic
influences with forward thinking touches to reveal a dynamic slice of techno.
Next, 'Maximum Performance' fuses swelling low-ends, sharp percussion and
vibrant leads, while 'Love Blaster' delivers an all out fiesta armed with
rolling drums, sharp whistles and rich chords. On the flip, B1 'Night
Genesis' sees hypnotic loopy vocals balanced by tough kicks and luminous
synths, before 'Spirit Enhancer' showcases a soulful trip as resonant
electronics work around the track's tunnelling groove. The digital EP comes
with a bonus exclusive production in 'Synaptic Discussion', a euphoric and
impactful closer which brings things to a close firmly in the peak time hours |

generic sleeve repress - Chontane delivers six dynamic techno cuts via his
'Sycamore' EP on Mutual Rytm. A firm fixture of the VOLTAGE roster and a
rising name originating from Ukraine making an impact, Berlin-based DJ and
producer Chontane is quickly finding his feet following a string of EPs via
ARTS, Lobster Theremin and Rekids Special Projects. Already playing key clubs
at the age of just 18, blurring the lines between techno, breaks and electro
with his growing trademark sound, his performances across Berlin and beyond
have captured the attention of many as he showcases his up-front and powerful
sound. Next, he heads to SHDW & Obscure Shape's Mutual Rytm imprint for
the first time as he reveals his six-track 'Sycamore' EP. Lead cut 'Preserved'
is a rugged yet soulful opener, settling into a rolling groove guided by
crisp hats and sharp stabs, while 'Arakis' propels into more eerie and
menacing spheres as waling vocals emerge and disappear into the track's
relentless dynamic. Opening the B-side, 'Sitka' fuses jacking drums with
playful flute interludes for a production set to get dancefloors moving,
while 'Laboe' keeps things fiery as a peppy track which launches into fiesta
mode. Closing the flip side, B3 'After Images' reveals the most emotive
production on the package, balancing the hard-hitting kicks with soulful
vocals and hazy melodies for a classy slice of techno. Once again, digital
purchasers are treated to an exclusive bonus with 'In Roots' raising the
temperature and jumping right back into the action to serve up another
energising anthem from a label and artist on the rise |

Known
for its groundbreaking techno releases, Infrastructure New York, is
relaunched! Celebrating 27 years of Function releases this year and the
label's 25th anniversary, the label will serve as an outlet for his new
material, reissues of out-of-print classics from Synewave, Sandwell District
and Ostgut Ton (and of course, Infrastructure), as well as developing new
artists. As a member of the Sandwell District collective, David Sumner aka
Function, from 2007 onward was instrumental in cultivating and ushering in a
new sound of dark, cerebral hypnotica - forcing the hand of change in global
techno. Green EP serves as a testament to this, further exploring these
depths. The EP pays homage to the day when David arrived in Berlin with his
green suitcase where his record "Isolation" on Sandwell District
was released, hitting the ground running and springboarding into an
incredibly successful career, becoming a stalwart DJ/producer, after years as
a struggling artist. Green EP encapsulates the same raw power and hypnotic
energy of his genre-defining Sandwell District releases Isolation,
Anticipation and Variance, updated with a modern flair. Subject f (Function)
has clearly transcended, as expressed through the opening track
"Initiation" arriving at his "New Designation". On the
b-side Function communicates his divine alignment through the broken beat,
etheric "Aeternum (Meridian)". Finally, Function closes Green EP
with a live extraction of "Desire and Memory", a brooding club
stormer in contrast to the more experimental leanings of the original
version, which appeared on Rrose's label Eaux. One thing is clear: Function
is back on track and more on form than ever! |

Returning
to Token with his second solo contribution for the label, Ignez invites us
back into his sonic world with his new chapter 'Aventurine'. Providing yet
again a record with novel texture and spatial work, Ignez guides us through a
4 track project orchestrated with intent and skill. 'Aventurine' introduces
the EP assertively with his unmistakably cinematographic approach. The
title-track proves to be of considerable dimension, a precise and impactful
percussion-line cuts through distant atmospheres, rendered all the more
dramatic with the presence of a cello. Ignez then takes down the narrative
tone a notch to make space for the A2 'Seraphic', narrowing his focus and
stripping down the record. Giving the track time to sink in an expertly
crafted tension, it isn't until halfway through that the main attraction is
revealed. Reverse, spiraling stabs dot along a persistently imposing rhythm
to make 'Seraphic' very representative of a style that Ignez has claimed over
the past few years. Whipping outward with white noise to accentuate the
listener's notion of space, we arrive finally to the second half of
'Aventurine'. A perfect follow-up to the last cut awaits under the name
'Verdant'. Dry percussion and string-like stabs, this time sharper and more
metallic, make for a record where timing is the driving force. More mute than
the previous tracks, 'Verdant' makes a perfect dip into the final element of
the EP - 'Cure'. Back into a more harmonic style, Ignez uses vocals and
background synth work to create tonality before throwing in the ear-candy.
Spacing out elements to conclude the EP in a meditative fashion, Ignez once
again strikes a balance between technical knowhow and acute storytelling.

track full album LP by Fashion Flesh aka John Talaga from Bay City, Michigan.
He is known for his "off the grid" approach to music and has solo
releases on great underground labels such as Unknown Precept, Jacktone and
Fit/Est. 83' Records. Most all of the instruments used to perform and produce
are self-built electronics, oscillators, generators, sound toys, and
modulators. Those that are not built from one's own design are heavily
modified beyond audible recognition or return. No sampling/stolen sound is
ever used or sucked from outside pre-existing sources. No laptops, instead
tape manipulation and hard copy cut-ups...analog devices that are built for
specific purpose and dis-purpose. Rubber Mountain is his first full LP, 6
tracks of mutant mayhem on The Black Lodge label, spanning from odd
italo-disco flavors, to no-wave, post-punk, jakbeat, and experimental sounds
from the beyond. Equally for the dancefloor and home listening, this record
has it all. Also a visual artist, this release is housed in a full color
double-sided jacket with art he created himself |

Le
Motel and Bruce Wijn met at school, during a school art trip to Munich. They
went separate ways for a long time. Hailing from Brussels, Le Motel's world
is a vortex of sight and sound that takes in the many and varied corners of
the planet. As a music producer and film composer his versatility has taken
him to festivals and clubs in every direction as naturally as he has ventured
out to the less accessible areas of the globe as a field recordist. It's
somewhere in between these spaces that Le Motel operates, gathering unique
experiences and sounds to channelthrough his studio. Bruce Wijn is a
Brussels-based guitarist who played in several postrock kind projects such as
Sound Film, 52 Commercial Road, or more shoegaze Lazy Sin. These
collaborations gave him the opportunity to perform in various locations in
Belgium, France, England, and the USA. As a musician, his focus has always
been attracted by progressively built rhythmic melodies, which would
eventually turn into long reverberated or distorted swells, or the otherway
round. All these experiences brought them both to the idea of scoring movies
with different yet similar approaches. That's how their first collaboration
happened as Le Motel was working on the soundtrack of the movie Binti, and invited
Bruce Wijn for the track Exode, in 2018. Since then, they've been working on
other scoring projects, such as the feature film 'Aller Retour' more
recently. Alongside the movie scoring activities another audiovisual live
project was born, in collaboration with Antoine de Schuyter and his
mesmerizing images. This one is more focusing on tape textures, field
recordings and glitchy effects in order to build atmospheric tracks that they
decided to bring together in a first E.P. 'MAAR'. 'MAAR' is elaborated as a
soundtrack for an imaginary journey between cold seas and volcanoes
explorations. From the first echoing sounds of playing kids on the shoreside
in the opening track 'La Perche' Le Motel & Bruce Wijn let you slide in a
technicolor dreamworld, reverbing slowly innocent childhood memories into a
chilled, out of range, future. 'MAAR' dives deep into a kaleidoscopic
microcosmos watching Nautilus playing hide and seek with 'Captain Ahab'
floating on sonic breaking waves, while seagulls gently spread their wings
flying through the breezy and misty clouds of Blankenberge. Lava vulcanica
slowly melts in the sad euphorica of the cold North Sea, crystallizing sounds
only Le Motel and Bruce Wijn can deliver. File under: Waterproof & heat
resistant vintage seventies reel to reel tape wizardry. Infused with
technicolor electronics for a bright careless sonic future |

It
is no longer a secret that Lady Linn has a very rich and unique voice with a
versatility that is second to none, ensuring that she is right at home in a
myriad of styles. She proved exactly that in her new 'trilogy', a series of
three E.P.'s - 'I'm Fine', 'Sea of Trees' & 'Nocturne'- each one telling
its own unique story, and now bundled on the album 'Trilogy'. The common
thread throughout the album is her affinity with jazz, soul and dance, but
also lyrically, various themes return: the tenderness within family life,
melancholy, nature, and the magic of the dance floor. There is also a clear
evolution with the arrangements going from a sober, stripped-down
quasi-electronic sound of the JX-03 on 'I'm fine' (with contributions from
Gustaph, Gregory Frateur and producer Frederik Segers) to dreamy and warm
analog synths by producer Joris Caluwaerts on 'Sea of Trees', to an organic,
energetic sixties sound on 'Nocturne' with starring role for her partner and
bass player Filip Vandebril and partners in crime: The Magnificent Seven,
arranger Frederik Heirman and producer Jan Chantrain. In addition to a
selection of the three EPs, 'Trilogy' also includes the extra song
'Hurricane', one of Linn's personal favorites, recorded at Daft Studios with
The Magnificent Seven: 'I had just watched a documentary on Laurel Canyon (on
the topic of Los Angeles - the epicentre of the 'counter culture' or better
'hippie culture' - in the late 60's and early 70's and the habitat of The
Mamas and the Papas, Frank Zappa, Jim Morrison, etc.) which fed my
fascination for the 60's that I already had thanks to my parents. The way in
which music was created and recorded in that era is a dream for every
musician, me included. With the surplus in time due to the lack of gigs
during the pandemic the time was right to follow my dream and record in the
Daft Studios with my own band. I felt a bit like Carol King behind my piano,
but I was also inspired by Joni Mitchell.' A quote from the lyrics of
'Hurricane': 'I wanna feel the wind like the birds outside/Dive like a
seagull, enter the water from flight/Into the deep I slide'. 'A very personal
song about losing yourself and the longing for freedom. I composed this one
specifically with 60's songs in mind, with loads of modulations and pretty
complex chords.' Lady Linn wrote a versatile trilogy, inspired by a diverse
set of influences that had her digging in music history in a very original
and contemporary way. She also made her mark on the sound of the productions.
On both 'I'm Fine' and 'Nocturne' she was co-producer |

Internationally known DJ-producer
Guy J has made it his mission to uplift his musical game with every one of
his releases. J is an exceptional artist, aiming for excellence, and his
latest Lost & Found release is a thoughtful perpetuation of his genuine
artistic mission. The two-track material includes State of Trance and
Anonymous. Both tracks deliver a fresh take on musical hypnotism and
arpeggio-based melodies but retain individual characters. The opening track,
State of Trance, floats on an elegant drum structure and uplifting vibes,
while the closing piece, Anonymous, delivers a darker flavor with a pinch of
psychedelia. The production through the release is impeccable, taking the
genre to uncharted waters and breaking new grounds with innovative audio
engineering and arranging. The release is proof of intellectual and spiritual
enlightenment and makes the genre far more exciting |

Since
the release of the highly acclaimed album Mamari (2021), the Muito Kaballa
project has continued to develop. The new album Little Child (2022) starts
with a cracker called Inside Outside. The song addresses the hypocrisy and
double standards of the European Union when it comes to refugee policy. The
group works together with the renowned German/Nigerian musician Ade Bantu and
the Angolan guitarist Juresse Amie Tieti Ndombasi and picks up their
listeners where they were parked with Mamari. Fat grooves with clearly
recognizable Afrobeat influences. However, the musical journey leads step by
step away from the usual sounds of the band. Already the second track Dansez!
Dansez! shows that. The sound leads to Angola, Congo and a bit of Mali. The
band stacks so many rhythms on top of each other that the word poly appears
in a whole new light. It becomes clear that the nine deal intensively with
the music that is the source of their inspiration. The gifted guitarist
Juresse Amie Tieti Ndombasi puts the icing on the cake with his sound. Let's
continue with No = No. Here at last it becomes clear: Muito Kaballa has
escaped from his drawer and is now in free flight, somewhere between jazz,
fusion, afrobeat and whatever. But who cares? The sound is convincing, the
feet shake to the beat and cannot be calmed down even with great effort and
the message "Don't protect your daughter, educate your son" can't
be said often enough. The next song, Memories, reveals completely different
sides of the band. While the sound is suddenly much more relaxed and, let's
call it jazzy, the lyrics also become much more intimate and poetic.
"Keep in mind, it makes you blind, starring in the sun". We don't
find out what memories Niklas Mündemann, composer of the song, has in mind
here but that shouldn't bother us. We just put on our sunglasses and let
ourselves be carried away by the almost epic track, which with its ten
minutes of playing time leaves nothing to be desired in terms of diversity.
Sophisticated listeners will wonder if Niklas Mündemann listened to a bit of
Kamasi Washington while composing. Maybe even a lot? Be that as it may - a
special treat in the piece: the trombonist Saskia-Marleen Dahms, who makes a
guest appearance on this song, rounds off the sound of the brass section
again. Last but not least, we come to the namesake of the album: the song
Little Child builds on the mood of the previous track and rounds off the
musical odyssey with a good portion of goosebumps. But the song doesn't just
leave its mark on the surface, no, it also gets under your skin. While the
melody has considerable catchy tune potential, it is above all the lyrics and
the message that grab you here. Niklas Mündemann wrote the song during a
phase of mental depression. Above all, psychotherapy helped him to think more
positively again and to comfort his own inner child. We've all heard about
that child in us. But when was the last time we hugged it? The song Little
Child is the perfect accompaniment for this, because when you hear it, you
immediately feel hugged, pressed and safe. Another highlight are the
incredibly beautiful solos, played by Benjamin Schneider on guitar and
Saskia-Marleen Dahms on trombone. That's the end of the album and, to be
perfectly honest, you don't feel left out in the rain, but you do feel left
out in a (warm) shower. Time flies when you hear Muito Kaballa's new album
and in the end you want more. 4 remixes for the dancefloor are delivered by
French producer Kuna Maze, Polish/Angolan duo Lua Preta, French producer La
Dame and Brazilian producer Badsista, tipping the remix balance into more
female input |

Mister
Shifter teams up with his close friend Fanu yet again, this time on Dispatch
Dubplate. Two producers who share a profound love of sampling and
manipulating fresh breakbeats, showcase what they do best on this 4-track
release. "Reverse Dawn" from Fanu sets the tone for this release,
its otherworldly atmospheres are matched with precision drum work and tense,
driving bass. This track was the initial spark that birthed this release.
When the contrasting remix from Mister Shifter arrived it was clear they
belonged on the same Dispatch Dubplate. Mister Shifter takes Fanu's
"Reverse Dawn" into bold & contrasting new territory by adding
high-powered breakbeats (some courtesy of Paradox and Mako), clever edits,
and a floor-quaking bassline. Many of Fanu's ethereal & moody elements
remain intact, letting the remix proudly showcase the finest qualities of
each producer. Vinyl-exclusive "The Kingpin" pays homage to the
famed Blue Note-era sound, while looking forward with a modern production
techniques and aesthetics. This track pulls no punches, featuring a
devastating mid-song change-up that rivals anything Mister Shifter has
released to date. Fans of HBO's "The Wire" will appreciate the
dialogue samples from which the track draws its name. A staple in Mister
Shifter's DJ sets, "The Kingpin" has received support around the
globe from the likes of Gremlinz, Double O, Mantra, Ant TC1, Andy Odysee, and
Djinn. Capping off the release is old-school rave banger "That Dreama
Trak VIP", taking things back to where it all started by lowering the
BPM and elevating the vibes. Drawing inspiration from the likes of 2 Bad Mice
and early 90's Moving Shadow, Mister Shifter gives us a modern take on the
hardcore breakbeat and rave music that helped shape his musical foundation.
Pitched-down Amen & Think breaks, Mentasms, and vocal samples combine
into an anthemic, hands-in-the-air floor-filler |

Shedbug returns offering up spell-binding electro, trance, techno and weirdo
whomps. Stripped back, bass-laced opener, Ambroxitil, is as hypnotic as it is
dynamic, perfect for both big rooms and tiny basements. Timeframe picks up
the pace - wobbly jelly, trance goodness layered with a kickin' beat to stomp
the blues away. On the flip, Strive For More is eerie and enigmatic, a
driving cut for latenight trips. Techy magic on Waouu will leave you in a
daze, while Voiski rounds out the EP, giving Timeframe a brain tickling
re-rub. 5 killer cuts - if you don't hear this out, you're in the wrong

- Rove Ranger kicks out a string of euphoric, rave ready techno and trance
cuts with this hard, fast and effective EP. Opener '1998' conjures up earlier
release Rave Memories, with loopy, psychedelic, thundering 140+ techno,
hurtling us from acid car ride into full flight across a sunset-burnt sky.
Hefty percussive techno with an old skool sound, waves or rave drift over
pacey heat and compelling kicks. Then we arrive at '101010'. 100% warehouse
body music on this driving title track. Organic, clinking, clattering shell
percussion clops over a dark, endless beat. True Berlin warehouse spirit
channelled into the machine. The uplifting 'In My Mind' is a proper chunky
club pumper, blending lush vocals, squelchy bass lines and housier elements.
The peak of euphoria and a nostalgic trip back to 90's fusion dance music.
Rounding out the EP on a eurorave tip, 'Schaltkreis' launches down a
swirling, mesmerising wormhole. Pulling together urgent trance-synth stabs,
racing pulse drumwork and crushed production taking us headlong into the
abyss |

transformation from hazier sounds into full throttle techno - Self Love Club
is a defining record for the young artist and an ambitious taster ahead of
his debut album, slated for release at the start of the summer. Opener Ice On
My Neck sets the pace of the release combining bone-rattling drums &
glacial pads to maximum effect, while title track Self Love Club ramps up the
emotion without sacrificing any intensity. On the flip, Bird Ghost's ethereal
synth lines punctuate a pummelling kick and Night Shift lowers the aggression
ending the record on a dreamy, break-lined note |

Relentless
raver and emerging artist from the Rinse France roster of captivating talent,
RONI launched her imprint Nehza Records with a five-track EP titled 'Slowing'
by Bordeaux-based member of the Super Daronne collective, Neida. Marking the
debut release on the label, Neida is the first producer to bring RONI's
fantasy-led vision to life. 'Slowing' is a cross-pollination of breaks, acid,
jungle and bass which nods to the sound of the underground UK rave scene
circa 1990. An era that RONI closely aligns with in terms of sound, art and
the sense of liberation synonymous with 90s club culture, Neida nails this
aesthetic throughout the EP. A drummer and son of a musical instrument
builder, Neida's rich history in music production shines bright from the first
beat of the release. 'Bull' sets a powerful tone as the opening track, packed
with punchy drums layered below an orchestral-like vocal before 'DSO' burbles
through with squelchy synthwork over a 4/4 beat - a clear hint of that UK
rave sound simmering under the surface. Garnering his appreciation for reggae
and Rasta dialect, Neida's rework of a vocal derived from reggae artist Don
Carlos is masterfully blended into this 6-minute churner. Over on the B-side,
'Guess Who' burns slowly with downtempo breaks and mesmerising chords; you
can almost smell an imaginary forest as the track unravels, creating an image
of tripping in nature - likely brought on by Alice Gavin's [Alice Gavin
Services], the designer, author and creative director responsible for the
mushroom-themed artwork on the sleeve of the EP. 'WHT' rumbles through with a
mellow introduction before going full-whack into barreling drums and
clap-heavy percussion, illustrating Neida's ability to dip into experimental
textures that nod to complex rhythm patterns rather than club-cut melodies.
'For All The Time Sake' closes the EP with an acid bassline and bright, crisp
percussion ending the EP on a significantly vibrant note to mark the first
stepping stone of RONI's record label. 'Slowing' is a spiralling myriad of
bright atmospheres and escapism, likely to be one of many sonic trademarks on

uncompromising approach to dance music has never been more keenly felt. While
they're turning out remixes for commercial acts such as Katy Perry and

Vision imprint. For Vision's latest release label bosses Noisia team up with
long-term collaborators, Phace, to whip up 'Program'. As you'd expect from
one of their collabs, this one is hard and heavy complete with an intense
breakdown reminiscent of Wolfgang Gartner's 'Undertaker'. Winding bass notes
finish the job and rib-crushing subs will have the dancefloor churning every
time this drops. Flip over and 'Regurgitate' brings you in slowly, stuffing
you gently with an epic atmosphere and sultry guitar licks. Looped vocals
bring you up to the drop before a trademark Noisia bassline pukes all over
your best dancing shoes. If this one doesn't get people 'going sick' we don't

been grabbed directly from a digging in the Crates compilation or a KPM
library record, but in all fairness was recorded in 2022 in The Hague's
grimiest studio The Womb. Filled to the brim with a healthy dose of Funk and
Groove and a dash of Moerwijk street attitude to top it off. This is what we
call a first single |

Frankfurt duo Transonic Flow fly
at the speed of sound on this six-shooter for Dream Ticket, giving the label
3 for 3 in 2018. The furious salvos of 'Pk Jam', 'Elec Jit', 'Arp Attack' and
'KC's Intermission' come fully loaded with influences from classic Detroit
jit and electro, while 'Frtry 2jun' and 'Hp Dub', with all their broken
melancholy, sound like man-machine laments for the aftermath. Make electro,

Metropolis
Metropolis is an abbreviated version of the most recent Electronic Music
soundtrack for Fritz Lang’s Metropolis (1927) by Jeff Mills. Unlike his first
soundtrack where tracks addressed specific segments of the film in a track
listing form, which was created and released in 2001, this version is more a
symbiotic mix of compositions that proposes a nuanced representation of the
plot and storyline. As an electronic symphonic music creation, Mills proposes
a few interesting points in the schematics of this album. 1- the positioning
and role of the listener as the soundtrack is based on the environment of the
scenes, rather than pure transcription, 2 – as a storyline that takes place
in the year 2000, the choice of sound elements refer to some future
commonality and foresight between the genres of Classical and Electronic
music – between man and machine. And 3, in many parts of the soundtrack where
sounds are played in unison. This is symbolic of the hopefulness the
storyline works towards. Jeff Mills about „Metropolis Metropolis“: Creating
music for Fritz Lang’s masterpiece film “Metropolis” over the many year has
been and continues to be a great experience. The film is a story about „man
vs man“ with the help of a machine. It’s dramatic theme is as relevant now as
it was when the filmed debuted in 1927. A film to enjoyed, but also noted and
examined. - Jeff Mills. Terry Matthew about Metropolis: Fritz Lang’s
Metropolis takes place in an eponymously named city at some point in the
future (the years 2000, 2026 and 3000 have all been referenced by various
entities connected with the movie over the years). Society has become
intensely stratified, the elites of the city living decadent lives at the top
of gigantic art deco skyscrapers. The workers, on the other hand, trudge
robotically from factories to their homes in an underground city. Health,
fresh air and seemingly even happiness are the privilege of a well-born
elite. The film opens as Freder, a son of the ruler of Metropolis, is about
to have his way with a hand-selected courtesan in the “Eternal Garden” where
the rich frolic. A second woman, Maria, breaches this rarified space with a
handful of ragged children under her watch from the worker’s underground
city. Their sunken eyes widen as she gestures at the glamorous people in lush
surroundings. „Look,“ she says to the children, „these are your brothers.“
These are the words that ignite the plot of the film and propels the world of
Metropolis to destruction and redemption. Multiple books have been written
about what inspired Lang and Metropolis, the references to visual art,
paintings and the tribal masks that inspired the face of the Maschinenmensch,
the film‘s iconic android. But why does Metropolis continue to inspire us?
What is it about this silent film, its message and its themes, that has moved
some of our most celebrated musicians to set it to music? And why are so many
electronic music composers in particular fascinated by a film about the
future that‘s more than 100 years old? Metropolis is — superficially — a
movie about people vs. machinesKinemathek - Horst von Harbou |

Annie
Hall returns to Sheffield's Central Processing Unit label with an EP
entitledMemories That Never Happened. This record represents the producer's
third time on CPU after 2016'sTenured Positionsand 2020'sFum, and it is also
the latest release in a busy couple of years for Annie Hall which have also
seen her drop EPs on 20:20 Vision, Orson Records and Random Island. The
momentum Annie Hall has built up in recent times carries through to a dynamic
collection of productions which bring enough heft in the beats to keep the
dancefloor happy while also including all manner of details in the
production. Memories That Never Happenedbegins with the title-track, a
twitchy yet wistful cut which perfectly matches its name. There's bite to the
broken-beat electro pulse, growling bass and robotic declamations of
"it's Annie", but the makeup of the track is simultaneously rather
rose-tinted, particularly when some chemtrails of a synth lead enter later
on. The overall effect is as thoughtful as it is stimulating, akin to the
halcyon productions of Daniel Avery. If 'Memories That Never Happened' is
somewhat plaintive, following jam 'Problematic Tape Recorder' has the bit
between its teeth from the get-go. The beat crashes and snaps, and when
played off shimmering stabs of synth it all adds up to aWip3outrush that nods
to both the old Rephlex Records sound as well as contemporary practitioners
like Nightwave. Once again the synth lead is used lightly here, more an
augmentation to the beat than the centrepiece - another demonstration of
Annie Hall's ability to write with focus even when the overall intent is to
move bodies in the club. The energy of 'Problematic Tape Recorder' is spun in
an unusual direction on 'Subsequent Experiments', the first track ofMemories
That Never Happened's B-side. This cut may be the quickest on the record, but
this does not mean it shouts the loudest. Indeed, 'Subsequent Experiments'
may be the most ornate production here, full of shadowy sonics and a
deconstructed beat running at D&B speed. A kind of shadowrealm version of
Planet Mu's early drill & bass explorations crossed with UVB-76's
darkside post-Metalheadz excursions, this one is an eerie thrill. After the
busy 'Subsequent Experiments', Annie Hall slows down to take the EP's home
straight at mid-tempo. On 'Unparalleled Comfort', keyboard stabs slide over a
rhythm that's at once driving enough for the dancefloor and nuanced enough to
allow little half-melodies of synth to flit around above. It's a fitting closer
for this EP, almost playing like an amalgamation of the elements which made
the rest ofMemories That Never Happenedso appealing. Annie Hall returns to
Central Processing Unit withMemories That Never Happened, an EP of masterful
productions which will delight both clubbers and home-listeners |

The
core of the band in Fishtank Studio is formed by the two ex Three Mile Pilots
Paolo Zoppoli (who used to call himself Pall Jenkins) and Tobias Nathaniel
from California. The line-up is completed by changing guests from the
Californian music scene. So the minimalist ensemble from San Diego meets the
playful sound tinkerers from Holland. The Procession singer's deep voice is
reminiscent of Nick Cave. Distorted guitars, orchestral cymbals, deep, slow
piano sounds, the voice of Swiss Rachael Rose, vibrating keyboard notes, a
lyric violin until Zoppoli's lamenting vocals kick in, these are combinations
that seem hard to bear but are amazingly listenable. 'The whole thing ends up
somewhere in Bad Seeds country, with a bag full of Ennio Morricone leftovers
thrown behind a container full of New Wave hits,' the label explains on the
back of the booklet. With 'In The Fishtank 11', the two bands not only
present a successful album, but also join Tortoise, Sonic Youth or
Motorpsycho, all of whom have already contributed to this series |

Not only is Nonagon Infinity a
berserk, psychedelic piece of prog-metal, but it is the fourth album this
Australian band have released in a year and a half. This vinyl LP from King
Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard borrows the sound of 70s hard-rock but connects
it with their distinctive improvisational sound |
