told that this project is made by two well known experts: Oscar Mulero and
Another Machines. About the music, three cuts on vinyl and four on digital,
all named in Spanish to add more confusion for the non speakers. El Joven
Prisionero opens the EP in a gymnastic mode, solid kicks, an energized raw
sequence setting things up and a mutant structure. A proper bullet for the
post restricted dancefloors when ready. Agitate incides directly on the most
sensible parts of your mind and sound receivers, hysterical synth lines
running over a shuffled beat and random resonant bleeps. Another physical
exercise of abstract dancefloor weaponry. Extrano Mundo follows, an elastic
beat runs alone on the first bars, soon joined by martian and asymmetrical
sequences growing from below. Additional percussive layers complete the
equation, that as always is wisely administered on an intelligent arrangement |

Groove are squashing their first EP into wax with red-hot house talent Donnie
Cosmo, after a successful run of digital releases over the past 3 years.
Donnie's sound has been turning heads and moving dance floors in a special
way, with a celebrated EP under Gene on Earth's Limousine Dream. His second
vinyl EP will now come into existence under the Circa Groove imprint in the
form of a 4-track solo EP. Commencing the EP is the Track 'Stargazer (Highway
Mix)', like Neil deGrasse Tyson this one is seriously intergalactic. The
track holds tight and shuffling drums, with no-nonsense synth leads lifting
the whole track and making it shimmer. The bassline bubbles and rocks
underneath the top end giving the track an unrelenting energy. Followed on by
Wired Nag, this is a track that flexes monstrous sound design to construct a
deep and flowing number. Laced with electro pings and undulating synth leads,
this is deep and weighty club-ready music with nods to 90s house and electro.
In a similar fashion, on B1 and B2 Donnie has delivered 2 chrome-plated,
slamming numbers, likely to cause axial tilt on the dancefloor |

& Rave: An enigmatic new sound is oozing out of your speakers. Seemingly
self-tasked with reviving the essence of the techno rave style, Rant &
Rave Records presents the world with an updated vision that sounds exactly
like it should. Based in Berlin, the techno epicenter, It's a dangerous new
label, unafraid to stir things up and break the rules. Run by Tresor resident
and Sonic Groove recording artist Maedon, the label intends to inject some
hard-hitting fun back into the techno underground. About to be revealed; EPs
from Maedon, Lady Starlight, JoeFarr (of Turbo fame), and veteran industrial
techno guru Mark Crumby, (aka Codex Empire, Konstruktivitis). Look for Rant
& Rave records this summer at all fine record shops. RAR001: Berlin-based
American expat Maedon (Tresor, Sonic Groove) ushers in the arrival of Rant
& Rave Records with a slickly produced debut EP entitled 'Cease and
Desist'. '1989' opens with booming kicks, driving mechanical percussion, and
hallelujah samples interspersed throughout. The droning rave synths sound
eerily akin to kamikaze dive bombers heading directly for your brain.
'Grandstand' and the title track 'Cease and Desist' continue in this
direction, abundant with hypnotic electronics and relentless energy. On 'The
Worlds So', Maedon shares her thoughts on the state of world current events
with looped vocals 'The worlds so fucked... all we can do is dance'. Gritty,
dark rave tracks for peak time workout that provide a nice blueprint of what

Veneno
hits Dark Entries! Spain's most loved transgender TV star arrives on the
label in celebration of Madrid Pride on June 30th. Cristina Ortiz fled her
home in Almeria at age 13. While working as a sex worker in the Parque del
Oeste in Madrid, she was discovered by the TV program “Este Noche Cruzamos el
Mississippi”. Her acerbic wit and candid descriptions of life as a sex worker
(including graphic use of the microphone as a visual aid) struck program host
and director Pepe Navarro, who recognized a star when he saw one. As a
regular on the show, La Veneno (The Poison) became a TV sensation and an icon
for the trans community. Her music career began in 1996 with the release of
“Veneno Pa Tu Piel”, a sassy but mournful Eurobeat number about forbidden
love with her johns. The flipside features “El Rap De La Veneno”, a house
track over which Veneno improvises some of her famous catchphrases, including
her iconic “Digoooo!”. The release was a hit, selling over 50,000 copies in
Spain. Two different mixes of both tracks are included on this reissue. Each
copy includes an insert with lyrics, notes, and a photo of La Veneno.

Italian
techno artist Jack Fresia churns out three original tracks to form Conundrum
Records' second outing, titled Night Ride EP. Founded and curated by LA-based
producer and DJ Stephen Disario, Conundrum Records is a label focusing on the
groovier and deeper ends of the techno spectrum. The imprint debuted in March
of 2023 with Stephen's very own Lights Down Under EP and continues on its
mission with this brilliantly curated second release, which also comes
complete with a Jay York remix. The EP starts off with title track
"Night Ride" a groovy piece that features hypnotic elements over an
infectious bassline and percussive elements. "Wrong Turn" is a
slightly funkier affair, at first continuing in the same vein as "Night
Ride" before taking you on unexpected twists characterized by darker
elements and stripped-down percussions. This one is ideal for the later
segments of a long dance floor night as it provides some breathing room and
respite in between the otherwise dance floor-focused foundations of the
track. The third original track, "Sintesia" picks up the pace by
speeding things a notch with an ever-so-slight crescendo, before bringing you
back into the depth of its captivating peak-time journey. Closing out the
release is the brilliant Jay York remix of "Sintesia" Here, the
young up-and-coming American producer increases the BPMs, transforming the
original into a fast-groove tool, while maintaining its discerning
underground elements. Jack Fresia's Night Ride EP is out on Conundrum Records
on June 30th and will be available on the label's Bandcamp |

Serge
Geyzel and Karsten Pflum are old friends, with a common musical ground and
passion. Since 2020 they have been collaborating prolifically - focusing
their energy and effort on dance oriented electro, with strong acid,
breakbeat and IDM vibes. "EP 2" is a five tracker, displaying a
palette of funky, tight, deep and quirky excursions into their acid galaxy.
Karsten Pflum is a restlessly creative Danish producer and DJ, living and
working in Berlin. For over more than a decade he has built a wide-ranging
discography, and his mixes are widely known in the left-field fernandum. He
is precisely technical and peculiar with rhythmic mastery embedded in distant
emotional beauty. Since his debut in 2003, karsten pflum has been a prolific
producer and live performer. With his well crafted work that's full of soul,
his tunes are a fresh and curious take on the electronic dance music genre.
The sound of heavy bass-driven electro, frantic jungle, and crystal clear
ambient, always with the haunting and charming pflum sound - poignant and
sophisticated. The output is often full of references to genres, gear or
techniques and the underlying storyline displays a love for classic elements
from 80's sci-fi, Motown funk music, and BBC wildlife documentaries. As a
live performer karsten pflum offers an engaging insight into his playful and
musical approach. By erasing borders between different music worlds, Berlin
musician Serge Geyzel starts from classical and jazz music. A musician born
in Saratov, Russia dedicated 12 years of his life to studying classical
music, paying special attention to playing piano. New destinations in life
and music appeared with a move to Israel in 1999, where he fell in love with
the jazz scene. This is where he embarked on a new journey exploring jazz
piano at the Jerusalem Academy of Music, performing his trio and other
various ensembles. His fascinating experience moved him from the field of
traditional music to the boundless world of electronic music production when
he began experimenting with software to create new sounds. The end result was
an exceptional standard of music production. Since moving to Berlin in 2014,
exploring the trends of electronic music in the city, influencing its own
sound, Serge Geyzel has been combining its proximity to electronics in the
early 2000's with the aesthetics of the electrical and ambient in its current

VAMPIRAS Vol.1 is the debut release of PUTAS VAMPIRAS, a DJ and producer who
is an icon of Sao Paulo's queer underground scene. As the organizer and
mother of the infamous VAMPIRE HAUS
raves and its community of vampires, her work is a celebration of DIY
culture, resistance and an unapologetic commitment to inclusion and the
freedom of the Brazilian LGBTQIA+
community. Over the last decade VAMPIRE HAUS has become much more than a
rave, its an aesthetic, a mind-set and a movement that spans across the whole
of Latin- America. After almost 10 years, it is finally debuting as a record
label. In this first release, PUTAS VAMPIRAS reimagines post-punk attitudes
and the frenzied energy of a rock and roll mosh pit through the lens of the
queer Sao Paulo underground. The album's tracks were built to withstand the
heat of the VAMPIRE HAUS raves, and to satisfy the legions of dissident
ravers, drag monster queens, techno lovers, and "vampiras" from all
around the world. She describes her sound as VAMPIRE TECHNO, the perfect
soundtrack to a kinkier and queerer alternative reality version of Tony
Scott's "The Hunger" movie. All the tracks on this compilation are
anthems at the VAMPIRE HAUS raves and part of PUTAS VAMPIRAS' live
performances in recent years, with the track "Puta Vampira Bixa
Loka" becoming the soundtrack of LGBTQ freedom and empowerment in Sao
Paulo. Using a hybrid setup of analog drum machines, modular synths and vinyl
during her performances, PUTAS VAMPIRAS made thousands of
"vampiras" dance like there was no tomorrow. She has performed on
BOILER ROOM and extensively toured across the world, playing amongst many
places in the UK, USA, India, Turkey, Ukraine, Chile, and Paraguay and being
the first Brazilian to perform a hardware live set on the main floor of
Berghain. PUTAS VAMPIRAS has become a household name and a symbol of LGBTQ+
empowerment, liberation, and resistance and her music will carry the VAMPIRE

brought together an amazing lineup spanning the totality of the nation-s jazz
scene with such luminaries as Eric Dolphy, Buddy Collette, Clark Terry, Zoot
Sims, Pepper Adams, Jaki Byard, Grady Tate, and more. Brought together to
perform new Mingus compositions for the first time in public, the recording
was initially considered weak due to limited rehearsal time but the years
have been kind to this recording and it-s a fantastic set of Mingus
compositions, including the powerful 'Freedom' which rivals the works on
Mingus Ah-Um (1959) for its strength of purpose and message, in a similar
vein to Max Roach's legendary We Insist! album (1960). Mingus is one of the
most important figures in 20th century music and this live recording
documents his compositional and arranging process as well as sheer swinging
joy |

Dropkick Murphys history with
Woody Guthrie dates back decades, from covering 'Gonna Be A Blackout Tonight'
on their 2003 album Blackout, to using some of Guthrie's writing about Boston
in their immortal hit 'I'm Shipping Up To Boston'. On their recent 2022
album, This Machine Still Kills Fascists, Dropkick Murphys crafted an entire
record around the seminal American folk icon, bringing Woody Guthrie's
perennial jabs at life-many of which are from the 1940s and '50s-into the
present, with the resulting music eerily relevant to today's world. Okemah
Rising is second and final installment of this collaboration, and the band
bring it home with a bang. Whereas the goal of This Machine Still Kills
Fascists was to raise consciousness, Okemah Rising intends to raise the roof.
It may have one or two tender moments, but all in all it's much more of a
party |

Ylia—aka
Susana Hernández—had a remarkably productive 2020. In addition to releasing
her debut album, Dulce Rendición, on Barcelona’s Paralaxe Editions, she
penned compilation tracks for Lapsus Records, Hivern Discs, and Super
Utu/Stars on Earth. But professional success can be deceiving: The following
year was, personally speaking, terrible. Her grandfather died. Her father
died. Her cat died. And she ended a relationship. “That’s a lot of things all
at once, no?” she says. Her second album, Ame Agaru, is not necessarily a
record of that year, but it is, she says, a response to those life events—a
record of grief. The new album is clearly a continuation of the ambient
investigations of Ylia’s debut, but it differs in key ways. Where Dulce
Rendición was exploratory and faintly cosmic, Ame Agaru—a Japanese phrase
meaning, roughly, “the rain lifts”— captures a melancholy sense of stillness.
And where her debut was largely electronic, on the new album, Ylia has folded
in a number of acoustic elements, even when they are not recognizable as
such. Her partner, Alejandro Lévar, lends fingerpicked acoustic guitar to the
glowing dronescapes of “Todos los Cuerpos”; multi-instrumentalist and
bandleader Tete Leal adds flutes, clarinet, and soprano saxophone to “Ame
Agari”—or “after the rain”—which opens the album with a moment of
contemplative calm, the kind that follows an extended deluge. One track, the
dub techno-influenced “Flowers in June,” grew out of Ylia’s live sets, but
the rest are the fruit of improvisational sessions at home in Málaga, five
minutes from the beach—jamming and then refining, searching for the ideal
expression of a feeling as it was first captured. Searching for the
spontaneity behind the stillness. In places, Ylia even incorporates piano, an
instrument she has played since she was 10, yet has never included on one of
her recordings before. For the most part on Ame Agaru, she seeks ways to fuse
piano with synthesizers and electronic processes. But on the closing track,
“El Único Adiós Posible,” she leaves us alone with the instrument in all its
stark, unadorned beauty. It is a profoundly moving conclusion to an album
defined by its economy of means and purity of expression: a cycle |

the perpetual brain fog caused by a post Covid-world asking herself: do we
have to get used to paradox as a way of life from now on?* A musical dissection in nine songs of the
mudflow, a flow which reveals its rich complexity the more Gillain dived into
it: from the demanding intro 'Together' Céline opens up her highly personal
and unique vision, shifting between high definition lost dimensions and
emotionsthe mud slowly transfers in a crackling and sparkling stream of
consciousness. The mud is well alive in all its weirdness and unclarity. At
times, it even glows in the dark. *The answer to that question is yes. The
story of Mind is Mud by Céline Gillain: "Music is a place where
intuiting is a work in itself. For me, it's the one place where I'm in
charge, free to think and do what I want. Mind is Mud is the fruit of a
collaborative practice with a DAW, a research around the palliative power of
rhythm and the dancefloor, music as a space where emotions and ideas merge,
storytelling, the comic potential and imaginative nature of sound. I don't
really write, I copy paste and then I arrange and rearrange. Every sound I
use comes from software, field recording, Instagram, movies and midi scores I
collect here and there. In the hierarchy of sounds, you might call them cheap
sounds. The lyrics are collages as well, made of pieces of texts from various
contradictory sources. In addition to using the voice as a vehicle for ideas,
I investigate its percussive and polyphonic potentialities, the possibility

books, entering the k-hole and recording their dystopian dreams at the

and performing arts. She has performed extensively in Europe during the last
ten years. Her work explores the meeting points between dancefloor, politics,
the industry, and storytelling, deconstructing the codes and hierarchies that
govern them. Seeking escape routes and operating in the loopholes, Céline
feels at home in the in-betweens. In 2017, she released her first single

stars aligned to bring another of our all-time favourite producers, and
indeed one of the most important musical figures from the Techno sphere to
the 170/85 BPM tempo when Reeko sent us a demo late last year. All four
tracks perfectly create a fully formed and distinctive stylistic adaptation
and were signed instantly. If we imagined what Reeko would sound like at this
tempo, we couldn't have envisioned a better reality. These four tracks make
up 'Confront The Serpent' - an ode to the machinations of an Ayahuasca
ceremony and its resulting journey of discovery. The Serpent symbolises our
shadows and the importance of facing them. A hazy psychedelic aura floats
across these tracks, binding them together, while the kicks possess the
perfect frequencies you would expect from such a renowned kick-drum
scientist. Percussive and ambient elements for each track create flawless
contrasts and shade, while Reeko's subtle low-end work proves the deadly
ingredient to send the tracks into a delicious level of hypnotism. 'Smile At
Reptile' is especially notable for its deftly reworked, cascading breakbeat
and inventive kick/break combo. A potent new force has arrived at this tempo
and we are honoured to be the label that presents the first fruits of this

– EP 2’ turns the spotlight on electro. For this special EP, we’ve gathered
brand new tracks by The Advent & Zein Ferreira, Carl Finlow, Detroit’s
Filthiest and Modulator a.k.a. Freddie Fresh. As all good electro-heads will
know, The Advent (Cisco Ferreira) is as renowned for electro as he is for
techno. On ‘Strangeform’ he works alongside his son and rising talent, Zein
to turn in pure electro-funk that’s blistering to the last beat. Another
absolute master of the scene is Carl Finlow who brings deep bass notes,
carefully crafted melody and his meticulous production skills to
‘Optogenetic’. Detroit’s Filthiest has been wowing listeners with his work
for labels like Casa Voyager, Bass Agenda, Philthtrax and his own MCEC. His
track ‘Werewolf’ is the electro monster the title suggests – dark and tough
Detroit-electro book-ended with a playful vocal. The EP closes with the
legendary, Freddie Fresh who after three decades is a genuine virtuoso. Under
his Modulator guise he layers beautiful retro synth stylings and sci-fi
atmospherics on ‘ProMars’. The third EP featuring four house tracks will
follow in July, with the ‘EPM20’ compilation after the summer |

the first album by rocksteady star Alton Ellis. He was one of the innovators
of the genre and given the informal title “Godfather of Rocksteady”. The
album is packed with some wonderful, melodic songs, ones that will appeal to
vintage reggae lovers as well as soul music fans. Ellis is fabulous on every
song on this record, including “You Make Me So Very Happy”, “Why Birds Follow
Spring” and “Ain’t That Lovin’ You”. Alton Ellis was inducted into the
