Ghost (Ghent, Belgium) is the sextet led by guitarist/composer Jo De Geest.
As a group, they draw influences from jazz, rock, and contemporary classical
music. Minimalism, electronics, and an overall cinematic quality characterize
their instrumental sound. The ensemble's sound can be described as a
symbiosis of Hidden Orchestra, Portico Quartet, and James Holden. After the
critically acclaimed "Airships Are Organisms" (4-star reviews in
The Guardian and Financial Times, as well as airplay on BBC 6 and Worldwide
FM) John Ghost is back with "Thin Air . Mirror Land", to be
released on October 6 via Sdban Ultra, the label of ECHT!, Black Flower,
Glass Museum, STUFF. and more. For this album, they continued their fruitful
collaboration with legendary producer Jørgen Træen, known for his work with
Jaga Jazzist, Electric Eye, Kaizers Orchestra, and numerous projects on the
Hubro Record Label. The result is an album with a slightly more somber tone,
focussing on a broader range of instruments and an emphasis on percussive
elements."Thin Air . Mirror Land" unfolds as an aesthetic refuge in
stormy times. It is a musical urge for introspection in a chaotic reality,
and a longing to reconnect with a natural environment. During the creative
process, Jo drew inspiration from the music of artists such as Hans Zimmer,
György Ligeti, Magma, The Residents, Disasterpeace, James Holden & The
Animal Spirits, Do Make Say Think, William Basinski, and Jóhann Jóhannsson.
The album title "Thin Air . Mirror Land" and the song titles are
driven by a fascination with the artwork of Edvard Munch. Jo found
inspiration in Munch's painting "The Storm" (1893) as a catalyst
for the writing process, exploring a dystopian backdrop and the intriguing
interplay between comfort and unrest. Heavily inspired by the music, Jaak De
Digitale created the gloomy artwork for the album. Members of the band are Jo
De Geest (Endlingr), Rob Banken (Rapidman, HAST), Wim Segers (Compro Oro, PAARD.),
Karel Ceulenaere (Black Flower), Lieven Van Pée (Echoes of Zoo, De Beren
Gieren) and Elias Devoldere (Nordmann, Elias) who went through a thoughtful
studio process, with the result being a conceptual and slightly dystopian

Max
Holler a Berlin-based singer and musician founded Echo Romeo in the early 80s
and later the Atlantic Popes, which himself considers his main project
together with Bernhard Lloyd (from Alphaville). In those years Max's dream
was to direct films and create music videos but, according to his statements,
the equipment for it was way too expensive. Therefore, after meeting Jurgen
Erdmann from Dusseldorf, Echo Romeo and the first and only single "Your
Tears" were born. The Wall was still there and Jurgen had insanely
adventurous car journeys to reach Berlin, precisely the Tritonus Studio where
they recorded the masterpiece. But, despite everything and everyone, the
title track "Your Tears" is one of the most seminal examples of
robotic synth-wave we've ever heard with a driving bass that blows you away,
mixed with a pulsating soul and lyrics that are pure poetry. On the B-side,
we find "Dreams" and the same kind of atmosphere but, drastically
pitched down and with a splash of jazz that is actually Max's first love. The
fully remastered reissue comes courtesy of Max Holler via the new Kings Of
Harmony imprint |

Gravity Graffiti, the DJ and producer based in Palermo Riccardo Schiro gives
wide proof of his unpredictable style again, a prodigious understanding of
alternative dance music, and the touch of an undisputed wizard of vintage
hardware. For his first appearance on La Bella Di Notte, he draw inspiration
from both the Italian progressive house and the Dutch tech house scenes,
prominent movements arising at the dawn of the 90s and overlapping the period
that went down in history as the UK's rave era. The reference is clear:

through the heavy chords of the synth bass, and a four-on-the-flour rhythm

Omon
Breaker aka Maksym Nazarov is a DJ and musician who grew up in Kyiv, Ukraine
originally from Dnipro. Now he presents his first ever full EP, Compromat,
that traverses from cyberpunk dancefloor techno to trance-like work outs and
wave inflected anthems including a special appearance from labelhead Phase
Fatale. In his early works, he delved into questions of electronic culture
and its impact on his life. As a result of his musical development and his
quest for forging his own sound image defined by breakbeats and grooves
reminiscent of early 90s electronica combined with the edge of modern techno,
he released his first vinyl split 12" with D.Dan on Standard Deviation -
the label from the ? club in 2021. Meanwhile, he quickly established his DJ
path in Ukraine as a skilled performer, even becoming a resident at Kyiv's
first LGBTQ+ friendly club Crest. Following the full-scale invasion of
Ukraine, Nazarov was forced to leave his home and relocate to Berlin. In this
new city, he came under the wing of BITE where he debuted with his track
'Stinger' from their recent VA and played the label showcase at Berghain in
April 2023. While acclimatising and reflecting on his intense life
experiences, Omon Breaker began work on his EP in which he seeks to express
his emotions brought on by the tragic situations in his life: the loss of
home, loved ones, and love itself. Compromat is Nazarov's first solo vinyl
release where he attempts to musically depict his inner world shaped by the
tragedies in his life |

forgotten masterpiece. What if you have Brian Wilson and Bruce Springsteen
rolled into one? And what if he came of age as an poor buskers in in
Surabaya, Indonesia, but then summoned enough strength to record six albums
that flew in the face of everyone in the country’s rock scene back in the
early 1980s? Genius, be they Brian Wilson or Soedjarwoto “Soemarsono”
Gombloh, don’t conform to rules written for us mere mortals. They have their
own way of doing things and in the case of Gombloh, writing music, conducting
recording session and spending cash from his music, must be conducted on his
own terms and his terms only. Studio time was expensive back in the early
1980s, yet Gombloh could be three-hour late for his session, and while
engineers, session musicians and producers were jittery about the prospect of
another botched session, Gombloh took his time for a nap before the recording
begun. Yet, some of his greatest works came into being in the wake of this
napping session. Recording session for Sekar Mayang is no exception, despite
the fact there’s foreboding sense of doom with Gombloh being unsure about the
possibility of selling enough units to help his label break even. This is,
after all, this is his last record with his band Lemon Tree’s. No one knew
that Gombloh was operating with all his cylinders running and what came out
of this Indra Record session, in the waning days of 1980, were some of the
best compositions ever committed to magnetic tapes (to wax, if now you’re
holding this on vinyl). This is Gombloh at the peak of his creative genius.
You can argue that his debut album Nadia & Atmospheer (what’s with the
spelling mistake?) is the most sprawling and complex album (both sonically
and thematically), but Sekar Mayang certainly had the best songs and I can
make the argument that this album’s 10 songs are strong contenders for
biggest hits in blues, country, psychedelic rock charts. “Prahoro & Prahoro”
is one of those impossible song which appears to have sprung from a
bottomless well of inspiration, encompassing King Crimson’s sprawling epic,
Deep Purple’s deepest blues and Genesis’ most progressive tendencies. Or
“Sekaring Jagat”, which begins as Lennon-McCartney lullaby before launching a
thousand ships traveling to the end of the rainbow with children choir
singing heavenly melodies backed by droning harpsichord and synclavier, while
a buzzing Hammond B3 tightly locks with Gombloh’s guitar strumming. For many
of his fans, Gombloh is known as generous man of the people. A Robin Hood
type if you please. He spent his royalty checks to buy foods for beggars and
buskers and dish out some more to buy undergarments for Surabaya’s
prostitutes. In Sekar Mayang, Gombloh went full Springsteen mode in “Mitra
Becakan,” a social commentary that cut so deep you can end up with tears in
your eyes and lump in your throat (even if you don’t understand any of its
Javanese language lyrics) |

DEADLINE would have been the
follow-up to the POSSESSED album, but was never properly recorded or
released, due to VENOM Founder MANTAS departing the band in 1986. A little
known fact about the recordings is that around half of the guitar work is by
MANTAS, while the rest of the tracks feature JIM CLARE (aka JIMI C).
Possessed-type tendencies were laid down. Then nothing. Not a thing. Until,
that is, the bombshell hit that my guitar hero for all those years had only
left the band! |

Since
his early days on Sound Systems with Influence Sound and Blackwarell Sound,
Tiwony, also known as Le Lion Indomptable, has built a solid discography
reflecting his Reggae, Dancehall, Hip-Hop and Afro influences and has
positioned himself as a pillar of the Caribbean Reggae-Dancehall scene. He
has had many successes during his career, including the soundtrack of the
film "Ma 6-T va craquer" which earned him a Golden single, as well
as the SACEM Guadeloupe awards in 2002 and 2005 for the titles Beni Yo and
Jamais le Mal. Tiwony also collaborated with the famous artist Typical Féfé
for the albums "Double Trouble" and "Revolution", which
were nominated for the Trophées Afro-Caribéens in 2009 and won the Reggae
Awards in 2012 and 2013. In 2018, he won the trophy for Best Reggae Artist at
the Hit Lokal Awards and opened for the group NTM during their triumphant
tour in 2008. Tiwony is a conscious and universal lyricist, addressing all
the themes of his time. His passion for the studio has allowed him to create
a multitude of singles and various collaborations, demonstrating his
versatility as an artist. In 2023, he will celebrate 25 years of career with
the release of his 9th album, Frequency. This album is the one of maturity,
at the crossroads between Reggae, Hip-Hop and Afrobeat, the urban music that
has guided Tiwony since the beginning of his career. The album includes the
hits: Ayen Pas Changé in collaboration with Taïro, Lord Kossity, Daddy Mory,
Pompis and Cali P, the title that became the anthem of the yellow vest
movement Bla Bla Bla, the title Vwèy with Keros'n. The album also includes
powerful novelties such as the track A Quel Prix in collaboration with Balik
of Danakil and Manu Digital, or Frequency, returning to the roots reggae of
the artist. Frequency is eclectic and powerful and represents the musical
universe and influences of one of the pillars of the French reggae scene

Campbell, the Swiss producer duo "The Circle of Confusion" is set

old-school reggae singer Wayne Paul. Active in the 90's and 2000's within the
London label Big Dada, the artist of Jamaican origin sank into alcohol and
drugs, before rising from his ashes fifteen years later. Now he's back with a
powerful message of hope on this track called " Soul Of A Lion ".
Wayne's soulful voice blends perfectly with the modern reggae feel created by

With
his surprising first solo album Edmund November, Edmund Lauret (Nordmann,
Kosmo Sound, The Milk Factory) returns to his British roots and the music he
grew up with. He also debuts as a singer. "I had been making solo songs
for a while, but that process was accelerated during the corona period,"
he says. "I think there has always been a singer inside of me and now it
has come out." The idyllic setting of the southern English countryside
where Edmund and his band recorded the album undoubtedly had an impact on the
organic, vintage British character of the music. The songs are open and
expansive like the landscapes around the recording studio. The titles and
lyrics also have an elusive character; Lauret prefers to leave them to the
imagination of the listener. What is also striking is that Edmund November is
clearly influenced by music from the sixties and seventies, the songs Edmund
grew up with. As a young guitarist, Edmund was enthralled by Jimi Hendrix,
Donovan, early Pink Floyd and The Beatles. His influences showed him how to
master the balance between harmony and melody. This is how Lauret has always
worked with his bands for the past fifteen years, and in that sense his solo
work is no different. Edmund November floats between psychedelic folk and
melancholy pop. The songs were recorded live with minimal editing, which only
adds to the liveliness of the record. Ten songs take the listener on a dreamy
musical trip that showcases Edmund's singer-songwriter qualities |

series of limited edition 10" vinyl releases, which sees some of the
most revered names active during the mid 90s golden era of Drum & Bass
deliver remixes of Suburban Architecture material in homage to that most
innovative of periods. Following on from the now sold out release of
Architecture Dub #001 (featuring remixes from Peshay and DJ Trax), #002
delivers new remixes from two further legends of the scene, Blame and DJ
Trace. Blame has enjoyed a storied career in the genre, having released
extensively on two of the most highly regarded 90s imprints, Moving Shadow
and LTJ Bukem's Good Looking Records, before establishing his own imprint 720
Degrees. For this release Blame tackles 'Visions '96', a favourite from
Suburban Architecture's now highly collectible debut EP, 'Visions',
introducing a jazzy bass groove, rousing vocals and energising breakdowns to
the Jazz Fusion sonics of the original. DJ Trace is another name who needs
little introduction. With seminal releases on highly regarded underground
labels Lucky Spin and Dee Jay Recordings among others, Trace's work joins the
dots between early Hardcore, mid 90s Intelligence and the darker sounds of
the late 90s. His remix of 'Future Jazz '95' is a stripped back, stepping
rework that will please fans of his classic tracks 'After Hours' and 'Miles
High'. Pressed on 10" vinyl and housed in brown Kraft paper sleeves, the
series makes visual reference to the exclusive dubplate pressings which
introduced so many classic cuts to the UK's dancefloors in the 90s |

Berlin-based
artist Avilynn fuses electro, breaks, rave and IDM on modular driven '6' EP
for her own Taisha Records this October. Avilynn has been slowly unveiling
releases via her fledgling Taisha imprint, showcasing her unique sound which
encapsulates a variety of influences, always laced with a dynamic feel, sonic
hypnotism and gritty drive. Following on from 2021's acclaimed 'Five Million
Sunsets', Avilynn returns to Taisha Records with her new '6' EP. Blending
sonic experiences from the Berlin cityscape and coupling them with
provocative and sophisticated instrumentation. 'Air and Bubbles' leads the
release and lays down cinematic strings, tension building atmospherics, a
vacillating rhythmic groove and murky bass grooves. '66 33'48.8' follows next,
coordinates possibly, a hidden destination, a journey complete. This one sees
Avilynn shift focus towards textural soundscapes layered with ethereal,
billowing voices atop intricate off-kilter drums and swirling synth flutters.
Title-cut '6' then opens the flip-side, embracing a brighter aesthetic with
cosseting pads and resonant bubbling synths delicately intertwined with a
winding low-end groove and a combination of electronic and acoustic drums to
create the composition's bumpy breaks. 'Fobias' then rounds out the EP,
edging back into darker realms bringing crunchy saturated bass stabs and
shuffled percussion into the forefront while sweeping strings, intricate
melodies and voice-like textures unfurl as the composition progresses |

In
a realm where the threads of fate intertwined with the tapestry of existence,
there existed a timeless construct we call ?MENG?. This transcendental domain
pushed a sanctuary where an unholy wisdom was safeguarded. Within its
twenty-two walls, the experiences of countless sages and seekers resided,
forming a reservoir of enlightenment, of vision and of identity. Among the
enigmatic texts that adorned the shelves of The Memory Palace, one stood
out?the ''Tubular Heaven,'' a chapter that held the essence of the universe's
patterns and transformations. The book we speak of is the Book of Change - I
Ching. Legend has it that the Memory Palace embodied the vibrations of those
who sought its wisdom, guiding them to the Slow-Chain?s pages where hexagrams
unveiled the secrets of existence. Amidst this cosmic dance of knowledge,
there lived a young wanderer whose name we do not say out loud. Driven by a
deep yearning for understanding, this Warrior ventured into the city of
Tanoy. With every step, he felt the resonance of centuries long gone, as if
the walls whispered to him the essence of reality itself - ?you may fall as
long as you stand up again. Repeat this 1000 times and you will understand
me. Only then can we control the sound.? As he reached for the illuminated
Book of Change, a light was cast onto a newly fabricated realm of questions.
One hexagram, in particular, was essential. The cryptic symbolism was
perplexing. Upon meditation, we slowly begin to realize that life is indeed a
tapestry of imperfections, yet from these glitches we arise with profound
growth and transformation. As our curiosity spikes, we delve into the pages
that follow, discovering an unexpected connection between I Ching and the
world of Jeans, no denim. In ancient times, the craft of weaving denim
mirrored the wisdom of these hexagrams. Just as threads interwove to create a
durable fabric, I Ching reveals how life's experiences intertwine to form a
meaningful existence. Denim, like life, is sturdy yet adaptable - a true testament
to the harmonious balance between falling and standing. As this journey comes
to a gentle end, we must stress that hexagrams prove that other divination
systems exist. It has become clear that the patterns hitherto observed are
not confined to one culture, tradition, mind or body. Instead, they echo
throughout history, manifesting in various divination systems across our
globe. Hexagrams are a universal language, transcending boundaries and
demonstrating the interconnectedness of humanity's pursuit of higher
understanding. We can now truly emerge from the Memory Palace, carrying the
wisdom of everything above us. It?s time to Drag A Friend into this Made Up
Reality. Or is it? We now understand that life's glitches are the catalysts
for growth and that just as threads wove together to create denim,
experiences wove together to create a meaningful existence. As we walk
beneath the open sky, we whisper into the wind, ''Hexagrams are the echoes of
universal truths, proving that the search for wisdom knows no bounds.'' |

After
a string of successful releases, Lenske regular AIROD is back on the label
with a striking new single and subsequent EP. A certified dance floor pleaser
both in and out of the studio, AIROD's distinct sound has kept him at the
forefront of cutting-edge underground techno as it continues to evolve
rapidly. Circling back for another release on Lenske, his latest work is
another bold statement of intent, staking his claim as one of the genre's
most exciting talents. Released first, on the 4th August is standalone single
'Meet Me In The Club', it teases with a wave of high-octane club-focused
goodness. Building around a catchy vocal hook - the track comes in hot with
racy grooves and riveting musicality. A core of thumping drums, fizzing hat
sequences and erratic melodies flood the mix, twisted and pulled around with
clever modulation and use of FX to carve out an energetic dance floor journey
with hints of euphoric nostalgia throughout. The title cut 'Golden Pills'
emulates a progressively intensifying sprint. Ethereal melodies and
unwavering drums create an ever-increasing sense of urgency, dissected by
ominous vox chops, atmospheric breaks, and a sea of instrumental flare from
start to finish. 'I Just Wanna Rave' has 'warehouse track' written all over
it. Furious drum work and minimal accompanying percussion set the base of the
track, paving the way for an onslaught of shuddering synth layers and
electrifying bass tones that keep you stomping until the last beat. 'At All
Costs' cuts a sinister line from the outset. Its striking selection of
infernal musical layers make the perfect match for a potent beat structure
and catchy vocals, leading into a continuum of peaks and troughs, steered by
crescendoing snare rolls and huge throwdowns with gripping melodic
progressions either side |
