Maria invites sitar virtuoso Bert Cornelis, double bassist Jens Similox
(Orchestre Collone), the multi-talented Boris van Overschee (Okon, Delv!s),
and drummer Lander Gyselinck (Lander & Adriaan, STUFF.), on their second
album' Koinonia' out this October on San-Kofa Rhythms Records. “Cinematic
electronica embraces intelligent Indian infused beat making” Belgian beat
collective Up High Collective return with their new album 'Koinonia.' Their
second full-length comes five years after their debut album in 2018. For
'Koinonia' they have invited Belgian iconic drummer Lander Gyselinck (STUFF.)
and several other guest musicians. The first single 'Koi' is available now,
the record is set for release on Wednesday October 11 on vinyl, Bandcamp and
via all digital platforms via San Kofa Rhythm Records. "Going with the
cinematic tides of sound: first single 'Koi' features compelling South-Asian
sitar, imminent strings, drums by Lander Gyselinck and carefully constructed
beat making." Spearheaded by producer duo Koen De Petter and Renaldo
Maria, this record is Up High Collective’s most ambitious music project to
date and has been in the works since 2015. The name of the record - Koinonia
is Greek for "fellowship" or "community" - refers to the
intense and inspiring interplay between the collective and several musicians
they invited to contribute. Raw analog recordings and beats by the producer
duo, brimming with imperfections and samples from original Indian music, laid
the foundation for live studio sessions by Bert Cornelis, one of the few
sitar players in Belgium, drummer Lander Gyselinck (Lander & Adriaan,
STUFF.), double bassist Jens Similox (Orchestre Collone) and multi- talented
bassist Boris van Overschee (Okon, Delv!s,). From their intrinsic penchant
for deconstruction, the live elements were cut up by the producers, heavily
rearranged and presented as new sounds. After several sessions in their Up
High Studio (Leuven), carefully constructed collages gradually started to
form with all of its layers filling the deepest corners of the sound space.
The result is a record that balances perfectly between cinematic electronica
with complex harmonies to get lost in and solid club oriented beats with
crunching textures and off the grid rhythmic patterns. "All of these
songs share an underlying, invisible force bound by the intense interplay and
mutual inspiration between us and the live musicians |

Formed in 1961 when Dennis
Wilson, the only Beach Boy to regularly visit the beach, asked his brother
Brian to write a song about the sport of surfing. The Beach Boys reached
number 75 in national charts with their first single (the resultant song
'Surfin') and were immediately signed to a major label. Though many debut
albums in the early '60s were mainly built around a few smash-hits, the Beach
Boys' 1962 full length debut on Capitol (featuring such hits as 'Surfin'
Safari', '409' and their version of the Eddie Cochran classic 'Summertime
Blues') remains one of the greatest first steps in American pop culture, and

Ahemaa Nwomkro, which means
queens of Nwomkro, are Victoria Osei and Theresa Owusuaa. Nwomkro is an old
Ashanti musical style, which played an influential role in the origin of the
typical more roots-like Highlife style of Kumasi, the cultural capital of
Ghana in the middle of the jungle. On this release the two singers have
teamed up with the young generation of Highlife muicians of Kumasi. On guitar
is Akule Pepe, who served for years in the group of Highlife legend Alex
Konadu, the most on demand band in its time. The two songs are a rare example

known as James Lascelles’ Quartet, Talking Spirits present a unique blend of
world jazz. These highly respected London based session musicians - with a
very mixed repertoire - have touched audiences wherever they play. The
quartet mixes up world music, folk, jazz and Anglo/Caribbean grooves,
inspired by influences from all over the world. They have honed their skills
over the decades working with some of the biggest names in music, including
Frank Zappa, Joan Armatrading, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, L Shankar, Ginger Baker,
Jeff Beck, Steve Winwood, Incognito, Van Morrison, Billy Ocean, Mick Taylor

Emerging
from the ashes of Ireland's early rave era - that had been absorbed into the
vastly commercialised club scene of the late '90s - was an oft forgotten, but
exceptionally fertile period for electronic music in Ireland. Spearheaded by
the then Dublin duo of Decal (later becoming the solo project of Alan O'
Boyle), nurtured through nights like Phunk City at The Funnel, Model One at
Switch and at a later point midweek club haunt Electric City, an unlikely
Irish electro movement was born; breeding an abundance of new labels, parties
and producers hungry to make their mark. "Dreams of Electric Bleep"
revisits a crucial time of development (1999-2005), when production standards
on the island of Ireland rose in perfect synchronicity with the collapse of
the music industry as we knew it. While Detroit, The Hague and London heavily
influenced the sounds heard in the clubs, clubs in pubs, warehouses and great
outdoors of Ireland - it was producers from Belfast, Cork, Donegal, Dublin,
Limerick and Mayo who created the first significant chunk of high-quality
Irish electro, demonstrated here over a range of styles (originally released
on a variety of local and international labels). This double 12" release
- featuring key tracks from Decal, Magnetize, Metroneem, Americhord, Phil
Kieran, Takeover Sound, Chymera and John Braine - comes on picture-sleeved
coke bottle clear vinyl, and includes a download code. Designed by Jonny

been deck slaying as near their London headquarters as Germany and as far as
Canada, goth techno prodigy Lesser Of is steadily approaching double digit
release count. With an established residence at queer x trans focused,
revolutionary event series Subverted, their efforts have been welcomed to a
formidable list of industrial electronic labels and remixed by a tidy sum of
high profile scene icons. Here at Depth.Request our sonars are attuned to
emanant potential, and so we conscript Lesser Of to hammer out our fourth
acetate offering to date. To this, harsh noise and drone music inspirations
are declared, alongside an artistic secret of the trade: lights-off sessions
in live room of a recording studio vibrating with the pulse of a bass guitar
ran through a freeze pedal were what begot the tracks, and they are well
intent on assaulting your headphones with noise. Reeko on the remix - yes,
this record fucks. Prolonged, ominous intro? Nah. Have a face full of Crude
Manifestation Of Power instead, as an insatiable, 10-minute long opener
braces your ears for a week of ringing with a sonic equivalent of metallic
thrashing one could expect from being a sinful, rave-lusting scoundrel. On
title-diverting continuation Within My Fragility the words "strength in
fragility" are truly alliterated as the pace, abrasiveness and intensity
of pummelling are all ramped up fiercely, with linear open hats thrown
against them from time to time for good measure. Having reached 140 BPM and
concrete mean, Masked proceeds in a well anticipated ra(n)ge: infernal
atmosphere, sandy hats and layered tectonic tremors achieved with
increasingly undefined low end consisting of a rumble line and rolling kick
morphing into abrasive haze. Winding the tempo back a notch, a
halftimearranged contemplation Our Descent grows in direct, hyperborean
vector: glassy drones and sharp syncopulsation first - atonal reverberations,
distorted arpeggios and punchy stabs endwise. Reeko's analog reinvention of
Masked convolves the drum structure by borrowing from breakbeat narratives
and authorizes the dystopian ambiance to rise and fall on more gradual,
panning, confined terms; adding, however, more disorder to the mix with
spectrum slicing, high-range chaos. As you would have learned to expect from
Depth.Request, Within My Fragility EP is not an easy listening five-tracker.
If by the end of it you find yourself feeling as if you just stepped out of a
pounding warehouse at 3AM and you don't know what day it is, you wouldn't have
been experiencing this mindspace alone |

Mill' is considered as 'Exile on Main Street' in The Drones' discography. It
is the third studio album by the band and was released in September 2006.
Recorded in an abandoned mill in Tasmania, it was their last album to feature
founding member Rui Pereira and the first to feature Mike Noga on drums. In
2014, Flavorwire included the track 'Sixteen Straws' on their list of
"The 50 Best Album Closing Tracks Ever". In 2021, Rolling Stone
Australia listed Gala Mill at number 155 on their list of "The 200
Greatest Australian Albums of All Time" (one of two Drones albums on the

artefacts: comics, films, music, exhibitions... continues to bring together
creators around the Black is Beltza universe. Now it is Ainhoa, the

tracks. Side A opens with El Gran Silencio, from Monterey (Mexico) with their
cumbia-vallenato-norteño punk and the collaboration of Fermin himself and
closes with Joseba Irazoki's apotheosis version of the mythical "Sarri,
Sarri, Kriston martxa dabil". The rappers La Basu (Basque Country) +
Wöyza (Galicia) + TESA (Valencia) in 3 voices and 3 languages claiming their
power with the song "Rap is Beltza" open the B-side, and
"Bizitza triste eta ederra", a song that appeared on the album
"Ustelkeria" (1996) by Negu Gorriak with the voice and guitar of
Iñigo Muguruza, now and after his death and with a strong hip hop rhythm, it
becomes a meeting between the two brothers, Fermin and Iñigo, closing this
great jewel released on vinyl at 33 RPM, and with spectacular art, the work
of Mr. Zé from Valladolid. |

Returning
fresh off of his last project 'Goes On EP', Darone is back with another
12". This time, his project pays homage to two places which he calls
home. A juxtaposition of his birthplace, Los Angeles, and where he feels a
strong connection, Armenia. The A-Side features 'Dance of the Sun
Worshipers', which was written with the petroglyphs of Ughtasar and the
Armenian Stonehenges of Syunik in mind. The henges in question were set as an
astronomical observation tool to view the Milky Way Galaxy by the ancient
natives of the land. Parts of the petroglyphs have carvings of beings dancing
around a wheel of fire. A representation of the Sun or early signs of the
Armenian Eternity Wheel. The B-Side features 'Far Away' by Sassounian and a
remix of the same track by Byron The Aquarius. Far Away was written at the
height of lockdown, with a local collective of the same name in mind.
Operating as a cassette label, mixtape series, and party, Far Away was based
in Los Angeles, run by Cooper Saver and Jen Ferrer. Darone would frequently
attend their events in Los Angeles and find comfort in a community that he
can call home. On remix duties, Byron The Aquarius delivers a raw and chuggy
tip to Darone's track, 'Far Away'. A dub of the original, Byron programs this
one into a full and thick driving force for the dance floor and the heads.

Club is without doubt one of the top new labels on the Breakbeat scene today.
Led by the young and highly prolific Cadiz artist, FM-3, it was set up in
2020 with a strong identity and powerful, effective dancefloor grooves
inspired by English bassline and 2step/garage and a touch of funk. On this
first vinyl release by the label, entitled Funky Beats, FM-3 kicks off his
musical discourse with One for Me, a track which showcases the characteristic
quality and forcefulness of his groove. This is followed by the album
eponymous track Funky Beats, a collaboration with the multiple Spanish and
World Scratching Champion, Jose Rodriguez, who dazzles with a number of
superb passages in which improvisation and funk come to the fore. The B-side
opens with Panorama, featuring Orak. This fascinating, highly-experimental
track offers a fusion of breaks and tech house and an elegant acid line which
acts as a common thread and brings cohesion to the whole idea. The record
closes, as you would expect, with a collaboration with Bowser, another of the
label regular artists, entitled Bubbling. A classic bassline dancefloor
filler, it will take you back to the best tracks of the late nineties and

skittering shaker-hat combos sneak up while its distorted signals increase in
intensity, culminating into a high-intensity finish. 'The Drama' then
features wonky vocals and gorgeous psychedelic soundscapes, closing out this
quality, tripped-out package with dancefloor energy found both late at night
and the early mornings. After making his debut on Mote-Evolver via label boss
Luke Slater's 'Rip The Cut' remix package, SCI+TEC founder Dubfire now teams
up with the fellow techno lynchpin for 'The Dissent' EP. Rolling and dubby,
this collaborative three-tracker follows up Slater and Ø [Phase]'s recent
RoogUnit release on the label and continues with boundless layers of
interwoven, mind-warping techno sounds key to an imprint housing scene
legends such as Rene Wise, Steve Rachmad, The Lady Machine and many more.

techno talent Regent is next up on Mutual Rytm as he returns with a
compelling new five-track 12" titled 'Coral Knife', plus a digital bonus
cut. Regent emerged only in 2020, but has fired out quality tunes on Planet
Rhythm Records, Arts Collective and Warg Records since then. His already
extensive catalogue of standout releases combines tough and rapid grooves
with cerebral qualities and a real depth of writing and sound design,
resulting in timeless yet avant-garde material optimised for the dance floor.
For that reason, he is one of the new forces emerging from the German capital
and why his next EP, 'Coral Knife', sees him find a perfect home on SHDW's
Mutual Rytm imprint as he returns with his first 12" on the label
following his appearance on the 'Federation Of Rhythm II' compilation earlier
this year. The tight and funky 'Brickyard' opens with a high-speed groove and
a taught synth riff darting about the mix to seductive effect, before
'Driftage' gets more raw with rickety percussion over bulky drums. The synths
are dubby and liquid as they get smeared about the mix to bring dynamism to
the groove. There is then darkness and heaviness to 'Nocta' with weighty
kicks and alluring vocal sounds drifting through the late-night airwaves.
Title track 'Coral Knife' cannot fail to sweep dancers off their feet with
its fizzing synths and smooth drum loops overlaid with icy hi-hats that get
you into a meditative state, while 'Encoder' layers up bleeps and squeaks
over a signature linear groove that is detailed with muffled vocals and
distant cosmic stars. As always with Mutual Rytm, the package rounded out
with an impressive digital bonus in the form of 'Multiversa' - a driving and
thunderous techno cut that closes the show emphatically. Regent 'Coral Knife'

Recursor
finds its lane from the opening title-track. On the quicksilver 'Recursor' we
get Drexciyan punch, a needlegun bassline and staccato arps offset by eerie
washes of synths. There's a tension between the two elements of the track,
and this yin-yang combination means that' Recursor' will work equally well
for both the rave's darkest corners and also the euphoria of a sunrise set.
After the title-track begins the record at breakneck speed, 'Pulsar' puts
proceedings into cruise control. There's still enough punch in the drum
programming to ensure that 'Pulsar' will deliver in the dance, but this
mid-paced tune is dominated by its warping bassline and keening keys, all of
which comes together for a pretty and strangely wistful number. 'Pulsar's
energy persists into following cut 'Phase Function, though there's a
twitchiness to the bassline here which gives this track a nervier, more
neurotic feel. As well as the golden age of Detroit electro, you're also
looking at Silicon Scally and Annie Hall as ballpark references, though
there's a winning idiosyncrasy to the production here which is all NULLPTR's
own. The groove which kicks off the second half of Recursor is one of the
most focussed on the whole EP - 'Seil' has a bassline which moves with the intent
of a heat-seeking missile. When combined with the distant snap of 808s and
twinkling arps, the whole thing very much maintains the shadowy feeling of
'Phase Function', and it's an energy that Recursor rides into 'Stone Tape'.
'Stone Tape' boasts another stellar bassline, but rather than the low-end
barrelling forward intensely as it does on 'Seil' the bass here skips all
around the mix, pleasingly erratic and playful. 'Portal' is an apt title for
Recuror's sixth and final track. Indeed, the whole vibe of 'Portal' makes it
a perfect closer for this EP of detailed electro jams. This tune really does
feel like a portal being opened, the bass and drums busying themselves on the
floor while chemtrails of synth in the upper-end of the mix intimate something
enticing beyond the threshold. Sparky yet sleek, Recursor is the latest fine
