Recorded in New York in 1957
(though not released until 1962), 'Tijuana Moods' was, according to Mingus
himself, 'the best album i ever made'.The music is a vigorous stew of Mexican
rhythms and sophisticated post-Ellington arrangements, further invigorated by
the soloing of trumpeter Clarence Shaw, trombonist Jimmy Knepper, and,
particularly, saxophonist Shafi Hadi. Mingus's vision of Tijuana was clearly
sensual, the music evoking strippers, frenetic street scenes, and
heart-broken lovers. Making use of suite like thematic material and various
forms of counterpoint, the group sounds much larger than it is, and points
toward Mingus-s later experiments with form. the bristling sound and spirit
of the music, however, are its primary attractions - a remarkable place where

Nirvana's first European tour
began in October 1989. The "Heavier Than Heaven" tour as it was
subsequently named was a reference to the power of the music and also the
weight of front man Tad Doyle of co-headliners Tad. The intense tour schedule
consisted of thirty-seven shows in forty-two days in nine countries leaving

Lesser-known punk band Cyanide
formed in the northern cathedral city of York in 1976, the four lads based at
the Old Priory Youth Club. After cutting a couple of demos soon after their
formation, in time the band's reputation was such that they were playing the
Roxy in London and during their rapid ascent, the quartet managed to score a
contract with major label Pye for their self-titled debut album, recorded in
December 1976 and produced by Ron O'Shea, who ironically got his start with
orchestral easy listening. A fun set of tongue-in-cheek first-wave punk
originals, the album also includes a spirited cover version of The Who's 'm A
Boy.' |

Walter De Buck, oprichter van de
Gentse Feesten, volkzanger en beeldhouwer, liet tijdloze volksmuziek in het
Gents na. Violist en componist Guido Schiffer en zanger Pieter-Jan De Smet
namen het initiatief om die liedjes een frisse injectie te geven. BUCK – wat
zowel de naam van de groep als van de plaat is – koos voor evergreens uit het
De Buckboek, maar vist ook prachtige minder bekende nummers op. De muziek is
kleurrijk, met vaak een heerlijke mix van strijkers en blazers. En vol
plezierige en sprekende accenten. Gentenaar en muzikant Pieter-Jan De Smet
zingt in een onvervalst en smakelijk Gents, met veel inlevingsvermogen en
expressie. De aanstekelijke arrangementen van Guido Schiffer en Reinhard

Wave Acid Punx DEUX is the second compilation for Eskimo Recordings compiled
and curated by Berlin-based Musician and DJ Luca Venezia, aka Curses, to
explore the darker side of club music. Spread across 3CDs and three 2LPs Next
Wave Acid Punx DEUX features a mammoth 49 tracks that join the dots between
early industrial pioneers Throbbing Gristle, EBM legends like Nitzer Ebb and
the post-punk experiments of people like Malcolm McLaren and Big Audio
Dynamite with some of the most exciting artists around today, such as Boy
Harsher, Nuovo Testamento and Years of Denial. Where the first Next Wave Acid
Punx compilation was a personal journey for Luca, a lockdown inspired
exploration of his record collection to find the thread that ran through the
music that had soundtracked much of his life, DEUX is a celebration of that
music let loose on the world, the thrill of music performed live, the smoke
and strobe filled clubs you'll hear it in and the artists you'll find on
those stages. "After our enforced break, getting back out there and
playing live again really brought home to me so much of what I love about the
scene I'm in but also just how important live music has been and is to club
culture over the years," Luca explains. "Too often we think of club
nights and live gigs as these separate things, but throughout the years it's
where the two meet, the friction that can cause, that you'll find the most
vibrant scenes." "There's an energy, an atmosphere that you get
with live music, an unpredictability where at any moment something can go
wrong or even better right in a way you never expect. I think about a live
set we played at a Lebanese festival where our MPC drum machine froze up
because of all the dust and sand trapped in the pads. We had to improvise
half our set, jamming bass and guitar and pedal FX and vocals, embracing this
surreal environment and experience, something that could only happen in the
moment." "With Next Wave Acid Punx DEUX I wanted to celebrate those
bands and artists, past and present who, to me, represent that spirit. Both
full live bands and makeshift electronic duos alike, the kind of acts that
you might have found wedged between DJs back in the day at The Hacienda in
the 80s, Trash in the 00s or today at nights like Berlin's MILK ME, EXBTN in
Paris, Night Terrors + SC&P in London, New York City's Synthicide or
Ukraine's Worn Pop. So I've put this compilation together much like my
favourite kind of night, going out to see some bands play, hitting up a club
where live music and DJs blur together, before the serious business of the
after party. On Chapter 1 you'll find bands like Vicious Pink, DAF and
Cabaret Voltaire, some of these acts are more obscure than others, some
flirted with pop and even the charts but they were all embracing new ways of
working in the late 70s and 80s that both set them apart and set the scene
for much of what we think of as club music. Chapter 2 moves the night on, and
this is the sound of the clubs I love to both play and just hang out in these
days, clubs where the people involved put a lot more time into digging
through the crates than working on their Instagram Reels. These are places
where you're as likely to find a band on stage as you are a DJ, where 80's
German electro pop by a band like Boytronic seamlessly flows into tracks like
Silent Servant's Non Fiction. Timeless music that can be romantic, dreamlike
and ethereal one moment, then veer into dark, industrial sounds the next |

Shcuro who strips things back to assert what truly remains however much time
may pass. 'It Lasts Forever' is the producer's ode to structural things in

wife; his reverence to techno - hence the use of classic drum machines like
Roland's 909, 808 and 707; to friendship and community - having one of his

2020, 12 Inch Lovers has embarked on an exhilarating journey, characterized
by sold-out parties and samplers that have built a loyal fanbase. These
samplers consistently find their way to collectors in search of contemporary
classics. Samplers 7 & 8 once again constitute a collection of true
classics, rare gems, and club tracks that have never before appeared on
vinyl. Sampler 7. A1) Let's kick off Sampler 7 with a classic from 2010.
Gregor Salto and DJ Gregory joined forces to create an infectious club track
that is still played by some of the biggest DJs in the scene but is rarely
found on vinyl! A2) The next banger from 2002, produced by the German duo
Studio 45 pres. Joe & Jessey, is based on the sample from "Bell
& James - I Love The Music" from 1979. An absolute must-have for
house music enthusiasts! B1) Originally an indie-pop song from 2004,
"Shooting Star" by Deepest Blue got a fresh new sound with the
"Dirty Radio Remix," which has never before been released on vinyl.
It's an extremely catchy club track that will evoke memories for many. B2)
With "Perfect World" by Emissary, we take you back to 1997, a
golden era for trance. This track perfectly captures the sound of that time,
with a great sense of rhythm and emotion. A favorite among trance and vinyl
collectors. C1) Daan has become an icon in the Belgian music scene, and
"Swedish Designer Drugs" from 2002 showcases his talents. Whether
it's electronic music or pop, Daan excels at it all. This track was
frequently played in Belgian (after) clubs and is now a true classic in the
Belpop and club scene. C2) While Lemon8 may be best known for "Model
8", "Demon Disco" should not be overlooked. This groovy track
from 2007, with influences from trance and disco, fits perfectly among
forgotten classics and has now found a new home on this sampler. D1)
"See Ya" by Effin & Blindin is a delightful track from 2006
that has become a classic in the Belgian club scene and beyond. With an
infectious bassline, euphoric melody, and a great rhythm, it's all you need
to set the dance floor on fire. It's a shame that this track has never been
released on vinyl before, but we're rectifying that now! D2) "Der
Alte" by Kölsch is one of those tracks where you can never go wrong.
Whether you're a house or techno DJ, this track fits perfectly in any set. A

Last
summer the idea came up that the material of the Chillum Trio live act, which
had been matured for years by then, would deserve a release on its own. The
concept was to try to reproduce the experience of the live performances as
close as possible, so a semi-mixed album was created, on which the seven
tracks work separately, but the effect is best when listening to the record
in its entirety. The musical world of Random Rituals is crazy dense and
colorful, similar to Chillum Trio's previous releases, an exotic mix of
contemporary electronics, world music and club sounds;s still, it has a
unified character, which is due to the fact that it has grown from a live set
that has been constantly developing over the years. Genre-wise, it is
characterized by low-tempo, organic desert house, tropical acid drops, deep
dub, hypnotic tribal beats and psychedelic episodes. Just like genres, eras
and cultures are mixed as well: from the jazz-funk of the 70s, via tribal
trance of the 90s to modern deep house, from Peru to Pakistan, from Sudan to
Senegal: a real musical journey through space and time. Géza Szekeres, the
heart and soul of Chillum Trio, summed up the essence of the record as
follows: "Random Rituals shows me the paradox that recharges can be planned
and ad-hoc at the same time. Rituals are characterized by a predictable
scenario, but the effect can also be unexpected, so that events spin without
a score. You don't walk into the ritual, but it comes to you, creating the
same state that then fills you up." |

In
the early 1960s, two of the best talents in the Indonesian music scene,
songwriter and band leader Adi Karso, known for his hits "Papaya
Cha-Cha-Cha" and "Balonku" and Gambus musician Munif Bahasuan
teamed up to form Orkes Melayu (Malay Orchestra) Kelana Ria. Between 1961 and
1964, Kelana Ria recorded 48 songs that were spread over four records,
Kafilah, Yam El Shamah, Ya Mahmud and Ya Hamidah, which become the primary
sources for this compilation. These four recordings changed the trajectory of
Indonesian popular music. Play "Renungkanlah" (Think About It),
included in this compilation, a love song with heavenly melodies and lilting
harmonies, to an audience in the Western part of Malaysia or people of Malay
ethnicity in Singapore and they would immediately hum along the tune.
"Renungkanlah" has been covered by many countless other musicians
in Indonesia and Malaysia and it has become a hit many times over. The song
has become a go-to song in karaoke bars in the region, with fans oblivious to
who actually wrote this song or who performed it the first time. Or take the
song "Ratapan Anak Tiri" (Lament of a Stepchild), a song that has
traversed national boundaries and has become a universal sad song in the
Malay world, turning into a shorthand for melancholia that permeates this
archipelago of nations. Another stunner is the melancholia-laden
"Kesunyian Jiwa" (Silence of the Soul), an operatic tune so
majestic that it could open any black and white Kurosawa film from the late
1940s. "Kesunyian Jiwa" opens with marching percussion and what
could pass for a horn section foregrounding an opera finale before settling
into a Latin-inspired composition backing one of the most soulful vocal
performances from the 1960s. The songs and the soulful vocal performance
belong to Muhamad Mashabi, who despite the popularity of the songs he created
is now largely forgotten, whose history was kept alive only in the
neighborhood where he grew up in Central Jakarta. With only a short musical
career and only nine recorded songs from almost 40 compositions, Mashabi fell
by the wayside in the early 1970s, especially with the rise of pop and rock
from bands like Koes Plus, Panbers and God Bless. Yet his songs, inspired by
Malay traditional songs but performed in the modern studio setting, lay the
foundations for what would become the biggest musical genre in the country,
dangdut, especially the kind that was popularized by the self-styled king of
the genre, Rhoma Irama. "Mashabi's distinctive vocal style and
soul-searching lyrics helped give rise to dangdut, Indonesia's most popular
music genre," University of Pittsburgh music professor Andrew N.

Swiss-born
pianist Camille-Alban Spreng, who has resided in Brussels for over a decade,
has been active since 2010 in a diverse range of bands and projects within
jazz, improvised (electronic) music, art performance and theater. He can be
seen on stages all over Europe and trained at various conservatories with
renowned players such as Emil Spanyi (HEMU, Lausanne), Eric Legnini and Kris
Defoort (CRB, KCB, Brussels). Together with his regular band ODIL, he has
already released two records: 'Something' (QFTF Records - 2016) and 'RESON'
(QFTQ Records - 2019), with the collaboration of Leïla Martial, and Valentin
Ceccaldi on the latter album. ODIL operates from Brussels but, with in its
ranks a pivotal figure with Swiss roots, a French drummer and an Irish
saxophonist, is a band with international allure. Nina Kortekaas' unique
voice is also an absolute asset. His third album, titled
"Unheimlich," will be released on W.E.R.F. records, one of
Belgium's finest jazz not jazz labels. The new album sprung from
Camille-Alban's fondness for Allen Ginsberg and the beatnik movement. Poems
by Ginsberg are provided with music, notably "Pull My Daisy"
(co-written by Jack Kerouac and Neal Cassady at the time) and "White
Shroud," with the approval of the rights holders/heirs. The lyrics that
Camille-Alban himself wrote for the album exude the same beatnik vibe. In
that sense, the new work is also an homage to Allen Ginsberg. "I love
his way of writing: it's funny, twisted, quirky ánd spiritual,"
Camille-Alban said. "I couldn't think of a better title for the new
album. 'Unheimlich' doesn't translate. The black cat in the lobby of a creepy
hotel in 'The Matrix,' I think of that image, that atmosphere." ODIL's
music has a narrative character and in terms of form, the compositions are
not ordinary. Impro plays a role and the music is unmistakably characterized
by a contemporary jazz aesthetic but at their core the compositions are also
songs, a unique feature. 'Unheimlich' is a jazz album that can be listened to
just as well as a pop rock album |

142bpm bomb full of fast rolling drums and screaming synths, this
collaboration between Belgium based artist TWAN and Dahryl from United
Kingdom, is a furious dancefloor destroyer. A2: Mickey Nox - Switching
Horsepower: Classic industrial hammer by Mickey Nox from Australia. A crazy
4-4 techno track with his famous stomping kick, strange FX sounds, chopped
with some glitchy voices. Sounds like an unstoppable engine. B1: Tripped -
Fat Load: Tripped demonstrates the perfect mix between hardcore and techno
into this track, using his famous and indescribable style. Industrial
hardcore and destroyed 909 gabber kickdrums, scary synths, amen breaks and
terror atmosphere. B2: 14anger - Bachman: Heavily distorted bass-line,
overdrived kickdrum, an acid break and some electrical noises: Bachman is the
latest 14anger
banging track. This raw industrial techno track definitely brings some
oldschool rave vibes to this project. C1: Draugr - Discipline: A dark and
groovy track by Draugr. He brings his famous threatening atmospheres, spooky
bass and catchy drums on this one. Crunchy kickdrum, radar noises and a
perfectly chosen speech about order and discipline. C2: Hel.IV - Brave &
Thick: Hard, dark and punchy as usual, let's introduce Hel.IV from Paris.
Deep and hard kickdrum with catchy drums patterns surrounded by a screaming
distorted vocal sample, and an epic and menacing synth. D1: Ogmah - No
Feelings, Pure Wrath: New harsh and scary bomb by Askorn's founder, Ogmah. A
slashing and industrial beast with some shrill highs drums, creaky and
industrial FX sounds, and a long break with scary vocals about sins. D2:
Hatelove - Snakebyte: A slow and dark track with a deep as hell atmosphere,
produced by the one and only Hatelove from Poland. Full of filters
automations, psycho and spooky noises, banging drums and crazy sound design.
Angering af. The artwork is an engraving by the artist Daniel Girault from
Brittany in France. This is the result of a dark and disturbing abstract
design engraved on a hard metal surface, made by cutting grooves into it with
differents sharp tools. After being drowned into an acid bath, this metal
plate is finally pressed with black ink on a thick paper sheet |

Conundrum
Records is back for its third installment, presenting the sophmore release
from label head Stephen Disario. The "When They Fall EP" showcases
three original tracks alongside an exceptional remix by SYXT/Glukkon Records
boss, Ketch. A long-standing and respected figure within the lively Los
Angeles music scene, Stephen's signature stripped-back and pulsating sound
takes center stage right from the outset. This EP further solidifies the
burgeoning label's reputation as a distinguished hub for top-tier techno.
Starting things off is "Filling The Void", a moody and otherworldly
track with a rolling groove and sharp percussion. The echoing, almost
chant-like pads wrap you in a mysterious atmosphere, creating a sense of
curiosity and anticipation. The title track, "When They Fall",
takes a more lively direction, driven by rhythmic percussion and spacey
blips, along with a swelling bassline that adds extra depth and movement. The
B side of the EP features Ketch's remix of "Sixth Sense", where
urgent percussive elements blend over a steady low-end foundation, guided by
a strong kick drum that pushes the track forward with unwavering
determination. Bringing the release to a powerful conclusion is the original track
"Sixth Sense", in which Stephen increases the energy, skillfully
using ride cymbals and on-beat claps to highlight moments of high intensity.
All of this is done while working within a more limited range of sounds,
showcasing his ability to create captivating sonic stories within a
controlled framework |

a longer break, Marko Nastic is back with a new Easy Tiger release that was
surely worth the wait! This time, Marko is bringing us three banging tracks
that are inspired by the comeback of the 90s club sound with a cosmic touch
to it. The opening track, "How to Create the Vibe Around", is an
old-school roller with a punchy drum and a heavy bassline. Dreamy and
trance-inspired synths will push you to the dance floor, and the acid sound
will make you move. While you're vibing, the vocal is sure to hit the spot
and complete this journey. "An Ode to the Executioner" is the beast
of this EP. Starting with crazy modulations, it creates an euphoric energy
that is fulfilled with a fat bassline and a straight-on techno beat.
Uplifting acid and trance vocals keep us in a rapture state of mind.Last but
not least, "Cables And Rain" continues the party with an old-school
drum loop and a groovy bassline that reminds us of Marko's recognizable older
production. Coloring this banger is a refreshing flute melody and a
repetitive vocal. And of course, the wrapper of the track, once again, is the
acid sound that is sure to lock you in place |

Mr. Cool aka Louie Fresco aka El Cabrone has some heat right here. Get it-
heat, cause he's from Mexico City, and cause the ep is Picante. Pride is some
dank ass bassment shit right here. Percussive grooves for days, mind melting
sounds and a nice tripped out vocal to round it all out. Pride has a modern
minimal shuffle, and that swingy greasy percussion that the Mexicans do
so well,its even low rumble that hits just right in the booty. A perfect
combo of blended brains and brawn! On the flip we have the K-Dot. I hope it's
referencing some new drug that is microdot acid and K combined in a mind
warping 250Mg tablet. This song sounds just like that, mind bending, face
melting grinding madness, it rolls and rolls and evolves and evolves. Put
that record on and just watch people make twisted faces and dance like they
are puppets getting their strings pulled. Mr. Cool nailed this, and I
question his sanity, and life choices. Nobody normal makes music like this.
If you don't like this record now, you probably will in 18 years when it's
the jam all over again cause a 65 year old Raresh drops it at Sunwaves 309.
Mind you if we keep this global warming shit up, all our vinyl gonna melt.

On My Own Terms
/ Time, a new non-label created for Yorobi's self-released projects. The
first ep "Projection Palace" features 4 tracks across various
genres and tempo's. From bass heavy breaks and house to sound along the
hardcore jungle continuum. The name of the ep refers to a psychological
principle of "projection", whereby you project certain (negative)
qualities onto others without them being necessarily right. Quite often the
projections say a lot more about the person who's doing the projecting rather
than the person on the receiving end. The idea then was to make an EP that
revolved around this theme. The palace bit being a metaphor as if you were a
house which would show you all these mirrors which are wonky and distorted,
like a fun house on a fairground |

Since
2013 Subotage Records regularly releases fresh and independent bass music
songs. In the last years the label has made a good name for itself and at the
end of 2018 the first vinyl will be released. Berlin's Ziplokk is now on
Subotage for the fourth time and can place two timeless tracks on SUBV01.
"Seen" is an great oldschool production and now in 2018 the future.
With his endlessly programmed bass line sliding rigth and left between static
drum patterns, "Seen" is a real headbanger before diving into a
deep pool of timeless elements deeper than a Fjord in Norway. J: Kenzo turns
it into an absolute remix monster. You should immediately get an ambulance
after listening to this song. The sound system will go crazy. Tight drums, a
bobbing bass line and these driving percussions catapulted "Seen"
already to the hot parties and was played by Seven, Mentha, After Dark,
N-Type and many more. "Right Up" gives the EP a thoroughly positive
overall impression with its cheerful stepper beat, screaming and tripty
trumpets and endless delay feedback that makes the song bite your ears. Keep
