Volume
3 of the TRUST XY recombination series again sees four unique artists channel
sonic echoes from the label's past. Stenny is up first, the Italian producer
whose name is synonymous with Ilian Tape's much acclaimed crossover of techno
and bass music. He complements the deep pads of Versalife's 'Nova Prospekt'
with a scorching bass line and rolling breaks programmed in his unmistakable
style. Canadian producer and Planet Euphorique label owner D.Tiffany is a
champion of complex percussions and an obvious choice to rework Alex Cortex's
percussive electro anthem 'We Run Your Life'. Her take chops and warps
Cortex's vocals around a twitching techno beat that's both experimental and
effective. Side B has UK electro and breakbeat pioneer Clatterbox return to
TRUST, reshaping one of the very first Microthol tracks into modern form. At
his hands 'Intertronic' turns into a bleeping and hissing, snarling and
growling electro bass monster. Lastly Delsin's dub master and TRUST alumni
VC-118A takes on 'Tides' by /DL/MS/, replacing the original's sparse funk
with a low slung dub techno groove that serves as the foundation for
perpetually cascading ebbs and flows of lush and dreamy soundwaves |

city of Sheffield, Mau Maus were reputedly one of the first British hardcore
bands, first comprised of frontman Chris Taylor, guitarist 'Lev' Levick,

German artist Erobique, known for
his improvisational spirit and irresistible disco anthems, visited drummer
and producer Max Weissenfeldt in his Ghana-based Joy Sound Studios. Erobique
immediatly teamed up with the local musicians to cut some tracks. Together
with Philophon artist Florence Adooni, he created the catchy tune "Mam
Tola", which Florence sings in her mother tongue Frafra. The swaying and
swinging outcome is an example par excellence of Afro Soul. On "Bach in
Afrika" you hear Erobique how he converts some deep down Kumasi-style
drum and bass jam into a frenetic Baroque ceremony by masterfully operating
the Hammond "Extra Voice" with some reminiscence of J.S. Bach |

In October of 1994, shortly after
the death of Kurt Cobain, Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl re-entered Robert Lang's
Seattle studio, where Nirvana had conducted their final recording sessions.
Intending to create demos of his own material, over the course of a week
Grohl would commit his ideas to tape. Except for some guitar assistance from
Greg Dulli (of Afghan Wigs) on one track, Grohl would literally become a
one-man band during these sessions, writing all the songs, playing all the
instruments and singing all the vocals himself. Recorded at Tramps in New
York City, these musicians served as both an opening act and as backing band
for Mike Watt *on his tour promoting Ball-Hog or Tugboat?). Experience the

Tin
Fingers takes on a darker, melancholic direction on their second full album.
Felix Machtelinckx' weeping vocals, preaching, searching, and trying to
understand God, form the leitmotif. With rich melodies, haunting piano
sounds, improvisations, first takes and no overdubs, Tin Fingers is searching
for pureness and keeping things human and simple. The band is playing
together intuitively, without a computer, without ego, just for the sake of
music. The creation of the album was very fluent and spontaneous. Singer
Felix wrote the backbones of the songs and the lyrics on acoustic guitar and
piano. He wanted to have songs ready in order to be able to record and write
arrangements fast. With an eye for details but without overthinking, keeping
the ideas fresh. 'I wanted to stay in love with the music.' he explains. 'It
needed to go fast, very fast, in just two weeks the entire album was recorded
and ready to be mixed.' In the studio, the band especially focused on picking
the right mood rather than playing the right notes. They were fed up with
working on a computer for many hours, overthinking production choices, and
adding instruments on top of each other as if they were Lego blocks. This
time they decided to work in a more traditional way, going for first takes,
jams, and essentially working with analog gear. No computers, no screens, no
distractions. Only four humans in a studio trying to make a sound together by
keeping things spontaneous and raw. They said goodbye to perfection and
worked towards an unfinished product, a snapshot. Tin Fingers also didn't
want to sound like any other artist on this record. They decided not to
listen to music during the sessions, and to never express ideas by
referencing other bands. Just before the studio session, however, bass player
Simen Wouters broke the rules and shared Bonnie 'Prince' Billy's, I See
Darkness. Its dark and searching sound ended up inspiring the band
unmistakably. Once the recording was finished, the band decided to keep the
volatile rhythm going and asked reputable NYC-based mixer and producer D.
James Goodwin to finish the job. Goodwin, known for his analog folk
productions with a real American punchy sound but a tender touch, proved the
right man for the job. He opened up the songs and kept things poetic, minimal
but impressive |

Five
trombonists and a three-member rhythm section: that sort of unique musical
synergy is what Nabou Claerhout brings to life with her own Trombone
Ensemble. For years, such a project had been one of the dream projects on her
bucket list, and thanks to Antwerp based cultural actor Rataplan, she already
saw the creation become a reality in spring 2022. In the summer of that year,
the eight-piece ensemble opened both Gent Jazz and Jazz Middelheim. In
January 2023, Nabou was artist in residence at the Brussels Jazz Festival in
Flagey, where she presented the Trombone Ensemble as one of three carte
blanche projects. In a sold-out Studio 4, American trombone legend Robin
Eubanks joined the line-up as a special guest, having previously also
contributed during the studio recordings of the young collective during. The
band's self-titled debut album will be released on November 3rd 2023 via
W.E.R.F. Records. Nabou composed the entire repertoire for this Ensemble
herself, and did so with a fully open vision. While writing the music, she
explored the trombone's wide possibilities: "The aim is to both indulge
you with warm, soft, carrying parts and then afterwards discover the
trombone's spicy and cordial character." That rhythmic playfulness,
which we hear more often in Nabou's compositions with her acclaimed quartet
N?BOU, also seeps subtly into this band's sound. Despite the 'unusual'
line-up of five diverse jazz trombonists, each with a different background,
you still get to hear a very homogeneous sound, which is full of playfulness
and small details. "I tried to make room and focus for each individual.
And of course there is also a starring role for the rhythm section with
guitar, double bass and drums." When Nabou started looking for the dream
fellow jazz musicians for this project, she ended up with artists from her
own country, Belgium, but also from far beyond the country's borders: The
Netherlands, the UK and Germany. "In selecting the trombonists, I looked
for specific timbres, but also for personality. It is important that there is
a good balance in playing together, but also that each musician is strong
enough on his or her own for the solo parts." Wanting to push boundaries
in her approach to both compositions and the trombone as an instrument, the
real crème de la crème of the newest generation proved indispensable. "I
selected a handful of European trombonists with whom I may or may not have
already played, but who, above all, inspire me very deeply. They are all
young people who have a lot to offer and already have significant projects to

and Beatport which highlighted some of his music. John Lagora doesn’t fit the
usual techno sound. No, this guy has a unique style of his own. With this
release Lagora proofs to be a versatile producer. On Deep Breath he shapes up
the perfect banging techno tune for peak time play! Get Down is a dirty and
raw cyber-techno-funk nugget to please all those who like their grooves fat
and nasty! Gladiator is a fantastic minimal work-out in the same vein as
Fortek colleague Stefan Tretau. Subliminal deep and well balanced.

If there's one lesson we have
learned from 2008, it’s that techno is not nearly creepy enough. On Creep EP,

Skatebard
is one of the very best Classic Techno producers from Norway since the early
2000's - the distinction from others simply lies within his sense of melody,
rhythm and live arrangements. The 2002 release ''Skateboarding Was A Crime''
on Tellektro had a clear thread of Detroit Techno and Electro, a craft and
influence that also heavy club hitters ''Conga'', ''Ta-Ta Arr'' and
''Emotional Bits'' on Sex Tags Mania strongly carried. It's unarguably always
a ''classic touch'' in his dance music, but still it always sounds like a
Skateb?rd production - there is simply no blueprinting in true inspiration.
''Spektral LP'' has been compiled and edited by DJ Sotofett with material
from Skateb?rd's 2001-2005 recording archive. In short it's recordings nobody
else cold get a hold of ? fine tuned and restored into a synergetic and
consolidated world of riding, mechanical and electronic funk - released on
Skateb?rd's own Digitalo Enterprises. Tracks ''Seventh'' and ''Vaskemaskin''
are both cymbal driven Techno cuts by the former metal drummer, one with
chorded synth stabs growing in harmony, the other leaning on a dark sci-fi
pad and a flipped vocal loop. There's a bit more of Skateb?rd's vocals on the
beautifully robotic ''Ei Anna Framtid'', an alternate take of ''Future''
which Finlands Keys Of Life released in 2003. DJ Sotofett's mix of ''Den
Anarkistiske Anode'' is nothing but a distorted head-schredding basement
Techno blaster, while ''Strengje'', ''Bassi'' and ''Spektral Elektro''
punctuates the catchy Electro & Italo grooves Skateb?rd crafts so much
better than most current producers |

Senselessness
1/2 is the very first solo issue of the Swiss electronic composer Robin
F?lix, on his own label De l?Aube (Of Dawn), the occasion for him to prove
that field recordings can be (or should be ?) a integral part of the global
matter, when so often they are just something hovering in the background
because it?s ?nice? or reminds the artist of a place he loves. Throughout the
length of these four tracks, they are litterally central ; moreover, they are
electronically transformed, manipulated, skewed and twisted in order to form
some sort of framework, a backbone on to which sounds and genres intertwine.
On Cluster, violins and cellos (recorded in the gardens of the Venice
Biennale) are soon transmuted into the abrasions of the electroacoustic realm,
until the pulse of a relentless bass introduces a pure and pristine
electronic music that knows and uses the roots of dub, drum?n?bass and the
meticulousness of Jan Jelinek?s Glitch aesthetics. A tad ?housy?, Chi comes
as a second pulse where a modified didgeridoo and African percussions
(recorded in a Swiss forest) lead the listener to a sort of tribal mode, as
suited to dancers than to those who prefer inner journeys ; here, the spatial
dub of King Tubby moves from background to foreground. The more abstract
Boiler verges on the IDM and the heady, elegant and spartan Detroit techno ?
headphones reveal its numerous minute and delicate details. Based on the
recording of insects, of which one can hear the actual rubbing of elytras,
the closing Swarm ends the record with and intricate blend of ambient, which
in some way winks to the Aphex Twin and The Future Sound Of London. Overall
Senselessness 1/2 is a mesmerising and concise update of the famous Deutsche
elektronische musik of old, that gathered on its way the other genres that
made Robin Felix tick. Since field recordings have hardly been that
meaningful, one wonders where Senselessness 2/2 will lead us to |

23 years since the 2nd. He lives at building number 23 in Skopje. MDKs ticket
exploded. He can not return. This is NOT_MDK's first album. NOT_MDK is
exploring ideas with depth, in depth. Every track is Grime and 140 BPM. Grime
is a genre that covers a huge area of sound A fixed tempo is a gravitational
well of coherence That is to say: Martin Wood-Mitrovski is a musical lifer -
someone whose enthusiasm cannot be dimmed by time. The Coventry-raised
polymath first came to public attention in the late 1990s as a keystone part
of the Spymania crew, which also first showcased Squarepusher, Jamie Lidell
and Cassette Boy. Even among such esteemed company, Martin's two albums, one
EP and various collaborative contributions to the label stood out for their
audacity and variety. Detroit techno, death metal, bleak ambient, golden age
hip hop and dozens more sounds besides made implausible sense next to each
other, and bleeding into one another. Now, though, relocated to the Balkans,
returning to album making after over two decades of only sporadically
slipping tracks out, Martin has taken an entirely opposite approach to genre.
This album is entirely built around instrumental grime. But it's built with
such finesse and a scholar's knowledge that there's still extraordinary
variety within that. Subsets of OG 00s grime producton - Eski, Sino-grime,
breakstep, sublow, and sounds with no name at all - are threaded together
with the finessed modernist abstractions that came together around London's
Boxed club in the 10s, and also with electronic predecessors. The ghosts of
jungle, of bleep'n'bass, of warehouse techno, of various flavours of garage,
leave traces through these tracks - or maybe he's waking those ghosts in the
grime. It's a perfect fit for Belgium's W?M? Records. The label has always
specialised in artists who get to the deep fundamentals of acid, electro and
other pillars of electronica - and here, Martin has shown the wiring that
were always there connecting those things into grime. It's a record where
Timbaland and Terror Danjah, Nightmares On Wax and N.A.S.T.Y. Crew, Kraftwerk
and Kromestar all operate on a plane of consistency. But it's no intellectual
exercise or history lesson: the sounds and patterns here are there because
they work - they sound spectacular coming out of big speakers. That's what
it's always been about. Whether carving up genres in the Spymania days, or
distilling them now, whether MDK or NOT_MDK, before all other considerations
it's all about a joyful noise |

Dalmata
Daniel welcomes Filmmaker and Petros Spatharos for the eighth part of their
split series. This obscure 3-3 track vinyl is the debut of the Columbian
music maker on the label. However, for the Athens-based producer it's a
return after his participation on "Dalmata Daniel eats Lahmacun"
compilation. But this project isn't their first collaboration, because Petros
released his first album on Body Musick, Filmmaker's own imprint. Filmmaker
probably doesn't really need to be introduced to those who are comfortable
with contemporary underground music. In less than five years he has composed
and released a huge and relevant oeuvre by himself or on labels such as the
UK-based Opal Tapes, Dutch Tartarus, Greek Phormix or the German Veyl, etc. To
add Dalmata Daniel to this list is kind of a dream come true for the label,
because they have been following his musical journey since the beginning. And
no doubt, his side of the vinyl is another testament to his already perfected
sound. What you recognise from the first moment of this noisy, industrial,
sometimes dissonant ebm driven electro, infused with a film noir atmosphere
and total darkness. While on the flip side, Petros Spatharos keeps the
obscurity going, which is the real link with his split partner's music. Only
his sound is clean, not chaotic, but rather underworld techno with an
extremely restrained tempo and some beyond-the-grave acid screams. That's how
this inferno journey will be complete with full of dark emotional atmospheres
and hypnotic textures |

Speed released their debut in digital format on the Distorsion Records in
2016. Since then their sound has gradually evolved, as their productions have
served to mark a turning point in today's Breakbeat sound, making them a
leading name throughout the genre on the international stage. As you would

first started out. On this first disc, DIST001 in the new Distorsion Records

All Of Us' is the fourth album from liquid funk pioneers Technimatic, and the
first on their own label 'Technimatic Music'. Since joining forces in 2007,
Peter Rogers and Andy Powell have become key players in the world of musical,
emotive drum & bass. Their rich back catalogue covers the cream of

T aka “The Raggamuffin Queen” will release her sixth studio album “The Louder
The Better” on October 13, 2023. A combination of live band studio recordings
and digital compositions, it took only 3 years to fully realize from the very
first live band recordings in Brazil during the 2020 pandemic to its release
this year. Entirely self-produced with her own music label Renegade Masters
with Kunta as executive producer, Soom T called on her most trusted
collaborators to produce this new Reggae/Dub gem, and it’s sunnier than ever.
“Path of the Wanderer” with its poignant and deeply emotive vocal,
irresistible rolling bass line and driving rhythm was composed by French
production maestro Tom Fire with “Ezekiel’s Vision” and “Michael” being the
fruits of live band recordings at Pangea Studios in Sao Paolo Brazil under
the skilled direction of Mauro Rabello. “Fly My Bird” and sunny pop anthem
“Good Will Come” are original compositions by Terry Vibes out of the USA
while “Bad Road”,“Emergency” and “Normal People” were stylised digital
productions by France’s own Dr Bud reminiscing on Soom T’s first love of
digital. Additional synths were added by executive producer Kunta and studio
partner Green Teddy of Highly Seen. “Prophets”, “Free the Man”, “There is
love”, “No worries” and “Don’t Make Me” composed and curated by Christian
Cowlin who is the live sound engineer for The Wailers USA, takes the journey
into a more roots direction with some solid harmonies and flashbacks to a
bygone era. Many of the instruments on these songs were performed by Mr
Cowlin himself among other seasoned musicians and recorded at his studio in
the UK. Led by her great respect for activists whose aims and efforts are
rooted in making society movw forward with dignity and honour, Soom T
denounces the incarceration of businessman/politician Schaeffer Cox, unjust
in her eyes and tens of thousands of others globally, in a call to “Free the
Man”. If “The Louder The Better” has definite roots influences, “Like a Dog”
composed by French label and music production studio Irie Ites and “Walk the
Earth” performed by legendary British drum & bass duo Mafia & Fluxy,
added some more digital delight alongside a sweet roots trip for the listener
to indulge in a medley soup of varying influences throughout this album,
