"It was late 1999. I was
living in Palm Desert with Dave Dinsmore. Dave had just left Unida and
Alfredo Hernandez was in town and had just left Queens Of The Stone Age. I
had a rare bit of downtime from touring with Fu Manchu. The three of us
started jamming at the house. I had just got over a bad relationship and
songs were pouring out of me. Frank Kozik heard about us jamming and called
me up and said he wanted to put out whatever we come up with. Within two
weeks we were already recording on an 8 track reel to reel. I took the
recording to brother Shneebie to mix in LA. He said the music is great but
the recording is shit. He asked to re-record it. I asked when? He said now.
We re/recorded right there on the spot and finished everything in 2 days. We
decided on the name Ché and called the record 'Sounds Of Liberation'."

heartfelt, warm, and uncomplicated songs. "In the collaborative journey
of crafting the songs on Waving, our different creative approaches brought
about a unique synergy. We feel the result transcends our individual styles.
Each song resonates with our individual aspirations, which makes playing them
very refreshing and challenging." Stripped to their core, these
compositions on their debut EP are defined by the gentle interplay of
acoustic guitars and harmonious vocals. Only subtle percussion and the
occasional cello add subtle layers to the sonic tapestry. The two recorded
the six songs on their debut EP by themselves in the intimate atmosphere of
Sam's home studio, opting for a DIY and back-to-basics approach. Their

Buddhas, who went towards pure acid 303 territories in his haunting track!
Shakta brings back some sunshine with his funky uplifting "Expedition To
Earth"! Now after this first part of the CD come two of the most famous
Goa-trance names ever: Astral Projection & MFG! They both do what they do
best: creating wonderful melodic soundscapes! Sensitive, emotional &
harmonious trancy music for people that want to feel a sunny dancefloor
through music! Then RA mixed his known euphoric type of melodies & chords

snapshot in time...Where all the madness began... Sandwell District. In the
summer of 2004 David Sumner (Function), then living in his native New York
City, was over in Europe playing some shows. When passing through Berlin to
play the old Tresor location at Potsdamer Platz, he stayed with long term
friend and collaborator, Karl O'Connor (Regis). One afternoon the two head
over to Hardwax and T++ puts on a copy of Sleeparchive Elephant Island. After
months of discussions regarding the flavor of the moment "Minimal",
everything changed in that instant...They looked at each other and said
"now this changes everything!" Finally, a way forward! Later that
night at Tresor - as Function is playing, Regis is behind him organizing a
mic...As Dave mixes Regis Guiltless with Elephant Island, Karl starts singing
a punk cover version of Buddy Holly Peggy Sue over his set. It's all there in
that one moment! Sandwell District. Dave goes back to New York inspired. He
sees there's no information on the record apart from an email address. So, he
gets in touch...He gets a reply from Roger, the two hit it off and organize
the first ever Sleeparchive remix - Regis Asbestos (Sleeparchive Remix). On
the B-side comes a cut-up version of Karl and Dave's Portion Reform classic
Closing In, where they collaborate with Detroit Underground's Kero to form
Re:Group. Adding deep 808 rhythms combined with Kero's signature Max MSP IDM
madness, Left provides the perfect counterpart that made this EP the instant classic
it became 18 years ago. Now, remastered in all its glory, sounding fresh,

Brown. Who doesn't know about the godfather of soul Who doesn't know about
the milestone anthem Cold Sweat' Maybe there is nobody, but we are sure that
many of you don't know that hidden on that particular song, and in all of
James Brown's productions, is one of the best kept secrets in soul music:
Mrs. Martha High. She is the one who sings that crazy soprano note at the
very beginning of the song and she is the one who sang behind James Brown for
about 35 years. She was with Brown and the Jb's in Boston on the infamous
night after the Martin Luther King assassination, she flew with him in the
dangerous Vietnam skies to entertain the US soldiers, and was also in Zaire
celebrating the Rumble in the Jungle' between Ali and Foreman. Martha was
truly a friend, confidant and supporter of the godfather of soul. Maybe she
was just too young and shy to jump over the other soul divas to ask for a
solo record. Today is different. singer of Maceo Parker's band but now she is
on fire because finally, she has recorded the album she never made but always
wanted to make. 11 killer original tunes produced and arranged by Luca Sapio,
the Italian soul ambassador, in true analog super sound. The tunes evoke the
best productions of the golden era of Southern soul as well as the sonic

One
of the greatest reggae singers of all time, Dennis Brown made an incredible
impact during a career that spanned four decades, his reign cut short by his
tragically early death from a collapsed lung in 1999, aged just 42. First
released in 1995 under the title Take A Stand and also known as Temperature
Is Rising, the album Love Is So True was expertly produced by Anthony
Dehaney, alias Bunny Gemini, at the Record Factory studios in Kingston, then
home to some of the better dancehall being cut in Jamaica. Along with
saxophonist/arranger Dean Fraser and the Fire House Crew and hythm Twins' Sly
and Robbie, the featured musicians include the stalwart keyboardist Ansel
Collins of "Double Barrel" and "Stalag" fame, guitarist
Lascelles Beckford and bassist Danny 'Axe Man' Thompson of the Gifted Roots
band, trumpeter David Madden of Zap Pow, and keyboardist Dennis ah D' Fearon.
The keen musicianship brought forth by these players helped coax the best out
of Brown on songs such as "Never Let Your Heart Be Troubled," which
rides a tough re-cut of the "Full Up" rhythm, and "Temperature
Is Rising," on a durable re-cut of the "Far East"/"Jah
Shakey" rhythm: "A Little Respect" makes use of a bouncing
update of "Pressure And Slide," the meditative "Sea
Shore" is on a great dancehall cut of "Real Rock" and the
anti-rude boy "Gangster" is voiced on a beautiful dancehall
interpretation of "Freedom Blues." There's even a dancehall take of
the Beatles' "You Won't See Me," delivered as only Dennis Brown
can, as well as a likeable re-make of Dennis' own "Have You Ever |

fourth Exposure Series release is upon us. If you have not heard, the
Exposure series is our signature compilation series that features multiple
artists and is pressed on vinyl for the most discerning DJs and collectors.
'Linear Radiance' gathers together 4 extremely hot artists in the scene for
one special 12'. The EP begins with 'Raizel' by the hot newcomer Grush. This
early set builder is smooth in the constraint it has rolling along in the
sweet spot. A beautiful jaunt that is rich and fluid. Next, is the amazing
Philipp Priebe. 'So Glad' is another Priebe heater. A very talented producer,
you can always count on him for great dancefloor business. The melody sneaks
up on you as it builds from deep within. A sublime and subdued corker! 'Sonic

political techno, punk, bubbling and IDM, Linh Luu and Marvin Lalihatu
consistently translate their visions into sensitive productions as well as
high-octane live performances. On MERDEKA, the artists explore and embrace
their cultural heritage in all of its pride, pain and complexity. It
symbolizes Animistic Beliefs' breaking free, coming to terms with their
changing selves and letting go of external expectations. The record rethinks
childhood memories, confronts the generational trauma left by
(post-)colonialism, and re-connects Linh and Marvin ? respectively of
Vietnamese-Chinese and Dutch-Moluccan descent ? with their formative
cultures. MERDEKA marks their first step in an overall departure from western
club music. For its layered sound, Animistic Beliefs once again draw from the
past, present and future of global club music, creating a sonic space where
fast techno, warped breakbeats and ambient soundscapes make way for the
augmented influence of (Southeast Asian) tribal music. The record
incorporates Indonesian scales and recordings of the Tahuri (a wind
instrument made out of a conch shell), Totobuang (Gamelan-like gongs) and
Tifa drums, known as ?the Moluccan heartbeat?. In true Animistic Beliefs
fashion, MERDEKA will set fire to sweltering clubs and (sleepless) dreams.
Yet, for the artists, it is essential to amplify the stories that spark that

Nous'klaer
Audio and Sound & Vision's RE:VIVE initiative have teamed up for the
third and final LP in their film scoring trilogy. Capping off with a
soundtrack made for a progressive, angular take on a color-soaked, geometric
educational archival film. Combined with a soundtrack for a film that is a
personal intensifier to the city of Rotterdam, which is the home of
Nous'klaer Audio. The collaboration invites two musicians to compose for
these archival films from the collection of Sound & Vision, the national
media archive of the Netherlands. This final instalment features through and
through Rotterdammer, Kems Kriol and the Amsterdam based Turkish composer,
pianist and DJ Loradeniz. Kems Kriol accompanies the amateur documentary
collage film "Rotterdam in de Jaren 90", a dark period of strife,
economic and social crisis for the now booming metropolis, with the
compassion and empathy of someone who experienced those years first-hand but
with enough time removed to reflect with heart. Loradeniz angularly and
precisely moves her way through the delicate film "Tegenlicht", a
surprisingly colorful and fluid educational film about painting, a bold
juxtaposition that propels the film into the 2020s. Extended info: Side A,
Tegenlicht (English: back lit) is a 1969 education film by Ton Gramsbergen.
The short meditative film, follows stained glass artist Leo Hofman through
his entire workflow to create beautifully abstract stained glass window
panes. Loradeniz?angularly and precisely moves her way through the delicate
Tegenlicht creating a bold juxtaposition that propels the film into the
2020s. Employing processed vocal work, deep dry kicks, and jarring
percussion-- reminiscent of scratching glass-- Loradeniz's haunting modernization
suits the cinema and the club equally, a testament to the rising composer's
fluid versatility and creative prowess as a musical pantomath. Side B,
Rotterdam in de Jaren 90 directly contrasts the zoomed in artistry of
Tegenlicht. The amateur documentary Super 8 footage captures Rotterdam in one
of its most tumultuous times from police brutality, poverty, drugs, violence,
racism and the city's ongoing architectural modernization. Kems Kriol, who
lived in Rotterdam during this time period, brings a deeply emotional weight
to the Ed Millecam amateur documentation, as an artist with the compassion
and empathy of who experienced those years first-hand but with enough time
removed to reflect with heart. Kems Kriol's influences from modern and avant
garde composers, jazz, acid bass lines and field recording Kems Kriol made at
different locations featured in the film equate to a musical collage wholly
comparable to the city's diverse population. The prior installments in this

‘Afrobot and Steven Pieters’ who deliver the perfect message of love. The
artist ‘Strange’ then provides us with his stunning Indian style Charanjit
Singh rag reworks. We then have raving madness from Goa’s finest ‘Deka’ whose
track ‘Dance with me’ was a secret weapon played at a number of major
festivals over the summer. Flip it over to side b, we have ‘Thee J Johanz’
providing us with the perfect intro/outro tool for DJs (lets face it, there
is simply not enough good ones on vinyl!) We then have ‘Sintaro Fujita,’
Ballyhoo’s best Japanese friend, delivering sharp and mystical vibes with his
track ‘Are We Still Friends.’ Last but by no means least, snake charmer ‘Sid
Ua’ slows it all down leaving us in a trance like state with his stunning
track ‘Feels Familiar.’ Weird and wonderful music from a fabulous bunch of

The
latest compilation album from COD3 QR is, as always, focused on eclecticism,
open-mindedness, divergence and non-conformity, featuring the usual wide
range of electronic music, all handpicked by Laurent Garnier and Scan X.
Calibre (Belfast-born Dominick Martin) should need little introduction. A
painter, multi-instrumentalist, singer, writer, producer, DJ and general Drum
& Bass don, with over 19 albums under his belt, opens up the release in
fine style with the dubby "Sump Dub". French DJ and Electro-Techno
composer Seroplexx follows with "Alerte Rouge". Originally from an
acoustic background, playing guitar, trumpet, drums, piano and clarinet he
soon fell in love with electronic music and discovered modular synths.
There's more Techno in the form of "Timeline" by Costello, a
versatile French electronic music producer, artist and DJ known for his
cutting-edge sounds and technical prowess. His standout tracks have captured
the attention of underground stalwarts as well as mainstream giants. Heading
in a Leftfield direction next is Marcelus with "Forward". Also
hailing from France, he impressed early on with releases on DJ Deep's Deeply
Rooted House before Tresor came calling. He describes his music as "personal
and honest". Staying with French producers, Subground 3000 delivers some
Deep House on "Sound Migration (Lee Trax Garage Remix)" as well as
the digital bonus track, "Little Reminder". Heavily influenced by
Soul, Funk, Hip Hop, Electronica and Cold Wave, he has previously released on
the likes of Frequency Shift, Naeba, Nice & Nasty Records and more. In a
more Detroit style is "Cosmos" by Jim Rivers. Crossing the many
bridges between House and Techno, since his Saw Recordings debut back in
2006, he's gone on to release a plethora of music and remixes across notable
labels including Intec, Renaissance, Bedrock, Tronic, King Street and Faith.
Hailing from Yorkshire (UK) and Amsterdam (NL), the dynamic duo of Melatron
& Ancient Artefact are modern pioneers of the Punk-Electro sound.
Melatron brings raw energy and gritty productions, while Ancient Artefact
weaves intricate electronic textures to form an electrifying sound on "I
Get My Kicks" which closes the vinyl EP. A second bonus track rounds off
the digital package as Oliver Way (EPM's co-founder and Detroit Grand Pubahs'
Mr O) and Dany Rodriguez (LINK Audio and LINK Festival creator) join forces
again for the melodious Techno of "Third Act". COD3 QR wants to
remain free of all expectations and all prejudices because only one thing

music artist with over 150 releases under his belt, Mark Broom is best known

Carrera's connection to Broom has seen him release on Beard Man, as well as

Following
a string of unavoidable releases in only the past two years with
unprecedented international support, Brussels' own Altinbas returns to Token
with a second release entitled 'Spirit Moves'. Recognisably full-bodied
tracks, riddled with classic techniques yet designed for the modern
dancefloor, Altinbas offers intention in the age of impulsivity. 'Presence'
opens the EP, easing the listener into what has become Altinbas's marque de
fabrique. A steady, round low-end eggs us on to zip through vast celestial
bodies, with euphoric inclines and cloudy descents. Traveling through
'Presence' is fluid if anything, establishing an introduction of boundless
dimension to a record made with precision. Following this opening, Altinbas
re-focuses his attention to centric rhythm. Bold, toned percussion makes for
an infectious groove, instrumental in the most efficient way possible.
Swapping drum machine sequences as an arrangement, the Belgian producer
presses on to the second side of his project with the title track 'Spirit
Moves'. Taking yet another turn, the third part of the EP focuses on playful
synth work with raspy hi hats; a seemingly randomized arpeggio runs along a
head-bobbing rhythm, scattering melody for tension. Having departed from
depth in the middle of the project, Altinbas comes full circle for the last
chapter, 'Blue Lace'. A return to stabby dub-like synths spread out in the
stereo image make for a club record reminiscent of German classics. Mixing it
with an eager tempo and present drums over a glossy ambience, Altinbas closes
his second solo contribution to Token records by reaffirming the value of his
sonic identity |

returns to his Primal Instinct label with 'Modern Survival' Following the
widely praised Funk Assault (Chlar & Alarico) 'Minimum One Post A Week'
EP, which kicked off the Primal Instinct label last summer and won the
support of the likes of Rodhad, Tasha, and Luke Slater, as well as routine
plays from Sarah Story on BBC Radio 1, Chlar now returns to his imprint with
solo venture 'Modern Survival'. While the first Primal Instinct release saw
references to artist urges and behaviours on social media, this next
instalment explores a modern recontextualisation of humanity's hierarchy of
needs in yet another high-concept EP. First up, 'Internet Soulmate' boasts a
crunchy bassline as its drum work chugs along the track playfully. The groove
twists and turns before the hypnotic and tribal 'Supermarket Hunting'
continues with sounds of nature, loopy rhythm and syncopated bleeps. On the
B-side's 'Body Control Officer', human-made grooves intertwine with
machine-like thrum, synths whirring and zapping, while 'Competitive

Vera
Logdanidi is one of the founders of Rhythm Buro and has been a key component
of the label and parties series' development and success. Today we're excited
to announce her first-ever solo release with an EP entitled 'Banksia'. The
Ukrainian artist's music career has spanned over the past 20 years, this is
her first release on the Rhythm Buro label in 6 years. Her roots stretch back
to the bass scene (which at times are rather palpable), but more recently
she's been hard at work honing her craft under the house and techno umbrella.
The Rhythm Buro project was founded by Vera, along with Oleksandr Pavlenko
(aka Na Nich) and Igor Glushko (who runs the label offshoot of the project),
Vera now steps up to highlight her own expression and vision of deep dance
music with 'Banksia'. After previous appearances on labels such as Semantica,
On Board Music and Corridor Audio, she has developed a signature set of
soundscapes that can be attributed to her productions: deep, dubby, ethereal
and trippy, with lush wide open spaces; yet notably polished and
genre-agnostic. On the EP, Logdanidi has three original works and a remix.
The title track on A1 is a great sample of Rhythm Buro's endeavored sound;
groovy and hypnotizing. Following the A1 is a track called 'Root System',
which continues this theme with a bit of a brain melter that showcases Vera's
love for all things dubby. 'Essence', the B1 on the flip side, takes the
listener on a journey through Logdanidi's housier side yet continues the
theme adeptly. Closing the record, and bringing it to its logical conclusion,
on B2 is a remix from deep techno maestro, Claudio PRC. Having played at one
of Rhythm Buro's events in Kyiv previously and being a like-minded individual
turned friend, Claudio is poised to make his debut on the label as well. A
perfect match indeed! |
