In the early '80s, Dutch band
Nadagen carved themselves a niche in Amsterdam's post-punk scene, where
nihilism was a call to arms. Their name translates to 'aftermath' or
'twilight years', reflecting their existential outlook: their songs offered
prophecies of impending doom, echoing their belief in the imminent end of the
world. Nadagen's minimal instrumentation and shouted lyrics convey a sense of
rebellion, denouncing the consumerism and so-called decency of the era.
Despite a brief existence, they left a legacy that resonates in today's
troubled times, making their records a gleeful experience for all the
long-standing doomsayers out there |

to the summer and autumn of 1998 when Bryn Jones AKA Muslimgauze, the
politically conscious music genius from Manchester, discovered Species Of
Fishes' albums through the Dutch label Staalplaat. Jones embarked on a
journey of reinventing the Muscovites' tracks, infusing them with hypnotizing
noise pulsations that were both harsh and sharp, yet profoundly humane, while
evoking ethereal Arab echoes. The original remixes became the inaugural
release on Species Of Fishes' self-titled label in 1999, with a limited
circulation of 500 CDs. Another edition was later released in the United
States in 2007 by Tourette Records, with a circulation of 1000 CDs. The first
edition featured a selection edited from the original DAT cassette,
accompanied by minor revisions, while the second one faithfully reproduced
the entire studio session, providing insight into the creative process rather
than focusing solely on the final result. In this new reissue, Species Of
Fishes have curated the tracks, discarding repetitions, unsuccessful takes,
and technical pauses. The result is a more dynamic compilation that retains
the core elements of the original work while reducing the total duration by
almost half. 'Trip Trap', 'Some Songs of a Dumb World', and 'muslimgauze vs
species of fishes' comprise three chapters of Species Of Fishes' album
triptych, which unveils the originality of the Russian duo, pioneers of the
unparalleled electronic scene who were ahead of their time |

Apryl Fool, who imploded after producing an album and an EP for Columbia
Japan in 1969, bassist & keyboardist & singer and main creative force
Haroumi Hosono and drummer Takashi "Rei" Matsumoto formed Happy End
with guitarist Shigeru Suzuki and guitarist & singer Eiichi Ohtaki. The
new group's self-titled debut, released in 1970 on URC, the pioneering
independent label founded by guitarist Hayakawa Yoshio (initially as the
affiliated imprint of mail order company, Underground Record Club), evidenced
more cohesion than the Apryl Fool LP, instead of the lengthy, excessive freak
jams of the earlier set, Happy End's track list took the form of more easily
digestible slices of Japanese psychedelia, the understated drumming perhaps
referencing Matsumoto's veneration of The Beatles. Of course, with song
titles that translated as "Unflyable Sky" and "Enemy Remember
Thanatos!" the music was certainly adventurous. The group would continue
for the next few years, before Hosono began to concentrate on solo work, as
well as various side projects, which would culminate in the formation of
Yellow Magic Orchestra |

- Synergy: A long-awaited release for seasoned fans of the label familiar
with ASC's DJ sets since creating Spatial, Synergy has been requested for
release many times and is finally here - and it hasn't aged a bit. A track
which lifts you gradually through a true journey of escalating, dynamic
atmospheric soundscapes with crisp detailed break patterns that ebb and flow
to an intricate collage of synths, keys and vocal hits to an inquisitive
melody. A stunning piece which somehow has something new to offer each time
you hear it. A2 - Suspended Animation: Conjuring an ethereal feeling with
grand atmospheric backdrops reminiscent of early Intense, Suspended Animation
is a calming yet suspenseful track which slowly builds with expressive break
patterns and minimal kickdrums as subtle basslines rumble below. Long echoing
effects and melodies gently nudge the proceedings forward, ASC once again
showcasing the diversity of his production toolset. AA1 - Repetition: It's
been a while since a pure two-step drum loop has had this much impact - make
no mistake - the breaks of Repetition will bore their way into your brain
like Pulp Fiction did in the mid 90's with a thumping kickdrum and stabbing
snare tweaked to perfection. While the beats drive the track along, a collage
of audio texture surrounds them with a signature female vocal sample closing
out phrases filled with finely tuned synthwork. AA2 - Pharaoh: Landing with
immediate impact and building the mood with a subdued urgency, the Hot Pants
breaks of Pharaoh surf the dunes of sound to an abundance of sheer atmosphere
as ASC crafts a stunningly evocative track which is aptly titled,
transporting the listener to mystical Egyptian sands, the synths and horns
whispering like the echoes of of a bygone era demanding their timely reprise

2019 debut LP ‘For The Ones...' saw Yelfris delving deep into his Yoruba
religion and its shamanic chants, subtly infusing those deeply personal
elements with electronica and live instrumentation creating a beautiful

trumpet he adds depth without losing his power and tenderness. Manifesting an
adventurous and experimental shift in his composition, drawing on his

cosmos-weaving trumpet melodies, fuzzy keys and psychedelic textures at their

The A side contains the track “Always”, featuring Clive Hylton
on vocals, who delivers a timeless reggae track. Clive Hylton (a.k.a. Colour
Red) is a veteran Jamaican singer who amongst others worked with Lee Perry at
Black Ark Studio back in the day. On the B side we find the track “Always
Dub”, a dub version mixed live by Ojah that takes us into a different
territory, making the listener appreciate sounds and layers that were half
hidden on the vocal version. We are also releasing a melodica version called
“Forever” (ALDBS7018) over this riddim, featuring Nik Torp from The Specials.
Hand-stamped and served in a thick custom reversed kraftliner sleeve.

Michael
George Henry (aka Ras Michael and, for this lone release, Dadawah) was born
in 1943 in Saint Mary Parish, in northeastern Jamaica. Henry was raised in a
Rastafari community when the religious movement was still in its infancy and
marginalized within Jamaica. It was there that he began performing
Nyahbinghi, the Rastafarian devotional music that combines the influences of
African drumming and Black gospel. Henry found himself in Kingston in the
late 1950s where he worked for Coxsone Dodd at the legendary Studio One. By
1968, he had formed the group Sons of Negus and the first overtly Rasta
record label, Zion Disc. As Rasta filtered into the mainstream, Henry
released more music including albums for Trojan, Dynamic and Grounation
labels. Originally released in 1974, Peace And Love - Wadadasow is Dadawah's
magnum opus. Produced by Lloyd Charmers, the album features slinky basslines,
wah-wah guitar, hypnotic keyboards, dubbed-out studio trickery and, of
course, the propulsive drumming and rhythmic chanting characteristic of
Nyahbinghi. Antarctica Starts Here presents the first widely available
domestic release of Peace and Love - Wadadasow. This reissue is part of an
archival series that focuses on Trojan's essential '60s and '70s catalogue.

One
of the most popular and high profile of Jamaican reggae vocalists, Gregory
Isaacs was a rough diamond who clawed his way out of the harsh western
Kingston ghetto with an instantly recognisable voice that was wonderfully
emotive, expressing both his toughness and determination for betterment, as
well as the bleeding heart of a vulnerable lover. New Dance is one of the
excellent mid-1990s dancehall albums expertly produced by Anthony Dehaney,
alias Bunny Gemini, working as usual with the Firehouse Crew, this time with
Fatman Thompson of King Tubby's studio at the mixing desk and guitarist
Lascelles Beckford of the Gifted Roots band as special guest. As usual,
Gregory rides the rhythms with considerable aplomb, feeling completely
natural atop the hard-edged rhythms and tackling a range of topics along the
way. Much of the album deals with love lost, love gained, and love deferred:
'Say A Special Prayer' revamps the evergreen 'Send Me The Pillow That You
Dream On' and 'New Dance' salutes the allure of dancehall music in the open
air. This is one of Mr Isaacs' better offerings from the mid/1990s, worth
getting to know if you're not already familiar with it, and a must-have if
you've worn out your original copy |

It's
now almost two years since German producer Sawlin made his debut on Ann
Aimee, but now he is back for a third EP on the Delsin sister label. Entitled
'Niedertracht', it features four more tracks of searing techno in truly
uncompromising Sawlin style. 'Kontraktion' goes first with heavy metallic
hits, lots of industrial machinery found sounds and thumping kick drums. It's
lumpy, mechanical and stiff stuff that is slow and purposeful. The surface of
'Padjam' is then covered in squirming, scratchy little effects as syncopated
drums swing deep down below. Eventually the thing gets fleshed out with some
malfunctioning melodies and slurred vocal stabs yet still it sounds like no
other techno out there. 'Niedertracht' takes up the b1 with a spangled techno
track that has gurgling synths and fizzing drills all encased in a ravey
arrangement of horns and windy howls. The broken sounding 'Weisshaupt' is
made up of metal loops, punctured drums and rasping synths that sound like
factories in melt down. This is truly inventive electronic music that's laced
with a very real and unmistakable sense of industrialism, and proves Sawlin
is one of the day's most exciting producers |

of our mysterious artist this time. Dark Rain is a great modern techno track
in the vein of Omar S but with the production skills of Martin Buttrich. The
track is a slow building track with a crazy bass line that goes on and on, a
dirty off beat hi hats that sets the pace, and dark keys on top of it. On AA
side we have Faderpushingsunday which is a deeper and much lighter track with
a wobbly funking bass line that reminds of early Dexter productions. Perfect

his own initiative he made two remixes of the Syncom Data technohit Beyond
the stars, which resulted in the smashing Syncom lock and Heat of the storm
mixes and his immediate signing on their label. Both mixes are guaranteed to
rock any dancefloor, whether it’s crowded with techno, house or electroheads.
Guilliaume is one of those rare artists who doesn’t fit in one genre, which
he proves with Fucked up and Old skool. Two stunning tracks that hoover
between different styles with ease, the endresult being nothing less than

The
83 label is a byword for musical quality, professionalism and hard work.
Since its first release in 2016, it has ceaselessly discovered the very best
new breakbeat talent and music, becoming what many consider to be the leading
label in the genre. For its debut in physical format, the label's head, Raul
Bautista, aka GUAU, has produced a self-titled 12" vinyl. It opens with
his hit Acid Bits, a collaboration with Bowser that has become one of the
genre's most played songs in recent times and is seen as the anthem which
kick started the recent revival of the Acid Break sound. The second track on
side A is Dangerous, another tune well known to two step/garage fans, in
which a pulse sets the tempo for a sophisticated base line which converses
with a range of sound artefacts and the song's lead vocal. It's a treat for
the ears in a completely different style from the first track. This is GUAU:
capable of charming the listener while showing off his complete mastery of
different registers, as is confirmed by his approach to side B. Two
progressively emotional break tracks that will transport you to contrasting
worlds... his vision of Utopia and Dystopia, in which two opposing ideologies
move towards a common goal that somehow conjures up positivity despite all

After
early work with Lady Gaga, Lady Starlight immediately entered techno's upper
echelons playing live alongside Surgeon, earning the respect of one of the
genre's most legendary hard asses, no small feat for an artist only then
emerging. Forming a strong alliance with Len Faki's Figure reinforced her
upward trajectory, so it's with considerable stature we introduce 'Choose',
her first full solo EP since 2020. 'Choose' makes its choice from the
beginning when the mutated, squealing vocal sample and insistent percussion
command dancers to the floor. She adds sophistication with melodic ideas,
quick breakdowns, and constantly shifting drums, the instability maintaining
momentum. 'Permian-Triassic' could refer to earlier eras of techno Lady
Starlight seeks to bury, although droning pads poke out of her deep
soundscapes like fossils from the 90s framed elegantly. Excited like its
title, 'In a Tizzy' centers its nervous energy around a seesawing motif until
it breaks apart halfway through, then rides it into oblivion on top of
rapid-fire drum fills and a return of the theme. The title track closes in
the darkest mode, its tricked-out breakbeat evading dancer's expectations and
the heavily-processed noises squalling in the background providing no respite |

Emerging
from the cold echoes of Reykjavík's underground music scene, ex.girls,
previously known as Russian Girls, chart an inspiring journey from inception
to international recognition. Founded in 2017 as a personal venture by
Guolaugur Einarsson, the act soon evolved into a vibrant, collaborative
platform for kindred spirits bonded by an unyielding passion for music. The
project consists of three: frontman Tatjana Dis on vocals, alongside
Guðlaugur Einarsson and Gylfi Sigurosson. Their kinship took root at their
erstwhile studio on Skulagata in Reykjavik, where this creative sanctum
became a melting pot of musical exploration, learning, and leisurely
hangouts. Guolaugur and Tantjana also ride the waves as members of the rock
band Skrattar, whose album 'Hellraiser IV' saw Bjarki's experimental bbbbbb
recors imprint venture outside strictly electronic music for the first time
in 2021. Despite their penchant for maintaining an enigmatic aura, ex.girls
won the ‘Best Icelandic Electronic Music Song’ in 2022 with their anthem,
'Halda Afram', released during the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic on
bbbbbb recors, which translates to “keep on going”, became a beacon of hope
during tough times in the Icelandic music scene. Their distinctive sound
palette paints with broad strokes of lush arrangements cemented with a lo-fi
disposition. It's a soundscape where the rumble of a crunchy bass meets a
quirky sprinkle of Nordic humour, a signature style they fondly dub as
'SauerLounge'. While the group has traditionally embraced a leisurely cadence
in unveiling new music, anticipation bubbles as they gear up to their debut
album, ‘Verk’. A twelve-track exploration of experimental, conceptual and
unorthodox textures and sonics, with sounds and influences spanning rock and
nu-wave through to electro, drone and ambient. The result? An absorbing and
hypnotic trip, with twists and turns across every track, presenting a debut
album that keeps you guessing minute by minute |

Biosphere is the main recording
name of Geir Jenssen, a Norwegian musician who has released a notable
catalogue of ambient electronic music. He is well known for his works on
ambient techno and arctic themed pieces, his use of music loops, and peculiar
samples from sci-fi sources. His 1997 album Substrata was voted by the users
of the Hyperreal website in 2001 as the best all-time classic ambient album.
Inland Delta contains nine new musical pieces recorded from 2022 to 2023,
featuring mainly improvised performances on newly restored vintage keyboards. |

repress - It was surely a matter of time before Leicester natives, darlings
of the UKG revival Y U QT graced Time Is Now with a release. Cooper and
Darryl Reid have been repping the Midlands' oft-forgotten 2-step and bassline
scene since being picked up by Riz La Teef's South London Press in 2019;
since dropping two EPs on Warehouse Rave and getting picked up for a remix by
Conducta's award-winning Kiwi Rekords. For Time Is Now, the duo have put
together five tracks of dynamic, cheeky garage that takes influence from the
full breadth of the genre. Studded with bangers, the EP kicks off
surprisingly gently with "Be Real". Some spaced out keys float over
the 2-step rhythm before hitting a sidewinding bassline and the pace picks up
in "Keep On Lovin' Me" - a classic speed garage sound you can't
help but move to. Cooper and Reed show their ruder side on the frenetic,
brass infused "Look Good" and the deeper, Niche-style wobbling
bassline on "Chopper". The record closes with "Hardly Keep it
Inside"; icy synth and contorted trancey diva vocals make this track
feel somehow larger than the others - you could imagine it going off in a
cavernous club on a mountainous soundsystem, a swirling bassy number that
sucks you in. This headsy release makes your feet want to move in the way
only garage can, bringing out some of the best that the UK sound has to offer |

This is the final dose of Pervocet. Pervocet is the brand name
of the psychedelic music project from Patrick Russell and Jasen Loveland and
is used to induce moderate to severe psychosis. The short-term effects of
Pervocet last approximately 5-7 minutes and include Neighbor, Rawlo, L0V3
S1R3N, Phazy Susan and -- in some people -- a pleasant euphoria. This is one
of many projects featuring Jasen Loveland aka Andrew Smith aka ? that IT will
continue to release in honor and memory of him and his incredible and
prophetic musical vision, showcasing his many Infinite Refractions. This
project had begun years ago, and was finished with such care and precision by
Patrick Russell that we are proud to release Pervocet 2 in sync with our

Remixes
from Erika's second album "Anevite Void". "Anevite Void
Remixed" showcases some of the many diverse influences on Erika's
critically acclaimed second solo album "Anevite Void". Here her
ambient album closer "Wandering Mountain" transforms into two faces
of techno, first the monolithic hypnotic slab of sound from Mike Parker then
to a powerful peak time melodic banger from Wata Igarashi. The other side
features a totally different take on her influences, with Eris Drew
delivering her "Body Rock Remix" fusing a number of styles to push
the highlight of Erika's album to new heights, and Whodat discovering a
deeper side to "Tomorrow's Fires". The digital version includes a
slamming techno and electro fusion mix from Noncompliant of
"Anion". Erika began performing live in Ectomorph in 1997 when she
was gifted a TR-606 by BMG and asked to join the group. This grew to her
building her own studio, performing solo as Erika, collaborating with people
like Jay Ahern and Noncompliant, and performing as a member of Circle of
Live. Her depth of thought and clarity of vision has led to her mentoring
people on live performance through the In Bloom platform, where she has made
a large impact on many up and coming musicians. Erika is currently splitting
her time between being based in Berlin and Detroit, is part of the
triumvirate that runs Interdimensional Transmissions (BMG, Erika and Amber)
that are releasing this record and produce legendary events such as No Way
Back, Samhain and Return to the Source. She performs live and DJs and

The
album 'Sing My Title', a posthumous album by Tiny Legs Tim, will be released
on the 1st of December 2023. The release, as well as the Celebrating Tiny
Legs Tim concert in the Handelsbeurs Ghent (28th November 2023) were
announced on the 25th May 2023, exactly one year after Tim's passing. The CD
/ Limited gatefold double gold vinyl will contain an overview of Tim's career
as well as unreleased material from the archives. The first single, Death
Bells Ringing, is one of the new songs. It was recorded in March 2022 during
the last session with the Call Us When It's Over band in studio Room 13.
Drummer Bern Coene is, together with Tim's family, responsible for the
tracklist on the Sing My Title release: 'We selected 15 songs, many of them
are personal favorites of Tim and his family. The album gives a great
overview of his career and is composed by Tim himself for the main part: most
of the songs were on a USB stick that Tim gave to Nick Waterhouse via Nasty
Bartender.' 'After the suggestion from bass-player Filip Vandebril we added
two outtakes from Elsewhere Bound (2019): Drama and Soundtrack are a great
example of the direction that Tim wanted to go: more song-focused, more
americana.' |
