Italian hardcore punk band formed
in La Spezia in 1979. Their self-produced EP7" Criminal World,
influenced by the American school and recorded in June 1982 but released in
early 1983, immediately caught the attention as a milestone of Italian Hardcore,
with themes ranging from the brutality of war to anti-militarism. Great
technical preparation, but also great graphic creativity thanks to the help
of the Anarchist Typography of Carrara, which printed the flyer (attached
here in its full version) that contained the record. On the B-side, hitherto
unreleased tracks from 1989 mark the group's evolution. Gatefold cover with

Dolls came together in the northeast formerly industrial town of Sunderland,
England in 1979 with working-class humour at the forefront of everything and
frontman Olga breaking up the Oi singalongs with searing guitar assaults.
Issued on the independent Volume label as usual, third album Idle Gossip
continued in the same mould as their first two LPs with 'Geordie's Gone To
Jail,' 'keith's A Thief,' 'Silly Billy' and the title track all cracking
numbers built on Olga and company's irresistible charm: 'I'll Get Even With

A
native of Toronto, Tess Parks moved to London, England at the age of
seventeen where she briefly studied photography before deciding to focus on
music. Tess made an impression on industry legend Alan McGee, founder of
Creation Records, albeit the timing of their meeting could hardly have been
less ideal; McGee was no longer involved in music and Tess was due to move
back to Toronto. After moving back to her hometown in 2012, Tess formed a
band on the advice of McGee and less than a year after their meeting, he
returned to music with his new label, 359 Music. Tess became one of his first
signings and released her debut record ‘Blood Hot’ in November 2013 to
excellent reviews. One reviewer described her as “Patti Smith on Quaaludes”.
Others have mentioned her “gauzy psychedelic sound” and“smouldering voice”.
Alan McGee himself said: “She’s only 24 and is already an amazing
songwriter... she just doesn’t quite know she is yet ... her most beautiful
quality is her lack of ego. Tess is an amazing lady”. ‘Blood Hot’ is
inimitably confident. It’s slow and psychedelic at times, while being loud
and ready to fill a stadium at others. There isn’t a moment on the album that
isn’t relatable or that doesn’t ring to the tune of a timeless classic to be
talked about for years to come (the same way people discuss The Velvet
Underground or My Bloody Valentine records today). Her cult-like following
has turned into a movement. And Tess is gladly leading us all back into that
space within ourselves, both deeply personal and entirely universal.
Incredibly relevant yet timeless.Cool and anti-cool. An enigma that doesn’t

Belgian drummer Kobe Gregoir has
lived and worked in the Netherlands for over a decade, where he studied jazz
and teaches at The Hague Conservatory. In his work he pays tribute to the
1950s and 1960s when jazz had its heyday. This first album as leader of his
own Kobe Gregoir Group is also a paean to the hard bop and soul jazz we know
through such illustrious labels as Blue Note, Verve, Prestige, ... The Kobe
Gregoir Group is a classical jazz quintet with, in addition to piano
(Vivienne ChuLiao), double bass (Ignacio Santoro) and drums (Kobe Gregoir),
tenor sax (Claudio Jr. De Rosa) and trumpet (Carlo Nardozza). Additional
flavour is added by the spoken word interventions of Dutch slam poet and
writer Danielle Zawadi. In her socially critical lyrics, she addresses the
daily problems and search for identity as a black woman in a dominant white
society |

50th anniversary reissue of the
ground-breaking set, originally released on Charisma in 1974. A record that
at the time straddled the world between `Pub Rock’ scene and the then
seemingly new sound of reggae music, at least to UK years. Released hot-on-the-heels
of the Wailers’ `Catch a Fire’ and `Burnin’’ when “reggae fever” was starting
to take root in the UK. G.T. Moore had previously been part of the legendary
folk group Heron, before becoming the first white musician to make any
serious attempt to make authentic reggae. The eponymously titled debut set
from the Reggae Guitars featured session musician John `Rabbit’ (who has worked with Wailers, Free and The
Who) and was mixed by Tom Platt who engineered the `Catch a Fire’ album. The
set mostly consists of originals with the exception of covers of tracks by
Bob Dylan, Heptones and Diana Ross |

Comprised
of Stuart Argabright, Michael Diekmann, Kenneth Compton, and Fred Szymanski,
Ike Yard sits between the sinewy proto-body music of the Neue Deutsche Welle
and the shattered grooves of their No Wave peers in New York. The band’s
initial run was short but blinding. They released an EP for Les Disques du
Crépuscule in 1981, which was followed by their legendary self-titled LP for
Factory in 1982. They disbanded within a year, frustrated by the slow pace at
which the industry was able to release their increasingly challenging music.
1982 features 10 tracks which likely would have become the band’s second LP -
only four of these songs have previously seen release on 2006’s 1980-82
Collected via Acute Records. Following the release of Ike Yard, they
continued down their tortured path of hybrid electro-acoustic music with an
arsenal of now-classic analog instruments, including the Korg MS-20 and the
Roland TR-808. Skittering rhythms teeter on the verge of collapse while
seasick synth warbles threaten to push us overboard. Electronic washes
devolve into waves of feedback. Sneering basslines threaten dancers to move,
but how can the body obey? This is dangerous music, gliding along the brink.
The album features a live photo of the band by Makoto Iida and includes an
insert with liner notes from Stuart Argabright. 1982 is essential for fans of
post-punk and caustic electronics from Liaisons Dangereuses to Beau Wanzer |

two protagonists embarks on a journey across the Atlantic to the Caribbean,

(Calibre) from 2013 "Along the west coast of Co Kerry in Ireland you
will find the amazing Valentia Island. Attached by a bridge to the mainland,
it is a place of beauty touched by years of history and the songs of the sea.
I managed to obtain a house there for a few weeks, I took my computer and mic
with me not knowing what to expect when I got there. In one of the rooms sat
a piano, and as my fingers touched the keys I knew there was a story there
waiting to be told. The sound of the piano in that place was something very
magical as 100mph winds battered the house and interrupted my recordings.
Other material has since emerged from those days spent on the island, but the
main body of work that I recorded there makes up this album that I now

Down
Low Music returns with a catalog number reserved for over 20 years, dL-006.
Circa 2002, after releasing music from artists such as Stinkworx, Plastic
Sleeves, Convextion and Macho Cat Garage, the dL catalog skipped from dL-005
to dL-007. dL-006 was reserved for DFD aka Troy Anderson, a core part of the
dL crew from Texas. Troy had previously released excellent records as Cityboy
and Waverider (both recently re-issued on We're Going Back), and as DFD on
the first Down Low Music compilation, 'Satellite Cities' in 2001. But a full
EP was never finalized, until now... Over time, multiple projects were lost
in the void and time passed until Troy recently sent out some new works from
his lab. Down Low loved the new tracks and decided this was the time to
complete the missing piece. It's a wonderful glitch in time, four new DFD
productions that fit easily in the early 00's sound of the label back then,
while also a magnificent piece of machine music from the future. Proper
electro with a touch of human feels which is something that seems to be
essential for a classic Down Low Music release |

on from the special release of Robert Hood and Femi Kuti's live jazz set
"Variations", Robert Hood delivers his latest Techno EP for
M-Plant. This is the first new solo music from him since 2022's "Hectic
/ Amazon Dust" double-header. Although Robert Hood should need little
introduction, with his and his daughter, Lyric's Floorplan moniker riding
high with a new album forthcoming on Classic, his Techno legacy should not be
forgotten. Throughout the '90s, he helped pave the way for Techno to flourish
- giving birth to minimal techno with his seminal album "Minimal
Nation". Since then, he has been consistently forwarding electronic
music culture with ground-breaking productions, sensational performances and
his M-Plant label. His style is characterised by minimalist and experimental
tones with an assertive groove. His "Alpha Key EP" features four
driving cuts of characteristically Hood music that prove when it comes to

the launch of a new sub-label X, with techno pioneer Exos drafted to deliver
the first instalment. Hailing from Iceland, the Planet X boss is a master of
crafting perfect dancefloor weaponry. Over the last twenty years, his
high-octane sounds have come via vital labels like Figure and X/OZ, never
failing to make an impact with both DJs and dancers. Whether dubby or hard,
his techno is always authentic and channels the purity of the 90s sound, and
he brings this signature sound to four fresh productions across his
'Infrared' EP, marking an impressive debut for both label and artist. The
title cut 'Infrared' opens up the package in style and showcases a track that
looks set to be a go-to anthem for many in the months ahead. With searing
synth lines and drilling bass, the blistering production delivers a
thrilling, high-impact techno sound that will devastate the dancefloor. The
well-designed 'Kaldur Klaki' ups the ante even more with tightly coiled loops
of drums, rusty hi-hats and stuttering synth lines that canter along with a
muscular feel. 'The Bad' is twitchy and paranoid, anxiety-riddled techno that

approaching the label's two year anniversary, what better way to celebrate
than with a double header of LP's from the stalwarts of the modern
atmospheric scene. Fresh from his incredible album on Over/Shadow, ASC
continues to find a new lease of life rekindling the atmospheric drum &
bass scene of the 90's, slowing down the pace to reveal a depth that's just
not achievable with higher tempos. Reflections is the culmination of ASC's
work in the genre, picking up where others jumped off, and breathing new life
into music with old school breaks and sensibilities at its core. A1 - Still
Motion: Opening the album with the airy sounds of a lively coastline, Still
Motion is a glorious, unique throwback gem which takes inspiration from
elysian points in time in the history of atmospheric drum & bass. Snappy
beats and eager kick drums contrast perfectly to the serenity of the keys and
a warm, soothing bassline which rumbles along below, unleashing a deep three
note melody which will be in your head all day from the first listen. A2 -
Glaciers: Delicate beat work and timid bells introduce Glaciers, before
jungly breaks take over and the depth of the piece takes shape with long,
mournful strings punctuated by an emotive melody, boring its way into your
soul. The track displays a dense, contemplative vibe that must be heard to
comprehend, heavy with impact as you are compelled to release your own inner
thoughts to slowly dance with ASC's intense production. B1 - Mirage: Another
slice of intense atmospherics awaits with Mirage, beginning with crisp breaks
and the sounds of water droplets plunging into the abyss. A cacophony of
effects are splashed around the mix while melancholic pad work surrounds the
ever-changing breaks, patient melodies waiting their turn to seize the
moment. The distinctive ''feel my soul'' vocal sample delivers a simple
message - this is a track from within. B2 - Constellations: Switching up the
vibe is Constellations, opening with ASC serving up a barrage of detailed
breakbeats that frolic merrily before soothing pads rise in the backdrop,
joined by a serene female vocal sample and calming echoed effects. Mild
intrigues its atop as our breaks are gradually and subtly layered with
intricate detail towards a laid-back conclusion, offering a perfect mid-point
breather to the LP. C1 - Diffusion: An eerie, continuous melody - slightly
reminiscent of Tubular Bells - opens and punctuates Diffusion, leading into a
typically punchy and energetic masterclass of edited breaks. Tense pad work
provides a haunting backdrop to the track, while understated sub bass hides
beneath a quadruple hit of low, tuneful tones. The distinctively pitched
vocal sample complements the composition to create a truly unique slice of
atmospheric drum & bass. C2 - Dreams: Utilising a detailed, zestful break
previously heard in certain classics from the old Progression Sessions days,
ASC showcases his superb editing skills to chop the break into something
quite scintillating and new. Dreams is one of those tracks which has
something fresh to offer the ear each time you listen, riddled with
complexity yet also dancefloor friendly with some sumptuous pad work and
whispered samples in the backdrop. D1 - Frozen in Time: A deeply atmospheric
piece, Frozen in Time delivers a weighty break pattern which thumps its way
into the foreground while a tense, endless melody reflexively grips your
attention - and holds it. Building a dramatic, thoughtful vibe with long,
washing synths and rising notes, ASC's aural storytelling prowess works in
parallel to the nervous energy of the melody, creating a memorable slice of
ethereal drum & bass. D2 - Prototype: Closing out the LP we have
something suitably special with Prototype, taking inspiration from far &
wide with an experimental feel, showcasing ASC's versatility and command of
the apache break. Beats are edited and scattered like dense confetti in the
mix, as a varied array of effects mingle around clouds of synths and deep

Mary Yuzovzskaya's 'The More Your
Know' EP is released via her vinyl-only label Monday Off in spring and is her
first solo EP since 2022. The Berlin-based artist returns to her imprint
following her tracks taking root on labels like Kvalia, Mnestic, and Semantica.
Up first on the record, 'Ittiologia' wriggles up in intensity with unbent
drums and mysterious pads, building up to an unexplored alien soundscape
marked by distant, otherworldly sonar pings. 'Micologia' follows, squelchy
synths prattle amongst each other as rich bursts of low-end and splashes of
303 envelop the mind. On the flip, 'Astrometria' reaches for the starry sky
in full modular glory. Sequences bounce up and down as filtered synths woosh
in the background before 'Oceanologia' dives into the abyss as the ideal
closer. Its hypnotic bassline is accompanied by the foreboding sounds of the
deep, rounding off yet another exemplary showcase of excellent sound design
from Mary Yuzovskaya and her Monday Off label |

repress - Rotterdam based artist ''Ben Buitendijk'' has been around for quite
a while now. With a string of releases of labels such as ''Ogun Records'',
''Eshu Records'' and appearances on the mighty ''Field Records'', the time
has come for Ben to launch his own imprint. Inspired by the city of Rotterdam
and his love for anything architectural, Oblique was founded. A label that is
designed to cater to Ben's vision on the overall electronic landscape and to
display his love for well thought out drum patterns with dense long-stretched
builds and strained atmospheres. ''Venomous EP'' comes in a package of three
extended techno cuts with a certain corresponding theme. As the title might
suggest, all cuts have a certain touch of hazardousness to them. ''Black
Mamba'' is best explained as the experience of poison slowly creeping through
one's veins and leaving an irreversible trail of destruction. ''King Cobra''
feels more boisterous than it's predecessor. Again, a long repetitive build
keeps on changing into a slightly psychotic state of being while razor-sharp
bits of synthesis tickle the listeners brain like when undergoing
acupuncture. ''Stingray'' is the final cut of this first ''Oblique'' effort.
Whilst maintaining the corresponding ''Venomous'' theme, the last endeavour
is a thumping outcry of muscular drums, a ponderous bass shot, and haunting
pad sounds that together create a dystopian character. As an extra, Ben has
thrown in an ominous locked groove that should be useful in adventurous club
settings |

club night at legendary Melkweg Amsterdam, is finally coming out with its own
label. This first release is the kick off for the 15 Year Anniversary of
Techno Tuesday Amsterdam, which will be celebrated in March 2024. The label
will bring up some of the selected artists and established producers. Expect
to hear innovative techno sounds, modular and analogue beats, and forward
thinking music |

With
his first full-length EP on Token after a contribution to last year's Fuga IV
compilation, Nørbak proposes his unique take on movement and grain through
the four tracks on 'Sopro'. Constantly searching for new textural story
telling, the Portuguese producer balances grit with technical depth. 'Teste'
begins the record as the most minimal of the collection, setting a somber
tone with percussive accents whipping through a cavernous atmosphere.
Reminiscent of German style club music with booming kicks and resonating
hits, Nørbak plays to his strengths by alternating through confronting sound
design and imposing rhythmics. The title track 'Sopro' maintains the weight
of its predecessor, however the focus shifts to the lead synth line. The
Hayes member juggles througha hypnotic sequence, bending dissonant keys to
ensure a funky swing while keeping things cool and collected. This stylistic
hybrid segues perfectly into 'Clima', where Nørbak masterfully retreats into
the mind for paced percussion over delirious ambiances in half-time. A slow
rolling bassline pushes through the arrangement like a tidal wave with
chanting snares egging it on, making 'Clima' almost ritualistic. The hypnotic
touch completes 'Sopro EP' in a subtle way and leads into an epic of a closer
with 'Veneta'. Nørbak thickens the rhythmic section once again, with an
accent on the high end, to shout far off notes describing a stretching
landscape. These stuttering keys make for an intense ride supported by
shaking hi hats all along the way, persistent through every transition. The
record comes to a satisfying close with a meditative conclusion, an
appropriate way to wrap up a sensorial adventure |
