originally released on Molesworth Records in 1988. Formed in Huntingdon,
Cambridgeshire after drummer Simon Scott met Guitarist Graham Garduilo in
local band The Giant Polar Bears. They were tour buddies to Ride and most of
the late 1980s shoegaze bands. Simon Scott was stolen by Slowdive after a gig
at the White Horse in Hampstead in 1990, where the Boo Radleys opened the
three-band bill. They split after releasing two albums. John Peel loved them
and NME gave debut album Lovehappy 9 out of 10 |

Refractions of rave culture thrumming in stillness, their ecstatic energy
dissipating into a radiant hum - a melancholic undercurrent born from the
tension between fleeting exuberance and enduring inanition. This is a realm
of heady paradox, where rigid structure and fluid intuition converge. The
artists navigate this liminal space with masterful precision, guiding the
listener through a landscape of aural oscillations. Perception teeters on the
edge of the concrete and the ephemeral; perception dissolves; reality grows

From
the furnaces of Stoke-On-Trent comes the super-limited debut EP from Formal
Sppeedwear, a wonky new wave teacup ready to be sipped. Taking creative cues
from Brian Eno’s Oblique Strategies and Conny Plank’s experimental recording
techniques to flesh out synthpop-oriented melodies, the EP stomps along with
Scary Monsters-era Bowie guitar lines, early 80s Numan basslines and surreal
lyrics - “Ready, set on my mark: Tesco Extra, Marks and Sparks” cries Clewlow
on 6 Lofty Ash. There’s a versatility to the tracks; with the jolting
staccato of The Line counter punched by EP closer and highlight Dismount’s
soaring synth slow burn. Defying the seas of young musicians moving to London
and Manchester to find their path, Beck Clewlow (Bass, Vocals, Synthesisers)
Charlie Ball (Guitar, synthesisers), and Connor Wells (Drums, Guitar,
Synthesisers) stuck it out in Stoke, using the city as a blank canvas -
devoting their spare time to writing and experimenting, building their own
studio out of charity shop finds and cash-converter synths and recording
equipment. Out in the creative wilderness of Staffordshire there’s a healthy
DIY scene brewing with bands waiting to make their mark; fly posting their
own shows, making one-off merch for each gig, sharing lineups with one
another. “There is no sense of geographical confinement here, there’s a
wealth of talent who act indifferently to their surroundings. It’s
particularly nice that some of our friends from here are starting to receive
attention from elsewhere” say the band. As fellow locals University and
Christian Music start to garner attention from the rest of the UK, it’s time
for Formal Sppeedwear to follow suit. Stoke-on-Trent might not be the first
place you’d look to find your favourite new band - The Bootleg Beatles are
one of its finest exports if you ask Google -
but Formal Sppeedwear are here to show you the kilns are alright |

self-released the cassette mini album 'In-door Tapes'. Shortly after the
incredible EP 'Camera' and, we are delighted to be releasing their debut full
length E.A.T on ltd edition vinyl. Debut albums can sometimes feel a bit
disparate as bands fling all the songs they’ve been working on together with
no real thought as to how they all hang together as an album. Not so with
E.A.T. The effort and thought that has gone into writing a cohesive and
well-structured album is evident on every note played. I particularly enjoyed
the instrumental interludes which play a pivotal role in neatly segueing
between tracks. If this is the band just starting out imagine what their next
album will sound like, and the one after that. I hope Holy Springs are ready,

Macedonia's
own Stojche is Fuse's next guest for the club's freshly made imprint. The
long standing DJ and producer has been known to keep Detroit's playfully
hybrid style as the focus of his work and 'Metaphor' is the case in point.
His four tracks bounce through a nostalgic balance of techno, house, and more
with a modern crisp. A refreshing take on club music, Stojche keeps techno's
sometimes nonchalant attitude at arms length with a charismatic record that
hits its mark with every measure. The record's first track 'Counterpunch'
features heavily lined percussion but still brews up a storm far and wide
with resonant dub stabs and open hi hats. The drum machine boasts a full
spectrum, rolling through a light show of melodic flashes, perfect for a room
compressing soundsystem. The maximalist, vintage detail that Stojche brings
to his compositions blurs the lines between classic genres in a time of hasty
hybridization, which gives it a sort of authenticity that can't be taken for
granted. 'Chordal Tribe', on the other hand, raises the general euphoria of
the EP. Luring in the listener with bright pads and full-on drums, Stochje's
work is reliable main slot material that adds color to any mix while
providing a persuasive low end. Shimmering hi hats give it an ethereal
quality making it an appropriate interlude for almost any context. Moving on
to the B side, the producer sharpens up his rhythm and emphasizes the
hardgroove influence in 'Signal Drive'. Softening the pace of his drums with
free use of melodic chord stabs, Stojche opens up his dance floor for a crowd
bonding record once again, complete with filter transitions and pummeling
toms. As the final contribution, his title track 'Metaphor' begins with a
more obscure opening to conclude his EP for Fuse. Leaning more to a techno
cut, the record remains flamboyant as ever with open hats and rides shuffling
through his arrangement. A muted main synth becomes apparent to focus the
energy of the track while allowing for liveset-like drum flickering to take
shape beneath, claiming the immortality of old club records with the
technical precision of a seasoned modern producer |

Introducing
the latest addition to the KEY Vinyl family: Irish artist Casey Fables, who
takes the steering wheel for the next sonic endeavour. An EP pumped with
tight minimalism, sampled, groovy techno. From end-to-end it's paced with a
teasing sort of reserve and sleek progression that works equally well on the
dancefloor or headphones. It's a funky, slippery and sophisticated ride into
the centre of the modern dance floor and highly recommended to those that
know. Opening with 'Heilung', Fables showcases his knowledge of track
building through subtlety and restraint. It's one that ebbs and flows, snakes
and seduces with a tensile, minimalist groove control. A2 'Krava' is a
massive TIP - simply very tasty, hard-to-resist techno. Here the artist
smudges all sharp contours for a more dubbed, swinging groove. Note well the
breathed vocal which adds to an impeccable layered construction, creating a
lovely puzzle of tempos. On with the flip, 'Blumen' maintains a moderate,
laid-back flare while diving deeper into sensorial displays through gritty
textures and sporadic bleeps. A DJ tool with all the frills trimmed for
streamlined mixing potential. Closing the release is 'Late Night Liquor
Store', a fun, funky and fresh piece with a full-bodied 4/4 template and once
again smudged voices for an extra boost of intrigue. Totally essential! |

Having
spent their formative years in São Paulo Brazil, as a teenager, Lau Ro found
themself uprooted from their home. Moving with their family to Europe in
search of a better quality of life, their story was like that of many
immigrants in the same position. Lau Ro's parents found work in factories and
cleaning jobs, for the first few years in the North of Italy and then in
Brighton on England's Southern coast. "We never managed to visit back
home, so my connection to Brazil became largely made up of childhood memories
and my fascination with all the 60s and 70s music I could find from
there." In Brighton, the young
non-binary singer and composer would immerse themself amongst the city's
vanguard of free-thinking artists and musicians. Lau Ro formed Wax Machine
whose prefigurative, psychedelic community provided a glimmer of
countercultural hope amid a backdrop of national political decline. From
2020-23, Wax Machine birthed three cult-favourite albums in as many years;
indebted in part to their British psychedelic forebears from progressive
folk, rock and jazz yore. But the kernel of Lau's Brazilian sound was already
beginning to blossom across Wax Machine's releases. Now, taking root deeper
still, Lau Ro steps forward with their debut album: Cabana. Named after the
small wood cabin at the bottom of their garden where the album was recorded,
Cabana is a deeply personal record of memory, self-discovery and imagination.
Melancholy and hope combine across ten tracks of dreamy bossa, ambient folk,
fuzzy tropicalia and majestic MPB. The music is swathed in masterful string
arrangements and trippy electronics in equal part, while Lau Ro's delicate,
yet quietly confident voice takes acerbic aim (in both English and
Portuguese) at polluted city life, while dreaming of a utopia, rich with
nature and wildlife. Like the musical equivalent of semantic drift, Lau Ro's
displacement led to the creation of another Brazil. A mythic place in Lau's
soul, as they put it, "where the sunshine and joy of my childhood
remained untapped." Lau continues: "It's music that might sound as
if it came out of a parallel universe Brazil, rather than its modern day
landscape. I am nowadays rediscovering Brazil, going back as often as I can
and trying to stay connected to these different parts of the world and

how smells evoke emotions and memories from the past. Doci's fascination with
scents and molecular fragrances inspired him to create an EP centered on the
emotional experiences tied to different scents. Have you ever noticed how a
fragrance can transport you back in time, bringing a rush of memories before
your eyes? This EP is born from that very sensation. Needless to say, Doci's
infatuation with fragrances significantly contributed to the effectiveness of
the project. Hedione (Intro): Begin your odyssey with "Hedione," an
atmospheric IDM/Experimental track. This floral molecular scent-inspired
introduction gently ushers you into the EP's sensorial realm, setting the
stage for a unique auditory adventure. Iso E Super & Ambroxan: Explore
the intricate layers of musky, woody, and ambery scents in "Iso E
Super" and "Ambroxan." These tracks, weaving through
Break/Electro/Drum n' Bass genres with subtle Techno accents, offer a sonic
journey that mirrors the nuanced edges of their aromatic inspirations. Each

- Blue Sky: Opening with a clean, DJ-friendly Hot Pants break, Blue Sky
offers the listener a subtle, warming production with inquisitive synth work
creeping around a fine selection of serene effects, panning excitedly across
a pristine, polished field. Utilising light orchestral strings, a soft
undertone bassline and wistful twilight sounds, Aural Imbalance blends
danceable breakbeats with the soothing sounds of yesteryear as fluidly as
ever. A2 - Starburst: Starburst jumps straight into a tight, energetic beat
pattern constructed with old school breaks and an off-key bassline, soon
joined by eerie, spectral pads to gradually build an ethereal, other-worldly
vibe. The composition is elevated by arising symphony of swirling blippy
melodies, expressing a nervy and curious tone with detail and harmony before
the beat recedes, allowing the melodies to shine alone in the dreamy outro.
AA1 - Frozen Tears: Aural Imbalance conjures a quietly grandiose track with
Frozen Tears, driven by muffled keys and thick hi-hats in the intro before a

suitably understated bassline accompany the fading and echoing synthetic
strings, rich pads and subtle bells, producing a beautifully varied spectrum

Following Allo Darlin's
triumphant farewell back in Dec 2016, their ever/buoyant bass play/er Bill
Botting is releasing his debut solo album. He gathered a supergroup of
siblings and indie legends including Allo Darlin' bandmate Paul Rains, Jonny
Helm from The Wave Pictures, Tom Wade from Owl ^ Mouse, Laura K from
Tigercats, Darren Hay/man and Hannah Botting from home and christened them
the Two Drink Minimums. Better Friends is simply described as indie mixed
with country, or country mixed with indie. You can hear the Go/Between-s in
there, some solo McCartney, perhaps an An/tipodean Kinks and even some
classic Hall and Oates.. The cover of Graceland came from hearing Willie
Nelson's version while waiting for the rest of the band to arrive for the first
rehearsal. Having thought it was uncoverable, Bill proceeded to cover it with
the gang. And he still modestly maintains that The Two Drink Minimums'
version is the second best of the three |

is the solo project of Australian artist, Tarquin Manek. Recorded during
2013, Th Duo is a lo-sci-fi composition that is both uninhibited and
hypnotising. The origin of each sound never betrays itself and Maneks
arrangement hints at nothing familiar. Th Duo sits on the mantle as a dusty
relic from the future.Pieces like Lego Swept Terrains and Lemon Suck Teeth
conjure images of vast junkyards in one moment, and extraterrestrial
frequencies the next. The mind roams free but is inevitably led by the music.
Th Duo was recorded using mobile phones and micro cassettes, which is partly
the reason for its peculiar aesthetic. The question of process, however,
might be more prominent if the record wasnt so immediately enchanting. Such
brave artistic methods will not surprise those familiar with Maneks long list
of solo and collaborative projects. He is a member of the eccentric Canberran
non-pop-music trio, Bum Creek, who are notorious provocateurs in Melbournes
music and arts scene. Manek has also composed solo work under the alias

The very latest from Ramleh-s
Anthony Di Franco, whose long/running solo JFK project has been dedicated to
the kinda concrete mixed rhythmic pummel countless others would almost kill
for since the cassette network culture of the 1980s. It's an immersive sound
that, naturally, shares a little common ground with Ramleh yet emphasises the
monstrous chasms that can be drawn from a sturdy combo of bass/churn and
galvanised beats. Whilst the labyrinthine textures beamed in from a
steelworks remain very much suggestive of a charred psychedelia twisted way
beyond any stupid hippie dream, JFK's work remains hewn with a distinctive
edge at once uncompromising and agile enough to pull you in without the
slightest hint of a protest. Music perfect for the age always hinted at when
younger by pessimistic sci/fi films that we sometimes appear to be living in.

Sounds
From The Northern Hemisphere' is a collection of live-recorded takes,
registered between 2021 and 2023. The Icelandic extraterrestrial scenery was
the main inspiration for this work. Similarly to the nature of each
landscape, every composition was crafted with a genuine and spontaneous
approach, entirely avoiding digital instruments. A methodical sound research
was enacted, exploring the analog behaviours of classic and modern machines.
The result is a minimalistic and intense merge of sounds: simple, but
meaningful |

continues, taking center stage after the mother label BAKK ceded. Here, two
long-time collaborators, Ekolali, originating from Sweden, and Tala Drum
Corps, from the Netherlands, await their returns. The former reappears with a
characteristic approach earlier heard on 'Doggerland'. The latter did
multiple dance releases yet now debuts for this series, expanding on his
stylistic spectrum. Despite shared tempo, the energies of the track are each
of their own. Pulsating with energetic urgency, Ekolali, towards hypnotic
movement, Tala Drum Corps. 'Totem Mollusca' shoots for the sun, like a
budding landscape, yellow rays, waterdrops - kraut-inspired yet club-like
without seeking a climax. 'tokyo subway' has a marimba-ridden, timeless
approach - a clock-ticking, crude atmosphere, as a dream long passed, slowly
ascending. Known for its two-sided, two-songs approach, Plafond offers two
artists or artist combinations the freeform room for exploration and

Three
talents with a long-standing and innate musical connection stretching back
years, Dutch brother duo Parallelle and French DJ/producer Nicolas Masseyef
have been connecting and collaborating to shape a series of lauded projects
released via renowned imprints such as DGTL, Systematic, and Masseyef’s own
Diversions Music. Reuniting for a second outing on Damian Lazarus’ Crosstown
Rebels imprint, following the success of their 2023 debut with the heavily
championed ‘Renegade’, the trio return in style with two fresh, original
productions backed by an ever-stylish remix from Studio Barnhus co-founder
Axel Boman, who returns to deliver his second remix on the label following
his debut remixing Dinky in 2016. The EP’s title track ‘Surrender’ is a
rumbling and impactful percussive journey through the darker territories of
the night, with skittering synths and echoed vocal interjections adding
glimpses of brightness to the otherwise murky sound. Meanwhile, ‘She Says’
keeps the playful vocal elements front and centre, introducing warping
melodies and dub-tinged textures. Providing his flip on the latter, Boman’s
take on ‘She Says’ is classy and engaging from the off, stripping the track
back to expose a raw yet polished interpretation while drawing on hazy pads,
eerie tones and sweeping atmospherics for a wonky and trippy excursion |

The
first LP is always a reason to celebrate, and also grounds for elated
expectation (for more, of course): and now, respect is in order because here
is the double premier. The first LP from Marek Hemmann, the multifaceted
electro-tinkerer near side of the Saale River. We know Marek Hemmann is solo
as well as half of the congenial duo Hemmann & Kaden, who for years have
been the pillars of the new house & techno scene, both as producer and
live act. The complete releases are in the meantime around a dozen; the
innumerable remix business for colleagues from Trentemøller to Monika Kruse
can it be counted. After the most recent EP, the floor storming Gemini, it
was clear that the time is now to get a load of the night fulfilling complete
artwork. On to the in between. What Mr. Hemmann offers here on technoid
material, despite the stacked title, is but a small universe. Not quite a
snack, but rather right in the middle we find ourselves standing in an
eclectic house-world, which in every corner offers a new discovery. From
classic deep-droning dub epos over the ëfrizzed-upí house with Bossa shots
and demanding horn action up to highly complex sample tone-art. Yes, it is a
long trip through techno-land; one in which Marek takes us along, and one which
it must be said, is quite wonderful. In the best way. With a round of wholly
comprehensive melancholy, it comes over us like a sunrise through the broken
club doors after a completely danced-through night. That happens often
enough, but for the swinging beauty and manually-labored final touch, flashes
forth Mr. Hemmann’s golden hands, bringing back the hypnotic bass lines. The
humming monotony lives, as does the subconscious when it says to us: Stay!
Move your ass! And look, what beauteous northern melodies there on the
horizon. Then the sun arises. Blazing through those same - broken club
doors... Thank you Mr. Hemmann! |

The
Mental Groove Classic series returns with a treasure trove of rare and hard
to find tracks plucked from the personal collection of label founder Olivier
Ducret, a pivotal figure in Switzerland's acid house and rave-era party
scene. On Volumes Two and Three of the series - the first installment hit
stores in 2017 - the Mental Groove and Musique Pour La Danse label founder
takes us back to the turn of the '90s, a time he spent promoting parties in
fields, squats, forests, warehouses and former factories in and around Geneva
and behind the counter of a record shopof the same name. While others in
Switzerland's emerging dance music scene gravitated towards US house and
garage, Olivier and his crew opted for a bass, breaks and techno-focused
sound inspired by regular trips to clubs, raves and record shops in the UK.
Drawing directly from his own record box and a memory bank full of snapshots
of euphoric dancefloor moments, Mental Groove Classics volumes Two and Three
sees Olivier reaching for cuts of near-mythical rarity, genuinely overlooked
gems, and undeniably brilliant tracks that have left a long-lasting
impression on the local raving landscape. It's an autobiographical audio
document, historical archive and personal musical statement all rolled into
one, inspired by a moment in time where musical boundaries were being redrawn
in a wave of carefree optimism and freedom inspired new rave scenes across

Fussman’s first EP for Rekids, ‘Definition’, kicks off with ‘Freedom Defines
House’ - a contemporary reimagining of the classic NY house cut. Big, drummy
and complete with a House-focused spoken vocal, the track channels classic
Tenaglia and Vasquez sounds, just with added mix-down punch and flair. On
’The Royal’, Survival Tactics label-boss Fussman runs with the expansive
sound design and power percussion that feature across the whole ‘Definition’
EP but delves into Techno-influences with a soaring set of staccato strings
and stabs. ‘Pace’ builds on ’The Royal’s Techno references but contrasts the
captivating leads with a tunnelling, heads-down vibe created by rhythmic
filtered hits. The closing track, ‘Even Rome Wasn’t Built in a Day’, wraps up
the Definition’ EP neatly with a light but driving tone punctuated with yet
more anthemic string sections. Having released on Laurent Garnier’s COD3QR,
Innvervisions, Drumpoet, and Dyinamic, Tal Fussman has already established
himself as an artist to watch, but this memorable love letter to Detroit and
debut for Radio Slave’s evergreen Rekids label sees him take things to the
next level |

Known
for his intense DJ sets and heavily textured productions, Oscar Mulero
embodies all that has made him a central figure in the international techno
scene in 'The Stranger'. His first release on Token since 2021's 'Titan', the
Spaniard announces his return the only way he knows how, through layered
concoctions of noisy synth work and impactful percussion wrapped up in a four
track EP of impressive weight. The record's first track 'The Sweat and the
Salt' is a representative introduction to the rest of the project. Mulero
holds nothing back with his moody, obscure style and funnels measured grit
into every detail he can. Hypnotic to its core but noisy and saturated enough
to give it an industrial edge, the intricacies of this first track are upheld
and continued in 'The Reddish Glow'. Here, we have more of a melodic back and
forth being played between synth sequences. With no small dose of reverb to
open up the dimension of the track, the incessant tapping of high to low
frequency plucks make it a destabilizing mind trip of a club record. Complete
with racing hi hats and his signature kick, Mulero plays with his elements to
ensure depth in disorientation. 'Why Are You Holding a Gun' flattens up the
space a little bit, creating more of a two-dimensional ambiance and taking
synth distortion to a new level. A mess of an analog sequence hissing in the
high end is paced out by metallic rides and short hi hats, making an
effective dancefloor instrument. As powerful as ever, the PoleGroup boss
controls his chaos with rhythmically questionable elements that add to the
general delirium of 'The Stranger'. As the final chapter, 'The Sunlight
Blinded His Eyes' is the perfect arrival to a stomping EP. A meditative pad
hovers in the back while a rhythmically centered track forms, shuffling
through drum patterns and an infectious bassline. Still packing a punch in
the kick, this final song takes us out into the cosmos after a high pressure
club music display by one of Spain's most respected contributors to techno |

existence are inherently conscious, including living and non-living entities.
Consciousness is not merely a product of our brains and bodies but a
fundamental universal aspect. Consciousness creates reality; our
consciousness shapes our perception of the world. Our thoughts and beliefs
play a significant role in shaping the reality we experience. While
intangible thoughts cannot be measured physically, they shape our reality
tremendously. Our thoughts significantly impact the world around us. We are
waveforms, and everything around us is sound. Sound plays a vital role in
maintaining balance, whether the sound of a chirping bird, the whistles of
dunes, or the resonance of the Earth. As a collective, we make up chords that
continuously merge and try to find a harmonious balance that sustains our consciousness.
In essence, thought forms coexist to create harmonic structures, a lattice of
electrical current that manifests as the lives we live every day." The

at Gargleblast Studios with producer Andy Miller (LIFE WITHOUT BUILDINGS,
MOGWAI, SONS AND DAUGHTERS), "Canines" is a visceral pop record
bristling with urgency, melody, and danger, and is the sound of a band fully
in their stride. "Canines" is a fiercely idiosyncratic record which
stalks new territory for SHRAG; in its counter-intuitive journey from the
feedback-drenched fury of album opener ,Tears of a Landlord" to the
bittersweet lushness of closing paean ,Jane with Dumbbells",
"Canines" interrogates structures, of the body, the mind, and the
city. Suffused with bones, skin, and inappropriate desires, the album's first
single ,Tendons in the Night" is a voyeuristic ode to the estimable
pursuit of gymnastic perfection, whilst the second, ,Show us your
Canines", is a blood-heavy exhortation against martyrdom and for
movement, distilling the urgency and compulsion which lends the tone to the
record as a whole. The glam-rock nonchalance of sun-soaked stomper
,Devastating Bones" gives way to the claustrophobia and menace of the
family curse threading its way through ,That"s Static!", and the
heady impulsivity and rush of ,On the Spines of Old Cathedrals" and
,You're the Shout" are offset against the elegant defiance of ,Chasing
Consummations" and ,Flinching at Forever", where the band insist on
a potent celebration of their own sense of awkwardness and fear.
"Canines" follows up 2009"s self-titled debut album, and
2010's "Life! Death! Prizes!", both of which were mixed by
legendary producer (and MORRISSEY drummer) Woodie Taylor, fresh from his
success with LOVE IS ALL and VERONICA FALLS |
