The Black Tambourines make music
grounded in the ethos of D.I.Y production and scuzzy, distorted garage-rock,
but with ragged grooves and a sun-kissed haze. Their music has been described
as "surf-punk that buzzes with urgency" - NME, "blissfully
hazy garage-punk"- Clash and "scuzzy rip-roaring indie-rock" -
BEAT. Over the last year The Black Tambourines have performed at Glastonbury,
Isle of Wight festival, The Great Escape (unofficially, playing a guerrilla
gig from the back of their van) and Manchesters Psych Fest; theyve toured
Europe and the UK and supported The Jesus and Mary Chain (among many other
shows). This summer, the band are booked to play End of the Road and Nozstock
- The Hidden Valley festivals |

with download code. File under> Indie, Americana, Folk. Eponymous debut
album from London trio Jessica's Brother, comprised of songwriter Tom
Charleston, Jonny Helm ( The Wave Pictures)and Charlie Higgs (Ramshackle
Union Band). Channelling the spirit of the Brothers Grimm to cre/ate an
otherworldly atmosphere, they weave their influences together making a rich
and eclectic vision, with nods to Silver Jews, Jason Molina, Nick Cave,
Richard Thompson and Neil Young. There are themes of joy, anger and silliness
in a carefully crafted world with a colourful cast of characters. The trio
formed in Oc/tober 2016 and just nine months later they recorded the album
with Laurie Sherman with input from Darren Hayman. A few other friends joined
them including Dan Mayfield (Enderby's Room), who added a dose of Bad
Seeds&Dirty Three vibes on the violin and Paul Rains (Allo Darlin '&
Tigercats) on guitar. Tom Charleston's songwriting is influenced more by
poets than other musicians, he cites John Ashbery, T.S. Eliot and Philip
Larkin as inspirations. Ten startling individual vignettes tell their own
stories from a variety of narrator's points of view. "One Of The
Guys", about the toxic nature of being one of the guys in a predatory
pack. "Overnight Horror" revolves around the macho/masculine
nightmare where, as Charleston explains, "the world has gone
head/over/heels shitward and the narrator is reduced to selling his daughter
or his wife to stay alive ."All The Better", is a hushed, eerie
folk song exploring the melancholy and optimism of breaching adolescence and
the limbo before adulthood. Weaving a variety of influences from jangly
indie/rock to gothic country and contemplative psych folk, Jessica's Brother create
the sound of a band coming together and getting caught up in the rush of
starting new and enjoyable. "Jessica's Brother's shambling nerdcore is
clearly a passion project intended to please only themselves. Good for them.A
jingling rush that would have headed John Peel's Festive 50 in another
life." The Guardian. Edition of 300 copies |

(white vinyl). As their year of triumph draws to a close, September Girls
return with a brand new four track EP entitled Veneer, recorded deep
underground in Guerilla Studios, Dublin. Whilst still retaining their
signature drenched feedback sound the tracks have a greater depth and polish
than the album recordings. Each of the four tracks is written and sung by a
different member of the band. The perfect way to round off September Girls'
incredible year, the Veneer EP builds on the foundations of Cursing The Sea
to offer a tantalising glimpse into the band's future as purveyors of the
finest dark-hearted pop in town |

The
Monochrome Set's complete independent singles collection including b/sides
and rare tracks. Collected from their time at Rough Trade, Dindisc and Cherry
Red, a superb collection of genre defying "new wave" pop. Suave,
debonair, sophisticated. Haughty, perhaps, for those who favour the
pejorative. Aristocratic in more than one sense, classy in at least as many.
The Monochrome Set were effortlessly inventive, literate, poised and
immaculate of tuneage, possessed of an internal dialogue as a band that
allowed them to surf their own narrative. They were just unlike anything
else, in layman's terms. Their sound harked back to a golden era of British
pop songwriters. But there was nothing retrogressive about their endeavours.
Instead they wrote songs that recreated the drama and promise of a Pearl ^
Dean interval theme, veering from lullaby to mambo to harmonic pop,
accompanied by lush melodies and irresistibly playful lyrics that embraced
morbidity at one extreme, and pitch-perfect satire at another. Fully
remastered and licensed, ltd to 500 copies |

The New Wave of Brutality and
Hardcore Massacre has arrived. Tokyo punks KRIEGSHÖG are back with their
first full length. After 3 7"s that we love at LVEUM they finally went
for the album. Thirteen tracks of extremely bass driven hardcore destruction.
The recording is relentless, full of energy and distorted. Yet moving from
the ultra blown out recording of their earlier output. This is the band's
most dynamic recording so far and in our humble opinion is destined to be a
classic and genre defining album. The album came housed on a paste on board
heavy gatefold sleeve and pressed on high quality 180 gsm vinyl |

A1 > radio bonzo jingle |
Like many other bands during the
period 1966-68 the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band produced some of their best and
most innovative work for the BBC. Here are 16 previously unreleased and high
quality studio tracks which Viv Stanshall accurately described as "insane
spewings of our collective genius". Fellow writer Neil Innes contributes
tracks never heard elsewhere such as the legendary Brain Opera. On this LP
the Bonzos journey from warped jazz to rock'n'roll that critiques and
celebrates contemporary pop culture, through dangerous trousers, an electric
shirt collar solo and a protest song about dry cleaners. Full sleeve notes
feature the return of Apollo C. Vermouth. Mmmm, that's nice |

Green
shoots have burst forth from Parsnip, let’s warmly welcome the Australian
group’s sophomore album ‘Behold’. The production is ambitious, with 12-string
and acoustic guitars, percussion, piano, saxophone and harmonium all sitting
comfortably in these outstanding songs. Drawing comparisons with Dolly
Mixture, Sara Goes Pop, Look Blue Go Purple and The Field Mice, Parsnip are
an animated ensemble, full of life, emotional complexity and humour. The
laughter in the dark is real, but then the sun comes up and we all must meet
the day. Even the flowers turn their faces. Behold! Recorded across three
sessions over the last three years, ‘Behold’ is a testament to Parsnip at
their most creative, catchy and collaborative. This album showcases the
multi-talents of all four members, with spirited performances adding dazzle
to the thirteen tracks. Paris Richens lets the bass playfully roam. Carolyn
Hawkins tumbles feeling into the drum rumble. Stella Rennex’s guitar soars
alongside her saxophone work, whilst a sprightly keyboard is tenderly
attended by Rebecca Liston. Everyone sings amidst this lush canopy. Patience,
environmental cues and internal signals are integral for a garden to
flourish. The same can be said of the conditions necessary for ‘Behold’ to
emerge. It is an album gleeful in reassessment, changed priorities and
anticipation. The roots are deeply anchored to mystery, drinking up a hidden
wonderment that lies within. ‘Monument’ is a twist of melody and mania, “For
what am I? But a channel of light” they attest amongst the whoops and
hollers. ‘The Babble’ sounds like Ray Davies playing Wordle for
enlightenment. In fact most of these songs are pointing the way towards
growth and understanding. ‘Turn to Love’ is mesmeric and timeless, thoroughly
serene and perfectly judged. Parsnip write songs as a form of communion with
the intangible in our increasingly delusory world, but there is always a
gentle reminder; don’t take anything too seriously! “My head is gonna split
in two, fix it with flour and glue” they demand on ultimate bop
‘Papier-Mâché’, this juxtaposition of mature resolve with childlike
astonishment packs a more powerful punch. On ‘Behold’, Parsnip explore both
the inner and outer realms of consciousness with quick wits and some seriously
quality jangle and jolt. ‘The Light’ is a whip smart workout, sprouting
naturally from the propulsive nature of their debut album ‘When the Tree
Bears Fruit’ (2019). ‘Placeholder’ is also devastatingly honest and channels
The Field Mice as it buries itself like an arrow into your heart. Anti Fade
Records and Upset The Rhythm proudly present Parsnip’s first album in five
years, ‘Behold’. Available in all good record stores April 26th |

In relentless pursuit of their
unapologetic sonic mission, this dynamic quintet hurls a sonic onslaught
reminiscent of the gritty, soulful vocals and fuzz guitar that defined the
'60s punk scene. With the unmistakable whirr of an acetone organ in the mix,
The Bad Beats resurrect the authentic spirit of that era while infusing it
with a vitality that echoes the revival sounds of the '80s garage scene |

Ataque Zero might contain members
from as far away as Venezuela, Colombia and France but their sound has
something grittily British about it. On this second 12" they give us a
further dose of passionate and angry punk which brings to mind the furious
clankings of the likes of Stiff Little Fingers or Leatherface |

RIYL> Ought, Yung, Yo La Tengo, Sebadoh, Folk Implosion, Nap Eyes,
Pavement. Brooch is the glimmering spinoff of a tour that Ben Stidworthy and
Mikkel Holm Silkjær did together with their bands, Montreal's Ought and
Aarhus' Yung. Their first offering of two songs are like the people behind
them> youthful and yet already wise, cold/hearty and yet with ripe with a
primrose melodicism. "Blood Spitting" and "Broken Glass"
are an expertly crafted pair of rock songs, but ones that maintain that
burgeoning kind of playfulness that comes from a new collaboration. The
tracks were recorded over two days in Aarhus, DK in November 2015 |

On side A we
have the only previously released (but very rare) track on these three 45s. A
brilliant, mid-tempo soul chugger that falls between Syl Johnson and James
Brown, undeniable, how this did not blow up at the time is beyond
comprehension. On the flip, it is Deep Soul time again with a version of
'Best of Luck to You', also recorded by Sam baker and Earl Gaines, but easily
toping both |

10-piece
UK afro-fusion outfit TC & The Groove Family are proud to share their new
EP ‘We Have Each Other’. Releasing on Friday 7th June via Bridge The Gap, the
project sees the band refine the sound debuted on their 2022 album ‘First
Home’. Returning to work once again with producer Tom Excell (Nubiyan Twist,
ONIPA), the project explores a darker sonic palette, channelling a deep
appreciation of UK bass and electronic music alongside afro-jazz sounds and
hip-hop sensibilities. The record documents a time of change within the group
- a new lineup, plus members living in different cities and pursuing various
paths - whilst also reflecting the turbulent socio-political climate, and the
major shifts and changes on the horizon for humanity. However, despite the
heavy subject material, the band strike an optimistic, uplifting tone, with
MC Franz Von channeling the music into a message encouraging listeners to
look around and embrace community, whatever that may look like. Bandleader
Tim Cook shares: “Our collective purpose is to craft music that empowers and
energises individuals to embrace their true selves with pride, celebrating
the unity and strength we radiate as one community. No one needs to be alone
when they are striving for common humanity. No one should be lonely when we
celebrate each other, drawn together by a sound that says it’s good to be me,
it’s better to be us. As our MC, Franz Von says, music brings peace, love
& energy”. Opener and lead single ‘Stand Strong’ is a love letter to
afrobeat, creating a contemporary twist with its Khruangbin-esque guitar
lines and weaving horns, whilst ‘Here, Now’ takes the tempo down to an
atmospheric haze of dubbed-out ambient effects, pierced by uplifting horn
melodies. ‘Blessed’ sees the group welcome Nubiyan Twist’s Aziza Jaye for a
dancehall-meets-North African-flavoured feature, subtly reimagining what
Elephunk era Black Eyed Peas would sound like today. At the EP’s centre-point
and emotional peak, title track ‘We Have Each Other’ showcases the band’s
jazz fusion, Latin and dark electronic influences. The tracks growling,
subbed-out bass tones return as a theme for ‘Wile Out’ - a UK hip-hop &
jungle tinged collaboration with SANITY complete with virtuosic, tight-knit
grooves, furious horn lines and a whirlwind of immersive turntablism.
Originally formed in Leeds, TC & The Groove Family’s sound reflects the
diverse musical and cultural backgrounds at the core of the project, with
songs exploring grooves and genres including afrobeat, broken beat, jungle,
jazz and grime. Their music has drawn widespread acclaim, supported by
tastemakers including Jamz Supernova and Craig Charles on BBC Radio 6, BBC
Introducing West Yorkshire, Jazz FM, Rinse FM, Radio FIP and more. The group
have performed at the likes of Glastonbury, We Out Here, Greenman and
Boomtown, and will embark on a UK tour across May & June in support of
the release of ‘We Have Each Other’ |

Debut
album by The Japanese Girl, a hypnotic record that will surely put this band
from Oporto at the forefront of Europe's psych-rock scene. The Japanese Girl
is a Portuguese band formed in late December 2013 by Bruno Sousa, Corinna
Sousa and Emanuel Cunha. Starting with two guitars, an organ and vintage drum
machines, they immediately forged a raw and powerful sound somewhere between
garage rock and psych lo-fi, while recently they have been joined by a
drummer hammering through their opiated layers of reverb. Their intense,
noise-filled live performances are accompanied by mysterious visual elements,
and besides their own headlining shows the band has also played with Jacco
Gardner, The Wand, Girls Names and as part of the Reverence Festival Party. In
early 2015 they recorded "Sonic-Shaped Life", their debut album. It
was put down on tape at Oporto's renewed studio Sá da Bandeira by Cláudio
Tavares and Joao Brandao, and mastered by Miguel Pinheiro Marques at SDB
Mastering. Leading single 'You Should Have Switches', released in September,
gave the first clues about their own brand of hypnotic rock, where pulsating
psychedelia, droney garage and shimmering, trippy pop provide the setting for
haunting compositions, catchy hooks and engaging melodies. Over the course of
ten tracks, the band sounds commanding in the darker passages or punked-up
outbursts and shine in the more sunny, coloured moments, while the flow and
pace of the album produce a wholly entrancing record |

"Trauma
and the shock effect of it - the leftover residue of harsh reality so
impactful that it shapes the way you imagine, envision and calculate your
position in regard to everything and everyone around you. A new type of
psychological radius evolves. Boundaries are reinforced. Relationships are
recessed. A damaged brief system float aimlessly. Vulnerable to and for
anything reminiscent of a worthy cause. The truth about facts became
satirical monologue, dead end expressions that have no critical arrangement.
We all know someone that either has been or will be" - Jeff Mills. The
Eyewitness reveals a habitual pattern in the way it symbolizes a mirror
reflection of mankind in our most vulnerable moments. It is the forthcoming
album of Jeff Mills and it is composed from the perspective of an unknowingly
complicit bystander and it is at the very least, psychologically pathological
in nature. What this release is essentially proposing is an admission to the
diagnosis that no one is immune to shock and trauma. Not the accuser or the
accused. And this abnormality s culturally and generally transmittable -
handed down and passed over to one another disguised as righteous theatre. As
an artist, what Mills is notoriously known for is the perspectives and paths
he chooses to approach hefty, complex, and sometimes, awkward subjects. The
best way to recognize the narratives of his mostrecent album works such as
"The Clairvoyant", an eerie transcending album that plays through
like a Seance for creating a bridge to reach another dimension or "Mind
Power Mind Control", a cautionary warning about the consequences of
supporting deceit, mind control and mass mental persuasion is to start by
first taking a moment to look at yourself in a mirror. He's suggesting sound
as a reflection and what we might be able to see in ourselves. Proposing that
we might be the problem and a solution. In the same vicinity of his recent
solo albums, the direction, scope or target of The Eyewitness is first about
us, then about it. More than the few previous albums he's released lately,
this one has a unique relationship in terms of imagery and visual treatments
that represent the concept. The front cover shows Mills, neatly dressed in a
black suit that appears to be caught in the act of doing something
methodically as he cohorts to supportwith a bright white type of surgical
light towards the viewer. Stark and in the act of.......something offensive -
it could be some type of hypnotic machine at work. Other photos show him in
darkened spaces. Remote and deep in thought. Other clues are the titles of
the tracks such as "Sacred Iridescent Mirror (The Pledge)": this
refers to the act of installing value and credit to something ambiguous and "Menticide"
which means the systematic effort to undermine and destroy a person's values
and beliefs. In the opening track, "in A Traumatized World" we hear
the narration spoken by Mills. In a language he specifically created for this
album. It's a dialect that is designed to be undistinguishable, but spoken
with a compassion that it could be sympathized with. In the latter part of
the track, it reaches a climatic point. Meaning, "it" has happened.
And the album is the evidence. On extra note: In this day and age,it's
comforting to see a musician [like Jeff Mills] administer music conceptually
without any conditions attached. The artistry and craft of using sound and
rhythm to bring forth a concern, a warning or the result of a diagnosis to
the listener |

We've
always been careful not to call Balmat an ambient label, because we like
having the freedom to move, to drift, to morph. But with our 11th release, we
turn our ears--proudly, blissfully--to a strain of ambient at its most
timeless. The appropriately titled Dreams & Whispers comes from Warsaw's
Bartosz Kruczynski, who has recorded under a number of guises, Earth Trax, as
well as his own name. Over the years, he's touched upon deep house,
breakbeats, acid, techno, electro, IDM, and more; often, the throughline
running through a given album is simply the refusal to remain in any one
place for long--well, that, and his unusually nuanced ear for harmony and
texture. Those qualities come to the fore on Dreams & Whispers, which
might be the most focused encapsulation of Kruczynski's atmospheric
sensibilities to date.. Across 14 stripped-down tracks for shimmer and pulse,
Kruczynski evokes overlapping styles in ambient--warm vibraphones, taut arps,
massing strings, lonesome delay chains --but always with his own twist.
Fitting the album's title, the album is loosely divided into two distinct
moods: The A-side, "Dreams," is charged with subtle movement,
rhythms spreading out like rings around skipped stones, while the B-side,
"Whispers," plunges into a zone of shadows and hush. The two
complementary moods flow into one another like the faces of a Moebius strip,
yielding an album that's intuitively shaped and rich in emotion. -- Balmat is
a label with a cloudy outline. Jointly shepherded by Albert Salinas and
Philip Sherburne, two friends living in Cardedeu, Catalonia, and on the
Balearic island of Menorca, Balmat grew out of Lapsus Radio, a weekly show
born almost ten years ago. Balmat's mission is simple: to foster new ideas,
expand upon personal obsessions, and put enveloping sounds out into the
world. "Balmat" means "empty" or "void" in
Catalan. But quite apart from any negative connotations, we prefer to think
of it in terms of possibility: a space waiting to be filled |

A
continuation of the extensive research project initiated last year between
Sound Metaphors, Transmigration and surviving eye-witness/historian Ray
Castle. An in depth analysis of the dancefloor landscape that developed in
Goa during the 80s' and early 90's well before ''Trance'' became the
unfortunate dirty word it is today. Before ''trance'' was even a genre, Goa
was brewing a scene with unparalleled aesthetics, with a constant influx of
dedicated collectors and DJs coming and going to this tropical underground
dancefloor haven, filtering through vast amounts of emerging electronic music
of the times and distilling only the finest of ''Special Goa Music''. Here is
another compilation of our chosen most impactful tracks that would have been
soundtrack to a very special and pure moment of freedom in dancefloor culture
before the bastardisation of what we now know as ''Goa Trance''. A highly
sought after selection of New Beat, Proto Techno, early Progressive/Trance,
Industrial, EBM and House Music. Featuring photographs of the events
presented in a double LP gatefold with poster and liner notes by Ray Castle
himself. Re-mastered at Manmade mastering in Berlin. A generous body of
research essential to any well rounded record collection |

Returning
to Damian Lazarus’ renowned label for their seventh EP on the label, the
Gruuv bosses showcase the latest evolution of their rich and diverse sound,
with the dancefloor-driven quartet of hot cuts! From their early beginnings
between Ibiza and their hometown of Leeds to a near twenty-year-long career
that has taken them from Space (Ibiza) to Womb (Tokyo), fabric (London) to
Zouk (Singapore), UK duo Audiojack have remained and continue to prove
themselves as both ever-present dancefloor hit makers, but artists that have
helped carry the UK’s evolving house sound. From their initial releases on
Leftroom and 2020vision through to their Crosstown Rebels debut in 2016, and
then fast-forwarding to recent music on Solid Grooves, Knee Deep In Sound and
their own Gruuv imprint, the pair’s unwavering passion for fresh sounds
continues to burn bright. Now regulars on Damian Lazarus’ iconic imprint,
serving up five EPs, numerous remixes, and their 2021 album ‘Surface Tension’
on the label to date, the end of May welcomes the duo’s latest chapter on
Crosstown with their latest EP, ‘Play With My Mind’. The skippy and vibrant
‘Play With My Mind’ opens the package with an abundance of nostalgia,
channelling 90s sonics via the infectious organ melody and hooky vocals at
its core, while ‘Casual Verve’ is trippy and loose while delivering a slice
of driving funk to the mix. Next, ‘Connect’ provides a vocal-led,
garage-dipped cut that keeps the energy levels sizzling before ‘Delirium’
closes the show with a swathe of pure dancefloor ecstasy |

Welcome to ‘Hardcore Heaven III’,
the third in Scuba's series of classic hardcore-inflected vinyl EPs further

installments. Hardcore Heaven III ups the tempo from the first two EPs, with
a focus on early Jungle on ‘Truth’ and ‘Give Up Everything’. Meanwhile,
‘Riding Hi’ and ‘Pocket Rocket’ add a 4/4 kick and samples possibly best
described as… borderline? Scuba has also announced D:U:LIVE, a series of live

Beginning life as a 'heady 6/8-time urban jazz odyssey, 'Reunion is a
stunning piece of modern, Hi-Tech Jazz that draws influences from Pat
Metheny, Timeline, Innerzone Orchestra, and Clyde Stubbelfield's drumming.
While previous Quiet Village material was hewn from a myriad of samples
extracted from Edwards' and Martin's notorious digging, 'Reunion' and its
follow-ups are drawn from a tight-knit crew of session musicians, including
the likes of Jon Hester and Thomas Gandey, adding further depth and feel to
the QV sound. Already a firm favourite with Gilles Peterson and Luke Una, the
latter of which leaked a clip of the release via his inimitable Instagram
presence and called it 'something so fucking beautiful. Tony Allen, Sun Ra
meets Carl Craig, Underground Resistance, house, tech, funk, everything
rolled into one'. 'Reunion’ is the first single on The Quiet Village, Quiet
Village's new imprint. Despite continually producing new music and a slew of
remixes, most recently for Running Back and Isle of Jura, the long-term friends
and collaborators have been unable to release under their Quiet Village
moniker since their LP 'Silent Movie' in 2008. While a few releases under QV
and their sometime DJ aliases of Maxxi (Edwards) and Zeus (Martin) have
emerged, 'Reunion' is the beginning of a new and re-energised Quiet Village
that will see more original material and remixes, DJ and live touring that
began in Japan in May and curated compilations of treasures, old and new, in
the coming months and years |

Cassimm
debuts on Rekids with the jackin’ ‘House of Moves’ EP. The Italian-born,
London-based Cassimm lands on Radio Slave’s Rekids for the first time with
the ‘House of Moves’ EP. It kicks off with ‘Body And Soul’, a
hands-in-the-air affair backed by a slick, Jackin’ Tech House groove and
earworm vocal. It’s a surefire recipe to tease the crowd into a dancefloor
moment before Cassimm’s ‘I Hear You’ comes in with plenty of soul on the
B-side. Dubby House chords form the base above swinging organic percussion,
with another classic vocal working the nostalgia on top. Closing out the EP
is the infectious ‘What Ya Looking At’, featuring stripped-back rhythm and
big drops set to make for an even bigger crowd reaction. Signing to Rekids
off the back of many Radio Slave-supported edits, Cassimm debuts on the label
after the chart-topping ‘Say Yeah’ and ‘Love Desire, with supporters like
Honey Dijon and Rekids affiliate Nic Fanciulli. Cassim’s ‘House of Moves’ EP
on Rekids will be released this May and once again shows his ability to
deliver big, memorable house cuts |

Alphawaves, is a
new project by dj and electronic music producer Alex Tsotsos combining both
the meditative as well as the healing power of music! The idea behind
Alphawaves is to stimulate mind, body and soul through broad and repetitive
soundscapes that unfold on top of elegantly pulsating rhythmics. Each track
is recorded live in the studio and moves along the lines of techno in the
ultra deep field. Single takes performed in real time until the tape stops
rolling. Alphawaves is inspired by the analog sound pioneered by acts like
Rhythm and Sound, Maurizio and Alpha and Omega. A01020304 EP is the sophomore
release of Lowpass recordings. A record label that explores the analog realm
of underground electronic music and deep techno. All rights reserved. 2024

We're
excited to welcome a debut on the label from one of our favourite
post-millennium techno producers, Brian Gibbs, aka GUNJACK!!! A string of
dynamite early releases on Birmingham's Sheep Records and his own Deafmosaic
imprint, set this LA producer out from the crowd in the early to mid '00s,
quickly amassing a long list of in-your-face EPs across a range of scene
leading labels. His dark, percussive techno stylings coupled with a larger
than life character made him one of the community's most colourful
personalities, who we've always greatly appreciated. Renewing his deep
connection with techno in recent times and following on from a run of
high-pressure dub techno offerings via his new label and collective Dubwars,
Gunjack supplies us with four crunching club tracks in "Purple Room Trax
Volume 1". Here he employs spiraling FM leads on the a-side with
"Arson '78" and "Plastic Horns" while alternating between
the suspenseful sirens of "Stormbells" and swarming, looped up
power of "Liquid Crystals" on the flip. Unlike many one take live
techno recordings, Gunjack's meticulously tweaked style leaves no fat, with a
dynamic force that'll send the dancefloor into pandemonium. For fans of early
Downwards/Zet, Black Nation etc |

residents The Untouchables return to Samurai for their fifth full release for
the label. While working on their next full length LP for Samurai, a cluster
of tunes began surfacing where their inherent dub flavourings had become the
dominant characteristic of the tune. Such was the infectious power of these
rhythms, it became apparent a full EP of this sound was presenting itself
organically. Onward Forward is the EP The Untouchables have always needed to
make - a release that will leave an indelible mark on the year. We're
delighted that Samurai is the imprint that releases the EP to kick off our

The legend continues. After
recording an album of the amazing new project ASA together with Uwe
Schmidt/ATOM TM (Raster 2023), the pioneer cult band Esplendor Geométrico
offers us their new album, Strepitus Rhythmicus, of machine-like and
futuristic post-industrial music. Electric pulse of mechanical rhythms,
hidden voices, and factory noises. E.G. reinvent themselves again and again
without losing their unique essence. Based now in Islamabad and Rome, Arturo
Lanz & Saverio Evangelista have not stopped their live performances all

FJAAK
returns to their own imprint with a third album. 23 multi facetted tracks
(incl. collaborations with Modeselektor and Skee Mask) spread across 4 discs
and an extensive booklet! Fuelled by the Berlin-based duo's love of club
music in all its forms 'FJAAK THE SYSTEM' is FJAAK's most definitive album to
date, a winding sonic odyssey that surveys the rave landscape, dipping
between frantic euphoria and deep contemplation. Featuring sizzling
collaborations with Modeselektor, Skee Mask, Red Eye and J.Manuel, the album
draws a bold line under FJAAK's 15 years of mischief and mayhem, pulling
together 23 tracks (culled from over 300, no less) that truly reflect the
duo's boundless enthusiasm for the dancefloor. Grazing UK breakbeat, techno,
2-step, d'n'b, jungle, trip-hop and ambient, these elasticated, hybrid
bangers paint a vivid picture of FJAAK's utopian club ideal, a place where
genre boundaries evaporate and only the groove remains. Since graduating in
audio engineering in the early 2010s, FJAAK have been challenging the logic
of a maddeningly conservative club scene with their hardware only live shows,
DJ sets a myriad of record releases. In 2019 they launched the label and
platform Spandau20 with a steady flow of records and a mixtape series featuring
new talent and established artists. With their rebellious attitude and
notoriously energetic live sets, the duo have brought back a crucial lost
ingredient to the rave: playfulness. And if their well-loved albums 'FJAAK',
released on Modeselektor's Monkeytown imprint, and 'Havel' set the scene,
'FJAAK THE SYSTEM' rises above and beyond expectations, creating a new
benchmark. It's not just blood, sweat and tears either, FJAAK's advanced
technical knowhow and love of synthesizers and drum machines helps them
formulate a sound that's conscious of dance music history, but focused on a
brighter, more equitable future. Their second single 'And You Feel' is an
emotional rollercoaster combining UK breakbeat with a dubstep-influenced
bassline wobler and alluring vocals, emulating the moment the mind becomes a
tranquil void through the crescendo of adrenaline like a strain of physical
exertion. This is reflected on their new music video which shows an
unexpected "rage room" scene. As for the rest of the album,
fittingly, the album opens with 'Unity', a brief cry from FJAAK that urges
listeners to overcome their prejudices and focus on the music itself. Then
we're thrown right into 'And You Feel', a searing blend of nostalgic pads,
snatched diva vocals and factory-strength breaks. A conscious balancing act
between tranquility and rushing adrenaline, it's one of the album's most
unashamedly emotional moments. And by the time we reach 'Redemption',
dynamism takes hold completely: ear-pummeling drums feed the soundsystem, and
squelchy, acidic TB-303s twist into peak time. For FJAAK, it's a track that
confronts the harsh reality of a music industry that's not always kind to
artists, highlighting the relentless struggles in a furious rush of pneumatic
kicks and a merciless synth throb. The mood shifts into intricate dark
territory when they team up with Modeselektor on 'Horsepower', a track that
captures the giddiness of their studio sessions. A rush of stepped breaks,
lysergic pads and untamed glitches, it's a trip towards ecstasy that's a
testament to the four producers' mastery over their craft. And on the
energetic 'Mechanic Love', FJAAK examine the relationship between humans and
technology wondering what impact an augmented reality might have on intimacy
and companionship. Using wailing, timestretched voices and pounding kicks,
they blur the boundaries between the organic and the mechanical, whisking
their sonics into a passionate fervor. Elsewhere, they pause for breath on
the blissed-out, aquatic 'Glove Box', and enlist Munich's Skee Mask on the
electro-tinged 'Black Ice', bringing in FJAAK's former member J.Manuel to
slow down gritty breaks into a contemplative whirl on 'Wind Mill Hill'.
'FJAAK THE SYSTEM' is a rich, diverse statement from a duo who aren't willing
to rest on their laurels. While FJAAK always have one eye trained on the
dancefloor, the other is always looking further inside. Written and produced
by Felix Wagner & Aaron Robig as FJAAK. Mixed by FJAAK |

Banabila returns with a second LP
release on Knekelhuis. The renowned Dutch producer is up there among the
stars when it comes to ambient music and the so-called ‘fourth world’ legacy.
On this eleven-track album, we witness soul-wrenching, kraut-tinted, and
early-yet-modernist electronics. Coming from his heart, these imaginative
recordings center around otherworldly voices – fictional characters chanting
in a made-up language, imbued with a captivating spirit, transcending
linguistic barriers. Through remarkable complexity and technique,
'Unspeakable Visions' is full of sonic textures, together evoking a layered,
emotional arc. While the track 'Rattles' still references the artist's first
album on Knekelhuis, 'Echo Transformations', the style of most other tracks
departs towards an intriguing new mix of both pop-infused songs and gloomy
abstraction, balancing between a sense of anticipation and desolation |

MB's debut for
Bio Rhythm... Title track 'The Miracle Sign' is a beautiful and epic journey
in techno soul quite rare to hear these days, reminding a bit of early
nineties Detroit/UK techno and even some of the early Speedy J works, all
with nowadays production skills. Stunning contemporary techno the classic
way. Then from heaven to hell with '60606', an evil distorted acidic drum
track guaranteed to damage kids brains worldwide... But no time to think long
anyway cause there's 'We Only Have', an autistic out-of-the-box jack track
providing a sneaky tool for the more adventurous dj. This will separate the
gurners from the dancers. Top-notch showcase by the unstoppable man-machine
that is Marco Bernardi..! |

The fourth
release on Amotik's AMTK+ label delivers two tracks from Orbe Records boss
Fernando Sanz, aka ORBE, while Room Trax honchos and the appropriately hyped
Angioma & BLANKA serve up a couple as their collaborations continue.
ORBE's tracks on AMTK+004 show two sides to the producer's hypnotic leanings.
'Inverted', a powerful and percussive roller, balances waves of percussive
intensity while 'Exelon' builds on its companion track with a strong dose of
mind-bending EFX and arpeggiated melody. Angioma & BLANKA's contributions
to AMTK+004 see the pair drop the minimalist, bleep-driven 'Mindset'
alongside the precision layering, detail and looping of 'Bottomless'. Set up
to release artists Amotik is genuinely inspired by, AMTK+ is a sub-label to
his eponymous outlet for his works. AMTK+004 features three artists who have
a clear synergy with what Amotik does, and the result is a 12" that
truly delivers |

Dark Distorted Signals proudly
presents their 50st release: "Ordin Air - Ordinize" with a sampler
vinyl, including 3 tracks, and a full album, 10 tracks as a cd and via
downloadcode, all in one sealed package. The digital release is also available
on all mayor platforms. The vinyl comes as a black and white splatter. That
same graphical theme extends to the layout of the cd. This special release is
of the hand of Ordin Air, who again delivers his craftsmanschip in melodic
techno. Hint: for those who bought the fysical package, look for the hidden
gemns! This full album is not a retrospective of himself, nor of the label.
But all tracks combined are like a milestone, a beacon for those who need a
textbook example of true dark melodic techno. Each track is unique and
independently playable and essential for any DJ who wants to play relevant
music. These are power tools! Play it loud! |

A1
- String Theory: Senses arrives on Curvature in epic form, String Theory
opening with a memorable pad melody before the track bursts into life with a
stunning amen workout - edited and chopped impeccably with finely honed
skills from a storied history in drum & bass. A subtly pleasant female
vocal graces the track in the breakdown as a cacophony of melodies dance
around in the mix, before the amens rip back to the forefront in style. A2 -
Cosmic Telemetry: Continuing a fine exploration of sounds of yesteryear,
Cosmic Telemetry showcases a delicately jazzy vibe with breaks that hark back
to classics such as Planetary Funk Alert, modernised with an atmospheric
twist. Rolling out with a plethora of familiar samples and keys as synths
elevate and rise in the backdrop, Cosmic Telemetry is an elegant pastiche for
the ears and the dancefloor alike. AA1 - Papillon: Clean old school breaks
introduce Papillon, an earthy track with deep room-filling bass underpinning
tight analogue drums, playfully decorated with an assortment of wavy synths,
horns and flutes, plinky melodies and delicious female vocal samples in the
breakdown before Senses subtly edits the breaks as a voice declares "I'm
all yours" to synths pitching up and down at will to great effect. AA2 -
Past Lives: Closing the EP on an intensely atmospheric tip, Past Lives is
full of heavily reminiscent rhythms from the classic 90s atmospheric era with
sharp drum samples and ethereal synthwork that transport you to a nostalgic
dreamscape, seamlessly blending the past and the present with classic 808
basslines and fluid, harmonious strings that perfectly complement the
dramatic, all-encompassing padwork. Words by Chris Hayes (Spatial / Red Mist) |

As the summer season approaches,
here comes Kito Jempere and Hard Ton with a perfect summer jam! Taken from
upcoming fifth Kito Jempere album, ''The Sound of Love'' is a classic early
nineties balearic beat ballad - 96 beats per minute of morning bliss, mellow
pads, enigma-esque drums and beautiful vocal drama by one and only Hard Ton.
Besides the title track and a new club driven remix from man-of-the-hour Eden
Burns, vinyl is packed with an array of old and new goodies. Much requested
Andras remix from 2020 previously available digitally only. Live version of
previous Hard Ton collaboration, ''Your Ghost in Me'', played by 8-piece Kito
Jempere Live Band. Plus another two massive and previously ''digital only''
remixes from Eden Burns for all your dance-club needs. And all this comes
with a beautiful sleeve from Berlin based photographer Alexey Kiselev |

House
and techno's most innovative improviser, KiNK, lands on Mutual Rytm X.
Offering four more thrilling dancefloor weapons, the iconic talent lands on
SHDW's new Mutual Rytm X Series to deliver the label's second release.
Legendary Bulgarian artist KiNK is widely regarded as one of the most
respected live acts on the global scene. He is a noted tech wizard who
creates loops on the fly, crafts killer drums and never fails to hypnotise
dancefloors. He has released on almost every influential label of the last 15
years and taken his unrivalled live show to all corners of the world, often
drawing on those sets to bring aspects and inimitable qualities from his
performances into his tracks. This innovative approach has helped to solidify
his reputation as a groundbreaking figure, inspiring a new generation of
musicians and producers, and he once again showcases precisely why he's in a
league of his own here with a first appearance on SHDW's newly minted Mutual
Rytm X. 'Unicord' opens up this new EP in thrilling fashion with sleek,
Detroit-style synth loops flashing up top as the heavy, pounding while warm
drums drive things down low. 'Quantum Shake' brings 90s energy with new
school sound deists - the dubby drums are fast and urgent, the synth craft is
deft, and the percussion adds texture to a straight-up but sophisticated
techno anthem. 'Pitch Down' then brings fantastically unhinged synth leads
that spray and zip about the mix to boggle the brain. Rattling percussive
loops and chunky drums keep things moving as those synths get even more wild.
To close, the digital bonus 'Highpass Lowpass' is a masterfully muscular cut
with rugged bass and taught synths interlinking to mind-melting effect. KiNK
'Quantum Shake' EP drops via Mutual Rytm X on 21st June 2024 |
