The argentinian Gonzalo MD has
just recently created a lot of buzz around his person with releases on the
french label Knotweed Records. You can clearly hear that he has got his very
own style of techno, his synths are very extensive and hypnotic and his
kickdrums are very sub-heavy. The original of Northern Lights is the perfect
example for those extensive synths. Strck is has given his Remix his very own
touch by using his typical loopy and ecstatic sounds. Lee Holman converted
the record into something faster and more hard hitting using the synths and
highlighted bleeps. on B2 and B3 we have two more of Gonzalos great original
Records. Deep Purple is one hell of a banging, hypnotic 90s-Techno example
while Modulat is pulsing rather deep using a lovely hatgroove |

Japanese techno wizard Ducerey Ada Nexino aka Yuji Kondo! Whether as Ducerey

Sawa), this producer and co-founder of the notorious 10 Label imprint, has
been making floor shaking tunes for a while now and gaining a lots of
attention, proven by appearances on labels like Semantica or Perc Trax.
'Cycles, Children & Islands EP' represents the culmination of his work
under the 'Ducerey Ada Nexino' moniker. On board are 3 originals, a remix by
the label-head Scalameriya and a digital, 'bonus' ambient / noise track. All
of that, beautifully packed on a grey/black marbled vinyl |

"Diré a mi gente" is a
1969 Colombian pop classic with one foot in protest song and the other in
acid rock, harsh sounding but also current and sincere. The rawness of the
lyrics, the simple and dynamic electrified instrumentation and the contrast
with the sweetness and innocence of the adolescent vocals make it reminiscent
of Nadaism via Pablus Gallinazo, the bittersweet tenderness of Elia y
Elizabeth and the post Los Yetis duet of Norman y Darío. First time vinyl
reissue. Liner notes by Mexican DJ and collector Carlos Icaza aka Tropicaza

Empire was an offshoot of punk
legends Generation X, very influential for the '80s Washington D.C. hardcore
and UK neo-psychedelic scenes, acting somehow as the missing link between new
wave and grunge. "Expensive Sound" was originally released in 1981,
their music was raw, bare, warm - distinct from the glacial, antiseptic pop
that would dominate the decade. While "Expensive Sound" may be
better known for the bands it inspired - the neo-psychedia of The Stone Roses
and the athletic fretwork of Fugazi - they deserve appreciation on its own
merits: one of the finest guitar pop records of the era |

Formed in Granada by Ani Zinc,
who also recorded under the name Neo Zelanda, and Javier G Marín, Diseño
Corbusier were a fascinating and unique project of avant-garde electronics.
Their second LP, "El alma de la estrella" (1986), is a marvel of
sound craftwork that gathers elements of industrial music, minimal techno and
vocal manipulation through a dadaist and completely personal approach |

Color vinyl. London-based
singer&guitarist Dan Treacy took the Mod sound of the mid-1960s and
channelled it in other directions through the Television Personalities, the
oddball, on-off group he founded with two friends in 1977. The 1995 solo
Treacy effort I Was A Mod Before You Was A Mod veers between the humour of
'As John Belushi Said' and 'Little Woody Allen' to the angst and
self-loathing of 'A Long Time Gone' and 'I Can See My Whole World Crashing
Down,' and there's the catchy Mod homage of the title track. Tragic, spastic,
and wildly fearless, this is one of Treacy's most personal, vulnerable, and
sought-after releases |

This 1974 debut album by
heavy-duty trombone-centric Colombian salsa group The Latin Brothers remains
a favorite the world over to this day. Featuring the soaring vocals of Píper
Pimienta and backing of Fruko with members of his band Los Tesos, The Latin
Brothers would inspire future Colombian salsa orchestras like Grupo Niche as
well as helping establish Medellín as a center of salsa almost as famous as
Cali. Filled with lesser-known dance floor classics, this remastered edition
also contains the non-LP bonus track 'Echa pa' lante camará'. 180g vinyl |

Peruvian tres player Mita's career and includes the memorable originals 'Mita

'No aguanto más', as well as versions of Cuban guarachas and hits from the
repertoire of Puerto Rican artists like Joe Cuba, Ismael Rivera and Cortijo y
su Combo. Although his fame transcended national borders in the late 1970s,
when artists such as Celia Cruz, Ismael Miranda and the Sonora Ponceña
requested he played with them on their tours of Lima, he never released
another album. First time reissue |

First solo LP by the talented
Peruvian artist Betico Salas, lead trumpet player of the great Sonora de
Lucho Macedo, one of the best ensembles playing Cuban repertoires in the
early '60s. This 1966 album features Alfredo Linares on piano and sonero
vocals by Benny del Solar, and combines a mix of guarachas, guanguancó and
even cumbias. Betico Salas would later release two more albums and become a

Debut single from French 3-piece electronic garage band, The
Jimi Ben Band. Based in Lille, France. Mainly influenced by American Garage
bands, 60s British Beat groups, Surf Music, Punk Rock and New Wave, these
slackers like it rather cheesy, danceable and fun. The Jimi Ben Band started
as a lo-fi garage trio. Since then, they have performed about 40 shows in
France and Belgium and developed a degenerate style based on energy, coconut
vocals and great amounts of reverb. They have made it quite clear that they
wanted nothing but having girls dancing at gigs |

Formed in the late Nineties in California, Fantômas was a heavy
metal supergroup featuring some seriously heavyweight names - Faith No More's
Mike Patton, Melvins' Buzz Osbourne and Slayer's Dave Lombardo among them.
The group's eponymous debut album Fantômas was released in the spring of 1999
as the first-ever release on Patton's label Ipecac, consisting of forty-three
very brief blasts of highly original alt-rock |

Unreleased
themes from Kornelije Kovac for commissioned documentary short 'Raport iz
Sarajeva', directed by Miodrag Zdravkovic in 1982. This music themes precede
the official songs, idents and audio logos for the XIV Winter Olympic Games
Sarajevo 1984 opening ceremony made by Kornelije Kovac in his Belgrade based
studio from 1982 to 1984. Sourced from the original master tapes with full
color artwork by Eric Adrian Lee. Includes insert with photographs from
Kornelije Kovac private collection and liner notes by Zeljko Luketic. XIV
Winter Olympic Games in Sarajevo 1984 had immeasurable status in the history
of Yugoslavia and is widely recognized by organizing committee to be the best
in recent history of the Games. However, they were also the pop-culture
melting pot of the times, with posters by Andy Warhol and famed local
designers and the music by Kornelije Kovac, leading the selected
best-of-the-best composers of the times. The recordings on this release share
the same musical approach to melody and structure Kornelije Kovac (1942 -
2022) was using at the beginning and the mid of 1980s: while exploring the
possibilities of synthesizer, fresh from his collaborations in London with
famed composer Hans Zimmer, and almost a decade since he shared Eurovision
Song Contest stage with ABBA in Brighton with his Korni Grupa, He also
collaborated with Bernie Marsden (Whitesnake), Paul Jones (Manfred Mann) and
Andy Pask (Landscape) among others. Kornelije Kovac always insisted on the
freshness of the harmony layers combined with DJ friendly rhythm backing
track. With the warm analogue feel that resonates in today's digital world
this was chosen for a purpose to be an old-school 12'' maxi-single, as it was
intended to be, cut loudly for the sakes of all lost and existing
discotheques in Sarajevo and all over the world |

repress / hot foil printed sleeve - Mutual Rytm is synonymous with serious,
no-frills techno. It is a go-to for the world's most influential DJs and a
home to some of the scene's most innovative producers. Over the last two
years, it has explored several shades of sound, always with high-quality
production and forward-thinking styles. A fine balance has always been struck
between new and emerging talents and established names with plenty more to
say, and that is the case on this collection which features the legendary
likes of Blawan, Gary Beck, Colin Benders, The Advent and Dax J next to ANNE,
Alarico, JakoJako, Chlar, LDS and many more. Founder SHDW says, "I've
poured my heart into curating a compilation of 36 tracks, a reflection of my
deepest musical passions. The lineup is stacked with incredible artists, and
it captures the label's essence - a fusion of artists spanning generations,
united by a shared spirit and aesthetic, creating a seamless 'mutual
rhythm'." Although all 36 tracks stand alone as high-grade and
club-ready dynamite, they also collectively form a versatile listening
experience thanks to how they've been carefully assembled into a perfectly
sequenced journey. Each one dives into a different nuance within the world of
techno and there is a range of moods from dark and driving to more energising
and uplifting. The collection not only shows how far Mutual Rytm has come in
a short space of time but also that it remains in a constant state of
evolution and has a bright future ahead in 2024 and beyond. SHDW's vision at
Mutual Rytm was always to present a cohesive yet varied musical experience,
and Federation Of Rytm III does exactly that |

My
studio is my shelter, I feel comfortable there, surrounded by wonderful
inspiring machines. A small cosy room where ideas emerge, mature, morph, and
solidify into their final shape. 'Studio' is the result of spending time in
that space. The album's intention is simple: Presenting a beautiful personal
musical journey. The creative process in itself matters to me, the
interaction with my instruments, the accidental discoveries, the successful
execution of a vision and anything in between. Most of the tracks on this
album got revised countless times, and then even more, once I knew in which
context and order I wanted to arrange them. I have been living with my music
for months now, listening, thinking, changing, diving deeper and deeper into
each piece. I love albums, they are a beautiful long-form format where each
part has its place, a journey from the start till the end. Each piece has its
own story, its own flavour and history. Some of them have been with me since
a while already. There is material which I created years ago for
installations and music derived from previous audiovisual works, all
completely ripped apart and rearranged multiple times. During their creation
my pieces often turn into something completely different, they repeatedly shift
from one state to another until they become solid. What I consider a core
element at the beginning might be later discarded completely, and a little
detail in the background might become the essence. Many explorations ended in
the trash bin before the results had a chance to be part of 'Studio'. Things
did not fall into place, did not feel right. Other compositions had to fill
the void instead, some created quickly in a rush of inspiration, some slowly,
shy, questioning their significance. This album did not come into existence
in a hurry, it took as long as it needed. I used the time to walk around my
creations, to listen to them from the distance, physically, mentally, with
friends, in all kinds of different contexts. I tried to understand what I
just did. I started to see patterns, hidden motifs, things that were buried
in between too many layers of sound. What is essential? What is ornament? I
reduced, rearranged, added again. The closer I got to the final state of
'Studio' the more clarity I found. The inherent doubts and the nagging voices
from the inside got more quiet, and a sense of achievement started to
manifest itself. More and more details just fell into place. And now it is
done. After making electronic music since almost thirty years I don't care
anymore about genres, about how to label things. It is music, my own personal
music, and that's it. Call it electronica if you wish. Process Notes: The
music on this album has been constructed in Ableton Live. Most of the sounds
have been created with my collection of beloved hardware synthesisers and
effects, often further processed until something completely different did
emerge. Sometimes I spend days in the studio just recording sounds or
creating new presets, without already having a composition in mind. A few
selected musical instruments contributed significantly to the palette of this
album; a New England Digital Synclavier II, which also served as inspiration
for the artwork, a Sequential Prophet VS, which is present on all Monolake
albums since 1996, a Yamaha SY77, Linn Drum, and the Oberheim Xpander. And
then there is Operator in Ableton Live, which I developed in 2004 and still
love to use, and a lot of the other effects and instruments in the software.
And of course my Granulator III instrument, and the PitchLoop89 audio effect.
The final sonic world is often the result of radical processing of these
elements, via filtering, pitch shifting, time stretching and other types of
processing, both in Live and with my hardware. The good old Alesis Quadraverb
deserves an honorary mention here, so does the AMS RMX 16. Artwork: The cover
combines a few complex elements. A composition of various lichen photographs,
and a computational noise field that cuts rivers into the structure, where
the inner artwork of the album shines through: The inside of the CD package
and the gatefold vinyl cover shows a non-existing musical instrument, based
on the user interface of the Synclavier II. I've always been fond of its
futuristic button matrix with red LEDs, which conjures a sense of nostalgia
for early computer systems. But I wanted more than just a photograph of it.
Instead, I created a collage that not only consists of its existing controls
but also integrated additional features it never possessed, though it might
have in a subsequent iteration. In essence, I crafted a vision of a future
that never materialized. Geeky detail: When a Synclavier II is turned on, and
the connected mainframe computer did not boot yet, the LEDs in the buttons
light up in random patterns. The imaginary version of it does the same |

Phyr
Records, owned by Pyramidal Decode, is a techno Vinyl/Digital label focused
on dark, hypnotic and strong Techno. The label's name "Phyr"
originates from the Greek word "pyro", meaning "fire",
reflecting the intense and fiery energy that defines the label's sound.
'Compounds' is the debut release from Pyramidal Decode's Phyr Records. This
various artist compilation kicks off with a thought-provoking and intricately
textured track, 'Resistenza', courtesy of Pyramidal Decode himself. The A2
comes from Spanish Pwcca, label owner of Hardtools Rec. and Inducted Waves.
His track, 'Half Human', is a masterclass in building tension, crafting a
sense of unease that's sure to leave listeners on edge. On the B side, Irazu
& Unkle Fon, both hailing from Madrid, bring their unique brand of modern
techno to the table with a sprawling and atmospheric track that's sure to get
lost in its sonic landscape. Finally, the B2 is a hauntingly beautiful
closing, courtesy of German producer Oliver Rosemann. His emotive and
atmospheric soundscapes provide a moody ending to this exceptional release |

Aki
is an emerging jazz collective led by drummer Anke Verslype. The core of the
group consists of guitarist Willem Heylen, bassist Ruben De Maesschalck and
harpist Marjolein Vernimmen. They perform atmospheric jazz with at its base
uncomplicated, restrained melodies whose boundaries are pushed during
improvisations. With two previous EPs, "Warm Days" and
"Niobe," aki has already impressed. In the fall of 2022, they
surprised their audience with the debut of their first full-length album,
titled "Nader," released under W.E.R.F. records. This album
featured an exciting collaboration with Joachim Badenhorst on clarinet, who
added a new dimension to their sound. For theirlatest album and upcoming
tour, aki once again joins forces with Joachim Badenhorst and asked Niels Van
Heertum (euphonium) as a guest. This expansion enriches the color palette of
their music and brings out a new depth. Together they create a unique sound
that takes listeners on a journey of warmth and melancholy, somewhere between
cinematic landscapes, jazz and minimalism |

Machinefunk Veteran ''Eduardo De La Calle'' is bound to make his
Planet Rhythm debut with a 4-track analog synth laden voyage into the the
more hypnotizing side of electronic music. Opening track ''Alex Blaney Says
No Again'' dives heavy into original synthesis and shakey drum/perc
combinations for one of the most spiritual PRRUK releases thusfar. The follow
up track called ''It's On My Brain''is just as emotive. Eduardo cleverly uses
repetitive hats and unclear vocal samples to emphasize on that underwater
atmosphere he so well puts together. On the B side we find ''I Love You"
which thrives on wonderful pads and uplifting melodies which together, create
a very uneasy, yet euphoric vibe. Govindaya Namah Dub is the closing down
track of this 12'' as the name suggests, it's quite a dubby voyage which
contains loads of FX tricks and should be very soothing for those 6 O clock
in the morning spiritual club moments |

This EP represents not just my personal experiences, but the
collective emotions, love, and energy we all shared on the dance floor.
Inspired by these moments, the tracks reflect a profound essence. Just as ice
freezes a moment in time, music captures the fleeting yet profound
experiences. It has the power to connect us in deep and meaningful ways
creating memories that last forever. I am grateful for all the incredible

The
musician and DJ Ken Ishii sits right at the pinnacle of techno's most
noteworthy, but although a game changer for the artist personally - and for
Japanese electronic music in general - his 1994 album 'Reference to
Difference' is something of an unsung gem today. Now reissued and remastered,
released to mark the 30th anniversary of Musicmine / Sublime Records, and
available on vinyl with its original track-list for the first time, this
stunning, lesser-known classic is ripe for rediscovery. Born 1970 in Sapporo,
Ishii was introduced to electronic music at a young age through arcade games,
and Japanese and German pioneers like Yellow Magic Orchestra, Isao Tomita and
Kraftwerk. During his teens, he absorbed new wave, synth-pop, EBM and
industrial, before making a life-changing discovery of Detroit techno in the
late 80s. As the 1990s dawned, so did his introduction to Black Dog
Productions and Warp Records' Artificial Intelligence compilations. Blown
away by the emerging British and American IDM, braindance, and ambient techno
movements, he quickly folded their influence into his still-developing but
cultivated aesthetic. A futuristic confluence of unplaceable ambient
atmospheres, space age techno, IDM and minimalist composition, 'Reference To
Difference' unfolds as an effortless series of exercises in pristine synth
textures, robust man/machine rhythm and understated melodies. It teleports
the listener back to a golden moment in the mid-1990s, when a dedicated
generation rose out of Tokyo's storied clubs and took the innovation, energy,
and creativity of Japan's unique techno culture to the world. Opened in 1993,
Maniac Love was a new nightclub where Manabu Yamazaki aka DJ Yama promoted
the Sublime parties, which soon became a crucial hub within the burgeoning
Tokyo underground. It was here where Yamazaki rubbed shoulders with peers
including Ishii and Susumu Yokota, and the trio's future became intertwined.
Much like Ishii, the late Susumu Yokota began his musical career by reaching
out to Europe. Not long before Ishii released his debut longplayer 'Garden On
The Palm' through Belgium's R&S, Yokota released his debut LP 'The
Frankfurt-Tokyo Connection' through Harthouse, the German label co-founded by
Sven Väth. In the wake of both records' overseas success, Ishii and Yokota
set a benchmark for techno in Japan. By 1993, as they both became in-demand
producers and DJs, it felt like their dreams were coming true. Through
talking with Ishii and Yokota, Yamazaki became emboldened to transform
Sublime into a record label. Soon after, Yamazaki partnered with Hideoki
Amano, who was on the verge of founding Musicmine, a now respected and
longstanding independent Japanese music company. As Yamazaki tells it, Amano
helped him turn his dream into a reality: Sublime Records. For Musicmine and
Sublime Records' inaugural album releases, Yamazaki and Amano approached both
Ishii and Yokota, resulting in the simultaneous drop of 'Reference To
Difference' and 'Acid Mt. Fuji' respectively, on June 29th 1994. Yamazaki
remembered 'Reference To Difference' being well received by DJs, listeners,
record store buyers and journalists, stating "people were excited by
this new wave of music coming out of Japan, and had high praise for its
unique sound." With the pair of LPs further stamping Japan on the
contemporary musical globe, the scene was beginning to boom at home too.
Specialist record stores, and club music magazines like Ele-King and Loud
spread the word, and in the wake of Maniac Love's impact, new nightclubs like
the legendary Liquid Room were opening up, bringing a steady stream of
world-famous DJs to the Japanese capital |

journey in 2017 as a digger and DJ, striving to carve out his place in the
music scene. His ultimate goal is to offer something profound and uniquely
his own, leading him to express his musical vision through productions. Since
2021, he has been working in a studio at the Funkhaus in Berlin, focusing on
acoustics treatment and mixing to deliver a precise and powerful sound
experience. DHAEUR's music seeks to merge mental atmospheres with physical
rhythms, blending hypnotic synths with primal grooves. His attention is
always on creating a visceral connection on the dance floor without the need
for words, guiding listeners through a crafted sonic journey. Get comfortable
and enjoy the show - the movie is about to begin! |

Freak Ticket' is the 4th album by Seattle alternative rock band Love Battery.
It was originally recorded in 1994 and released only in USA and on CD format
- now it is being released on vinyl for the first time. The Seattle
Post-Intelligencer called the album "a solid, well-produced album of
guitar-based rock with catchy hooks and a strong dose of psychedelia."
USA Today labeled the album "a psychedelic tour de force and dramatic
leap forward," writing that "the antigrunge guitar riff-o-rama of
Ron Nine and Kevin Whitworth propels the Seattle quartet-s most adventurous
and listenable tunes to date." The band, featuring members of Mother
Love Bone, Green River, Skin Yard, The Presidents of the USA, is: Ron Nine -
Vocals, Guitar Kevin Whitworth - Guitar Jason Finn - Drums Bruce Fairweather
- Bass This vinyl edition has been remastered by Jack Endino (Nirvana,

A
hidden gem for fans of space sounds of the German electronic pioneers of the
seventies (TD, Schulze, Ash Ra.). Exclusive use of analog electronic
instruments: a long list of classic synthesizers and sequencers. Cidrón, from
Almeria (Andalusia), is a legendary Spanish synthesist who started in 1985. A
veteran of analog electronic sounds. His early influences were the Berlin
School of the seventies (TD, Schulze, etc) and the American Minimal music
Cidrón has released 9 albums on his own label (Extraradio) with a very
limited distribution. Juan Manuel Cidrón has always been music... as a child
he fell in love with a radio that had flashing lights -Radio is now one of
his professions- though he also was captivated by the music broadcasted
before him... with the little money he had as a child and in his youth he
would spend on records and analog machines... music is everything for him,
and that is why we crave his compositions as a celebration of life... the
immensity that his electronic keyboards offer us is also the immensity of the
desert, snow, wind... records like Tau or Sonido Para Acciones belong to the
imaginarium of Spanish electronic music... and also to the imaginarium of
lovers of sonic poetry... soaring music... this vinyl edition is special...
it is a return to analog, to which Cidrón is devout, and to which he will
continue to be loyal ... in this way, it is a classic, as his continuous
pledge to the quality that is the resounding conjunction between natural and
artificial pulsation. the result is always him: a material body that
approaches dreams... that approaches the naked face of the world |

The second installment in the tryptich of modern and highly
specialized anomie brought to life by vocal lyricist EUGENE S. ROBINSON
(OXBOW) and musical tour guide PHILIPPE PETIT, covers an unspecified disaster
at the centre of a failed and failing relationship. Equal parts 'Who's Afraid
Of Virginia Woolf?' and the last 16 hours of a love affair, the album also
features the estimable KASIA MEOW in a duet with Robinson that radiates all
the best parts of homicidal suicides |

French saxophonist Musina Ebobissé unveils "ARMAUN",
the third release under his Blendreed name. "ARMAUN" - Ambient
Resistance Music Against Urban Noise - takes a stand against the interference
of invasive irritants with sublime slow motion music. Its four pieces evoke
an ecstatic peace, allowing both artist and listener to breathe deeply. As
the compositions unfold, each exhalation resonates at the frequency of the
human mind in repose. Layers of treated and reverberant saxophone fuse into a
hypnagogic whole, as elongated melodies interact with their own fragmented
and transformed echoes. In a semi dream state, existence is experienced at a
languid pace, as each phrase decays into a haze of crosscurrents |

Inspired
by the cassette packs shared amongst friends on the playgrounds of the 90’s,
Tape Pack’s debut release on new imprint, Loom Recordings, aspires to
communicate the essence and spirit of golden-era jungle/D&B, updated to
incorporate influences from today’s thriving and diverse electronic music
community. Too young for the rave in ’95 but buying records and experimenting
with production since the early 00’s, the time has finally come for Tape Pack
to kick things up a notch and start sharing the output. Classic meets modern
– elements from the past, the present and the future, weaving the fabric for
LOOM-001, with LOOM-002 and LOOM-003 already in the pipeline. World Unknown:
Setting the tone – mysterious jungle and ambient/Detroit-techno waveforms
combine to weave a futuristic drum and bass tapestry. Desolation Sound:
Utopian pads, intricate drum edits and percussive elements are adeptly
blended to evoke a hypnotic, meditative haze, all reliably anchored by warm
808 low-end. Cascades: Deeper vibes transmission sequence, looking to the
future while referencing the classic atmospheric era of the mid-90’s.
Galatea: Strap in to the command module and brace for a nine-billion mile,
breakbeat-propelled, round-trip to Neptune’s fourth moon. Sub-bass
frequencies/sub-zero temperatures |

Markantonio's
record label, AnalyticTrail, proudly presents "Groove Impact," an
dynamic techno EP by young Irish talent CULT, known for his fast-paced
rhythms sequenced into jackin' grooves. CULT, one of Europe's most
talked-about young talents, has a raw style defined by intricate synths
creating upbeat machine-funk. Influenced by '90s techno, his music perfectly
blends captivating atmosphere with driving energy. Known for his warm, punchy
basslines and tribal drum patterns, CULT's tracks are already staples at
Vault Sessions events and are championed by DJs like Alarico and Future666
among others. Founded in 2001 and based in Naples, Italy, AnalyticTrail has
been pivotal in shaping the Neapolitan techno sound. A cornerstone of the
scene, the label has achieved great success with its groovy,
dancefloor-engineered tracks. With "Groove Impact," AnalyticTrail
returns to its roots restarting vinyl releases driven by the desire to
produce timeless music that endures on physical formats, just like in the
good old days. The label has also started signing techno that puts a
contemporary spin on the classic hardgroove style that first brought it
success in the early '00s. The EP opens with A1 "Jumpin' Traxx,"
featuring cowbells and a dramatic hip hop vocal sample layered over a
throbbing bassline to create an upbeat groove. On A2, "High
Pressure" follows with booming percussion, fizzing ride cymbals,
dystopian synths, and invigorating vocal stabs. B1 features "Anotha
Beat," combining hypnotic vocal tones, relentless percussion, and
intense synth stabs. The release closes with B2 "Brass Tac,"
offering a jazz-infused groove built around a live percussion loop |

Parisian label and collective Prima Materia is proud to present
the first 12" record in its 'Half Sided Series'. The aim here is to
offer a series of vinyls in the form of split EP's, with two producers each
proposing a side featuring the different styles of techno we love so much.
For this first opus, we invited Portuguese dj and producer Fresko (Hayes
Collective) and our resident Louis The 4th (Tar Hallow, Planet Rhythm, Prima
Materia). Louis The 4th opens Side A with 'Structured', a devilishly effective
percussive tool, followed by 'Instant Attraction' in the pure techno
tradition, where a hypnotic synth follows us all the way. Then Fresko takes
over on Side B, offering a more playful and colorful side with 'Cray' and
'Audio Space 2000', two tracks where mechanical grooves are accentuated by
the Portuguese artist's signature elements and fx, with a surgical level of
precision |

marks a significant milestone for That Divine with the launch of its in-house
record label. Spearheaded by core member artists Nicooly and Dylanh, along
with the rest of the team, the label aims to showcase the best of electronic
music talent, both locally and internationally, focusing on producing tracks
that lid the dancefloor on fire. The inaugural EP features tracks from
resident Dylanh, local DJ and producer Factuaw, and renowned artist
Christopher Ledger. The mastering is done by Rob Small and to complement the
auditory collector experience, That Divine will collaborate with visual
artists to illustrate one side of the record. For the debut release,
Bulgarian artist and avid raver Noyu Noev brings the story behind Dylanh's
track to life through his freestyle drawings on MS Paint, offering a unique
visual interpretation that enhances the listening experience. With plans for
future collaborations already underway, That Divine's label is set to make
waves in the global music scene. Dylanh presents a haunting tale of a man
with triple schizophrenia disorder, captured in a druggy horror movie-style
breakbeat track perfect for the early hours of the morning. Factuaw's
"Stranjah" captures the essence of the rave scene with its
evocative soundscapes, inspired by the sea breeze, dancing shadows, and the
euphoria of sunrise. Christopher Ledger remixes both tracks, adding his
unique touch to the release, promising an unforgettable listening experience
for electronic music enthusiasts. The second one will be released as a
surprise bonus at some point, keep your eyes and ears open |

The
early Reggae sound that came out of Jamaica between the years 1968 and 1971
became the soundtrack to the skinhead movement in the UK. Not only was the
music embraced but also the dress style of the Jamaican Rude Boys. The
skinhead style started around 1968 and by the following year 1969, had become
the style and fashion of the British teenagers. The uniform of the skinheads
consisted of boots, braces, button down shirts and jeans and the upbeat
reggae sounds seemed to match the style perfectly. The tempo of the music in
Jamaica had previously slowed down from the more up tempo beat of Ska to the
calmer pace of beat called Rock Steady. Some say this was to match the
extreme heat wave that was hitting the island between 1966 and 1968. But that
period had now passed and the evolution of the Reggae beat had again found a
new pulse to hang its songs by. A more up tempo beat that all Jamaicans,
British youths and various pockets of people around the world could groove
to. We have selected a cross section of tunes from those heady times, so sit
back and enjoy some of the tunes the youths were listening to when the
Skinhead Shuffle was all the rage. Hope you enjoy the set... Hope you enjoy

Dino
Lenny’s latest two singles for Belgian titan R&S Records get coupled
together for a vinyl release. ‘Lose Control’ and ‘Washington Street’ are both
served up with alternate mixes. The London based Italian producer fired out
another irresistible club heater on the ‘Lose Control’ single, racking up Top
Ten chart positions across the dance DSPs. On the Tea With Quincy Mix,
legendary American musician Jerry Hey in drafted in to add his unmistakable
horn playing to this version of ‘Lose Control. Hey is a highly seasoned
orchestrator and session musician, playing on hundreds of classic recordings
including Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’, ‘Rock With You’ and ‘Don’t Stop ‘Til
You Get Enough’, and also playing with Earth, Wind & Fire, Donna Summer,
Chaka Khan, Aretha Franklin, George Benson and numerous others, including
Quincy Jones, whom the mix title doffs its cap to. A special ‘4am Mix’ of
‘Washington Street’ from Dino Lenny himself sits on the flip side, a
propelling and heavyweight dancefloor cut laced with seductive saxophone and
climaxing with sparkling melodic electronics. ‘Lose Control’ / ‘Washington
Street’ by Dino Lenny is available on R&S Records from 23rd August 2024 |

Label-resident Stefan Vincent drops his first vinyl for Dynamic
Reflection. And what an EP 'Elephant's Foot' is; three mesmerizing originals
and an outstanding Linzatti remix on top. Stefan's shedding his 'upcoming'
status more and more and turning himself into an artist to watch. This EP is
another solid step in that direction |

London-based
artist Jonny cade has already enjoyed solid recognition for his releases on
the likes of 2020 Vision and Morris Audio. This time round, he raises his
game once again for Music Is Love's 10th release, dishing up a serious dose
of house goodness aimed squarely at the dance floor. Get On My kicks off
proceedings with hurrying drums that shuffle over a rumbling bassline until
90s inflicted keys quicken and build the tempo over the course of the track.
The ticking hi-hats, snares and hand claps are woven intricately over the
shifting key stabs, while a faint female vocal teases and whirls throughout.
Confused Keys slows the tempo slightly, with a more defined bassline paving
out against the groove laden percussion sequences and distorted vocal sample.
Elasticated keys ricochet off each other until a melodic interchange of pads
submerse at the break, slicing the elements of the beat and taking it closer
to peak-time. Nottingham's Nail adds resounding deepness with his mix of Get
On My. Shuddering key pads flourish to form the fore of the track, bouncing
off the percussive loops that rhythmically swing out over faint synths to add
a true deep breadth to his remix. Give it All Up finishes off the 4 track EP
the way it started: swift pace, swaggering 90's inspired house. A flurry of
claps and snares are matched by groove-heavy drums and a vocal sample that
upends the overall hands-in-the-air mood of the EP. Fomenting his own melodic
sound that is part house, part garage, Cades material is coherently woven
together, without ever being cast free from an underlying rhythmic house
groove throughout |
