Love and Revenge is a record of
consummate savagery and monster riffs. While following the Japanese tradition
of long running bands operating at their own pace and mastering their sound
along the way. The band leave behind their speedier sound, moving now at a
slower tempo but still pummelling their riffing sound. The incorporation of a
new drummer, adds much more than a steady beat, amplifying the KRIEGSHÖG
sonic experience. Their sound is bass-driven to the point of near hypnosis,
becoming quasi-psychedelic at times. The guitar tone is a nasty crunch and
the vocal delivery has only got more brutal, with a glass eating demon on the
mic conjuring the darkest side of your soul. Perfect for night rides into the
abyss. Their influences are still there. With KURO, ZOUO or THE CLAY shaking
hands with the darkest 70's hard rock via JERUSALEM and modern stoner rock

Jenny-Clark and drummer Jeff Brillinger, yielding exceptional versions of
Richie Beirach's title track and Wayne Shorter's 'Black Eyes,' as well as
Baker's 'Blue Gilles': he's on top form on the trumpet and tackles the vocal

Here at DGHQ we've been listening to their self-released debut album Trouble
In The Shed since last year and finally spoke with the band and agreed to
release it on vinyl for the first time. It was very good timing as they've
just been in the studio to finish recording their second album, so we'll be

album originally released in 2015. Porta Bohemica is the name of an old train
line that once connected Germany and Austria. Acclaimed singer-songwriter
Trixie Whitley, was inspired by the concept of such remote journeys when
choosing a title for her latest album. Her sophomore release, Porta Bohemica
(Strong Blood Music/BMI), represents an introspective expedition into the
depths of her creative identity, culminating in her resolve to fearlessly let
go of gratuitous baggage, not needed on future travels. "The metaphor of
an old train line feeds something in my imagination. I related to that sense
of travel when making this record because it was an epic undertaking. It
involved letting go of my past to embrace my individuality both as a young
woman and as an artist. This record has been something of a rebirth for
me," the Brooklyn-based artist says. From a very young age, Trixie
Whitely nurtured a singular creative spirit, springing from her restless
inner directive. At the ripe age of three, she made her onstage debut
alongside her father, the internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter Chris
Whitley. Never resting on her lineage, Trixie set out to craft a unique
personal and artistic identity. At age 10, she picked up her first
instrument, the drums. The following year, she emerged an intrepid DJ
spinning electronica, free jazz, and hip-hop. Throughout all of this, she
developed an affinity for punk rock's nonconformist and D.I.Y. ethics that
permeated her fearless genre-bending and daring life choices. After a nomadic
transatlantic existence, living between New York and Belgium, and touring
throughout Europe with several contemporary dance companies in her early
teens, she quit high school at age 17 and took a job slinging burgers at dive
while steadily advancing her music career. One of her early efforts impressed
the iconic producer Daniel Lanois (Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Emmylou Harris). He
enlisted her to front his own band, Black Dub, with drummer Brian Blade and
bassist Daryl Johnson. Since 2013, Trixie has emerged as a compelling solo
artist with three EPs and one full-length in her catalog. Fourth Corner, her
full-length debut, garnered acclaim from MOJO, Interview, ELLE, Relix, The
Village Voice, NPR and The New York Times, among many other publications.
Through its success, she's toured internationally and earned three
nominations, as well as a win for Best Female Artist at the 2013 Belgium Music
Industry Awards (MIAs). Trixie's prismatic artistry reflects electronica,
R&B, the vulnerable ethos of singer-songwriters, and the unapologetic
individuality of punk rock. Although her previous effort reflects her broad
tastes, it is with her latest that Trixie creates a transcendent musical
miscellany. It even took chucking an earlier version of the record and
starting over to achieve the meaning and mastery displayed in Porta Bohemica,
which flourished with the help of producer Gus Seyffert (Beck, The Black
Keys) and Joey Waronker (Atoms for Peace, Ultraísta). "I wanted to make
people think and feel something honest and emotionally complex in my
music--that came from me being present in the creative moment. I ended up
finishing two records, the second one being Porta Bohemica, and it really
came together at the end of the process," Trixie confides. The album is
bookended by the slow burning "Faint Mystery" and
"Visitor." The tracksare stately and spectral, elegantly
vulnerable, and convey a desire for lost love in contrasting yet cohesive
form. "When I started recording this album, I wanted to tap into
complete openness," Trixie explains. "New Frontiers" puts
forth a tender, ethereal soulfulness while "Visitor" cuts to the
core with Trixie's honeyed, longing vocals and lonesome piano accompaniment.
These tracks are the directional poles of the album, and capture the heart of
her artistry. Other standouts include the ominous electronic blues of
"Soft Spoken Words" and the lush "Salt." On
"Salt," Trixie's vision is at its grandest with rhythmic piano
melodies, atmospheric keys, a big guitar riff, and hypnotic hip-hop beats.
Throughout the album, Trixie's lyrics express a resilient emotionality.
"I hope my music generates a strength through vulnerability that invites
people to be courageous enough to explore what's inside," she says.
Porta Bohemica was nearly a two-year odyssey that profoundly changed the
artist. "I came to a lot of realizations making this record,"
Trixie reveals. "When you let go of your fears, you can start facing
your potential and there is an endless palette of possibilities to explore.
This is just the beginning, and I feel a lot of excitement and optimism about
what's to come." |

The
mighty U Roy is the originator, the man who put the DJ phenomenon on the map
and made it an artform. From Kingston Jamaica to the corners of all the
Dancefloors, Clubs and Sound Systems across the world. U Roy (B. Ewart
Beckford, 1942, Kingston, Jamaica) began his musical career spinning records
for Doctor Dickies Sound System way back in 1961. The mid sixties saw him
working for Sir George The Atomic before moving in 1967 to the man who best
shaped his sound King Tubby on his Home Town HI - FI. Tubbys work in the dub
field, dropping out vocals on his versions for the Sound Systems allowed U
Roy to voice over these spaces adding to the excitment of the Dance!!! U Roy
moved into the recording arena firstly cutting two disc's for Producer Lee
Perry 'Earths Rightful Ruler' and 'OK Corral' and then following this with
'Dynamic Fashion Way' and 'Riot' for Producer Keith Hudson. Producer Duke
Reid seeing the protential in this new found form brought U Roy to his
Treasure Isle Studios to voice over his back catalogue of Rocksteady Hits.
His first three releases for Duke Reid 'Wake The Town', 'Rule The Nation' and
'Wear You To The Ball' held the Top 3 positions for 12 weeks in early 1970's.
We have compiled some of U Roy's best loved cuts from his mid 70's period
when all were still looking at him for guidence. The opening cut Call On Me sees him working
over Delroy Wilson's 'Got To Be There'.
You Never Get Away gets U Roy answering Delroy Wison's 'Keep On
Rocking'. Johnny Clarke's 'Time Gonna Tell' with rootsy bassline turns into
Every Knee Shall Bow. Cornell Campbell the Gorgon himself gets his 'Check Mr
Morgon' turned into Gorgon Wise. Johnny Clarke's Hold On gets reworked. Jeff
Barnes 'Blowing In The Wind' tuned into Number 1 and alongside King of The
Road which sees Lennox Brown blow his saxophone over the instrumental 'In The
Swing of Things', was one of U Roys first releases. Linval Thompson's 'Let
Jah Arise' is versioned to Joyful Locks. I Originate which lends us to the

hit for Max Romeo Wet Dream sounds great under U Roy's new rendition. Two

Ekoplekz
is Nick Edwards from Bristol, UK. He made waves in the 2010s with his
distinctive brand of lo-fi analogue electronica for labels such as Planet Mu,
Mordant Music, Punch Drunk, WNCL and Perc Trax, while also playing live
around Europe. In recent times, Nick has preferred to remain a low-key
presence, but Selvamancer are excited to have coaxed him back with his first
vinyl release in 5 years! Dirtbokz is an 8 track mini-album that showcases
the Ekoplekz sound of now. Recorded as always on four track cassette using
hardware analogue synths and drum machines with minimal post-production, the
tracks retain a raw immediacy and the dirty, dub-infused sound that he was
always known for. For the Dirtbokz LP, Ekoplekz reaches back to the early
acid, electro and primitive rave of his youth, all mixed in a hazy
reverb-soaked echo chamber inspired by his love of '70s Jamaican dub reggae.

Entries again shines a spotlight on bathhouse disco don Patrick Cowley with a
newly remastered release of Kickin’ In. Although Cowley tragically passed
from AIDS-related illness in 1982, he left an extensive archive of unreleased
tapes, many of which Dark Entries has had the honor of releasing. While
working as a lighting technician at The City, SF’s disco cabaret, Cowley saw
rising star Frank Loverde perform. Cowley asked Loverde to contribute vocals
to some material in progress, and Frank, Linda Imperial, and Peggy Gibbons
joined Cowley in the studio. The resulting songs included “Kickin’ In,” a
9-minute cybernetic disco stormer that taps into the essence of Cowley’s
hi-NRG sound: equal parts spaced out and zoned in on the dancefloor. In May 1978 Cowley joined Loverde on stage
at The City to perform “Kickin’ In” as they opened for disco diva
Sylvester. “Kickin’ In” was initially
released in 2015 via Honey Soundsystem who found the tapes in the basement of
Megatone Records owner John Hedges. This newly remastered version was made
possible due to the discovery of the original multi-track recordings of
"Kickin’ In," allowing for a fresh mixdown by Jim Hopkins as well
as the creation of a new instrumental version. Also included are two
impeccably sleazy Cowley jams recorded in 1980, “Thief of Love” and “Make It
Come Loose.” Cowley narrates excerpts from his erotic journals on these
raunchy slow-burners, capturing the vibe of SF’s leather bars and
backrooms. “Thief of Love” features
frequent Cowley collaborator Paul Parker on background vocals. This reissue
of Kickin’ In includes features an illustration by Gwenaël Rattke that
originally appeared Cowley’s erotic journal, Mechanical Fantasy Box, as well
as a postcard with lyrics. “Patrick parted the veil and entered a dark world
of forbidden vices, wondrous musical panoramas and bold, strident, hopeful

Jonny
Dillon, also known as Automatic Tasty, has announced the release of his new
LP, "One Foot in the Rave," on Winthorpe Records. A staple in the
acid-inspired electronic music scene, Jonny has spent the last 15 years
releasing music on esteemed labels like Acid Waxa, Further Electronix, Lunar
Disko, Wrong Island, and CPU. His debut release on Winthorpe is an 8-track LP
of stylish and subtle machine braindance, set to drop on vinyl and digital
platforms on October 14th. "One Foot in the Rave" is a vibrant
collection that showcases Jonny's signature style--a blend of melodic,
melancholic acid jams, bleepy funk, and warm analog electronics. Whether for
the stereo or the sound system, the LP moves from the upfront bounce of
"The Apocalypse is Now" and "Raymond Tuesday's Big Day
Out" to the shimmering reverb of "Starry Night" and the
birdsong-infused "Ringfort." Listeners will find themselves in
familiar Automatic Tasty terrain, rich with psychedelic exploration.
According to Jonny, "What to say about this record? I don't really know
and it hardly matters. I wrote them on different bits of gear; ye olde
faithful Roland SH101, my MC202 (pencil and paper de rigeur), a battered
x0xb0x 1.0 (thx Daniel!), a beloved Yamaha Cs-5, a similarly beloved Roland
SH5, a truly hammered Juno106, a Roland JX3P, a Nord something or other, an
MPC2500, my TR606, and a Vermona DRM1 MKII being sequenced via a bedraggled
TR626. Also Jay's TR808 is on there (thx Jay!) and a TR8 being squashed
through a Mutronics Mutator (wheee Damo!) and a Zoom H4n recorder. I edited
them on a dilapidated laptop, with no headphones or monitors, steering by the
tiny speakers on the computer and playing them in my car, twiddling the mix
as I went. But these are frivolous and unimportant details. All that matters

Out Grooves from Hungary compiles ten of the most outstanding singles
recorded by the underdogs of this period. The psychedelic scene that never
was – the perfect subtitle to this compilation. There were barely any drugs
in Hungary to begin with. In this era, alcohol, music, and imagination have
served as the primary means of mind alteration among the youth. The Communist
party had a firm grip on culture through monopole control over venues, the
media, and the recording industry, western records were not available, clubs
enforced a strict dress code of suits, shirts, and longer skirts, and the
police harassed young men for not more than having long hair or wearing blue
jeans. There was, however, an
undercurrent of smaller semi-professional bands striving to succeed in the
shadow of the very few stars privileged by the sole state owned record
company. Given their chances to release music were at best limited to a few
7“ singles at the mercy of said record company powers. Psyched Out Grooves
from Hungary compiles ten of the most outstanding singles recorded by the
underdogs of this period. Some of the bands featured on here have eventually
reached wider success by switching to more commercial styles, like Bergendy,
Neoton, and Apostol. Most, like Echo, Meteor, Kék Csillag, Non-Stop, were
temporal formations that dissolved after a few years due to personal
conflicts, lack of success, or both. Others, like Scampolo or Juventus,
lasted a longer time without an actual break through. Most of these bands
never had a consistent, lasting ’psychedelic’ repertoire or identity at any
point. These tracks were the exception, not the norm. That coherence - the
illusion of a scene - comes from the curation and sequencing of Budabeats
head honchos Von Yodi and Gandharva. It is the arrangement of these puzzle

Balancing
ethereal ambient and hypnotic folk, Mattias De Craene's 'A House Where I
Dream' was written as an alternative soundtrack to Alejandro Jodorowsky's
1973 cult classic 'The Holy Mountain'. Belgian saxophonist, composer, and
producer Mattias De Craene (Nordmann, MDCIII) announces a new solo album, ‘A
House Where I Dream,’ on VIERNULVIER Records. On his second album, he
delivers a highly personal and healing journey, presented as an alternative
soundtrack to the 1973 cult film ‘The Holy Mountain.’ The record will be
released on October 11 on vinyl LP and through all digital platforms.
"The Holy Mountain" is a surreal Mexican film from 1973 directed,
written, and produced by Alejandro Jodorowsky, who also stars in the film.
The film holds a prominent place in avant-garde cinema and explores themes
such as spirituality, mysticism, and the quest for enlightenment. It is in
this vein that ‘A House Where I Dream’ is crafted. “My mind and soul - and
thus my music - come home to this motion picture” - Mattias De Craene. The
album will be presented live with the film on October 16 at Videodroom during
Film Fest Gent. ABOUT THE ALBUM: With hypnotic tape loops, grainy textures,
and mesmerizing saxophone, Mattias De Craene creates possible worlds that
herald a spiritual transformation. From the Scottish Highlands and desolate
mountains to the deepest recesses of the soul, this music has the power to
create cinematic landscapes that transcend time and space. The sound of these
8 tracks is closely related to the minimalist compositions of Terry Riley,
but the work of contemporary artists like KMRU or William Basinski is also
drawn from the same material. Above all, this album is a deeply personal
journey and unintentionally serves as a metaphor for De Craene's ascent of
his own mountain. For the Videodroom festival by Arts Center VIERNULVIER, the
saxophonist began working on a new soundtrack for the film ‘The Holy
Mountain’ in 2023, but his body and mind abruptly called him to a halt,
forcing him to take a professional break. However, this project never left
him, leading to an honest and raw quest to find himself as both a person and
an artist, with Jodorowsky as a companion de route and music as an anchor. It
initiated a long process of dismantling, searching, healing and back again.
The album not only provides a sanctuary for dreaming to all who listen, but
for its creator it also serves as both an outcry of despair and a source of
comfort during challenging times. All the tracks on 'A House Where I Dream'
share an unfiltered grain of life, as one can almost feel the damp breath of
the saxophone blowing. The album opens with the three-part strong
'Transcention,' where the hypnotic interplay between soprano sax and lo-fi
tape loops leads to higher realms of the mind and soul. Alternating between
deep frequencies and farout folk modalities, this mantra-like triptych
acquires an alchemical character and ultimately transcends time and space. In
the ethereal 'Away,' one can peer into an abyss of resonance while a
saturated tenor sax lends guidance in the spirit of Terry Riley's productions |

flyers. That's how, almost without realizing it, Lapsus was born in 2004.
Over the course of two decades, we've ridden a rollercoaster of emotions:

near defeat when we almost threw in the towel. Let's be honest: Making a
career out of music is not exactly choosing the easy path. But epic tales

of Shioi, a young girl who embarks on an intergalactic journey to avenge the

destroy the 'System Controller'. Aided by her 'Liquid Sound Device' she
undertakes the task journeying between the moons on her 'Model JP8080' and
meets various friends and foes on the way |

in the mystic of the electronic groove. To have this artist come up for the
label once again with the biggest work to date is an incredible honor and the
testament to the synergy of older sound and newer that aims be a powerful
tale on the modern dancefloor. “Garbage World” is what the story is about,
provoking a thought of the population that made it this way with their over
consumption, greed and neglection of the beautiful things that deserve love
and care in life. Our globe that induced a great level of pain due to its inhabitants
and still manages to hold it together despite bleeding profoundly. This has
been illustrated by the art of our visual guru Geka in the style of the art
of tattoo. The LP is not guaranteed to fix it, but for sure should make it a
little bit better in right hands and minds |

anniversary repress on coloured vinyl) 'Solar Nights' is the long awaited
second album from German nu-disco star Tim Bernhardt, aka Satin Jackets. It
followed on from Bernhardt's critically acclaimed, andGold certified, debut
LP 'Panorama Pacifico' and features 14 tracks of smooth disco and leftfield
pop sounds with guest appearances from the likes of Future Classic's Panama,
David Harks, Niya Wells, Emma Brammer and Anduze. The global success of
'Panorama Pacifico' has seen Bernhardt coaxed out from his remote studio in
one of Germany's ancient forests to play to fans across the world, from South
Korea to Mexico and beyond, experiences that inspired both the album itself
and its title, 'Solar Nights'. "In recent years the world's become smaller,
a more inter-connected place. It can be dark and cold here, with snow all
around, and the next day I can be playing to people on a beach. Somewhere on
the planet it's always daytime or summer, but beyond that day and night just
blend into each other these days," Tim explains. "We have daytime
discos so you can go and party while the sun is still high in the sky, and
you can go and hit the gym at night. Beit day or night, Satin Jackets is your
soundtrack." And what a soundtrack it is, from the first chords of
opening 'Welcome Back' it's clear we're in safe hands here, the warm pads,
delicate guitars and pianos providing the perfect introduction to the album.
Whether it's the slow burning seductive pop of tracks like 'Just Like You', piano
led house tracks like 'String It Again', the Balearic haze of 'All For You'
or bonafide hits like the Nordic inspired 'Northern Lights' and 'Mirage' that
between them have already scored well over 10 million streams across
streaming platforms, 'Solar Nights' takes everything we loved from 'Panorama
Pacifico' and polishes it to an ultra high sheen. And in an age when rough
and raw production is seen as an easy shorthand for authenticity, Tim's love
of über-smooth production has made him an unlikely iconoclast, "I had
always been fascinated by how glossy people like Nile Rodgers made their
music," he reveals. "It always sounded like the musical equivalent
of a fashion magazine's cover. I'd been making more underground music for a
while but really wanted to go in totally the other direction and instead
create a really smooth, polished sound." That obsession with sonic
fidelity shines through across every track on 'Solar Nights', and the years
since his debut was released have been well spent perfecting his craft.
"Even in just the last couple of years I've made some big changes in how
I produce music. Compared to my debut, everything under the hood has changed
here," he explains. "Every day, with every production, I'm learning
new things and when I listen to these new tracks, the depth in the mixes, the
clarity, I like to think of 'Solar Nights' as Satin Jackets but in 3D."
From wanting to recreate the sound of magazine covers to appearing on them,
the past few years has been quite some journey for the still enigmatic
producer. The man behind the golden mask may prefer to stay out of sight but
'Solar Nights' reveals him to be fully in control, producing music that
reflects the glamour and glitz of 70s Manhattan, artfully updated for the
21st century |

J. The A-side opens with Sébastien Léger's "Omira," a track that

Nuron / Fugue moved to the UK in the mid 80s. Soon after he went to his first
warehouse party. A real eye-opening experience that inspired Nurmad to
produce his own music. The first wave of early house and techno records from
Chicago and Detroit influenced an entire generation. Nuron became one of the
originators of the UK emotive techno sound with his unique and distinctive
style. Fast forward a couple of years to when this compilation of archived
DAT tape material was recorded. In the late 90s Nurmad was living back in
Malaysia. House music was just starting to be played in the underground clubs
over there. It was a great time and the vibe was very much like when Nuron
went to raves in the UK in 1989-1990. House music all night long! Al White
created all the graphic work. Mastered by Matt Colton at Metropolis. Stay

For
Fuse's fifth release, Brussels' Altinbas returns for a whirlwind of
meditative and harmonious techno. Solidifying his identity of focused yet
vibrant club music, the Fuse resident and label co-curator offers his second
contribution 'Sustain' as a dancefloor-enveloping take on modern techno.
Known for rich chords, whipping pads, and dry percussion, Altinbas proves
once again that his touch as a producer revolves around balance and
calculated effect. 'Trail of' kick starts the EP with flourishing synthwork
and a taste of dub as has become the Belgian artist's signature. Dotting toms
as rhythmic accents and a low to the ground shaker make for a swaying
introduction with an infectious groove. Breaking things up in the second
track, 'Life Force' presents Detroit style chord stabs and playful rhythmic
work. With a mental synth at the foundation, the track presents 909 drums to
reinvigorate atmospheric synths that make 'Life Force' a subtle hybrid of
classic club genres. With a wink at Fuse's heritage and a peak into its
future, Altinbas' focus on enduring music can be felt throughout 'Sustain'
and truly understood in the Brussels club. As a fitting follow up, 'Purpose'
opens the B-side with illuminating chords and rounded sound design and a
pulsating low-end. With almost a lighthearted tone, the record fits across
genres and rooms, claiming movement instead of mood as its sole medium. The
title track 'Sustain' proves just that - a melodic sequence and progressive
arrangement make for an intensely euphoric closing. Evolving melodies,
opening filters, and big but calculated buildups sum up Altinbas's work for
Fuse's fifth release on the new label. The record brims with warmth and yet
it finds its way on darker dance floors with ease, providing a refined style
of music that belongs only to him across the international scene |

Following
up on last years debut release, Chontane returns with Manx, the second EP on
his label, TANE. This five-track collection continues his exploration of
sound design, moving into fresh territory while retaining the distinctive
energy that marked TANE001. With TANE002, Chontane invites listeners into a
diverse sonic landscape, emphasizing mood, texture, and the subtle
intricacies of rhythm. Manx marks a significant progression in Chontanes
artistry, expanding on the foundation set by TANE001, which echoed the
nostalgia of 90s and early 2000s rave culture. While his first EP blended
old-school, rave-inspired techno, atmospheric tracks, and a touch of jungle,
TANE002 boldly ventures into new, uncharted territories. It challenges
traditional genre boundaries, delving deep into the potential of sound
design, and offering a forward-thinking perspective that feels attuned to the
future. The EP highlights Chontanes dedication to capturing a wide spectrum
of moods and textures within a single record. The title track, Manx sets the
stage with a dark, hypnotic presence. Rich in layered textures and
atmospheric undertones, the track fuses a powerful kick with resonant toms,
deep subs, and eerie pads. Haunting, glitchy vocal snippets add an extra
dimension, making Manx a compelling, immersive experience. On Gazebo, the EPs
A2 track, Chontane shifts the energy, delivering a composition that balances
driving rhythms with a melodic core. The combination of dynamic drums with an
epic, mystical theme creates a piece thats both uplifting and introspective,
standing out for its ability to evoke grandeur while maintaining a sense of
optimism. The B-side leans into a more shadowy atmosphere, with Oolean
blending metallic percussion and a throbbing bassline. The tracks ominous
pads and powerful kick drum propel it forward, creating a narrative thats
intense and captivating. B2 offers a fitting conclusion to the vinyl release,
presenting a track that blends dreamy, atmospheric melodies with a robust
kick and driving sub-line. The mystical qualities of this composition make it
an evocative and memorable closer. The digital-only track, Thumb Print,
rounds out the EP with a relentless, peak-time experience. Its hypnotic
rhythm and expansive sense of scale make it a standout track, perfect for
igniting dance floors and capturing listeners attention. Chontanes Manx EP
