This, one of the greatest radio
shows ever made onto a record as it combines a Radio interview with Roky
Erickson in full gloom while he is presenting the demos of tracks that may
ended up on the great great The Evil One LP Earlier versions of mine mine mind,
two headed dog, and click your fingers applauding the play previously
released on vinyl by France's Sponge Records in 1976.. The bonuses
(interviews, demos, rarities) are dandy, but the album is treasure enough.
Its retro-metal chops have more kaboom than the irony-diluted pap of current
poseurs, and its bent lyrics mop the floor with wannabe-kooks like Jad Fair.
Some savvy touches- such as Roky's progressive pre-PC designation that the
swamp monsters are 'alligator-persons'- hint that Roky was more lucid than he
let on |

How many bands can say they had
multiple debut albums? For crustcore sound terrorists Extreme Noise Terror,
Holocaust In Your Head - The Original Holocaust, first recording version,
continues to excuse itself in being reissued for what must be the last time
before the last time. It's no wonder why. We The Helpless is every bit as
hopeless as it sounds - a blitzkrieg of wails and nightmarish sonics that
tighten themselves around the temples until the eyes turn white. Statement
will always stand on its own two feet as a perfect set opener and Innocence
to Ignorance's unhinged atmospheric armageddon as well as Use Your Mind's
sample-sprung assault on the senses are possible indications of where the
band could've wound up had their line-up not been walking such a shaky
tightrope. Rough as hell? Sure. But if you want to know what it feels like to
have the signal input of your skull reflect a separation in the grounding
circuit of the flesh from the neck down, then carry on screaming |

7 were formed in 1997 by producers Henry Binns and Sam Hardaker. In 2001
their debut album Simple Things was released selling over a million copies to
date and was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize. They released their
second album When It Falls in 2004. When it was originally released, When It
Falls was a UK Top 10 album, peaking at no.4 in the UK album charts and spent
24 weeks in total in the charts. It has sold over a quarter of a million
copies. Stateside the album entered the Billboard Dance/Electronic chart at
#3 and stayed in the Top 20 of that chart for almost thirteen months. Singles
taken from the original album include Home featuring Tina Dico, and Warm
Sounds featuring Mozez. Sia and Sophie Barker also feature on the album, with
tracks such as Somersault (a UK Top 100 single), In Time and Speed Dial No.
2. This special run of coloured vinyl (transparent orange (A/B side) &
green (C/D side) celebrates the albums 20th anniversary. It uses the original
artwork but now pressed on heavyweight colour 180g vinyl. Cutting is by

Over
the summer of 2024 Adam F has been releasing a series of reboots on 181
Recordings - the label founded with vocalist and partner Kirsty Hawkshaw. As
a precursor to his forthcoming album he follows up ‘Brand New Funk Revisited
Reboots’ and ‘Music In My Mind Revisited / Reboots’ with painstakingly
re-recorded and rebooted versions of his seminal track ‘Circles’, with a
Reboot by Adam F, as well as the first official release of the Pola &
Bryson & Adam F reboot - which has been causing a storm on DnB
dancefloors worldwide. “‘Circles’ is one of the first tracks where I could
express my influences with no boundaries. The music became known as Drum n’
Bass but started off as hard core Rave and Jungle. One of the greatest things
about it for me was that I could express myself through that medium using all
my influences; funk, soul, reggae and jazz - freely and unrestricted.” says
Adam F on the release. “Circles has evolved over time with very solid and
rich roots. Behind the hooks, basslines and such there are great textures.
Saxophone, trumpet, Keyboards and synthesisers contributing to a free flowing
arrangement drawing on my love of jazz musicians indulging my own personal
imaginative dreamscape of sound. Ultimately I want it to be crafted into

A
unique, dreamy Dutch-language indie-folk record reminiscent of Jessica Pratt
and Joni Mitchell. Catbug is the
project of singer-songwriter Paulien Rondou who grew up in Duisburg, a
Belgian village near Tervuren. After completing her 'Cabaret' studies at the
Antwerp Conservatory, Paulien moved to her mother and stepfather's little
farm in Westmalle. Although she left without any specific goal in mind, it
didn't take long for the first wonderful songs to originate in this
environment. Catbug released her debut album Universe back in 2018. A record
that immediately put her on the map within the Belgian music landscape.
"Since the release of King Fisher, Catbug's first song, we have been
sitting here on the edge of our seats", Radio 1 wrote about it at the
time. Despite the fact that her musical career had clearly taken a direction,
Paulien did not feel comfortable living the big city life. That said, it
didn't take long before she left Antwerp behind to run the organic farm De
Paardebloemhoeve in Malle. As it turned out, that farm was the ideal habitat
for Paulien to work on her first Dutch-language album slapen onder een
hunebed peacefully and quietly. This album was also well received in Belgium
and was even picked up by Japanese label Think!Records. In one way or
another, Catbug's music reached the Japanese label and, upon their request,
several hundred vinyls were immediately sent out to Japan. In no time, all
vinyls were sold out. Despite the fact that Catbug's lyrics are sung in
Dutch, the people in Japan love her music. Now, three years later, there's
the brand new album Musjemeesje. The album has become an ode to all the
birdson and around the farm, which again served as the breeding ground for
all the new songs. One winter day in 2021, Paulien was given a pair of
binoculars as a gift and decided to learn as much as she could about the
birds on and around the farm. Soon she learnt to recognize the distinctive
sounds and ways of flying of many different species, and a separate story
began to form with each bird. There was something in them that Paulien
identified with, and she wanted to try to map it out. This is where the idea
was born of writing an album of songs about birds. "Birds always manage
to uplift and inspire me with their crazy habits and their twittering. They
reach out to the child in myself", Paulien added herself. For this
album, Paulien worked with producer Aiko Devriendt again, who also did the
mix. They recorded the album in pianist Guy Van Nuyten's studio and just like
they did the last time, a conscious choice was made to keep it sober. Less is
more. This resulted in a unique, dreamy Dutch-language indie-folk record
reminiscent of Jessica Pratt and Joni Mitchell |

post-punk is no easy task. While punk was defined by a raw, rebellious
simplicity, post-punk (1978-1986) expanded into a diverse array of sounds and
ideas. It maintained punk's independent spirit but embraced experimentation,
incorporating influences from various musical and cultural traditions,
resulting in a movement far more eclectic and fragmented than its
predecessor. At its core, post-punk broke away from traditional rock
structures, blending genres like industrial, goth, and punk-funk with
emerging dance music cultures. This era's spirit of innovation and defiance
against musical norms continues to inspire, making post-punk a pivotal moment
in music history that defies easy categorization. Tony Thorpe presents
Postpunk Theory - Alpha ? is a meticulously curated compilation by the
legendary Tony Thorpe, known for his work with The Moody Boys, 400 Blows, and
The KLF. These classic tracks were played at parties by Thorpe at the time,
making them his personal classics. The compilation features 16 rare and
sought-after tracks from the post-punk era, including works by Mark Stewart
and The Maffia, Basement 5, 23 Skidoo, African Headcharge, and more. Growing
up in a vibrant musical environment in South London, Thorpe was deeply
influenced by the eclectic sounds around him, from jazz-funk to Brit-Funk,
and later, the post-punk records he discovered. As Thorpe recalls,
"Post-punk was a mishmash of different cultures and ideas. Out of
post-punk came dance music culture. That period was the most creative time
because the culture was in its experimental phase." This compilation
captures that innovative spirit, offering a glimpse into the era that shaped
Thorpe's musical journey. The album comes as a limited 2xLP set, accompanied

Karel
Cuelenaere, in the wake of Black Flower, John Ghost and Ping O.D. has gained
numerous compliments from the international press. Louder Than War (UK) talks
about his "incredible keyboard virtuosity" and OOR (NL) labels him
as a "descendant of Keith Emerson". The Standaard (Belgium praises
his "decisive contribution to the sound" of the aforementioned
bands. While Karel is now mainly perceived as a keyboardist within the prog-,
rock- and hybrid jazz scene, with KCT - abbreviation of Karel Cuelenaere Trio
- he resolutely opts for the grand piano. He is assisted by double bass and
drums, respectively performed by Cyrille Obermüller and Gert-Jan Dreessen,
both highly respected musicians in the Belgian jazz scene. The trio is
stylistically anchored in the Belgian jazz tradition, building on the work of
Aka Moon, Octurn and Jozef Dumoulin, among others, and incorporates the
atmosphere of 'saudade', a kind of melancholy that Karel got to know on a
tour in Brazil and recognizes in the recordings of pianist Keith Jarrett
during the 60s. "Adult Swing" is the first full album as KCT and is
immediately one that will put the trio firmly on the map |

presents her Blueprint Records debut with the "Torpor EP". Chloe is
a resident DJ at Tresor. She's played at Berghain, Boiler Room, Khidi,
Movement weekend in Detroit, and countless clubs, festivals and parties
across Asia, Europe, and North and South America alongside artists like
Kanding Ray, Helena Hauff and Lewis Fautzi, becoming known for atmospheric,
acidic sets that dig deep into the niche recesses of techno. In addition to
her career as a DJ and producer, Lula is a cellist-her debut instrumental

In
the wake of a string of record releases, Token's curator returns to his label
with 'Angels Landing' to highlight his mission statement. Four cuts of
delirious and dissonant techno from the Belgian artist have proven to be a
stylistic favorite in both his productions and his DJ sets. With a wink to
older production techniques, Kr!z keeps this contribution to Token fresh and
efficient while reaffirming the historic label's sonic identity. While using
a steady bassline for his tracks, Kr!z ups the ante with a Detroit-style pad
that floats around the rest of the record for the 'Angels Landing' title
track. By opening and closing hihats, rolling the claps all along, and
pitching his rides, he creates tension by fully utilizing his drum
machine.The synth stabs and overall pace make for a modern twist, however;
it's applicable music for layered sets that the Token boss has been known for
performing over the years. This dance-ready, nostalgic-nudging kind of techno
is spread throughout the entirety of the EP, but is most transparent on the
B1 'Oblivion'. Key stab sequences have been iconic in the scene for some
time, but it's Kr!z's persistence and minimalism that renders this track so
exciting. Opening and shutting filters, sliding portamento, and pushing the
release, the seasoned artist manifests tension through minimal elements and
relies on his transitions to keep up the pace. Usually juggling between
rounder and sharper sound design, 'Medusa' boasts both; Kr!z's electric lead
bites a low- swaying synth line. Destined for peak use, complete with white
noise transitions and open rides, Kr!z combines the sound of a club at its
climax with his almost psychotic low-mid arpeggio to createone of his most
hypnotic tracks to date. 'Ninth Circle', on the other hand, dials it back as
the last track. More keys, yet obscure in intention and effect, the closer
creates a question mark at the end of the EP with big transitions and a
groovy use of toms. Cementing himself as a game player in production as much
as in DJing, Kr!z's 'Angels Landing' continues his search in eerie sounds and
expressive drums to add to his label's catalog of savant club music. early

originator David Morales, St. Xose, patron saint of afterhours, re-rubs his
own entry from BKS-01 into an electro flip with a forceful but smooth strut,
Nathan Nothing's ephemeral vocals vanishing in spaces between steady bass
pulses and broken beats. Those looking for late-night addresses check Noha's
'Madison Street 932', where the PanickPanick! label head proves his local
cred with a funky, vocal sample-driven house jam equally at home on its
eponymous street corner or somewhere later, darker, and preferably inside.
Label regulars DeWinter & Emma return with 'Unity', the spoken word
Spanish vocals interweaving with choppy snare patterns and a room-filling
reverberating bass roar that hits paydirt when English vox and a kick hit
late in its second half. C&K are local legends Connie & Karina, and
while that may not be some punters' first guess for their moniker's meaning,
the track is an exercise in restraint and class, jaunty house swathed in dub
echoes and hand drums that positively sways when the trombone lead swings in
to carry the tune |

The four-track EP Reinos
Elementales opens with El Descenso de Inanna, an electrifying track
characterized by dark atmospheres and a compelling rhythm that transports the
listener on a journey as energetic as it is introspective. Uroboros, the
second track on the EP but the first to be composed, was born from the
artists first jam session. A rhythmic journey characterized by the cyclical
alternation of dub sounds and organic elements, conveying a warm and vibrant
sensation thats hard to resist. Malachite is another gem for the dance floor,
where the elements intertwine fluidly between an urgent rhythm and a
liberating atmosphere. Finally, Stato Liminare is the last track composed by
the duo a perfect B2 that adds a touch of surprise to the EP with its fractured
and deep rhythm. The composers recite a mantra in their native language,
creating a magical and hypnotic vocal line that offers a sense of suspension

LES CHAKACHAS 'Disco
Sudamericana' has been released by CBS Sugar in 1974 and when originally came
out did not receive the attention it deserved. At least not the same of the
previous album, a club classic with dancefloor bangers as 'STORIES' and 'THE
PARTY'. But if we take a deeper look at the album, 'Disco Sudamericana' is
much richer in terms of catchy tracks and killer grooves. 'SUPER CAT', 'LIZA
& BROOKS' or 'SELLING MANGO' are just some of the peaks here. It is then
amazing to discover that such an exotic band came from Belgium ! We stress to
remember anyway that Tito Puente wife is the lead singer here, giving the
session an appealing latin flavor. LES CHAKACHAS is yet another major release
on the legendary EASY TEMPO label, offering this time two extra tracks not
featured on the original release ! |

Maelstrom
returns to Central Processing Unit for the fourth time, and it's the one born
Joan-Mael Péneau's lengthiest drop on the Sheffield label yet. The French
artist has been a mainstay in the European electro game since the 2000s, and
Malestrom brings that experience to bear on new LP The FM Tapes. He goes
about this album with the assurance of a seasoned pro, combining his mastery
of electro production techniques with a trademark guile to craft an
expertly-paced eleven-track affair. The first section of The FM Tapes sets
out the album's stall with style and aplomb - listeners are in store for a
rich feast of off-kilter machine-funk which will feature no shortage of
intriguing detours. On opener 'Ondes Courtes' the mix throbs with all manner
of strange electronic gristle: a distorted bass hum rattles the monitors;
wisps of distortion float across the mix; eerily pretty keys wax and wane
before giving way to a radar pulse. 'Ondes Courtes' is an ominous slouch of a
scene-setter, and it lines things up perfectly for following cut 'Alt50ser'
to lock in. This track's churning, gurgling mid-tempo rattle brings to mind
the wacky insistence of Modeselektor. Maelstrom repeats the slow-fast one-two
again directly afterwards - 'La Vie Sociale Des', a strange nugget that
sounds like an early Eski instrumental stripped for parts and blasted into
the cosmos, is an ideal prelude to the twitchy space-funk of 'My Digitone'.
Maelstrom's staying power in the electro world comes, in no small part, from
his ability to apply his delightfully idiosyncratic choices to some of the
genre's staple production tropes. On The FM Tapes, he marks himself out once
more as a pleasingly unorthodox talent by taking tracks in unexpected
directions to produce surprising - and often rather moving - results. There
are multiple cuts here which channel the more cerebral end of Richard D.
James' AFX/Analord output: 'My Digitone' may be a quicksilver techno-electro
number, but there's still something cinematic about the synth treatment here
which softens the edges; 'Suede's minor-key oscillations bring other CPU
veterans like Cygnus and Bochum Welt into view; 'Res 06', one of two Fasme
collaborations on the record, is full of pathos even as the beat programming
bangs and whirrs throughout. While there's a deep emotional undercurrent to
The FM Tapes, though, Maelstrom's commitment to bringing the thrills surfaces
time and again. If 'Res 06' had Maelstrom and Fasme getting wistful, the
album's other Fasme link-up 'Trempo' is one of the hardest club joints here,
a piece of old-school Detroit energy replete with some great cascading drum
production. Indeed, 'Trempo' comes in the middle of a run towards the album's
end where Maelstrom takes the handbrake off - there's a wild-eyed sense of
fun to 'The Operator' and 'Upside Down DX7' which has one thinking of the
zany cut-and-thrust of KiNK's best work. Maelstrom's latest drop for
Sheffield's Central Processing Unit label is an album of leftfield electro

Minimal wave legend Das Ding is
back on Electronic Emergencies after 10 years with a stunning selection of
archival tracks from retrieved tape recordings. In the early eighties, Danny
Bosten got together with his friends after school in his bedroom studio,
somewhere in the bleak Dutch countryside. They experimented with cheap
analogue gear and made music to kill time. The sound is raunchy and slightly
experimental, but already unmistakable Das Ding. New wave, early EBM and
proto techno are found this album, pressed on clear vinyl. To preserve the
original atmosphere and sound, the tapes received the Ruud Lekx mastering

drummer, percussionist and singer who's played with Jimi Tenor & Kabukabu
for more than 20 years explores the fields of classic Roots Reggae, Afro and
Dub as well as uptempo modern African rhythms and ballads. This Jimi Tenor
produced album is an expansion of Ekowmania's tribute song to Kwame Nkrumah

delightful beat pattern with adistinctive cymbal hit set over warm bass tones
and whale song samples. A smooth, thoughtful bass melody is introduced which
joyfully intersects with gorgeous piano keys while swirling strings and
atmospheric vibes layer and recede like tides of the ocean, creating a truly
unique journey of a track that will linger anywhere it may be heard. A2 -
Voidscaping: Instantly setting the scene with crisp, striking breaks,
Voidscaping is an atmospheric treatfor the senses with serene throwback pads
reminiscent of the halcyon days of Good Looking. Bringing the piece up to
date for the Spatial era is the typically intricate blending of reflection
and intrigue ASC conjures with his sampling and reverb work, effortlessly
thickening the soundscape with memories old and new. AA1 - Let Go: Opening
with the vibrant sounds of twilight nature and metallic bongos, ASC
sparinglydeploys a glorious choral vocal before the breaks take off with an
energetic pattern drivenby constant, playful hi hats. As the track develops,
questions are asked of the listener bythe curious atmosphere, gradually
unraveling with strings, synths and trademark vocalusage, offering a new
perspective with each listen. AA2 - Meltdown: A darkly, anxious undertone
floods the mix as Meltdown grips the listener from the first barwith

a club-friendly chrysalid onto deploying his wings as a full fledged pop
artist in recent years, Saint Petersburgs Kito Jempere has enjoyed a journey
unlike any other and his newest album, Part Time Chaos Part Time Calmness
live-documents the chameleonic changes / game-changing paradox experienced
this year between his life both as a musician and as a family man. Better
known for his work as a house producer which has earned him accolades from
prominent dance music outlets throughout well over a decade of intense work
both into and outwith the limelights, Kito has for all that never been
focussed on writing solely discoid material, throwing as much effort over the
years into multi-faceted parallel ventures, far and apart from strictly dance
floor-oriented functionality. Yet, from this partition between various
projects and mindsets, this is through a radical shift towards downtempo pop
and out of the 4x4 loop that Kito got to fully assert himself as a musician,
embracing the rejoicing variety of tone and mood of his tender loves, secret
and not. The movie Ive never made but have the soundtrack for, Part Time
Chaos Part Time Calmness is the fruit of change as much as change itself. A
return to the simple means of his young self, his old trusty guitar from his
late teens serving as the backbone to Killer Line and Love Myself But I Cant
Make It Love, and the natural development to last years Green Monster, which
initiated these deep tectonic movements in Kitos approach to his art, PTCPTC
is an intimate trip down the kaleidoscope of his present life. Joined up by
an impressive cast of artists, including Jimi Tenor, Adam Evald and Hard Ton,
Kito didnt just bin his old persona, he took it back to where it belongs.
From the low-slung emotional folk of the opener, Killer Line, to the eerie
flamenco-jazz hybrid Before Music Dies. via the broken soulfulness of Put
Love Into Your Heart and anthemic 80s balearic breaks meets coastal synthwave
vibe of Sounds of Love, the album pulsates with a refreshingly genre-unbound
vision. To the naive, laid-back sonic bokeh of Footsteps, succeeds the
left-of-centre cinematic narrative of In The Countryside, which includes some
fun nods to fictional brands taken from Tarantinos imaginarium (Red Apple
cigarettes) or other movies like High Fidelity, after Nick Hornbys eponymous
novel. Freed from gridlocked programming and impersonal tropes, PTCPTC
showcases a wide array of songs, beats, grooves old and new, some dating back
to 2018 and improvised sessions with his 9-people Kito Jempere Band, all of
which were finished within the same timeframe and with this all-inclusive
momentum in mind. Through the epic synths of Absent Ascent. in revamping the
universal classic Over The Rainbow with Celebrine, on the appeasing ballad
Shorespotting feat. Evald or in the waves-ready closing cut Lovers, Jempere
tells a tale of hard-earned emancipation and life-affirming freedom |

misinformation) It is tough to deal with life and everything that comes on

and raised in Sicily but now based in Berlin, SLV is known for his innovative
approach to techno and its various shades. He has released on revered labels
like Soma and received support from key industry players who respect his
ability to blend old-school vibes with modern production techniques. Away
from the club, he also produces music for film soundtracks, adding a sense of
cinematic edge to his techno cuts and is a master of both analog and digital
technologies - a true audio engineer who crafts unique, compelling sounds.
Having previously featured on the labels Federation of Rytm III compilation,
he returns to SHDWs Mutual Rytm imprint with his Night Echoes EP to open up
October. Graustufen opens with punch drum programming and scintillating percussion
that dances atop the groove as booming bass brings serious weight down low.
The superb Grand Cayman is another potent techno weapon, this time with icy
synth atmospheres and eerie moods pervading the tightly programmed drums and
bass to deliver an unstoppable force. Voids brings urgent funk with its
hunched-over, closely stacked kicks and suspensory pads, which never let up
and keep you locked in the moment, while Elastik Pho echoes a classic Detroit
