Straitjacket with Freddie Wadling
on bass and vocals was one of the first punk bands in Sweden. The first gig
took place at a motorcycle club and at a gig shortly afterwards, the band was
offered money by the organizer to leave the stage prematurely. The band split
in the summer of 1978 and the members continued in bands such as Liket lever,
The Leather Nun and Blue for Two. Straitjacket never had time to make an
album, but we have searched in the members' stashes and can more than 40
years later finally release the mythical Gothenburg punks on LP. The album
consists of a collection of demos and a live recording from the last concert
at the legendary club Errol's in 1978 |

The Velvet Underground were
undoubtedly one of the most important bands on the history of rock music. But
their greatest line-up broke up in the late 1960's, and where not to reform
for nearly 30 years. However, as early as 1972 the two prime movers teamed up
with original chanteuse Nico, for this historic album which was recorded
during a live show at the Bataclan club in Paris, on January 29, 1972, and
was originally broadcast on French TV. The concert marked the first time
since the breakup of The Velvet Underground that Reed, Cale and Nico were on

West is crumbling. It's values, once unshakable, have buckled under the
weight of a world spinning ever faster and growing ever more hollow. Revival
Of The West, Blue Gene's debut album, is his exploration of this collective
malaise-a call to rediscover meaning in a world that has grown estranged from
itself. On his debut, Blue Gene gives voice to the contemporary themes that
keep him awake at night: consumer hysteria, the numbing grip of social media,
the solace found at the bottom of a bottle, the crushing weight of taxes, and
the paralyzing complexity of a world where humanity seems to have been
reduced to a cog in the machine. Yet, despite all the despair, his songs
always carry a spark of hope: after the fall, you can rise again. These
stories are wrapped in the sound of classic country music-music about life as
it truly is: bent, battered, but full of resilience. This is country as it
was meant to be: raw and honest. Not perfect-and it doesn't need to be. The
beauty lies in the off-note, the stumbling rhythm, the simplicity of three
chords that tell you everything you need to know. Blue Gene's country music
is the song of a man wrestling with life and himself, infused with humor,
sharp lyrics, and anecdotal musical moments. Because sometimes, we just need
to remember to laugh. In short, it's a mirror showing us our demons, but also
a reassurance that teaches us how to live with them. And yet, the question
lingers: who is Blue Gene? Is he just a country singer putting strugglesto
music? Or is he a modern Robin Hood in cowboy boots, a voice trying to do
justice to lost ideals? Blue Gene exists in the grey area where music and
meaning meet-and it's precisely there that he finds his strength. Revival Of
The West is no nostalgic longing for a bygone era. It's an invitation to
reinvent the values we've lost. It urges us to return to a place where life
can be honest again-where music doesn't aim to please, but to say something
real. Because sometimes, a song is all it takes to make sense of the world
around us. Blue Gene (vocals & rhythm guitar) is joined on Revival Of The
West by his loyal band of outlaws: Nathan Ysebaert (lead guitar &
vocals), Tijl Van de Casteele (drums & percussion), and Tom Vienne (bass
guitar, saxophone & vocals). The record is further enriched by guest
appearances from Bart Vervaeck (pedal steel), Nils De Caster (violin,
mandolin), Mathijs Steels (piano), Ciska Dhaenens (vocals), and Harry
Descamps (vocals). Recorded in spring 2023 by Michiel Renson, mixed by Jan

Following
the launch of his new music label, Early Morning, in September 2024, Guy J
sets the stage for its sophomore release-an immersive two-track concept by
acclaimed producer Roy Rosenfeld. Roy, an artist whose productions often
transcend genre boundaries, offers near-17-minute material with an
imaginative work that captures attention and a creative depth. The opening
track, "Forgotten," evolves with a measured intensity, layering
elements that cultivate a ritualistic atmosphere. The arrangement unfolds
through indigenous-percussive influences, steadily progressing towards a
resonant climax. By the third act, rich, deep chords punctuate the experience
with a sense of calm, only to transition into a melodic break followed by the
tribal-inspired crescendo. Equally compelling, the closing "Hello"
begins with an 80s arcade-inspired, lo-fi aesthetic juxtaposed against
high-fidelity beats. Driven by ethnic percussion, it conjures the raw energy
of ancient rituals, evoking primal imagery of witch doctors dancing around
fires to honor the cycles of life. Here, Rosenfeld merges traditional,
futuristic, and vintage synth elements in a call to fellow producers,
challenging them to innovate while empowering dancers to embrace nights of hedonistic
freedom |

Soolmaan
is a sextet led by Belgian oud player and composer Tristan Driessens,
accompanied by Nathan Daems, Christos Barbas, Annemie Osborne, Andrea
Piccioni, and Levent Yildirim. Together, they create sound tableaus that
float freely between the Bosphorus and India, with flute, sax, ney, cello,
piano and tamburello igniting an imaginary folklore infected by jazz.
Releasing their second album ‘Kashgul’ on the 24th of January with Zephyrus
Records. (Vinyl / CD). Driessens began his career immersed in the classical
music of the Ottoman court, founding the Lâmekân Ensemble in 2011. After
training under oud virtuoso Necati Çelik in Istanbul, he returned to Belgium
in 2016 to form Soolmaan, an ensemble that reflects his multi-faceted
identity. Rooted in Eastern modal traditions, Soolmaan’s music bridges jazz,
folk, and classical influences, creating a unique and contemporary sound.
Their 2017 debut album, ‘Letters to Handenberg’, was described as
"oriental chamber jazz," with Istanbul serving as a common thread.
With Kashgul, their latest release, Soolmaan explores Ottoman makam, Indian
raga and Anatolian halk muzigi, blending these traditions with a contemporary
modal language. Created during Driessens' artist residency at the
Concertgebouw of Bruges, the album features original compositions alongside
reimagined works by Ravi Shankar, Amjad Ali Khan, and Art Pepper. With
improvisation as a connecting factor, Soolmaan’s music invites listeners into
rich, boundary-crossing soundscapes where tradition and innovation meet.
Kashgul exemplifies the ensemble’s ability to craft an immersive musical
experience that resonates deeply with diverse audiences. Upcoming concerts:

“Taking
our time” has become a sort of ESP modus operandi, often proving that when
variables are left to cook long enough—relationships, styles, politics,
moments in culture—we may collectively yield a more considered result. Once
in a 'Blue Moon', we set sights on a record that conducts some strange
voodoo, some rare combination of elements that commands our entire being.
Entering our atmosphere with a concise 6-track debut, dub technician Brendon
Moeller has brought us exactly that. Although we’ve long been admirers
Brendon’s work, separated by only a few degrees—he and ESP’s Lovefingers are
the same age and shared a decade of salad days in New York City—it took
another decade before enough courage was mustered to suggest we actually work
together. Our reticence has seen Brendon’s aesthetic and palette evolve over
the years, and the label has simultaneously sculpted a tone of its own, but
now we’re more than proud to finally marry his highly refined output with
our, let’s say, “deliberate” appetite. 'Blue Moon' touches everywhere Brendon
has been as an artist—from the obtuse corners of ambient to IDM, dub techno
to liquid drones and bass—yet the vocabulary is honed and succinct, relying
on a very intentional handful of expressions. This is almost an exercise in
restraint, all 6 tracks are delivered from a disciplined and committed
point-of-view, but what we find most captivating is the exploration that this
allows in terms of depth, texture, fluidity and pacing. There is a complexity
hidden in plain sight that begs to be studied, a comfort that allows us to
slip inside like a warm bath, an addictive tingling sensation that we must
prolong indefinitely. Even as we write this testimonial, the album is going
on a fourth repeat and we languish the intervening silence between tracks.

Brazilian
artist Acid Asian steps up to Charlotte de Witte's KNTXT imprint with his
Deep Soul EP, which explores the many different facets of his sound from rap
and trap to techno and psytrance. Fábio Seiki is São Paulo-based and started
this project in 2020 during the pandemic. Since then he has made an impact
with his fresh blend of influences and love of his 303. In 2022 he was the
first artist to release on Charlotte de Witte's sub label, RPM, with his
Break Into Acid EP and followed it up last year with The Night EP. On Deep
Soul EP, he says: "The title track is one of my favourites because it
represents me 100%. Focusing on the acid line with this mantra vocal, I
wanted to express something more deep to this track. 'Space Colors' is a
track with which I wanted to express this new hard techno era using the
hardstyle's kick but keeping my style. 'Ain't Nobody Like Us' is my
background from rap/trap and 'Humans' is my psytrance background, it's an
off-beat track.” Charlotte de Witte adds: “Acid Asian is back! From his first
release with us in 2022, it's been such a pleasure to see him grow and gain
respect in the techno scene. We've played many shows together and he's one of
the most talented, most instinctive producers out there. Playing Space Colors
as the closing track at the main stage of Tomorrowland Brazil where Fábio was
dancing in the crowd, was a very wholesome moment. These four tracks are
absolute bombs and also show the variety he has to offer as a producer. I'm
very excited about this release and I hope you are too!” Opener 'Deep Soul'
is hard and fast with a hypnotic vocal and gurgling acid lines that shoot
through the mix to electrifying effect. 'Space Colors' has slamming drums
that are lit up with bright, shiny trance chords and underpinned by a rugged
bassline that is sure to raise the roof. There is a fantastic rhythm to
'Ain't Nobody Like Us' with its fresh drum patterns and funky edge, narcotic

The man behind the bandana doesn't shy away from paying homage to the old

a groove that feels minimal yet keeps expanding through punctured breaks and

In memory of a long lost friend,
Patas comes forth with a relic of a vinyl release in the name of that loved
one, featuring one dreamy side in memoriam of the flesh, and one bouncy side
for the spirit. Title track starts it out in a lush and vibrant synthworld
pairing up with a dubby techno groove, whole track foaming over with saudade,
an emotional concoction of joy interlaced with melancholic sadness, one part
looking back in tears, the other going forward with a subtle smile. ILU 2
MUCH takes a bit too much sweet emotions stuff and turns it into a restless
standstill. Flip the record over and you get two certified dancefloor
scorchers in different trajectories. Bontelabo is a deep and trippy broken
beat keepsake using only sampled guitar for its harmonic and melodic content.

Macedonian
artist Stojche kicks off Mutual Rytm Xs 2025 schedule with his blistering new
EP, Stomping Ground. Stojche is an exciting DJ and producer from Skopje,
Macedonia, who is currently based in Madrid. He heads up his Tangible Assets
imprint and has been making waves in the electronic underground for over 20
years. His music takes inspiration from the classic sounds of Detroit and dub
techno, and in 2024, he impressed with his Metaphor EP on F.U.S.E. Following
on from his superb contribution to Mutual Rytms Federation of Rytm II
compilation, here, he now serves up his first EP of the year with a first
outing on X, the sister label of SHDWs Mutual Rytm, w Stomping Ground. This
EP opens up with the powerful Stomping Ground, a scintillating blend of tightly
programmed kicks and reverberating percussive lines. The textured percussion
shimmers over the racing beats and cannot fail to sweep dancers off their
feet. Oberheim is another high-class, high-impact sound with muted melodies
thinking over the twisting and turning drums and bass which never let up and

"Abundant
in beauty and rich in disturbances" serves as the guiding principle for
Belgian composer, Dienne, as she builds songs and soundscapes that portray
the images and stories that play behind her eyes. Combining analogue
instruments like the oboe, the piano, and the flute with reverb-drenched
vocals and shimmers of processed electronic sources, she creates hazy pieces
of music full of the melancholy of remembrance and loss. Her debut album
Addio (2022) was released on Nicolás Jaar's Other People imprint. Addio is a
32-minute study on loss and mourning. Following the death of her grandmother
due to Covid-19, and unable to say a proper goodbye due to travel
restrictions, Dienne set out to give her "Addio" through musical
form. The result is a deeply intimate work that channels classical
instrumentation through foggy electronic experimentation. Memories,
biographies, and family histories merge in this simultaneously somber and
optimistic work which plays out like a universal and comforting ode to lost
loved ones. Her second album, Conducturis, accompanies an immersive film
installation delving into speculative fiction, conceptualized by Mira Sanders
and Cédric Noël. Conducturis will be released on Cortizona at the end of
January 2025. Conducturis is an immersive film installation project that
delves into the realms of speculative fiction, employing the cinematic
language of the road movie to envision the ramifications of constructing an
artificial brain within the Swiss landscape. Following their encounters with
key figures in the Human Brain Project during an art research expedition in
Geneva from 2019 to 2020, conceptualized by Cédric Noël & Mira Sanders,
they stumbled upon a remarkable discovery: a hidden fiber-optic cable linking
Geneva to Lugano. Anchored at both ends by the Human Brain Project in Geneva
and the CSCS (Centre Suisse de Calcul Scientifique) in Lugano, this conduit
facilitated the transmission of intricate brain simulations from the imposing
computational hub in Lugano to Geneva via a 'superconductor' cable. While the
nuances of this fiber network eluded the naked eye, Sanders & Noël
meticulously pored over maps, gathered endless data, and traversed the
terrain. In crafting "Conducturis", they chose to portray an
immersive journey along this IT infrastructure connecting Geneva and Lugano,
exploring the curious allure of dreaming about artificial landscapes. The
accompanying originalscore by Dienne invites audiences to delve into the intersection
of human creativity and machine intelligence. Guided by the principle of
being "abundant in beauty and rich in disturbances", Dienne embarks
on a sonic exploration of the Swiss landscape, translating its ethereal
beauty and technological wonders into evocative musical compositions.
"How can a human sound like a machine?" This intriguing question
lies at the heart of Dienne's artistic endeavor. For her, the soundtrack of
"Conducturis'' transcends mere musical notes; it embodies a profound
philosophical exploration into the essence of human creativity amidst the
rise of artificial intelligence. Similarly, "How can a human being
compose like a machine?" serves as a pivotal inquiry guiding Dienne's
creative journey. As she navigates the delicate boundary between human
expression and machine cognition, she skillfully intertwines the pulsating
rhythms of data transmission with the haunting melodies inspired by
artificial landscapes. Drawing inspiration from the cinematic aesthetics of

season! The Stringdusters put this album together remotely, collaborating on
every arrangement and part, putting their unique spin on a timeless
collection. The Infamous Stringdusters sit at the forefront of the modern
bluegrass scene, blending traditional roots with contemporary influences.
Their innovative sound pushes boundaries while maintaining the essence of

uncharted territory moored only by their expressive patchwork of All-American
bluegrass threaded together with strands of rock, jazz, funk, country,
