The Zeros is a pioneer punk rock
band formed in 1976 in Chula Vista, California. Comparisons with The Ramones
are often made when describing the energetic and fierce guitar driven sound
of the group. The first singles recorded by the band instantly catapulted The
Zeros into a top draw on the local scene and have become legendary.
Unfortunately, the band never cut an album during these days. This release
compiles all their early singles, some rare tracks (including the previously
unreleased 'Left to Right') and songs taken from a 1978 live show. We are
thrilled to reissue this essential '80s power pop gem as part of a series of
releases celebrating Bomp! 50th anniversary |

Straight
from the bustling scene of Brussels comes Nous'klaer Audio's latest signing:
an effervescent debut album by the young Belgian-Japanese producer,
live-performer, pianist and DJ Gaiko. Gaiko (real name Kaito) bursts onto the
scene with a nine-track full-length album that highlights the rich and
diverse output of this emerging talent. His first offering spans left-field
electronics, IDM and DnB, blending intricate drum-programming with lush
synths and contemporary, contrasting piano pieces. The long player has been
shaped into a push-and-pull dynamic of tempo and mood, a flow of quests that
gradually grow into their entirety. From atmospheric textures to tight,
propulsive beats, Gaiko builds layers that ripple into each subsequent track.
This contrasting yet complementary energy flows from the tender
"Millennium" into the unassuming highs of "Setagaya,"
while the floating electronica of IDM-leaning tracks "Subdued" and
"Ever's Lullaby" build up to standout tracks "Martyr" and
"Crush." Gaiko's self-titled debut balances euphoria with
introspection through an unusually sophisticated playfulness, a rare quality
that makes this vivid young artist all the more promising. The 180g vinyl
comes in a heavyweight sleeve with artwork by Loe Duval (aka Barwouf) and
includes a download card |

With
their anticipated new album, Black Flower delves into the transformative
power of rhythm and motion. Each groove, rhythm and pulse channels raw
energy, acting as a disruptor that drives transformation. When the mind feels
stuck-cemented in patterns, rigid in its views, overwhelmed by
obstacles-Kinetic serves as a reminder that the body's motion can be the
force to shatter those confines. To move is to adapt, evolve, and transform.
The album embodies a philosophy of flowing with change rather than resisting
it, offering a bold, dynamic statement on breaking free from life's
limitations. Kinetic is a call to dance through life's chaos and to harness
the power of movement as a tool for liberation. The album showcases Black
Flower's signature blend of Ethio-jazz, oriental influences, dub, and
afrobeat. The jazz combo, hailed by tastemakers such as Gilles Peterson, The
Gaslamp Killer, and Lefto Early Bird, has performed live sessions on BBC
Radio 3 and Worldwide FM. Their previous albums earned widespread acclaim,
with glowing reviews from prestigious publications such as MOJO, Stereogum, Q
Magazine, and Uncut Magazine. The band has toured extensively across Europe,
building a strong fanbase |

In 1986 the Chems recorded 4
songs at Studio 9 located on Hollywood Blvd and Western. Two of these songs
would become their first 7-inch. In 1996 the Chems recorded demos for what
would be their last album, "Arpeggio Motorcade" for Cruz. These demos,
along with some live recordings from the 90s, are featured together on this
album for the first time ever. Double sided insert with exclusive liner notes

Remastered reissue of the orginal

one of the best tracks ever to come from the little silver box, Three 'O

Detroit sound aesthetic with the first hints of where Jochem would go with
his music in the later 90's. First released on +8 sub Probe Records in 1992.

transcendent compositions that derive from his Every Dog Has Its Day project

world, and they can make us beautiful and unique: Nothing and everything is
perfect. We can be contorted, bent in weird ways, and still we're
beautiful.". A Star Child is the idea that a person can be incomplete
and not self-aware, yet accept their imperfections. still direct their
influence despite the arrangements of periodic and trending consequence. It
can also mean that imperfections can make admirable qualities stand out more

Swedish punk veterans Attentat
returns with the strongest, most composed album the band has made in modern
times. The singer Jönsson's experiences from a supposed deathbed are
heartbreaking to listen to. Songwriting partner Siken's harder
influencescombined with Jönsson's glam-scented Lennon/Slade compositions
spice up the arrangement, but above all, the album is a ball of boisterous
bubbly punk with catchy choruses and fist-in-the-air messages. Attentat
sounds like Attentat more than ever |

The Milkshakes were mainly Mickey
Hampshire (Git/Vox), Billy Childish (Git/Vox), Bruce Brand (Drums), Russ
Wilkins (Bass). When punk group the Pop Rivets broke up in 1980, Billy
Childish joined forces with Mickey Hampshire, a Pop Rivets roadie. The two began
writing songs together and the group released their first LP, Talking 'bout
Milkshakes! in 1981. With Childish and Hampshire sharing guitar and vocal
duties, Bruce Brand on drums, and Bertie on bass (later replaced by Russ
Wilkins then John Agnew), the Milkshakes' sound was a primitive blend of
British beat groups, like the early Kinks at their toughest, and hard/rocking
American guitar instrumentalists like Link Wray. This sound came to be known
as the "Medway sound" and the core members have been playing a
variation on it throughout their whole careers |

Regarded by many as the first
Japanese progressive rock group, the Far East Family Band, whose first album
release was under the name Far Out, released The Cave Down To Earth in 1975.
Influential in the creation of the bands distinctive psychedelic sound was
keyboard player Kitaro, who went on the establish himself as a major New Age
artist in the 80s. Although the band was often categorized as New Age too,
their sound was distinctly progressive and often brought comparisons with
Tangerine Dream and early Pink Floyd. The ethereal, space-rock quality of the
bands music is hear in abundance but the centrepiece is without doubt the
title track, with which starts off in a mellowmood but then becomes a killer
guitar jam. For music fans that have yet to discover the delights of 70s
Japanese psychedelic rock, The Cave Down To Earthy is a fabulous introduction |

(Limited

Dang dut is the biggest musical genre in Indonesia. Dangdut, onomatopoetic
name from the sound of hand drums used in this type of music, is what reggae
to Jamaicans, country to Americans or skiffle to mid 20th century British
people. And in this genre of dang dut, the name Rhoma Irama looms large. He
is until today the undisputable king of dang dut and his role as pioneer of
the music is already in the history book. In fact, there's one book
documenting the outsized role of Rhoma in establishing dang dut as the father
of this music. The book is aptly titled Dangdut Story, written by Pittsburgh
University music professor Andrew N. Weintraub. Among Indonesian fans of dangdut,
there’s this one misconceptions that dangdut music is that it is an
indigenous art form from Indonesia and that it constitutes an amalgamation of
local, traditional music of this Southeast Asian nation, with Malay music
being the most prominent feature in the mix. Dangdut pioneer Rhoma Irama is
among the first to reject this assertion. “Dangdut music may have originated
in Deli (in North Sumatra) but then got the influences from the West and
India”, he said. Indeed, most of Rhoma’s well-known compositions may have
been influenced by Indian tunes but some of his best quality works owed much
to the West. Rhoma had long found home in Western pop music. In the early
1960s, after honing his guitar playing skill, Rhoma set up his first band
Gayhand to play the tunes of The Beatles, Paul Anka and Tom Jones. In 1972,
Rhoma won best singer title in a Southeast Asia singing competition in
Singapore playing Tom Jones “I Who Have Nothing.” Yet, nothing changed Rhoma’s fortune in the
music industry, to a point where he decided to leave pop and switched to
playing Orkes Melayu (Malay Orchestra) music, first with Orkes Melayu Purnama
and later with Soneta Group. His career soon took off with Soneta, especially
after he introduced what ethnomusicologist William H. Frederick considered as
“theatre”, through which Rhoma borrows many elements from stage performances
of British and American rock bands. These elements, kitsch and pomp, he
liberally adopted and became an inseparable part of dangdut itself; tight
pants, long hair, platform shoes, glitter and glamour which would not be out
of place in Elton John and David Bowie stage show. And this is actually the
contradiction of Rhoma’s brand of Malay music. “One might legitimately ask
how imaginative, not to say bizarre, costuming and dancing with abandon could
be related to some of the objectives of Rhoma has set for himself and soneta
group”, Frederick wrote on his seminal work on the singer, Rhoma Irama and
the Dangdut Style: Aspects of Contemporary Indonesian Popular Culture,
published in 1982. From technical point of view, Rhoma not only replaced the
acoustic elements from Melayu Music with electric instruments but also
created new synthetic sounds that has never been attempted before in
Indonesia’s music industry. Detractors like to point out how much he was
indebted to Deep Purple, but a closer inspection reveals how he in fact had
mined his influences even deeper. Notice how Rhoma reproduced funk, which is
all the rage in early 1970s, in the song “Santai” (Relax), this album’s
closer or “Credit Title (Instrumentalia)” which opens this Darah Muda (Young
Blood) soundtrack. The rubbery bass lines that open both songs can easily
find home in any Sly and the Family Stone’s or Isaac Hayes’ tunes from that
era. Other highlights of the song is the funky guitar licks and the droning
Hammond a la George Clinton that stabs deep in the record groove. In the
guitar solo, you can also hear the bark of George Harrison’s licks from
“Taxman”. The 13 tracks contained in
this compilation “Begadang: Soneta Group Best Songs, 1975-1980” are some the
most innovative music that came out of Indonesia’s music scene in the 1970s,
tunes that has cemented Rhoma Irama’s status as the king of the genre. Only
500 copies were pressed for this compilation |

ATFs
first release for 2025 is a 3-track vinyl from A n d r o m e d a. A1 /
Andromeda ft. Cole - Cybserspace (170bpm, 45rpm): This high-energy track at
170bpm blends driving rhythms with haunting dystopian samples, creating a
gripping sense of urgency. The bold, evocative melodies take centre stage,
offering a captivating contrast to the intensity of its high pace. Itll be
alright, I promise. B1 / Andromeda - Waveride (140bpm, 33rpm): Coming back
down to earth we relax a little for this chilled trancer at 140bpm. Weaving
lush melodies with delicate percussion, creating an atmosphere of serene
energy. Its laid-back vibe invites listeners to lose themselves in its
smooth, considered progression. Hardcore rave fans will doubtless pitch this
up to 45rpm and include it in their rave sessions. B2 / Andromeda - Time
(170bpm, 33rpm): The final track of the EP brings an uplifting end, pairing
more vibrant melodies with the enduring vocal hook that gives the track its
name. Balancing emotional resonance and renewed energy, it leaves listeners
on a high while closing the project down |

What
comprises a dream? An astral plane of our own making where thoughts, love,
and desires of the inner mind abound with irreverence ripe with connection
& perspective beyond constraints of time, set, and setting. Azu Tiwaline exists within the wonders of
these interstitial worlds, diving deeper towards inner sanctums of mystic
imagination, sublime intrigue, and profound understanding on her second full
length LP The Fifth Dream. Released again through her beloved partnership
with I.O.T Records, The Fifth Dream finds Azu painting an expansive vision
towards unified multitudes, mercurial realities, & abundant inner
sanctums. Where her first album Draw Me a Silence was a loving ode to her
family & upbringing in the form of an elegant diptych, The Fifth Dream is
the enactment of actualizing her roots into new routes, taking her
multifaceted identity into new means of communication towards herself, the
world, & the cosmic unknowns that surround her. Throughout The Fifth
Dreams 54 minute runtime, we hear all elements of the uniquely transcendental
sound that Azu is beloved for worldwide. Antennae Opening, Blowing Flow,
& Amen Dub embody her talents for tectonic, dubwise soundscapes that
channel the innately maternal elements of bassweight into bold &
abstracted pulsations, indebted to the most psychedelic & body activating
ends of dubstep. Still attuned to the spatial awareness of dub sonics but
giving way to the hypnotic syncopation & synaptic frequencies. techno, Reptilian Waves, Long Hypnosis,
& Mei Long bring forth her spectacular expertise for entheogenic rave
rhythms guiding us warmly towards trance inducing hyper states of dance &
delight. Fluctuating between an adventurous velocity and enveloping stasis,
the expansive abyssal planes of Golden Dawn, Night in Palm Tree, & Canope
Imaginaire conjures a wondrously invigorating rhythmic enlightenment &
celestial comprehension simultaneously moving us forward, inwards, &
outwards through Azus uniquely omnidirectional & kaleidoscopic musical
visions.
Adorned with sampled field recordings of her deeply inspiring home in the
desert of El Djerid in South Tunisia, Azu opens a portal into the synergistic
inner sanctums of being, self, and the world around us thats essential to her
work as an artist from the macro levels of humanitys naturally intimate
connection to the Earth we share, down to each of our own micro levels of
culture, ancestry, and belonging. All of this is alchemized through a
combination of timeless Saharan knowledge and modern cybernetic tools,
creating new dimensions of bewitching, euphonious sonic energy. This is music
that gives back as much as the listener wants to give themselves unto it
detailed and layered, orbiting a steady core as ethereal swirls and
intonations of the natural world embrace us warmly within a spellbinding
journey. 8 of the albums 9 tracks feature a deep level of collaboration from
innovative Franco Iranian percussionist Cinna Peyghamy. Cinnas use of Tombak,
the principle drum of Iranian music throughout time, is beautifully sonorous
channeling the passion of centuries of Southwest Asian rhythm &
expression into his own personalized flourishes, with Azu adding her own
electrifying frequencies & undiluted artistic freedom to their shared
interplay. This profoundly communicative diasporic essence is transmuted
between Azu & Cinna, their expression, & the listener. Both are music
lovers, intimately connected to their respected Iranian and Tunisian cultures
concurrently acknowledging the wisdom of their resonant pasts, while proudly
bringing the sounds of their heritage into the present & future. The
Fifth Dream embodies a cosmic anodyne for those feeling caught in between
lifes abyssal inbetweens, whilst aiming for a consonant awareness of where
our home truly lies in the swells of lifes spiritual maelstrom. This dream
belongs at once to none & to many, that of a common language unified in
concentric depth finding beauty in all aspects of our world, and ultimately,
within oneself |

An
EP of mind-massaging techno-trance futurism from Wata Igarashi. Capturing the
energy of the UFO stages which indulge Dekmantel Festival's darker,
experimental tastes, Igarashi turns out four shapely serotonin injections in
his inimitable style. There's an immediacy to the Kaleidoscopic 12'' which
rushes into earshot the moment the EP fires up with the insistent acid throb
of the title track. The eternal undulation of a 303 provides the bedrock for
Igarashi's fluttering brushstrokes, while a tough yet supple beat charges
underneath. Cascading arps are a core element of the richly melodic sound on
this release, reaching measured peaks of ecstasy on 'The Sailage' without
ever taking a cheap shortcut. Understated, emotionally-charged eloquence
spills out of every sequence. There's a softer, blurry-eyed sentiment to the
synth work on 'Steaming', while 'Interweave' tempers classic acid techno
tropes with gaseous atmospherics. There are plenty of crisp edges in his
tracks for the dancers to latch onto, but Igarashi specialises in a fluid
motion that encourages less thinking and more feeling—a lysergic techno flow
to truly melt into. Dekmantel continues to shape out the return of its UFO
series with this new wave of 12''s... keep watching |

What
a person needs in 2024, according to singer-pianist An Pierlé? "Less
regret. Less fake. Less fear. And the courage to live in the now." She
sings about it all with the wisdom of a woman who no longer has to be a girl.
Four years after Wiga Waga, the An Pierlé Quartet (APQ) is back with Ultimate
Survival, its second album already on the prestigious W.E.R.F. records.
Compared to the APQ debut, the grooves are deeper and the lyrics more
confronting. That has in part to do with the turn that Pierlé's life took.
The illness with a capital C was warded off and the realisation that you can
best enjoy your days while you have them has been all the more urgent since.
Pierlé doesn't let something so dark dominate the new album though: the title
doesn't refer to that period, but was given to her as a gift by artist
Patrick Van Caeckenbergh, who designed the cover. Pierlé: "He drew his
inspiration from an old book about animals that take care of other animal
species. We all need some of that these days." Ultimate Survival is an
experiential album that takes you along on the undulations of a tale. First
single The Sting immediately sets the tone. The song is about accepting the
stupid things people do, even though they know better. The album celebrates
the liberation of being able to start again with a clean slate, alternating
husky warmth with the virtuoso outbursts of a seasoned voice. This is not
classical jazz, but it is the work of a bona fide jazz band. With keyboard
player Hendrik Lasure and drummer Casper Van De Velde (together: Schntzl),
APQ pretty much has the core of 'The New Wave of Belgian Jazz' in its ranks.
The godfather of that jazz wave is producer/reed-blower Koen Gisen.
"Casper and Hendrik are international class acts ", says Gisen.
"The great thing is: they almost never play the same thing twice, not
even in the studio. Live, this will be a wonderful derailment. In the
knowledge that, thanks to these two, they will always land on their
feet." Pierlé: "Our boys also have old souls. And that is exactly
why they're our mentors, instead of the other way around. So we can opt for
adventure. And to live in the now." LIVE: 04/02 - AMOR - Antwerpen 14/02

here is a new Extended Re-edit exclusively for this E.P. A quality breakbeat
production with throbbing bass and electro sounds with a catchy rap. Andy M
& Dream Frequency "I Want Your Love" is an anthemic breakbeat
piano monster with old skool synth sounds and catchy vocals. Retropolis 5am
is a banging dirty breakbeat track with a big piano riff that gets looped
before exploding into more dirtiness. A.PLUS is a piano driven breakbeat
track with catchy vocals and nice dirty synth melodies to complement this

Audio proudly presents the long awaited remix-bundle of Ness' classic LP
"Flesh Of The Gods". Two years in the making we will start 2025
with a big cosmic bang! A-side kicks off with a Hydrous remix that is staying
true to the original in intensity and groove, but adds an extra layer of that
unmistakeable eerie atmosphere that has become his signature. A2 showcases
why Dino Sabatini is such a revered artist within our community. Although
subtle in it's movements, there's an undeniable depth and power to be found
here - and although seemingly Ambient to some, expect to hear fragments of
this piece in many DJ sessions in the upcoming year. On to the B-side, where
Argentinian native Vladw take on "Transilient". Soundtracking the
first rays of the day, this is for the reflective hours, meditative, breezy,
while keeping the moody atmosphere of the original. B2 brings up the
intensity with Kalumet's take on "Nobody Knows The Way". With a
bass section that would've made Paps proud this is an uncompromising banger
for a The Dome-session at 3am. As a finale we've invited the highly talented
Mikkel Rev from the Oslo-based Ute.-crew. Like us, Mikkel and Ute. are not
ashamed of their love for true, deep Trance music. On the contrary, Mikkel's
remix of "Like A Plucked Flower" oozes confidence in it's
celebratory and life-affirming drive |

copies available (of LTD pressing 200). Transparent vinyl with splashes of
colour. When conceptual art really kicked off in the mid twentieth century,
many of its protagonists were so determined to purge art of its decorative
frilliness, they turned more and more towards words, or rather, lack thereof.
The likes of Duchamp, Dali, Breton, Reinhardt, each uncensored by the
rational mind, made moves towards the absurd and the sublime, with varying
degrees of success and failure alike. In this piece, what one finds is the
artist attempting to convey a number of things, and asking a number of
questions of us as the listener what do we seek in such art? In which ways
are tobe intellectually, spiritually and sexually fulfilled by its visceral
and confrontational abandonment of conventions? Is it incongruous
juxtaposition? Does it lead us as the audience to question ourselves as
living breathing beings, our hopes and truths, and our benign tastes so often
dictating our choice and free will? The piece is a natural extension of
surrealism, dadaism and indulgence, themselves often strange bedfellows.
Elaborate and provocative in its execution, displaying a signature of
insatiable curiosity, and leaving no stone unturned, it portrays the artist
as a provocateur of postmodernism, mysticism, and decadence. It transgresses
the elusive world of the subconscious more imaginatively than previous
offerings. Its also a piece which stitches together the scraps of art and
culture, politics and poetry, and science and exotica that could often be
found in the Southport of the late noughties and beyond. An extremely clever
conceit there could be any manner of things concealed within this record, but
we as the listener will never know because as as soon as one opens the record,
the art is destroyed, the value is lost, so we will never, ever find out.
Ones most overriding sensation is that the piece feels like a shit filled
hand grenade which the artist has flung into our collective psyche. It is
quite simply, a joke, and a very poor joke |

Mike
Parker returns to Samurai Music to apply his steely, rigorous approach to
another EP navigating the 170BPM zone. As a widely celebrated pioneer of
ice-cold wormhole techno, Parker finds profound depth in alien textures and
ruthless repetition which he ably twists to the drum & bass template. The
A side of Envenomations leaps forward with urgent jump-up grooves as the
driver for lean, rolling workouts. With his minimalist tendencies, 'Voc-1
Robot' and 'Ee-Yo' strike a cool and deadly mood similar to classic mid-90s
Krust, swapping jazzy samples for atonal synthesis. Parker was last spotted
experimenting with this techno-D&B crossover on 2023's Sabre-Tooth, but
the keen-eared may have already detected his interest in half-time on the
Stinging Insects / Stages Of Metal digital single he dropped on his own
Geophone label back in 2020. Both tracks make a welcome arrival on wax to
form the B side of this release, channelling Parker's signature palette into
more spacious surroundings. Backed up by an additional pair of digital-only
tracks, Envenomations is another standout exercise in the fertile synergy
between techno and drum & bass, delivered by a true auteur with an
unmistakable sound |

Our
debut single with Senpolya was born out of desire to create some modern
Russian pop infused with references to the 80s dance music. While making
80s-inspired tunes is popular nowadays, this decade means different things to
different people: be it A-ha and Modern Talking or African boogie and Chicago
house. But we ended up making neither one nor the other. The crowd who
contributed to this release is absolutely legendary. Each time I listen to it
and think of them, a new dimension opens up in my mind, adding up some deeper
layers of context Ive immersed myself in over the past few years. An italian
producer and bass player Marco Boccamazzo created the first remix. By adding
bass guitar and strings, he took the track back by another ten years. DJ Popinjay,
an alter ego of a tropical disco master who wishes to remain anonymous,
provided the second rework. The third remix or more like an essentially an
entirely new track, comes from Sonestrose, a duo consisting of Andrey
Algorithmic, an art director of Moscow Powerhouse, and Alexander Basian, the
studio's sound engineer. Ignat Akimov, also known as DJ Pecan and an art
director of Esthetic Joys Embassy, crafted the fourth hallucinogenic remix,
which spans from acid house with Indian drums to cool jazz sound. Lipelis and
Scruscru help me in making some key decisions about the tracks structure,
arrangement, and mixing. Ilya Varankin made a photo of us (on film!) and
Nikita Demin designed the cover picture inspired by Daptone Records. At last,
I want to thank my wife, Masha Dostoewskaya, without whose love and patience
I wouldn't have been able to see this project to an end |

"For
ALT015, we welcome the fabled DMX Krew for a second time. The Space Is Inside
EP accurately reflects the artist's multiple decennia in the studio, shaping
his aesthetics on the axis of electro, techno and synthpop. On Vicious
Windows, a distinct lead pierces through the ominous, unison-drenched synths
stabs and square waves. As the track progresses, we are kept on our toes by
drum fills that sound like hydraulic valves releasing pressure and subtle
detune slider fiddling. The hot and sweaty Bass box combines zap-like bass
patterns with even more jittery synth work, while the titular woofer
addresses us in a vocoder voice. Warm Places echoes Dutch West Coast, and
although concise, sufficient melody and modulated drums are snuck in to
immediately reveal the artist's hand. On Space Is Inside dark chords
interplay with a wistful FM bass melody. Subtle bursts of synth sparkle keep
everything rooted in silky melancholy. While the strings on Mental
Disturbance are also gloomy, the lead is more frantic. The 303's modulation
is constant, and slowly flanged snare drums try their best keeping it in
line. Closer Tunnel Beneath Precinct 11 sure doesn't tone down either. The
spooky, reverb-laden synth work collides with a dark, catchy bass, its cutoff
and resonance knobs never left untouched. It closes down an EP of machine
funk that covers a lot yet manages to shape into a satisfyingly cohesive
arc." |

'Flipperen' takes the randomness of pinball
and turns it into music. Using recordings from old pinball machines, the
music mixes chaos and structure, reflecting the Fluxus spirit of play and
chance. It's a wild ride through sound, where things don't always make
sense--but that's the fun of it. CD comes in foldout with the dimensions of a
7" sleeve. Printed in 3 PMS-colours (neon) + black. Limited edition of
200 copies. ILINX represents a form of play that, according to Roger
Caillois, induces a temporary disruption of perception, characterised by
disorienting changes in direction or movement akin to vertigo, trance, or
ecstasy. This trio’s improvisational approach intentionally embraces this
principle. The album draws inspiration from the deterministic chaos of
pinball. Production commenced with field recordings of pinball machines
spanning four decades (from the 1960s through the 1990s) at the Dutch
Pinball Museum in Rotterdam. Crafting the repertoire involved a meticulous
selection of 28 samples serving as thematic catalysts for improvisations,
which were then fashioned into sound-art collages using a cut-up technique or
subjected to probabilistic processes. Original pinball machine recordings
were made at the Dutch Pinball Museum by Suzana Lașcu and Robert
Kroos on January 14, 2021, with the kind permission of Gerard van de Sanden.
Performance recordings took place at the Institute of Sonology in The
Hague by Suzana Lașcu on March 3 and 4, 2022, with the kind permission
of Kees Tazelaar. Artwork: ‘Pinball Wizards II’ (1973), digitally
reproduced from the original silk screen print by Jacqueline de Jong.
Jacqueline de Jong’s ‘Pinball Wizards’ series delves deeply into the
culture and landscape of pinball, arguably the quintessential
Situationist game. For further details, please refer to ‘These Are
Situationist Times!’ (Torpedo Press) and ‘The Situationist Times: Same
Player Shoots Again!’ |

The new label engorn celebrates
its second catalog release, once again featuring gustav krach and
taschendrachen. The A side kicks off with two dreamy deep house tracks by
taschendrachen. The first track, the meaning, blends lush congas and bongos
with smooth pads. dont forget us stands out with its warped bassline, while
both tracks feature lovely, haunting vocals. The side is rounded off by a
sweeping ambient breakbeat track from gustav krach, closing it with
atmospheric depth. On the B side, taschendrachen showcases his passion for
chords, creating a drive infused cut with tell me do and crafting a dub
influenced soundscape with tides, where the chords form a vast sonic
backdrop. The release closes with gustav krachs atmospheric ambient track,
offering a fitting, introspective conclusion to the journey. Mastering &
cut by Tim Xavier Man Made Mastering, Berlin. All rights reserved engorn

After a long hiatus, Eric
Cloutier returns to his Palinoia label with three tribal techno groovers
intentionally built to get the entire dancefloor moving. Having grown up
surrounded by the hardgroove sound, Eric latched on to the style and has
regularly incorporated it into all his sets for the last few decades.
Passionate about the style, and recognizing it being over-cooked and watered
down as a current hype and trend, Cloutier felt the need to use his talents
and knowledge of the history of the 90's tribal sound to refocus things in a
manner only he could do. This three-track EP - the first of two in the set -
Perpetual Booty Grooves will do exactly what it says on the label and
endlessly whip a room into a frenzy. All three cuts on this record end in
perfectly locked grooves, allowing any DJ to keep the vibe going and never
letting the audience exit their fugue state |

Scheermann returns with release
number 4 on his imprint SAMMLER. A deep dive into hypnotic rhythms and
forward-thinking soundscapes: The relentless drive of Enies locks you into
its hypnotic pulse, while Bara carves out vast sonic space with deep grooves
and crisp, refreshing chords. Bata creates a futuristic atmosphere with
weighty drums and ethereal pads, pushing the boundaries of sound. Magu
strikes the perfect balance between introspective depth and uplifting energy,
drawing you in before Shima pares it back to raw essentials loopy, with
subtle low end texture that leaves a lasting impression. With this release,
Scheermann pushes his sound forward, bringing something fresh and dynamic
while keeping the groove intact. SMR004 Support: Len Faki, Ben Klock, Marron,

A
killer fusion of bass, poetry and social consciousness from the King Midas
Sound vocalist. Roger Robinson is one of the most versatile voices in the dub
poetry scene today, seamlessly blending the power of the written word with
the raw energy of the soundsystem. Teaming up once again with Dub wizard
Disrupt to conclude an album trilogy that began with “Dis Side Ah Town” and
“Dog Heart City“, Robinson pulls a wide range of riddims straight from the
Jahtari vaults to create “Heavy Vibes“, a killer fusion of bass, poetry, and
social consciousness. With a voice oscillating between soulful falsetto and
deep poetry thunder Robinson’s verses hit as hard as the bass, challenging
the listener to confront uncomfortable truths, while Disrupt’s richly
textured, dub-heavy production ensures the music moves both body and mind.
You’ll find yourself dancing, but more importantly, you’ll find yourself
thinking. Coming with stunning cover art by Kiki Hitomi and featuring deadly
riddims by Tapes, Naram, Jura Soundsystem, Maffi and Bo Marley, “Heavy Vibes”
balances the weight of oppression with a glimmer of hope – the belief that
change is possible, that the beat goes on, and that through solidarity and
art, new futures can be forged |

Overthink Records - 010 Waveratio
618 - “Bramosia delle cose vietate” (4-Track EP) The 10th release on
Overthink Records marks a pivotal moment, delivered by Italian producer
Waveratio 618. Following his standout contribution to the label’s Split
Series, he returns with a thrilling 4-track EP that blurs the lines between
Techno and EBM. Crafted entirely from live jam sessions, this EP exudes raw
energy and unfiltered creativity. Each track captures the immediacy and
spontaneity of these jams, translating hardware explorations into music
brimming with tension and drive. Waveratio 618’s intricate interplay of
analog warmth and digital waveforms results in a collection equally suited
for shadowy dancefloors and introspective listening. A defining release for
both the artist and Overthink Records. Gear Used: Yocto Composer, Kawai R-50,

A
great mixture of jazz, funk, afrobeat and house on new album by Italian
outfit Asakaira for Quattro Bambole. "Asakaira is the name of a place
that does not exist, an "invisible city" that is the backdrop to
the meeting of four musicians. Michele Vassallo (sax and efx), Giuseppe
Desiderio (bass), Francesco Fasanaro (percussion) and Giuseppe Limpido
(drums) who together have already gone through various experiences to immerse
themselves in an imaginary space, of the border! So, they exploit this nature
to transcend the limit, throwing caution to the wind with carefree abandon,
but not before carefully noting the history and legacy of jazz, hip-hop and
afrobeat. Asakaira' s sound is psychedelic, fluid, constantly evolving:
afrobeat & jazz punk alternate with funk, electronic music of
Mediterranean culture. An absolutely "stateless" sound, while
maintaining its own timbre and stylistic coherence to make it recognizable.
The choice of not having a harmonic instrument present in the lineup gives
ample space to electronic effects and the groove, creating a sort of modern
ritual. The eponymous debut album, released by Quattro Bambole Records,
consists of seven tracks, in which the ability to reinterpret their native
sounds with polysemic rhythms emerges in a work where layered drums and
percussions intertwine with effected saxophones and psychedelic bass lines. A
path that moves between songs with a more "ethereal" ancestry, such
as the opening track "Night Tales", an acoustic groove that rests
on the use of the handpan, an idiophone instrument that gives the song a
psychedelic vibration and like "Chatting With You" where a soft and
extended overlapping of multiple musical meters emerges, between neo soul,
jazz and hip-hop." |

The
Acidboychair music project started in the early noughties as a commentary on
what journalist Simon Reynolds would summarise a few years later as
Retromania. Initially conceived by Thomas Baldischwyler and Andreas
Diefenbach as a performative revival travesty with large-format drum
computers and synthesizers reconstructed from cardboard, everything took a
surprising turn when DJ Mooner (the man behind the now defunct Munich music
label Erkrankung Durch Musique) took an interest in the adventurous audio
material produced by Baldischwyler. In 2005, the LP 1987 (EDM1016), produced
almost exclusively with long-forgotten software (SoundEdit 16, RB-338, etc.),
was released on Mooner's label. As a result of the growing number of
bookings, Baldischwyler had to think about improving the performability of
his intentionally amateurish productions. Fortunately, the Ableton Live
programme became a DAW with a MIDI sequencer and support for VST plug-ins as
early as 2004 - and this made it easier for him to execute his intuitive,
error-friendly version of acid house. This can be heard on the first two
sample-heavy tracks on the A-side of Come Down Easy, which were recorded in
2005 and 2006 respectively at Acidboychair gigs at Hamburg's Golden Pudel
Club and Munich's Registratur. The first two tracks on the B-side (produced
sometime between 2006 and 2008) were actually supposed to be part of a solo
release on the Acido label run by Dynamo Dreesen, but this never
materialised. However, the final tracks and the 133.3 BPM lock grooves that
follow are the title and central to this catalogue number TBG123: Through
ethno-musicologist Arthur Boto Conley, who had already released a one-sided
12 on his label with material from one of Baldischwyler's audio
installations, he met Florian Meyer (Don't DJ) and Marc Matter (Spoken
Matter), who introduced him to their collaborative project Institut F?r
Feinmotorik (IFFM). Baldischwyler's attempt to approach the sound aesthetics
of IFFM led to the tape 60 Minutes Of Barely Modified Lock Grooves (TCCC06),
recorded in Rome in 2018. A buyer of this tape introduced him to the Detroit
collective Pure Rave, which he immediately contacted and introduced to the
work of the IFFM. It was important for Baldischwyler to have an analogue update
made and so both the Detroiters and IFFM, who now live in Berlin, were given
8 copies of EDM1016's backstock to remix the material in their own way. At
their jam in Detroit, Pure Rave opted for the almost identical material that
IFFM had also used for a live performance in the Hamburg project space Beek.
The dominant jumps in both arrangements come from the track Eightyseven,
produced in the early 2000s for the LP 1987, an awkward remix of the Spacemen
3 track Come Down Easy, which is also referred to in the liner notes on the
inner sleeve of TBG123. The almost two-decade-old revival idea thus turns
into false memory syndrome and runs into a - in keeping with our times -
clean-cut (endless) groove. Kassem Mosse (The KM of MM/KM) on Come Down Easy
after a first listening session: I think it all works very well as a mix, no
matter where you start it carries you further forward back in the loop. if I
understand the liner notes correctly, it's about the music's turn from
tradition preservation (doing everything right) to ecstatic delusion (not
doing everything right when intoxicated). Now that I'm reading again instead
of listening, the titles give me a different understanding of the
connections; how the skipping belongs together, which playtime is connected.
Now I can name my favourites. Thank you for the journey! |

VALIS is a new ongoing project
that was initiated over a year ago by Reeko and Eduardo De La Calle. The
project is a tribute to Philip K. Dick, the author of the novel that inspired
the iconic film Blade Runner. Given the ambitious and extensive nature of the
project, the artists have focused on transposing the cinematic and dystopian
sci-fi feel that characterises the author's work on a sonic level |

Following
a string of successful releases and performances at some of the electronic
world’s most revered underground venues, Italian DJ and producer Matisa
returns with her captivating new single, '1234 Bisous', out now. With sultry
vocals and classy tech-house sensibilities, this deep, rolling cut is primed
for the dancefloor. Nodding to Matisa’s love for euphoric, nostalgia-inducing
rhythms, shimmering acid and piano-laced sounds, the gorgeous single offers a
glimpse into her forthcoming mini-LP, ‘In My Head’ due for release on 31
January 2025. '1234 Bisous' carries the same bold energy that has solidified
her place in the scene while introducing a more introspective and emotional
depth to her sound; a deeply personal track that encapsulates the bittersweet
emotions of fleeting love and the unexpected start of a new romance. “Un deux
trois quatre bisous, I was keeping just for you, But then I wake up in a
boom, Just a lad lays in my room”. "This track captures the bittersweet
end of a significant love story as a new one begins. It’s not your typical
love-at-first-sight scenario… It took a solid five minutes for that spark to
ignite and that undeniable feeling to hit." – Matisa. Known for her
uplifting, radiant house selections and productions, Matisa's music carries a
distinct energy—shimmering with bold rhythms and acid-driven sounds that draw
from 90s rave culture and global club scenes. Her versatility behind the
decks not has also made her a standout at world-renowned venues such as
Berghain | Panorama Bar, fabric, and Circoloco, where she consistently
delivers unforgettable sets. With past releases on respected labels like Gudu
Records, Butter Sessions, On Loop, and Optimo, Matisa’s upcoming mini album
marks a major milestone for Matisa, as she showcases an ever-evolving sound
and her remarkable production prowess, seamlessly blending both nostalgic
elements with futuristic sounds and a raver’s spirit |
