Catalonian Death Metal brutes
Sanctuarium have already give us a superb demo, split and more recently a
crushing debut album. Now they return with a sophomore slice of savagery for
you to sink your rotting teeth into. Gut/busting bass lines and skeletally
fragmenting drums hit with all of the bludgeoning morbid force you can
imagine. Combining this with ossuary/opening guitar and zombified vocals and
you have the utterly disgusting template for Sanctuarium's signature
soundscape. Doom/laden, creeping and crawling Death Metal with the most
fetidly raw feeling to it that is as oppressive as it is aggressive with such
a stifling atmosphere like the air escaping from a broken tomb. In a world
where so many things feel polished and frankly insincere, sometimes the
underground spews up a band to right these wrongs and take Death Metal back
to being unforgiving, dark and revolting like it used to be |

The
creation of the LA-based multiinstrumentalist/songwriter Jada Wagensomer,
Brass Tax conjoins 60s soul and garage rock with smart, classic storytelling
pop inspired by the Kinks,Van Dyke Parks, Randy Newman, Dusty Springfield,
and Harry Nilsson, all tied together with a swath of punk spirit. The songs
on Brass Tax's debut long-player Brass Tax Album comprise a work of
immaculate detail with wide array of instrumentation (saxophone, violin, lap
steel, wurlitzer, wind chimes, kazoo etc ) coloring the spaces between
Wagensomer's clever, sometimes dark (sometimes humorous) tales. Growing in
depth and resonance with each listen, it's an album that sounds epic and
spacious but the subject matter brings it somewhere closer, more intimate.
From the countrified psychedelia of the album opener "And Then It Starts
All Over Again" to the retro R&B stomp of "I Won't Cry" to
orchestral, sweeping pop of "The Man With The Tooth", Brass Tax
Album covers a lot of sonic ground in just 8 songs. While you couldn't say
that this album is locked into any particular sound, this album is unified by
Wagensomer's versatile twang, and echoes of Spector, even Lou Reed's
Transformer or John Cale's Paris 1919. Generous with her musical talents,
Wagensomer lends her abilities to many LA outfits including Jail Weddings,
Dante Vs Zombies, Baby & Guy, Streetrobe and the Zappa/Fugs-style doo-wop
group, The Dumbheads. The current incarnation of Brass Tax includes other LA
players who get around including Brian Watson (The Pope), Alex Myers (Watts

Vol. 1 with label regular Thomas P. Heckmanns Days Of Buzz electrifying the
dancefloor with waves of mind-melting acid over a resolute beat. Label head
Bloody Mary then drops Fractal Waves, playful, 303-licked, and comfortably
switching between straight 4/4 and raw, crunched-up breaks this is a rave-
ready cut showing Mary at her best. On the flip, artist E-Bony returns to
Dame-Music after closing the labels 2024 schedule with the Machine Code EP.
His 303 Elements builds from a low-slung groove to an intense climax as acid
drips, oozes and rains over crisp drums while hoover sounds create an

Reinventing
himself as a vocalist on his new album 'Silver Blue', Pomrad fuses 80s fusion
funk, raw electro-dance, and 90s rave grooves to craft his unique style of
cosmic crooners. For Fans of Prince, Hudson Mohawke and Herbie Hancock.
Drawing inspiration from a wide range of genres, the record pays homage to
the iconic African American productions of the '80s-such as Prince, One Way,
the Gap Band, and Whitney Houston-while also nodding to UK-styled genres like
Street Soul (The Antipode), '90s R&B (Is It True) or even grotesque
2-step (Sad Dancer). Throughout the album, layered synth textures from
instruments like the Yamaha DX7, RolandD-50, Simmons SD-5, and Korg Opsix
create otherworldly atmospheres (Silver Blue), as tracks swing from the
playful funk naivety of an '80s TV show intro (How It Feels) to corny synth
ballads (Sweet Dear Lucky) or happy clapping turned hardstyle (Suzy Got

Born
from a childhood friendship, the five members of Ciao Kennedy have crafted
their own sound and feeling after exploring a variety of different musical
horizons. Following the release of EPs 'Keldercave' (2021) and 'the problem
is' (2022), as well as being featured on the compilation Lefto presents Jazz
Cats Vol. 3 in the spring of 2024, it was only a matter of time for the
Brussels-based band to reappear on the music circuit. As part of the Magma
collective, alongside groups like TUKAN and ECHT!, they started to stand out
with their instrumental music merging the playfulness of jazz,the repetitive
facets of post-rock, and the overtly grand electronic sound evident in what
is nowadays described through the grapevine as the 'Brussels sound'. With Solarium,
their debut album set to be released under the Sdban Ultra label, they have
found a course and common denominator in guitars drenched with post-rock
effects, steered by hypnotic electronic beats, creating an atmosphere of
rare, dense melancholy, peppered with a sound that belongs in a blockbuster
sci-fi movie. Ciao Kennedy and its debut album are a tangy candy bursting in
your mouth, the thrill of an afternoon at the fair, modernity meeting up with
the nostalgia of childhood. Or standing beneath the shimmering neon lights of
a rainy night, like colourful poetry, blending tenderness with electric
intensity. Many of these musical descriptions would be completely off the
mark, but after a few listens, they don't seem to miss the mark either.
There's something for everyone to discover on this album, oscillating between
the familiar and the unexpected, melancholy and cheer, and while everyone
keeps on talking about something being a 'vibe', we can only conclude that
Ciao Kennedy is the only one putting this into action. To celebrate the
release of Solarium, the band will host a release party at the Brussels venue
Botanique on April 17, 2025. A must-attend event for everyone who wants to
see if the live reputation which precedes Ciao Kennedy is actually true.

On 7th August the godfather Mike Dunn
presents an EP fuelled by a pumping heart of pure house, entitled 'DJ Beat
That Shhh' / 'Move It Work It'. Taken from his forthcoming album due for
release in October 2017. Both tracks capture Mike's essence, placing his
trademark hip house booty style vocals and stripped-back, jacking drums
centre stage. 'DJ Beat That Shit' is classic, bumping 90s Chi goodness
updated with modern technology, whilst 'Move It, Work It' is a no-nonsence
smoke and strobe throbber, that recalls the best of Trax and DJ
International. For anyone who knows their shit, Mike should need no
introduction, but for those that don't, he was highly influential in birthing
the modern day dance music phenomenon, especially with tracks like 'Face The
Nation', 'God Made Me Phunky', 'Let It Be House' and 'Personal Problem'. Mike
created hip house, DJ'd with fellow legends Ron Hardy, Larry Heard and
Armando Gallop, produced for house heroes Armando, Fast Eddie and K-Alexi
Shelby, and worked with the iconic voices of Byron Stingley and Kym English.
After a long absence from DJing in Europe, Mike returned in 2015 to rock
crowds at Panorama Bar, Fabric, Concrete, Sub Club and Glastonbury,

UFO Series continues its resurgent form with a new album of bruising,
industrial wave and techno from Broken English Club. UK techno mainstay
Oliver Ho debuted his dark and brooding alias more than 10 years ago with a
release on Jealous God under the guidance of the late, great Juan Mendez
(Silent Servant) ? Songs Of Love And Decay is explicitly dedicated to Mendez,
whose influence runs deep in this seductively sinister corner of underground,
independent electronic music. Within the overarching aesthetic of the Broken
English Club sound, Ho finds the freedom to deliver a full spectrum album as
diverse as it is consistent. You can sense the shadow of his roots in 90s
tribal techno punching through on 'Crawling' and 'Death Cult', while 'England
Heretic' leans on thick swathes of analogue synthesis indebted to Giallo
soundtracks and the ever-compelling lure of 80s synthwave. In its grinding
layers of distortion and dubbed out vocals 'Vessel Of Skin' speaks more to
the post-punk influences which have set Broken English Club apart since the
outset. This isn't a purely retro-fetishist expedition, though ? 'Pacific
Island Kill' and 'Lost Gods' exude stark modernism in their sharply-angled
sequences and dramatic sound design, moving beyond the functional demands of
4/4 dance music to reach to more cinematic zones. These are but some of the
approaches Ho burrows into as he shapes out the depth and breadth of his muse
on Songs Of Love And Decay. It's marked by the undeniable impact of his
production, perfected over a decades-deep career at the bleeding edge of
machine music. At times the album celebrates the addictive thrust of the
dancefloor, while elsewhere it relishes the tension of suspended animation.
Throughout, the gritty veneer binds together this accomplished,
uncompromising body of work as both a fierce artistic statement and a loving
tribute to Mendez ? an artist who equally embodied the darker side of the
dance |

Intertwined',
the first collaborative EP by Paraiso founders Maria Amor & Shcuro, is up
next on the decade-old Lisbon label. This pair of syncopated, energized,
immersive techno tracks comes with remixes by Tresor residents Fireground and
DC's own Black Rave Culture, a trio composed of James Bangura, Amal, and
Nativesun. 'Waves of Hope' opens the record in full force with a relentless
beat that combines early 90s euphoric energy and jacked-up snares over a fat
bassline, soulful pad progressions, technoid bleeps, dubby washes, and Maria
Amor's own soothing cut-up vocals, elegantly touching several foundational
club music sounds through an inspired lens. On the A2, 'Hotspring Love'
brings levitating, airy textures and mixes them with subtle acid arpeggios,
pure-hearted vocal melodies, and bouncy percussive accents. The rolling
subwoofers of a proper techno party can practically be seen, the fast-paced
kick perfectly perforating the bassline. Two remixes can be found on the
B-side: first up is Berlin-based duo Fireground, who flip the original 'Waves
of Hope' into a more concise take, exploring its dub influences and adding in
cinematic, ravey chord progressions to a hypnotizing, ecstatic effect. The
italian duo add a distinct dose of Neapolitan techno, carrying the textured
intensity of that unmistakable sound. Black Rave Culture pick up 'Hotspring
Love' and turn it into an ode to junglism, reappropriating the original pads
in a classic DnB workframe with crisp breakbeats and an absolutely nasty bassline
that no words can do justice to |

Darren
Cunningham's eagerly~awaited new album is an adventurous, ultramodern,
thoroughly British affair, rummaging about in the inner lives of house and
techno, and brilliantly elaborating the accomplishments of his debut,
Hazyville. Determinedly off~the~map and resistant to pigeonholing, Cunningham
is an enigmatic and playful figure, citing Francis Bacon and Monet as
inspirations longside Theo Parrish, Anthony 'Shake' Shakir, Daft Punk,
'binary codes and numeral systems', and The Avengers. He's a hard man to pin
down - somehow a key player in the post~dubstep diaspora and yet not there at
all - but everything comes across in his shape~shifting, richly textured
music. The South Londoner's acclaimed debut lived up to its name: a series of
dreamlike sketches and ideas. For Splazsh the fog has lifted, the sounds are
less submerged than before, but still sticky and close - a signature
combination of exuberance and introversion, luminescence and puzzlement.
Unconstrained by the formal cliches of the dance music he loves, Actress'
melodies and arrangements are enthralled by their own genies. Worlds of
disturbance and melancholy revolve giddyingly inside the insidious funk of
tracks like Get Ohn and Lost. A range of musical influences is redrawn, from
speed garage (Always Human) to grime (Wrong Potion), with none crowned king.
There is a reflectiveness - the ambient drift of Futureproofing, the
radiophonic judder of Supreme Cunnilingus - in amongst the industrial,
synth~wave flavours of Casanova, and the stirring, stately Maze. Actress has
quickly and justly become one of the most respected names in the UK's new

the most formidable and taste~making UK independents of recent times,

The Legion of Boogie Down return

Parker returns to Rekids with ‘Better Days’. Tee Amara lends her voice to
both English and Spanish versions, while Radio Slave steps up for a remix.
Spencer Parker and Tee Amara arrive on Rekids with ‘Better Days’ in March,
alongside a remix from label founder Radio Slave. Originally the closing
track ‘Faster Forward’ on 2018’s ‘DANCE MUSIC’ album on Parker’s Work Them
Records, the track is reborn as full vocal cut ‘Better Days’ after the long
search for a vocalist led the producer to fellow Berlin resident, Tee Amara.
Known for work alongside Cromby, Ariel Me Llamo, and Ed Davenport, Amara’s
heartfelt, soulful vocals in both English and Spanish versions bring new
depth to Parker’s original track. As a longtime friend of Matt Edwards and a
staple of the Rekids imprint since the mid-2000s, Parker returns to the label
with ‘Better Days’, an occasion that calls for a remix from Radio Slave
himself, who adds a jazzy swing vibe via additional melodic elements while he

his next Token EP, Kr!z delivers squelchy synth sequences over robust kicks,
reinforcing his no-nonsense approach to club music. Classic in its conception
yet psychotic in effect, Ipso Facto is a record built for powerful sound
systems during the night's most delirious moments. First impressions are
important; the Belgian producer has never been one to waste time, and this
record is no exception. What you hear is what you get-an anxiously slithering
synth line makes his intentions clear in Defeat the Purpose, driving people
to the dancefloor. Dry drum machine work thunders throughout, locking in the
Token style with precision. Moving into the next track, 'Chrome Dust' focuses
more on the tonal side of things and its irresistible groovemakes it an instant
ear catcher. Playful rides and snares shape the progression, with Kr!z
swapping percussion elements to keep the movement lively. The title track is
a true hip swinger on the B1 as he reaches in the low end of the synth
sequence to establish a very compelling rhythm. Everything in its right
place, and not a hair more, the percussion transitions are reminiscent of his
4 channel DJ sets, the energy always being on the move. Equilibrium closes
the EP with high energy, opening up filters over a reliably bouncy rhythm.
Years of experience behind the decks can be very instructive for a perceptive

Throughout
his career, Steve has retained a true groundedness, with everything he's
stood behind being indelibly marked by a progressive and uncompromising
attitude. Sticking firm to ideals and principles, he has remained connected
to the roots of techno, eschewing the mainstream to follow an unswerving,
singular vision, guided by a deep and enduring devotion to the music that
inspires him and a desire to present it in the purest way possible. Stepping
out here with new material and a new venture, Bicknell's trademark raw,
minimal aesthetics and conceptual underpinning have clearly been retained. He
describes new release 'Modes of Thought' as being founded upon "the
awareness of thought processes, understanding the connection between the
heart and the brain through vibrations that are created via the
blood-stream." Essential floor gear, 'modes of thought' introduces three
tracks of taught, lean minimal techno before handing creativity over to the
DJ with the inclusion of 6 locked groove loops. Lean and precise, with a
beautifully controlled palette, wide dynamics, and rich level of sonic
detail, the record flies out of the blocks with the pumping 'harmonious
balance' described by its creator as a "reflection on hatred and
furthering an understanding of hate and how acceptance induces balance".
Continuing to unpack the work, 'The Moment I Stopped' is described as "a

June 30, 2017. Metro Skim's Identifying Possibilities is the second release
on Steve Bicknell's 6dimensions label. With technology becoming ever more
synonymous with the mind and body it is no surprise that when asked about the
future of Techno, Metro Skim simply replies "Techno is the future".
Working with technical limitations, Metro Skim masters the "art of
omission" showing that what can be left out is just as important as what
is included. For Metro Skim, innovation is born out of the limitations of
analog equipment. The EP, Identifying Possibilities, is defined "by the
removal of floating matter, to release unnecessary thoughts: Skim".
Whilst the EP finds influence in inter-dimensional space travel, space is
also found within the structure and arrangement of the tracks. Momentum is
achieved with ticking 909 Hi-Hats and grumbling basslines before being thrown
into whole tracks of beat-less techno sequences. With 6dimensions exploring
the 'balance and imbalance of the human mind's natural make-up' Metro Skim
has taken the label ethos as blueprint and examines the unpredictability of
the human condition through otherworldly synthesis. 'Awareness' and 'From 3D
into 5th' open the EP with confident minimalism. With relentless modular
sequences and gradual progression of 909 beats, these compositions showcase
alien sounds held together by familiar technologies. 'Lost In It' finds the
EP at its most unforgiving. Crisp hi-hats and rides rapidly drive the track
forward over the transcendental modular synthesis that have quickly become
inseparable from Metro Skim's approach to production. The more commonplace
traits of Techno are slowly peeled away on the EP's second side.
'Unconsciousness', 'Inner Resistance' and 'Into Imbalance' reveal the full
force of Metro Skim's adventitious sound pallet that expands upon the
soundscapes that are presented in the beginning of the EP. Modular sequences
become dissonant and the recognizable 909 is taken away. Metro Skim's influence
of feeling 'lost in the madness of daily life' is apparent in the ending of
this EP as what has become accustomed in the realms of electronic music is
stripped away. Identifying Possibilities finds its inspiration in the
symbiotic nature of human feeling and space, presenting confusion,
familiarity, awareness balance and imbalance within a techno construct. Metro
Skim describes music as a 'spiritual travel' and Identifying possibilities
succeeds in this statement |

player from cult New Zealand producer SHADOW CLUB. With over a decade of
releases under his belt as RQ it's more than fair to say he has pushed back
the boundaries of the possible in Drum & Bass music in terms of the
musical and emotional depth of his productions, while also quietly sitting at
the vanguard defining the visual aesthetic of Drum & Bass culture through
his acclaimed sleeve designs and graphics work. Drawing on influences as
disparate as Tangerine Dream and William Gibson, the album takes golden era
deep atmospheric Jungle as a starting point and beams it off into an
optimistic future; skittering breakbeats, shimmering pads, and an artfully
controlled and constant sense of progressive forward momentum. We feel it's
the kind of energy the world badly needs. The whole thing sounds incredible
as a body of work, cohesive, authentic, fresh. This isn't revivalism for the
sake of it either there's a real sense of modernity and edge even in the
deepest passages of some of these tunes. Having only in recent years settled
on "Shadow Club" as an outlet for productions that didn't quite fit
inside the scope of his RQ moniker, the precise nature of what this album
would develop into still came as somewhat of a welcome surprise even to him.
Simply stated: "I just wanted to make tunes that sounded like
that". We're absolutely delighted he did, and we're immensely proud to

Since
its release in March 2024 Perc's album 'The Cut Off' hascontinued to rise in
stature with glowing reviews including an 'RA Recommends' award from Resident
Advisor , 'Best of 2024' list appearances and tracks such as 'Static'
featuring Sissel Wincent and 'Imperial Leather' becoming dance floor hits
around the world. The album also spawned a 26 date album tour with shows at
festivals and clubs across Europe, USA and South America. Now 'The Cut Off'
returns as two remix EPs containing reworks from a wide range of artists all
operating at the cutting edge of forward facing electronic music, with this
first EP taking in everything from tough industrial hardcore through deeper
sounds all the way to London acid techno. Opening up the EP is Dutch legend Ophidian,
who transforms 'Static' from grinding techno into an epic fusion of hard
edged techno and industrial hardcore. Already one of the most requested
tracks from Perc's recent sets, this Ophidian remix once heard is never
forgotten. Staying with the Netherlands, Vera Grace shows a relatively new
side to her sound moulding Perc's 'Fett23' into a echoing slice of hypnotic
techno. Heavy on sound design with a driving synthesised pulse leading the
charge Vera's remix constantly builds momentum without ever getting
repetitive. On the B-side Acerbic (aka London acid techno hero Ant) pumps
'Imperial Leather' full of caustic acid with a huge arrangement that never
sits still for long. Perc is known as a key supporter of this classic London
sound and this remix has been his biggest acid track recently. Finally
Argentina's Zisko becomes the first ever South American artist to appear on
Perc Trax. A breakout star of the new wave of groove led percussive techno
with multiple recent appearances at Berghain, Zisko takes deep cut 'Milk
Snatcher's Return' and adds swinging hihats and rides and just a touch of dub
techno for a perfect example of why his sound is so in demand right now |

sticks to its’ #eatsleepcollect mantra with this limited edition 7” by UK
Techno pioneers NEXUS 21. Both tracks were stuck in the NETWORK vaults (well
a metal box full of DATS) since being recorded in 1991 before greeting the
World on the NEXUS 21 MIND MACHINES LP released last December. Both stood out
on that album so much that issuing them on a 300 press run 7” single for
collectors seems the obvious thing to do. SELF HYPNOSIS has long been a
signature anthem for early UK Techno but the version here is radically
different from the original,and fascinatingly gives a glimpse of the Rave
machinations that Mark and Chris would champion as they transformed into
ALTERN 8. The studio recording of SILICON was not released on any format
until the recent album. It was left on the shelf as both label and artist
focused on ALTERN 8 instead of NEXUS 21. Part bleep and part clonk it’s a
classic snapshot of the North Of London UK soundscape in 199.1. And that
makes the fact that this version was recorded live at London’s much loved
Brain club in April of that year somewhat ironic. It’s incredibly clear for a
live record and incredibly good |

Italian
sound artist Marco Shuttle debuts on Astral Industries with AI-39. Alluring
and evocative, ‘Sonidos y Modulaciones de la Selva’ is a journey deep into
the Amazon rainforest, seeking to capture its power and vastness, but also a
rumination on the problem of its impending destruction. In this album Shuttle
sees the continuation and further ripening of an ongoing creative process,
utilising both audio and visual documentations as source material. On this
occasion most of the field recordings were taken in the Tupana Arü Ü nature
reserve in the Amazonas region of Columbia, between Leticia and Puerto
Nariño. For the compositional process Shuttle employs a distinctly minimalist
approach, achieving highly rich and articulate soundscapes with relatively
little. Painting with an almost impressionistic stroke, the depth of imagery
is underpinned by a strong experimental leaning and a sophisticated musical
language. Within its wild freeform, the seamless interplay between nature and
the machines sees them merge into a mysterious dance - a liquifying sequence
of scenes that shimmer with flora, fauna and the unmistakable aliveness of
the jungle. A procession of sputtering and cavernous pulsations, sprawling
biologies and hidden mysteries, the jungle as an entity, a spirit, begins to
emerge. With all its peculiarities and strangeness, it reveals a world of
seeming chaos, yet underneath it all a thread of something innately
conscious. Although it could be considered a form of sound diary, the scope
spans much further than a standalone creative work. Within its intoxicating
montage of shifting forms, ‘Sonidos y Modulaciones de la Selva’ stands as a
sonic ethnography, and a contemplation on time, space, and our evolving
relationship with nature. Ongoing large-scale logging, agriculture and
infrastructure projects are leading to significant deforestation in the
Amazon, and continues to threaten biodiversity, the global environment and
the livelihoods of indigenous communities. Part of the proceedings from this
release will be donated to Amazon Watch (amazonwatch.org), a nonprofit
organisation that works to protect the rainforest and advance the rights of
indigenous peoples in the Amazon Basin. “Special thanks goes to Marco Cruz
from Amazon Jungle Trips and to Aberlardo and Manuel (who is also the
narrator of the story at the end of Part 2), the indigenous guides who took
me deep into the forest and made me experience its overwhelmingly powerful
beauty. This record is dedicated to Colombia and all the fantastic people I

Georgian
powerhouse Yanamaste drops long-anticipated new EP on Mutual Rytm. In-demand
DJ/producer Yanamaste is a resident at Georgia's renowned Khidi Club and a
key part of Amsterdam's Vault Sessions crew. His unique sound and fresh
creative approach result in raw and visceral techno, reflecting his passion
for pushing boundaries and showcased perfectly via his 'Dance' EP on Vault
last year. Now, he returns with an EP born out of the creative process behind
his live set with a debut appearance on SHDW's Mutual Rytm, 'Evil' - a
collection of heavily-requested tracks that have already made an impact after
featuring in his Boiler Room and Stone Techno Festival livestream. 'Evil'
kicks things off with perfectly rubbery, funky drum patterns and an urgent sense
of movement that sweeps you off your feet. 'Lahante' is more percussive, with
busy snares riding the rolling, forceful drums and stark synths arresting
your attention. 'Dragonfly' is perfectly reduced via minimal drums
intertwined with thunderous effects and ghoulish energy, while 'Modulation
Detected' has a more cosmic feel as it journeys into the future with
whispered spoken words and synths searching across the face of the groove.
Last but not least is the irresistible broken beat goodness of 'Walking On
Mars', with its swinging kicks and vast bassline spraying about the mix
beneath hypnotic melodic patterns. Two superb bonus cuts, 'Ohohoi' and
'Pwiu', are also provided for digital buyers, bringing further gems loaded
