already had quite a career. Beginning as a gospel singer Franklin spent the
early '60s recording in a variety of styles to varying success. While her
other releases were overproduced and poppy, these very early recordings with
the Ray Bryant group are beautiful jazz vocal stylings in the manner of Sarah
Vaughan or Ella Fitzgerald. Beautifully recorded with no overdubs this is
fantastic early '60s jazz and her voice is as perfect a fit for this material
as it is for the soul she's famous for |

re-imagined jazz standards. Brussels-based artist Adja Fassa releases her
debut album, two years after her well-received EP IRONEYE - and it is
promising to be quite a ride. This contemporary body of work showcases 11
stories, each telling their story of the impact our capitalistic society has
on our most intimate moments: from dystopian neo-soul tales of
Deliveroo-drivers being stalked by telemarketers (both of them
selling/delivering literal 'hope and dreams'), to re-imagined jazz standards
and classical songs about conditional friendships, based on time and money.
We even get her take on the 'stick-it-to-the-man-sing-along-rock-song', which
she called 'Sucking on my Emphatitties'. And then we have the title song
'Golden Retrieve Her' which is as much an accumulation of feelings as of
musical curiosities. " 'Golden Retrieve Her' is a wordplay on wanting to
retrieve my kindness in a violent social system. Simultaneously, it is
criticizing the fact that we, the masses, are often asked to either be naive
or pretend we are. All of this accumulated in a visual image of what our
social system considers 'the perfect, obedient nuclear family': a kind couple
with 2.4 children, a house in the suburbs and... a Golden Retriever." ~
Adja. Serious and concrete topics, wrapped up in a symbolic package, as Adja
values both straightforwardness, critical thinking and, paradoxically, a bit
of mysticism. For her visual artwork, she created four, self-made tarot
cards, that represent the four themes on the album: 'The Wheel Of Fortune',
embodies the desire to get the upper hand in a system that doesn't align with
your values. 'The Mirror', represents projection and likeness within lost
connections (whether with strangers or with friends), 'The Dark Wheel'
embodies the turning point of the wheel of fortune, where one is completely
surrendered to their own moral demise and 'The Cave' stands for the -
sometimes painful, sometimes blissful - return to one's own mind and heart.
Musically, this album contains as much variety as song titles, as Adja
continues to explore her own depths as an artist and musician, together with

but not least, she gathered 13 musicians to deliver the sound she brings to
her album, among them her 5 steady band members and 8 studio musicians from

release Identifying Possibilities, which saw the producer's futurist
avant-garde techno immerse the listener with concepts of spirituality and the
minds internal makeup. Pairing such human experiences with techno seems
almost paradoxical but Metro Skim's ability to create emotion through concept
and sound has quickly become his definitive characteristic. On the surface,
Actualising Possibilities presents itself as a lucid and dark collection of
minimal-techno but when asked about the release Metro Skim's objectives
demonstrate something entirely different. On the track Monotony, Metro Skim
explains ""If time is linear, every moment is new. Monotony is just
an experience or Ignorance.". It's with this that Metro Skim becomes a
bastion for mindfulness through a techno lense, finding positivity through
something that might initially seem disconcerting. Incandescent in it's
force, Actualising Possibilities drives forward at an unrelenting pace with
the use of the Roland 909 that was more sparsely used on the producers debut.
Metro Skim still prides himself in the "art of omission" - a
process that see's the producer finding inspiration through the limitations
of analog equipment. By working this way Metro Skim has created an instantly
distinguished style with the use of growling bass sequences and modular
synths that are sonically inseparable from science-fiction soundscapes. The
EP ends with an unsettling and thought provoking beatless sequence that
further fuels the alluring crypticism of Metro Skim's ethos and ambition. To
'Actualise' is to make a reality of something. Throughout these 5 tracks,
Metro Skim is eager to actualise the possibility of alternative thinking and

own anxieties and fears. Heartless manages to mature his already distinctive
sound through experimentations in unconventional tunings and microtonality,
creating something truly original and otherworldly. Conceived in the
isolation of the Welsh countryside, Internal Crosstalk doesn't find influence
in anything other than the battle between Heartless' positive and negative
meditations of the human form. The EP beings with ruminations of
existentialism in 'Who We Are What We Are'. Mutated tribal bassline and short
bursts of tense percussive clatterings live throughout the track in what
Heartless calls "a classic crescendo piece". A true understanding
of pace remains a focal skill for Heartless, building dizzying synths with
just the right amount dynamic shifts producing a perfect balance of anxiety
and relief. 'Into the Shadows' is Heartless at his darkest and most
experimental. Overdriven rave chords squirm around a kick pattern that
remains the same over the course of the track. Heartless presents a truly
cinematic depiction of isolation through intensely thought over sound design.
'Internal Voice' is inspired by Heartless' "doubts regarding production
choices" . It focuses on the internal voices that question your decision
making during creative processes. Heartless uses feedback chains and filters
to mimic the tiring relentlessness of self-doubt, the questions and
never-ending tweaks that come with production of art. The song effortlessly
strips away all the intensity built up throughout the track during the last
minute, it simulates the hope that is gained through smatterings of
self-confidence. 'Urgency of Self' is the breakdown of the battle between the
meditations of positive and negative thought explored through the EP. A
reflection of the fear of change, 'Urgency of Self' is static in its
structure and unlike its predecessors, stays the same, almost succumbing to
its own negative thought. Taken as whole, Internal Crosstalk ultimately finds
triumph in its ability to overcome the anxieties that influenced it.
Claustrophobic, sinister and hauntingly introspective, Heartless has produced
an EP for anyone who has ever found doubt in their own abilities whilst

people feel good about themselves." Good things come to those who wait:
after more than 20 years as a musician, Gustaph is releasing his debut album,
Look At Us Now. The title is a phrase from the song Because Of You, which won
him seventh place at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2023. "Look At Us
Now may be taken literally," Gustaph explains. "Look where we are
now after 20 years of hardwork. And look where we are with the queer
movement: as a queer artist, I can openly be myself and sing about the things
that are important to me." Gustaph's soulful voice takes us through
various themes, from believing in yourself and fickle lovers to chosen family
and loss. Look At Us Now is a pop record infused with nineties house, dance
and disco, but we also spot a ballad (Miss You The Most) and two Scandi-pop
tracks: Like You, an ode to love and Darker Days, an epic track that will
pull you through bleak periods with panache. "I wanted to make a record
that makes people feel good about themselves," Gustaph says. "One
that they put on while getting ready to go out or just to start the day. A
little pick-me-up that makes them think: Yes, now I can kick ass." When
you play the record for the first time, you'll already be able to sing along
to a bunch of tracks: there's Because Of You of course, butalso more recent

record was produced in London with Richard X, known for his work with Róisín

During
their short but prolific career, A2L released two albums, one of which
strangely landed on a South African label. They also dropped numerous EPs on
labels such as 1st Bass / Big One (home to acts like Deskee, Longsy D, and
King Bee) and the German label Force Inc (which hosted artists like Alec
Empire, Porter Ricks, and Mike Ink), between 1988 and 1990. While Acid House
is synonymous with the Roland 303, A2L is unlikely an acid house act.
Instead, they stand as one of the finest examples of British psychedelic
house music from the late 80s, falling between the likesof S-Express,
Funtopia, Eon, and Acid Angels. With standout tracks like "Even Though
It's Make Believe" and "Come On," A2L delivers infectious
grooves over strobelight sample jams. This here is a collection of early and
rare underground British psychedelic house gems from 1989, blending the
trippy, mind-expanding sounds of machine funk, new beat, industrial/ebm,
samplers and turntables techniques, with the birth of acid house
wonderlandand and captures the raw energy of the UK rave scene. This is one
testament to the creative freedom and experimental nature of that era. For

/ R&S are delighted to welcome back The Primitive Painter, aka the duo of
Roman Flügel and Jorn Elling Wuttke for a timely reissue of their 1994 lost
classic self-titled album of sonorous IDM. Growing up in Frankfurt, in the
80s and 90s the duo met at an indie rock club in their home town of
Darmstadt, bonding over their shared obsession with the first wave of acid,
Chicago house and early Detroit techno as well as their patronage of now
iconic Frankfurt club nights like The Omen or Dorian Gray or the infamous
Delirium Record shop run by scene stalwarts Ata (Robert Johnson) and Heiko
MSO (Playhouse). Taking inspiration from the likes of The Black Dog and
Transmat as well as seminal compilations such as Planet E’s Intergalactic
Beats and Warp’s Artificial intelligence compilation the duo honed their
inventive take on the Detroit techno blueprint under the monicker Acid Jesus,
debuting on their freshly minted Klang Elektronik label. The label was
started in conjunction with Ata and Heiko after Fluegel & Wuttke (regular
patrons of the Delirium store) pressed a demo on them, muttering the immortal
line; Please listen to the tape, we are big Mr. Fingers fans. Through the mid
’90s the project flourished giving rise to a classic album and a brace of
singles that number amongst the best of the era’s techno, winning them a
influential fans most notably Sven Väth, David Holmes and Andrew Weatherall
who invited them to play live at one of the legendary Sabresonic parties in
London. Alongside the success of the Acid Jesus project, the duo found great
inspiration in outside of the club, including an ambient happening when the
KLF came to play Frankfurt; There were live sheep eating grass on stage while
they played at Mark Spoon’s club XS, as well as cinematic influence from the
likes of Jim Jarmush and Wim Wenders. It was however the euphonic IDM
grandeur of Apollo Recordings self titled compilation of 1993 that really got
their creative juices flowing: It was a ten track compilation with artists
like David Morley, Model 500, Aphex Twin which still sounds so good today,
Jorn enthuses. It was really the trigger to go away from the Detroit sound
and more towards the big melodies of B12 etc. Deciding to make their tribute
to this style of music the duo turned out 10 tracks of gauzy, melodious
electronica in a white hot fever, one after another over the ensuing months.
Settling on a name for the new project they picked ‘The Primitive Painters’
taking inspiration from the band Felt. We are both children of the C86
movement, explains Jorn. this attitude of noisy art school influenced rock
like Primal Scream, MBV, The Jesus & Mary Chain really inspired us to
take a DIY approach to our music. They sent the resulting demo cassette to
Renaat at R&S / Apollo. We really had no expectations, Jorn explains. So
we were shocked and delighted when we received a fax saying that he wanted to
release it. The resulting release was bungled by an R&S mix up that
attributed the album to the duo’s own Klang Elektronik label which confused
both fans and distributors alike, denying the release the critical boost and
attention that it so richly deserved. Accordingly the release slipped out
without much fanfare, with a chastened Fluegel & Wuttke returning to
their Acid Jesus activities which would eventually lead to their blockbusting
success as Alter Ego. Over the ensuing years the reputation of The Primitive
Painter album has only grown, with second hand copies (only 500 vinyl were
pressed) changing hands for exorbitant amounts on Discogs, leading us to this
opportune moment of a richly deserved ‘first’ release on the label for which
the project was started, Apollo / R&S. This really brings us full circle,
says Jorn. Apollo / R&S meant and means so much to us as artists and so
it was bittersweet to not have the official release - to put that right all
these years later feels really good. This new vinyl release comes in
re-created original gatefold artwork and includes all original 10 tracks
(Stoned Soul Picnic was previously on the CD only) |

Another new project from Gerd who
is probably one of the most underrated producers in the dance scene. Delgui
is the new artist name he uses for his club orientated broken beat/ nu jazz
producions. Highlights is such a sweat an amazing track he did together with
Xanton Blacq that we couldn't resist releasing this. A suberb soulfull and
jazzy track which is an instant classic for the broken beat and future jazz
heads aswell as the Detroit techno freaks. It is difficult not to fall in
love with this song. For the flip side we asked Charles Webster who is
actually one of our favorite house producers to do his version of Highlights.
He delivered one of his best works ever! A trade mark Charles Webster
bassline and smooth chords and some live instruments turned this track in a
killer club track. One of those rare vocal tracks that actually can be played
in the heat of the night |

history was the day that Roy Davis Jr. teamed with vocalist and writer Peven
Everett in 1997 to create this deep, ethereal, soul-music gem that helped
launch an entire musical movement known affectionately as Speed Garage. The

grown in popularity over time. It is hard to believe that this record is

the legendary Emmanuel Top from Belgium. Electro acid and a building up deep

has to offer; Justin Verkijk. B1 provides a tribute to the EBM wave scene,

Ekman
returns to Shipwrec! "Five years is a long time. For many, 2020 seems
like a lifetime ago. It was in this fabled year that Ekman last appeared on
Shipwrec, Kronkel marking a shift from the blackened acid blooms to more
considered, yet unsettling, sounds. It is from this audio fount the dutchman
returns with Elixer. Throbs of bass and rasping snares shear a path for
smoother tones in Alruin Met Cranberry. Injecting the ever-present sense of
unease, a menacing melody stalks the constricting recesses as paranoia takes
hold. These inner alcoves are further explored in the disturbing Doornappel
Met Peer. Spectral synth-lines don a thin shimmering veil, warbling notes
tremble while beats offer little relief in this unstable outing. Aquatic
undercurrents introduce the flip, a sharp drum slicing through the burbling
bass of Codeine En Rozemarijn. From this murky soup, a string ascends as
Ekman toys with contrasting tones to produce a piece of acid dipped elegance.
Shattered drums pierce the ambient fog of the finale. Alsem Met Anijs blends
intricate percussion with soulful strings to produce a hauntingly beautiful
dreamscape to finish Ekman's heady brew |

718 aka iconic NYC DJ Danny Tenaglia dropped this 'E2-E4' riffing classic
back in the mists of 1992. Manuel Göttsching's original track would have been
a staple of NYC clubs back then and would have featured in the warm up sets
of jocks like Tenaglia who favoured the longer, deeper sets as well as on the
play-lists of institutional night-spots such as the Loft and the Garage. The
track's influence on a whole era of DJ's and producers that followed is
immeasurable and across 3 sublime mixes Tenaglia distills the magic of the
original into something totally NYC and club-friendly without losing any of
the Göttsching magic, even managing to sprinkle a little Grace Jones in the
mix with her fabulous 'I floated on a cloud' vocal sample liberally applied.
'Equinox' takes us on a trip that is emotive, uplifting and warm. This is how
House music is meant to sound, respectfully steeped in what preceded it yet
moving forward in a fresh direction. Another example of how on the money
Strictly Rhythm were in their early days, classic after classic rolled out of
the labels' offices and us, the record buying legions, were / are better off
for it! This one's a tasty 2017 reissue and remaster, featuring all 3 mixes,

Wellen.Brecher
is an electronic band with punk attitude, which has been transcending and
subverting electronic music genre boundaries for the past 6 years. After the
release of Tierisch Verboten, which can confidently be described as the
"soundtrack to inclusion", and a strong second release on our label
Killekill, LIEBESERKLARUNG is the band's first full length album. Including a
series of first-class remixes. Refreshingly, the entire release is not based
on the corny bad trance traditions loved by contemporary Buffalo shoe
wearers. Instead - intentionally or not - it follows a series of almost
historical musical quotations from over the last 40 years with each track on
the album feeling like a new adventure. The album opens with TUROFFNER, which
has a kind of an Afrika Bambaataa intro, before turning into a wonderfully
tresoresque/Detroit techno beast, always commented on or counteracted by the

Wellen.Brecher
is an electronic band with punk attitude, which has been transcending and
subverting electronic music genre boundaries for the past 6 years. After the
release of Tierisch Verboten, which can confidently be described as the
"soundtrack to inclusion", and a strong second release on our label
Killekill, LIEBESERKLARUNG is the band's first full length album. Including a
series of first-class remixes. Refreshingly, the entire release is not based
on the corny bad trance traditions loved by contemporary Buffalo shoe
wearers. Instead - intentionally or not - it follows a series of almost
historical musical quotations from over the last 40 years with each track on
the album feeling like a new adventure. The album opens with TUROFFNER, which
has a kind of an Afrika Bambaataa intro, before turning into a wonderfully
tresoresque/Detroit techno beast, always commented on or counteracted by the

in a controlled, contemplative reflection of his inner self, laid bare in
breaks-driven form for the enjoyment of Spatial fans new and old - continuing
the ongoing celebration and evolution of classic atmospheric drum & bass.
A1 - Fear of the Deep: Curious, high twinkling bells cautiously introduce
Fear of the Deep, reminiscent of classic sci-fi movies building atmosphere
and intrigue, before the hi-hat heavy, snappy break previously used in
Spatial classic Essence (also by ASC) makes a welcome return. The 2-step -
occasionally broken - beat pattern drives the track along with a darkly,
investigative energy, while a typically deep bassline rumbles beneath,
setting the scene perfectly. A2 - Concentric Circles: A change of pace for
ASC here with Concentric Circles, exploring a jazzier spectrum of influences
not often broached in his production adventures, with broken scattershot
beats toying and playing around a wealth of reverberating brass samples to
create a minimal yet quietly imposing undertone. Double bass props up the
composition wonderfully, completing an exquisitely quirky entry to the LP. B1
- Say It: Opening with rousing strings and quietly ominous effects, ASC
utilises a unique fusion of melancholic atmospherics, jazzy basslines and a
classic old-school breakbeat to form Say It. Dense, purposeful kicks stomp
across the mix as the strings and synthwork wash in the foreground,
developing a sombre, contemplative tone to the track throughout, before a
wonderful outro ending with those delightful strings. B2 - Virtual World:
Filtered Hot Pants breaks gently ease their way to the forefront of a
beautifully constructed intro to Virtual World, trademark crispness and
intricacy etched onto the beats effortlessly, as we've come to expect from
ASC. Delicately nuanced vocal samples combine with an intense concoction of
synths and micro-melodies, dancing over the sharp breaks and a suitably
earthy undertone bassline. C1 - Eons: The classic, intense atmospherics
continue with Eons, a spacey piece introduced by a memorable melody, tinged
with purpose and allure. This melody continues through sci-fi computer FX
reminiscent of early 720, and persistent backdrop synths as we are treated to
a gentle flurry of perfectly edited amens leaping and falling over subtle,
juddering basslines creating that elusive blend of both headphone and
dancefloor appeal. C2 - Timeslides: ASC flexes the timeless Hot Pants break
again - crisply edited with a sharpness in the mix which is simply to die for
- in Timeslides, a track which continues the brooding, introspective tone of
the LP. Utilising a varied array of samples and effects which will transport
you straight back to that unmistakable era of 90's atmospheric heaven with
several nods to forefathers of this wonderful sound - just how we like it at
Spatial. D1 - Lightspeed: Take a moment to appreciate the bells tolling,
glimmering and colliding during an enchanting intro, freely crafting layered
melodies without a care as ASC presents us with an immensely memorable piece
in Lightspeed. Long, elongated vocals drift and swirl through the airy
soundscape, all punctuated by finely tuned and arranged Circles breaks,
energetically deployed for the discerning breakbeat aficionado. D2 -
Nightvision: Intensity is dialled up to 11 in Nightvision, a deeply
atmospheric track which showcases a perfect, symbiotic combination of
melancholy, drama and raw energy. The lively breaks take center stage over a
heavy, consistent 808 bassline with enveloping masses of atmospherics
circling, gripping your attention, joined by dreamy vocal samples deployed

Trax is proud to unleash the second EP of remixes of tracks from Perc's
Resident Advisor recommended album 'The Cut Off'. Following on from EP1 this
collection of remixes again covers a range of sounds from cutting edge
Parisian deep techno to the sound of the UK underground scene. Opening up the
EP is Mac Declos, a breakout star of the Paris techno scene and a key member
of Anetha's Mama Told Ya crew. Mac takes 'Full Goblin', one of the more
uncompromising tracks on 'The Cut Off' and transforms it into a slice of
grinding stripped back techno, recalling the glory days of Daniel Bell's DBX
project. Next up Sweden's Peder Mannerfelt, who has a long association with
Perc & Perc Trax, remixes album standout track 'Static' which features
his regular collaborator Sissel Wincent. Peder's version of 'Static' recalls
classic Detroit electro with the addition of gliding harp runs providing a
glistening counterpoint to the jabbing drums and Sissel's deadpan vocal
delivery. On the B-side Perc Trax new boy Million follows up his recent 'Six
Ways To Die' EP taking hold of 'UK Style', originally one of the 'The Cut
Off's more abstract tracks, energising it into a driving techno / jungle
hybrid with just a sprinkling of classic UK rave to raise a smile on the face
of the most exhausted raver. Finally UK underground legend Boy Pete drags
'Imperial Leather' to the nearest free party, dirtying up Perc's epic
original delivering a remix that will keep any 4am dance floor bubbling with

has been a profound turning point for me-not just as an artist, but as a
human being. The X1 Shift EP is more than a collection of tracks; it's a
story, a refl ection of the shifts I've embraced, and the identity I'm
uncovering at my core. I've always felt that music is storytelling, not boxes
to be labelled. Whether through ambient textures, techno grooves, or
experimental soundscapes, each genre represents a chapter in a bigger story.
The magic lies in weaving them together into something timeless and deeply
resonant-much like the origins of electronic music. For me, the essence of
being an artist is freedom-creating without limits and exploring the beauty
of the unexpected. This EP represents thatfreedom: the love of pushing
boundaries, the courage to evolve, and the joy of stepping into the unknown.
Every sound on X1 Shift is intentional, every transition meaningful, yet
there's also room for spontaneity. Technically, the EP features the tools and
hardware that inspire me: the Korg Electribe (my heart), Yamaha DX200, NI
Maschine+, Arturia Minifreak, and plugins from NI and Plugin Alliance. These
tools became the palette for painting this journey. Thank you, James, for

next unfolding into fluid motion. The machine logic remains intact, but with
an organic pulse running through it, shaping each track in real time. A

The amazing Silver Clouds finally
officialy released. After the 300 copies promo pressing it now comes with a
bonus remix by Dexter. Actually the original is already good enough... but
since remixing is the new black we thought we drop in a special one too.
Photocall is the LA based team of Eli Epstein and Terryn Westbrook. Their
Silver Clouds is allready very sought after. The original version is an ice
cold electro track with Egyptian Lover style beats and a funking minimal
bassline that really makes you move your ass. The track really kicks of with
an additional synth line, the vocals of Terryn and a bleepy melodie which has
somehow the same ,its all good vibe, as Space Invaders Are Smoking Grass. And
as usual Dexter did great job by minimalising the track and turning the
original into a electro-funk kind of track with crazy edits that works like
crazy on the floor. Must have! |

December 6, 2024, Randomer will return with a new EP titled MTY-012:
Everything Happens for No Reason, released via Anetha’s label, Mama Told Ya.
After a reflective hiatus, the UK prodigy is highly anticipated and ready to
deliver meaningful music. The EP features five emotionally charged
tracks—four produced by Randomer and one co-produced by Randomer and Anetha.
Presented on a single vinyl, the release conveys a deeper message: life’s
unpredictability can be embraced, reminding us that we can find our way even
in chaos and randomness. Torn between the meaningful and the meaningless,
Randomer channeled his time into crafting music shaped by his extensive study
of melodies, subconsciously seeking to bring harmony to the world. The result
is a cathartic journey across five tracks, each evoking a broad spectrum of
emotions and inviting listeners to explore the depth of their feelings.
Drawing from the music that deeply influenced him, Randomer traverses various
genres and moods, seamlessly blending techno, trance, techstep, and sacred
choral music in a perpetual act of personal reinvention. Let the choir sing I
Saw the World Melt (A1) right before my eyes, and let the people chant my
melancholic melody. Nervous Breakdown. Lost in the riffs with dis ting from
London, DHM Jam (A2) fuels me with adrenaline, I’m flying through memories,
urged to move on. Yet, I’m still trapped : the clock shows Home Invasion
(A3)—better start running. We will survive. But where’s my harmony? I Can’t
Believe (B1) it. Why me? Why us? In this trance state of mind, I have so many
questions, but those voices on the other side won’t answer. We’re doomed
anyway, so why not plug in like the Two Perfect Machines (B2) we are, until
the end. For this new EP, Australian visual artist Nic Hamilton has been
commissioned to create a poignant artwork alongside two melting teasers for
MTY-012. As always, the design is expertly crafted by Diplomatie Studio,
while the mastering is entrusted to Six Bit Deep, ensuring a polished and

Measure
Divide makes his full debut EP for Mutual Rytm X with his latest release,
'Everything Is Porridge'. Karachi-born artist Measure Divide now resides in
Toronto, where his FORMAT parties have revived the techno scene over the last
decade. In that time, he has eschewed techno by numbers with innovative
sounds on Clergy and Mutual Rytm while appearing at iconic clubs like
Berghain, K41 and Tresor. Outside of the underground, he has years of
experience in sound design and scoring for animations and films, and that is
what he channels here into a uniquely playful sound with a vibrant and
playful departure from his usual serious tones for his first full EP on
SHDW's Mutual Rytm X. A record for adventurous DJs and listeners craving
bold, mischievous and innovative sounds, the EP's title, inspired by an
inside joke about calling anything edible "porridge", reflects the
chaotic and unpredictable state of the world - a mushy mix of uncertainty.
This same unpredictability shines through the tracks, which combine techno,
breaks, modular experimentation and plenty more. The superbly original title
cut begins with a restless mix of unusual percussive sounds and fizzing
synths over thudding drums. It's tense and twisted and sounds like nothing
else. 'Wormy Wonderland' is another brilliantly outthere cut with freaky
noises and scuzzy textures over body-popping techno drums, and 'Eeeeeermmmm'
then slows down with a menacing synth buzz and caustic broken beats. Digital
bonus tracks 'Shrew Cascade' and 'Clumsy Clatter' further challenge techno
norms with watery sound effects, twisted synth lines and inventive rhythmical
patterns |
