A new pressing of THE COURETTES
classic `Back In Mono' LP on PIC DISC VINYL! The Courettes proudly present
their third album, Back In Mono, now available on picture disc LP! The album
cemented their place in the garage rock firmament. Its "spit 'n'snarl
garage rumble-meets-Phil Spector pop" showcased the band in top form -
great songwriting skills, Spector-esque arrangements, with broader nuances,
influences and production qualities added to their garage rock recipe.
Fourteen Wagnerian teen-trash-tragedy masterpieces - it's as if The Ronettes
and The Ramones were invited to a wild party in Gold Star Studios' echo
chamber. Fuzz guitars, loud drums, trashy pianos, jingle bells, tambourines
and three-minute dance floor garage killers where a Wall of Sound blasts the
songs out of the speakers! Produced and recorded by Soren Christensen at
Starr Sound Recording Studios in Denmark and mixed by top producer/wall of
sound aficionado Seiki Sato in Japan |

Quartet
Records, Geffen Records and Paramount Pictures present the premiere release
of the complete score by Harold Faltermeyer (BEVERLY HILLS COP, TOP GUN,
FLETCH, TANGO AND CASH) for Douglas Day Stewart's 1984 sexual, romantic
drama-thriller THIEF OF HEARTS, starring Steven Bauer, Barbara Williams and
John Getz. The film is about a woman trapped in a boring marriage who begins
an affair with a handsome man who seems able to read her mind. She doesn't
know that he has broken into her house and read her diaries, in which she has
recorded her deepest thoughts and fantasies. Harold Faltermeyer provided an
intense, romantic and suspenseful electronic score, varied and rhythmic. The
composer also wrote and produced several pop songs for the film, and arranged
the original song "Thief of Hearts," composed by Giorgio Moroder
and performed by Melissa Manchester, which was a huge hit in its single
version. The popular THIEF OF HEARTS soundtrack album was released by MCA on
LP and CD and reissued several times over the years, although in its
40-minute length it included only the five songs and five score cues
specifically arranged for the album. This limited 2-CD edition from Quartet
Records includes, for the first time, the complete score composed and
recorded by Faltermeyer for the film, and also the remastered MCA album,
unused cues, demos, and alternate versions of both score and songs. A treat
for all fans of 80s synth sound! Meticulously produced by Dan Goldwasser and
mastered by Doug Schwartz, the 20-page full color package includes in-depth
liner notes by film music writer Daniel Schweiger |

My War is the second studio. It
was the first of three full-length albums the band released in 1984. The
album polarized fans due to the LP's B-side, on which the band slowed down to
a heavy, Black Sabbath-esque trudge after establishing expectations as a
faster hardcore punk band on its first album, Damaged |

Los Belkings belong to the
exceptional cast of bands that emerged in the mid-sixties on the Lima scene
that were capable of producing some of the best examples of rock music at
that time at the level of contemporary scenes. At this point names like Traffic
Sound, Los Saicos, Laghonia, We All Together or Los York's - to mention a few
- are considered the best in their styles and manners. The Belking's stand
out not only for the virtuosity and masterful handling of the guitarist of
Wilfredo Sandoval and Raúl Herrera but for the original and richness of their
sounds, predicting the Latin Rock of the 70s that shook the world. These
sixteen pearls extracted from their discography recorded between 1966 and
1973 are proof of this, for many the best instrumental band on the continent |

Oddball
indie-pop band Meetsysteem returns this spring with their long-awaited third
studio album; their most beautiful one yet. What began as a search for a
simple solo-record, a warm sound and a feeling reminiscent of their debut
release, Geen Signaal, evolved into something far greater. In an attempt to
rediscover that feeling, the writing began in the same spaces in Thailand
where Geen Signaal was produced. It was there, on the other side of the
globe, where a familiar face would become the source of inspiration. The
Moon, floating in the vast endlessness of space was the guiding artistic
force. Reconnecting Meetsysteem with their remarkable lyrical poetry,
ambiguous messages combined with a subtle hidden darkness. Meetsystem
regained their rare ability to create a vacuum to float in, just like the
moon looming above us. The journey ignited a curiosity to question what
forces act upon us keeping us in place and what is really on the other side?
Along the way answers were found together with the people who crossed paths
with Meetsysteem; like-minded artists who were simultaneously grappling with
the same questions. Through their collective reflections this "would
be" solo record turned into a powerhouse of musical collaboration. With
poetry by Pelumi Adejumo, existential outcries by punk-activist Sophie
Straat, metaphysical lyrics by Lewsberg's Arie van Vliet, weighted vocals by
Ranie Ribeiro and Nana Adjoa, a meeting with Giant Julie and a wealth of
extra hidden features, from voice memos to trumpet solos: the album became a
collage of life--making it the freest, darkest, and most complete Meetsysteem
album to date |

Color vinyl. Gatefold. The
hard-hitting album from Sweden's masters of punk-infused rock 'n' roll, back
on vinyl for the first time since its debut in 2006! Featuring explosive
anthems like "I Got Spades" and "Blitzkrieg Loveshock," as
well as the melodic punch of fan favorites like "Dysfunctional
Professional." A defining record of mid-2000s Scandinavian rock, this
album captures the Backyard Babies' raw energy and relentless drive,
cementing their legacy as pioneers of modern rock |

Berlin-based
French-Irish multimedia artist Zoe Mc Pherson levels up on their third
full-length "Pitch Blender", mangling years of experience DJing and
performing live into a tight set of cybernetic soundsystem experiments that
flicker between the rave and the art space. Cast your mind back to February
2020 for a moment, when Mc Pherson released their last album "States of
Fugue". The world seemed less tangled somehow, and yet Mc Pherson's
precision-engineered fusion of exploratory sound design and visceral club
pressure seemed to hint at a cataclysmic event none of us were really
expecting. Only a few weeks after its release the world changed forever, and
the majority of us were grounded - forced to consider our lives and the movement
(or lack thereof) surrounding us. The philosophy of this extended time period
is welded into the bones of "Pitch Blender", Mc Pherson's supple
third album. They have learned plenty in the last two years, and infuse all
of that anxiety and spiky emotionality into a spread of tracks that sound as
powerful in headphones as they do over a well-tweaked soundsystem, soldering
vocals, environmental recordings and instrumental flourishes to unpredictably
pneumatic, cybernetic beats. Anyone that's caught one of Mc Pherson's
energetic live performances over the last few months will have an idea of
what "Pitch Blender" is made of. They're an artist who's somehow
able to match the raw energy of post-punk and no-wave music with the
brain-altering potential of the best experimental club tracks, vocalizing an
incongruous post-lockdown reality over beats that sound as if they're in a
permanent state of flux. 'On Fire' splutters to life in a frenetic patter of
drums that blur into oddly soothing hoover sounds, snaking lysergically
towards a drop that's teased constantly, and never comes. We're forced to
wait until 'The Spark' for that, fighting through choppy, pitch-mangled
guitar and rolling beats until a gruesome kick drum forces its way through
the psilocybin mists and heaving Bristol-inspired bass clonks. Backed up with
just the inverted traces of recognizable breaks, this vigorous pulse lies at
the heart of "Pitch Blender", the driving force that powers Mc
Pherson's sound even when it's only hinted at. 'Blender' is the moment where
Mc Pherson show their full hand, using crackling sound effects, ghost vocals
and uneven rhythms to build a textural landscape that's so evocative you can
almost taste it. Squealing modular synth effects sound like gameshow buzzers
being triggered in another dimension and propel the track forward - it's club
music, just about, but Mc Pherson's motivation is world-building, and their
world is colorful, abstract, and dizzyingly surreal. "Obsolete
user," their voice echoes over driving airlock kicks. But they take a
swift left turn with 'Lamella', reducing the kinetic club rhythms to a
longing simmer and letting loose with powerful vocals, intoning with robotic,
gender-fluxed intensity. On 'Wait', New York City's clacking crosswalk signal
- already an effective club track on its own - is transformed into a reminder
to slow down, juxtaposed with booming sub-heavy kicks, acidic synths and
effervescent percussion that rattles in time with the vibrations. It's foley
rave, built for pure psychedelic intensity to blur the line between real life
and sonic fiction. One of the album's most galvanic tracks, 'Power Dynamics'
curves a double-time rhythm around breathless HQ sound design squiggles until
it hits a polyrhythmic crescendo, striking a queasy balance between rave
hedonism and ritualistic hand drum energy. It all builds towards eerie
closing track 'Outside' that acts as an important wind down, spotlighting Mc
Pherson's ability to operate outside of the rhythmic spectrum, using
cinematic scrapes and flickering neon synths to create music that's tense but
never terrifying |

After
releasing four albums under his Sonny Ism alias, the Melbourne
singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer and mix engineer Xavier
Bacash flips the script and starts again with the debut album 'Into The
Doldrums' from his new project, Now Always Fades, due for release through his
Northern Underground Records label. Recorded in the wake of returning to
Australia with his family after spending seven years in Copenhagen and
Stockholm, Into The Doldrums sees Bacash building on the beautifully melancholic
downtempo, deep house, and synth-pop sensibilities he's explored as Sonny
Ism. Inspired by The Durutti Column, Massive Attack, and Everything But The
Girl, the album sees him painting shades of post-punk, ethereal pop, trip-hop
and street soul into nine aesthetically consistent songs. From the early
morning ambience of 'Into The Doldrums' to the heaving breakbeat soul of
'Close To Greatness' and the sundown strut of 'A Pain I Used To Feel', Into
The Doldrums unfolds with the logic of a hazy, sunkissed daydream. Although
Bacash has served as the primary voice on his Sonny Ism albums in the past,
this time around, he opened things up, inviting fellow Melbourne-based
vocalists Lili Hall, previously from the experimental group Squaring Circles
and Tilly Vickers-Willis, to join him in his process across most of the
record. "The creative rationale of NAF has been to create an opportunity
for me to investigate where my songwriting can go whilst collaborating with
other vocalists and learning from their process too," he says.
"It's opened up new possibilities and realms of artistic creation which
I couldn't reach with my own vocals, whether we're that's lyrically, tonally
or in regards to inflections in vocal delivery. Its also quite Darwinian as a
process because, sometimes as an artist you can write a song that you love,
but at times be forced to sing on it yourself because its for your output,
but really it would suit someone else's voice better". Through recording
Now Always Fades, Bacash unlocked the template for what he sees as the next
stage in his musical journey. "I like the idea that in the future,
although I might be the common denominator as the artist, I can keep working
with a changing landscape of vocalists to keep the listener guessing as they
work through the music - kind of like how a director approaches their
films," he explains |

Two IDM icons, Roel Funcken and
exm come together on Science Cult for an LP that is nothing short of alchemy.
Flyphel feels like a living, breathing entity ? an intricate fusion of sound
that shifts between the mechanical and the organic. Each track unfolds like a
story told in textures and tones, with Funcken?s razor-sharp precision
meeting exm?s ethereal abstractions. You're not just invite you to listen,
you're pulled into its world, where every detail reveals something new on
repeat visits. This stunning release arrives as a 2x12'' LP encased in a
beautifully printed outer jacket with matching inner sleeves featuring
paintings by Roel Funcken, making this as much a visual statement as an
auditory one. With their combined expertise in sound design and their shared
commitment to pushing boundaries, Roel Funcken and exm have created something
that feels both timeless and ahead of its time |

Now here's an absolute romp from LNS & DJ Sotofett. This has
big room appeal, but not in a commercial way - think big massive warehouse
space where dancers clench teeth when a monumental bassline finally kicks in.
Static beats leave all modulation to gritty fist pumping stabs, and a
breakdown with filtered halftime arpeggio only breaks ice with a proper drob
followed by ''club wonderland'' type pads. B-Side's ''Buzzy Breaker'' by DJ
Sotofett is polyrhythmic Techno that for its first half consists of a kick,
stab and dubs only. Passing the tracks waist it fully transforms into big
system Breakbeat with incoming pads sounding like a harmonic locomotive
rushing by juxtaposed bars. After a junglized breakdown all elements are
bombastically sown together manifesting the repetitive elements of both A
& B Side cuts as simply deep and deadly. THIS 12'' IS CUT WITH LOUD
VOLUME FOR EXCELLENT CLUB USE! |

ANORAX sticks to its’ #eatsleepmantra with the reissue of the
perennially in demand TIGHTEN UP by Melbourne soul disciples THE BAMBOOS. The
track - a catchy as you like instrumental slant on Archie Bell & The
Drells USA #1 million selling smash from 1968 - was originally released in
2006 on Kenny Dope and Keb Darge’s KAY-DEE label. It immediately became a
favourite in Soul & Acid Jazz circles, and it’s’ popularity rapidly
spread across all dance genres, THE BAMBOOS main man LANCE FERGUSON showed
genius by ditching the idea of vocals and lyrics in a composition hailed by
Rolling Stones magazine “as one of the greatest songs of all time” and
instead coming up with the quirky irresistible instrumental we all love.
Funky flute anyone? The Kay Dee 45 was reissued some years ago but enduring

As
electronic music pioneers and co-founders of Soma Records, Slam have
continually shaped the landscape of underground techno. With their
forthcoming album, Dark Channel, they present a raw, club-focused record that
stands as both a reflection of our turbulent times and a celebration of the
dance floor's enduring power. In 2025, the world feels fractured, dominated
by division and extremism. Amidst this chaos, the dance floor remains a rare
sanctuary-one of unity, self-expression, and collective escape. Dark Channel
is an unapologetic tribute to this sacred space, where rhythm dissolves
barriers and music serves as a universal language. Through relentless energy,
deep textures, and hypnotic grooves, the album embodies the essence of club
culture: a place where we reconnect with ourselves and each other. Slam make
no mistake when it comes to the sonic tone of the album as it opens with the
tribalistic Use It, Lose It before the discordant sounds of title track Dark
Channel hints at the relentless nature of things to come. The intensity
continues with Parametric Factor & Glide - both pushing a pulsating,
synth driven trip; the later leading on a more traditional Slam percussive
workout. The dance floor warping Morganatic pursues dark territory while
Infinit Spaces adds trippy FX to an already animated synth hook. The
beautifully crafted Kuture Version delves into a more immersive sound as more
direct, chord driven elements take the lead. The pace quickens yet again with
Ghost Dancer highlighting sub tones whilst still crafting ominous intonations
with its modulating FX. Approaching the conclusion, the ferocious Beat On The
Drum delivers a lesson in rhythm and energy before the contorted Irregular
Object completes proceedings in a suitably hypnotic fashion. Mastered By

Samurai
Music returns to the evocative sound world of Ancestral Voices for an album
that splits the difference between cinematic sound design and deadly
restraint at 170 BPM. Nemeton continues Liam Blackburn's exploration of
ancient Celtic mysticism through snaking rhythms and snarling sound design,
conjuring a high-definition sonic image of sacred groves and the druids
practicing amongst them. Blackburn's Ancestral Voices project tracks back to
2015, when he debuted on Samurai Horo with the Night Of Visions album. In
stark contrast to his celebrated 140 work as Indigo, this project leaned on
the inspiration of pagan spirituality to charge his vivid, advanced
production style with a rich and mysterious atmosphere. While he's channelled
this approach into a variety of tempos and styles, on his 2016 EP Old Earth
Voodoo on Samurai Music he applied the concept to a drum & bass
framework, which he returns to on Nemeton with rigorous focus. Far from a
straightforward collection of breakbeat tracks, Blackburn uses negative space
and pointillist production to carve out an immersive, tense sound world
around the 170 grid. He takes a widescreen approach to percussion, running
from pin-prick synthesised one-shots to tumbling, organic drums you'd more
readily associate with a Hans Zimmer score. Scene-building is the foremost
mission across Nemeton, casting otherworldly forces in sweeps of low-end
friction and dramatic melodic blooms amidst tangible real-world field
recordings of flora and fauna. Casting the mind back some 2000 years is an
exercise in imagination as much as research, and Blackburn ably summons dark
fantasy as he delves ever deeper into Welsh mythology with a studious zeal
and avid fascination. It's that drive that makes Nemeton burst forth and take
shape so powerfully, bristling with kinetic energy and a barely-concealed,
strangely seductive menace that leaves a lasting impression long after the
last snatch of bass has bared its teeth |

A1
- Planet Genesis: Chronicle makes his Spatial debut in style with Planet
Genesis, opening with a beautifully crisp 2-step break over light atmospheric
padwork, quickly accompanied by Hot Pants snares and dancing strings.
Graceful hi-hats and insanely subtle vocal usage ebb and flow in the mix
while soothing melodies enter and depart at will. The breakdown offers an
intense change of tone before the breaks resume and continue the journey to a
destination unknown. A2 - Crystal Clear: Very much living up to its title,
Crystal Clear sees Chronicle deliver a finely tuned assortment of beats with
a remarkable clarity that truly shines in the "old school brand
new" sensibilities of throwback atmospheric drum & bass. Snippets of
various classic breaks can be heard in the mix with a superb attention to
detail, taking you back with a style quite reminiscent of the golden era of
late 90's Logical Progression. AA1 - Libra: Airy pads and a rousing yet
subtle melody delicately introduce Libra, as Chronicle gradually builds
towards a thrilling yet thoughtful amen workout set to blissful atmospherics.
With a plethora of exquisite production techniques on show, the track
showcases the versatility of Chronicle, offering something new to enjoy on
each listen - the layers of detail are truly impressive. AA2 - Higher Limits:
Echoing whirs and clicks dance playfully around light pads in the unique
DJ-friendly intro to Higher Limits, a detailed, joyful track which celebrates
a bygone era with sharp, expertly edited breaks and a smooth 808 bassline to
die for. Micro melodies and long waves of delicious synths add texture and
depth to the mix, resulting in the perfect closing track to a superbly varied
and elegantly produced debut EP. Words by Chris Hayes (Spatial / Red Mist) |

NOW
Music is proud to present the 7th and final edition in our 80s Dancefloor 2LP
vinyl series, NOW That’s What I Call 80s Dancefloor: FLOORFILLERS – Out March
28th! This stunning 30-track 2LP, pressed on transparent blue and green vinyl
showcases tracks that were dancefloor essentials toward the end of the
decade. Often fusing genres including, disco, funk, soul, pop, hip-hop and
electronic soundscapes to produce huge club anthems - some that took
inspiration from the past and some that pointed toward the upcoming new
decade… LP1 opens with the peerless house classic ‘Good Life’ by Inner City,
followed by Kym Mazelle and Robert Howard’s iconic ‘Wait’ and ‘People Hold
On’ from Coldcut featuring Lisa Stansfield on her chart debut. M/A/R/R/S hit
#1 with a ‘Pump Up The Volume’ a milestone in both UK house and also for the
evolution of sampling. Bomb The Bass
brings the huge sound of ‘Beat Dis’, and S’Express hit the top of the charts
and made a timeless dance-floor-filler with ‘Theme from S-Express’. Rob ‘n’
Raz featuring Leila K. and Technotronic close Side A with their respective
dance-party classics. Side B opens with two disco classics remixed for the
late ‘80s dancefloor - CHIC’s ‘Jack Le Freak’ and Chaka Khan with a remix of
‘I’m Every Woman’. Pure pop turns into dancefloor magic with a these PWL
mixes, as Jakie Quartz’s ‘A La Vie A L'Amour’, followed by the remix of
‘Everlasting Love’ by Sandra, and Bananrama’s ‘I Want You Back’ filled
dance-floors across Europe. Samantha Fox had a big dance track with ‘Love
House’, and the final track on LP1 is ‘Waltz Darling’ by Malcolm McLaren
& The Bootzilla Orchestra, celebrating the New York ball culture and it’s
vogueing scene. LP2 kicks off with the hugely influential ‘Back To Life’ from
UK pioneers Soul II Soul featuring Caron Wheeler, followed by Ten City’s
soulful smash ‘That’s The Way Love Is’, and Bobby Brown with his massive
dance-floor hit ‘Every Little Step’. The rest of Side A features different
hip-hop styles - Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam with Full Force with their freestyle
hit ‘I Wonder If I Take You Home’, a hugely successful fusion of beats, rap
and melody from Neneh Cherry with
‘Buffalo Stance’, Salt-N-Pepa’s global
smash ‘Push It’ comes next, ahead of UK hip-hop and house fusion from The
Beatmasters featuring The Cookie Crew’ with ‘Rok Da House’ and Wee Papa Girl
Rappers’ collision of rap and dancehall with ‘Wee Rule’ that closes the side.
The final side begins with the ultimate feel-good dance-floor filler, the #1
‘The Only Way Is Up’ by Yazz & The Plastic Population, followed by
Krush’s anthem ‘House Arrest’. Up next, two older tracks that get the late
‘80s remix treatment: DJ Ben Liebrand remixed ‘The Eve Of The War’ by Jeff
Wayne featuring Richard Burton to renewed chart success and the biggest
selling 12” single of all time ‘Blue Monday’ from New Order was remixed by
Quincey Jones as ‘Blue Monday ‘88’ and was a massive dance track once again!
The final three tracks on the collection fittingly come at the end of the
decade and lead into the ‘90s as dance music continued to invent… The Stone
Roses’ ‘Fools Gold’ features the psychedelic funk that would be a key
ingredient in the burgeoning ‘baggy’ scene, and as house music evolved into
multiple strands including acid house and ambient house, the closing
essentials from 808 State and The Beloved would both become influential
tracks that were also inspired and influenced by Ibiza’s Balearic house, and
are a perfect conclusion to this collection of 80s dance-floor classics! |

NYC experimental solo artist OHYUNG explores their own gender transition with
arresting new album of trip-hop laced, rave-inspired electronic songwriting
You Are Always On My Mind. Lia Ouyang Rusli describes their new album as
OHYUNG as “my trans self and my former self in conversation, from both
perspectives.” The record represents their lengthy, complicated, but crucial
journey between lives, strewn with both doubt and excitement. It is an
ecstatic, pop-oriented shift in direction from an artist primarily known for
noise, experimental hip-hop, and ambient music, but carried with sleek
confidence, maturity, and a silvery, hallucinogenic shimmer that reveals
Rusli’s experimental background. It is, writes Rusli, “sometimes written from
a dark place and other times from a place of happiness.” Throughout, darkness
and light rise and fall in layers of phased strings, trip-hop drum
production, and earworming vocal lines. Also a film score composer, Rusli’s
songwriting craft is meticulous and nuanced. You Are Always On My Mind was,
perhaps surprisingly, formed primarily from processed “generic string loops”
found in online sample packs - a strange and wilfully jarring reminder that
what seems to be is not always what is. Recontextualised, these string loops
enshadow the simplicity of their origins and reveal a grace and
purposefulness perhaps not even imagined by their authors, subtly drawing out
euphoria and tension in equal balance. Rusli also writes of the influence of
rave culture central to their transition, and of the record’s production and
theme. “It’s a declaration of love for raves and the dark hazy rooms that
helped me to be free and true with myself— seeing other people who are so
free and beautiful and thinking that one day that can be me— that’s me in the
future.” But there is also a fear and unease present. Key moment “no good”
explores “the worst version of myself as a trans person, feeding doubt to my
pre-transition self” with its core lyric anyone can see / I’m no good for
you, delivered over a relentless beat, swooning strings, and glistening
synthesis. Later, “i swear that i could die rn” renders a Spectreish Motown
beat lamenting and lush with breathy synths and knife-edge melodies that
eventually yield a hazy, gliding string section, created again from mutated,
spliced, and transitioned royalty-free sample packs. The track is about
“seeing my beautiful friends at raves and feeling at home appreciating the
harsh noises of hardcore techno and acid. Feeling that I could die at this
moment and be happy.” OHYUNG is Lia Ouyang Rusli’s alter ego and solo
project. They are an Asian American musician and artist based in Brooklyn.
Their first album Untitled (Chinese Man with Flame) was released by Deathbomb
Arc. In 2020, OHYUNG released their sophomore album PROTECTOR (Chinabot), an
experimental rap cross-genre collision through distorted 808s, pitch-shifted
rapping, frenetic pop energy, and ambient loops. In 2022 OHYUNG released
their collection of ambient soundscapes on NNA Tapes titled imagine naked!
and was described by The Quietus as a “masterful selection of muscular,
shuddering, trembling ambient excursions” and was hailed by NPR as one of the
best 50 albums of 2022. As a film composer, formerly known as Robert Ouyang
Rusli, they have scored A24's Problemista and HBO's Fantasmas by Julio
Torres, Neo Sora’s Happyend (2024 Venice International Film Festival), and
the Gotham Award and Independent Spirit nominated films Bruiser on Hulu and
Shatara Mitchell Ford’s Test Pattern. They also scored short films Bambirak
and Rest Stop which won Jury Awards for International Fiction and US Fiction
at Sundance. You Are Always On My Mind is a worldwide co-release between
Brooklyn’s NNA Tapes and the UK’s Phantom Limb |

After
a strong first release on Fuse Imprint with 'The Wall', resident Phara
returns to his home base for a mirage of introspective tracks. Furthering his
research of emotive club music, 'Soft Glow, Fierce Light' seems more than
appropriately named. Shimmering melodies, swinging rhythms, and a comforting
ambiance, Phara proves that his constantly evolving musical persona and
relationship with the Brussels club are built to last. Beginning with
'Unfold', the Belgium-native sets the board with a warm introduction.
Reminiscent of his recent endeavor as In Glass, a balance is struck between
the slower tempo dub techno of his secondary alias and the higher club energy
that he's been known to bring as Phara. Steady at first, filters open wide
half way through the track to ensure maximum euphoria off or on the dance
floor. 'Flow' follows in suit and here the producer keeps the level constant
and tense with intricate melodic design. A steady groove with blossoming
synth lines make 'Flow' a beauty to witness unravel. Warm chord stabs make
for a nostalgic EP and shows once more that the seasoned producer frequently
enjoys prioritizing emotion over drive. Flipping the vinyl to the other side,
'Wave to Wave' points a finger to all things dub, even a discrete appreciation
of house music, through the harmony of his keys to the sound design of his
square bass, and its common borders with techno. Juggling in snare rolls and
rides throughout, Phara sets the tone with a soothing piece of work for
lovers of the eyes-closed genre. To conclude, 'Solitude' brings a polished
vintage effect to the project that 'Wave to Wave' introduced, this time with
heightened intensity worthy of a set closer. Punchy stabs make this a
particularly extraverted track, fitting into almost any record bag - Room 01
or Motion Room friendly. Thundering claps over an electric melody, these
kinds of tracks aren't new to Phara. Pouring soul into his tracks, Phara
proves once again to be a truly central artist in developing the Fuse sound
and continuing his stylistic journey |

Vae Victis is back for its 2nd release and is glad to welcome
the very first debut of Nightjars. With this 4 tracks ep the label shifts on
a different musical path, sound and style wise. Sound wise, both sides are
written, mixed and produced on hardwares and polarized on a ferromagnetic
tape. Technically, side A (Raw Side) is mixed with a tough multitrack mixer
brought to its saturation limit: the sound is indeed distorted, raw and
unfriendly. While the flipside (Clean Side) is instead mixed with a big Class
A vintage studio mixer. The sound is brighter, richer of harmonics and the
infrasounds are charged thru a wide dynamic range. Style wise, the label
shifts on a more broken beat field, let's call it bass, dubstep or whatever,
but anyway something which should put this vinyl in the records bags of all
the lovers of Shed, Peverelist and Horsepower Productions to name a few.

Egyptian Lover has been kicking
out the jams now for a full four decades. His famously hardware-driven sound
is pure bay-popping perfection and has seen him define and redefine electro
many times over. Staying true to his signature 80s west-coast electro sound,
his new album 1987 echos classics of his like 'Egypt, Egypt' and Thebes of
them all, 'I Need a Freak', by blending signature Roland 808 beats with
Kraftwerk and hip-hop influences. He's a veteran at this stage, but he still
moves a floor like few others can |

Priori’s hit EP Pareidolia gets a
well deserved remix treatment. The relation between Priori and Midgar started
early 2023 with the release of his Pareidolia EP, where a remix for Keplrr
followed quickly the year after. Now, early 2025, a group of close friends
and admired artists were invited to rework the Pareidolia’s originals. Midgar
affiliate Forest Drive West uses the opportunity to present not one but two
remixes. Presenting one half-time 85 bpm twist of Hazard and another
slow-paced murky techno groover. Originally from Montreal, Maara forms the
Canadian connection and she turns Memory Palace into a beautiful bouncy
dub-techno floater. Sound experimentalist Notte Infinita takes his turn on
Pareidolia’s title track and creates some magnificent eyes-closed drum &
bass hypnotism. At last, Amsterdam’s upsammy brings back the light with her
iconic playful approach. She flips the steady groove of Glass Shards into a
jumpy interplay of rhythms and joy |

"Dylan
Hayes' album debut LP, We Don't Own, We Create, released on Futurepast, is a
sonic trip balancing club functionality with experimentation. The two-discs
project is a bold statement of artistic intent-where minimalism, industrial
textures, and introspective loopy moods collide. As the result of 8 years of
research and experimentation, We Don't Own, We Create is an electronic sci-fi
odyssey, unfolding across eight tracks balancing structure with
unpredictability. Co-produced and mixed by Davy Vandegaer, this album is also
the story of a friendship rooted in a shared vision-crafting a signature
'futurepast' sound where old-school techno aesthetics meet fresh, yet edgy,
sonic treatments. The first disc unfolds like a waking dream. My Ikigai sets
the tone with pulsating, introspective club energy, blending loopy synths and
a growling bass. Plastic World plunges into eerie depths, weaving spectral
vocals and fragmented rhythms. Silent Reverie in To Memory drifts through
textured atmospheres and layered percussive echoes. Remind Me Ridley twists
hypnotic techno into a dense, mantra-like piece-its reverbs and delays build
an intensity conjuring into a foggy, shifting auditive illusion. The second
disc marks the awakening, shaking off the haze with Beautiful Struggle, where
abrasive loops, industrial bass surges, and dissonant synth layers build
tension. Echoes of Fate condenses the album's ethos, unleashing pulsating
stabs and humming rhythms that slice through the mix with razor-sharp
precision. The eponymous We Don't Own, We Create is an electronic ode to the
creative process, where haunting vocal loops weave through deep, trippy synth
lines, blurring the boundaries between organic and synthetic. Closing on
Mizze, the journey dissolves into pure introspection, fading into the ether.
The record balances four club-driven tracks and four experimental pieces,
crafting a distorted, explorative soundscape-an immersive journey where dance
music meets dark, avant-garde sound design." |

KR3.016:
Steve Bicknell returns to KR3, once again unleashing his mastery of power
electronics! Following his two reinterpretations of last year's "JK
Flesh Remixes" and four years after his solo EP "A Day In The
Life" in 2021, Bicknell takes us deep into the realms of his sonic
mysticism, marking a significant milestone in the fifth anniversary of the
label. Several Streams of Thought LP - is an unrelenting and immersive
odyssey, presented through nine tracks, seven of which will be available on a
double 12-inch vinyl, with two exclusive cuts in a limited 7-inch format. The
album hits hard, straight to the brain, with no warning, across sides A, B,
and C. Each side is a raw, untamed techno experience, with Bicknell's
unmistakable signature dominating throughout, delivering unwavering intensity
and relentless impact. However, on side D, a transformation takes place: a
15-minute soundscape that turns the embedded waves into breath - a blinding
light emerging from the darkness. It's a moment of tribalism and evocative
magic, offering a refreshing pause, a return to balance after the intensity
of the shadows. The 7-inch, available in a limited edition under the title
"the eye of the invisible world", contains two tracks - one on side
E and the other on side F. The mystical sounds complete this dual experience:
one part filled with dark, untamed energy, while the other brings a sense of
mental lightness, emphasizing breathwork and emotional self-healing. S | B is
back, stronger than ever! |
