Quartet
Records, in collaboration with Carosello Edizioni Musicali, presents a
definitive, expanded 2-LP edition of Ennio Morricone's celebrated score for
1971 Italian thriller GIORNATA NERA PER L'ARIETE (aka THE FIFTH CORD),
directed by Luigi Bazzoni and starring Franco Nero, Silvia Monti, Ira Von
Fürstenbergm Edmund Purdon, Pamela Tiffin and Agostina Belli. Morricone's
thriller scores remain some of his most distinctive and original works. As
demonstrated in his scores for Dario Argento's efforts in the genre,
Morricone's uncanny ability to combine lyricism, unbridled avant-garde
experimentation and stylish elegance was his most significant contribution to
the category. GIORNATA NERA PER L'ARIETE shows Morricone once again embracing
the sophisticated avant-garde sound while beginning his score with a haunting
tune performed by Edda Dell'Orso heard over the film's main titles. The
lullaby-like theme has a timeless quality, providing a disturbing and
disarming melody for the film. As with many of his giallos, Ennio Morricone's
score for GIORNATA NERA PER L'ARIETE was never released on an album (only the
main theme was included in the Morricone compilation album COLORI in 1971).
In 1996, under the composer's supervision, the Point label released the first
official album of the score on CD. The first vinyl edition was released by
Dagored on a generous LP in 2001. It was subsequently released by Spettro in
2016, this time using the same program that Morricone had produced in 1996.
For this new deluxe, 2-LP Quartet release, the music has been fully restored,
remixed and edited by Daniel Winkler from the original session tapes,
presenting the first vinyl edition of the complete score as Morricone
conceived it for the film. It has been specially mastered for vinyl by Chris
Malone, and is presented in a luxurious gatefold jacket printed in
transparent bloody red and giallo splatter |

Dublin's Ginnels return after 10

Island collective which made the Irish music scene of the early 10s so

Stylistically,
the band's roots in more traditionally street-punk and hardcore acts like
Ataque Zero and Trampa are apparent from the get go, but tracks like
"Fracaso Molecular" draw upon west coast death rock and early UK
peace punk. Hell, even the guitar solos crammed into the bridges of tracks
like "Hoy" speak to this hybridized heritage, connoting d-beat,
crossover thrash, and first wave goth rock. Without ever letting the pace
drop, 1186 find ways of carrying the mood and gothic atmospherics of
deathrock through each of these territories. Like the earliest records by
Belgrado and Spectres, Histeria does a fantastic job of zeroing in on what
makes deathrock different from either original punk or pure goth, and makes
that sense of swaggering doom its focus. But despite its real affinity for
the roots of the genre, it never feels like a joyless exercise in
neo-traditionalism, and its omnivorous approach to other genres and
traditions emerges as one of the most invigorating and refreshing dark rock
records you'll hear this year |

Who
is Beatrice? Who is Melissa? Could they be one and the same? This is the
question at the heart of Secret, the duo’s debut album—or at least, that’s
what the music seems to suggest. If sound is an extension of ourselves, it
can also become a character we shape. The main character of Secret isn’t
visible to the human eye, and yet they give off an androgynous and timeless
energy, rooted in multiple languages and spaces. As the album unfolds, we
sense the fusion of two distinct energies combined into a single, composite
being. This constantly shifting, blurred identity comes to life in the
album’s profusion of genres: club music, ambient, chanson, trip-hop, UK
garage, and tech house. The tracks stretch and contract, following the
trajectory of a dual voice. Behind Secret lies a mélange of perspectives.
Beatrice M., a Franco-British artist at the head of the label Bait, curates
an innovative blend of syncopated UK club styles (mostly dubstep) and trancy
techno grooves. Melissa Weikart, a French-American songwriter trained in
classical piano with a deep passion for jazz, makes intimate avant-pop songs
that embody her unique, hybrid approach to music-making. The diverse musical
collaborations in Secret reinforce a dynamic that is central to both of their
artistic journeys from the start, and these collaborations melt seamlessly
into the album’s overall aesthetic. Despite a confluence of influences, the
implied development of this obscure, extraterrestrial main character grounds
us in a refreshing coherence. Secret is rich in variety and style, but above

Siniestro Total were a Spanish
punk band formed in Vigo in 1981. Their debut LP "¿Cuándo se come
aquí?" (DRO 1982) is regarded as one of the best Spanish albums from
that era. "Acto Fundacional" is the recording of their first ever
gig in December 1981. It comprises original songs and versions that would
also become the band's live repertoire in their early years. Four songs

know and love Aural Imbalance for, Tidal Realm slowly reveals its welcoming
arc with filtered breakbeats and a captivating off-beat string melody before

listening pleasure. Further melodic charm is added as the soothing ambient
backdrops rise like a calming mist, blanketing the scene in style. A2 - Tears
Of An Angel: Subdued breaks sleepily laze during the intro to Tears Of An
Angel, gently roused to movement by a sombre backdrop of delicate pads and
high pitched ambient textures. Once in full swing, the old-school breakbeats
nestle perfectly over a deep, earthy 808 bassline while the atmosphere
develops continually through a melodic, ethereal landscape crafted with a
trademark understated panache. AA1 - Surface Area: Readying for the
unexpected, a suitably eerie ambient intro to Surface Area sees Aural
Imbalance flex his versatility once more as a stunningly crafted break
pattern suddenly takes center stage and immediately whisks the listener on a
journey to lands afar. Micro melodies and inimitable pads add depth but make
no mistake - these breaks are sublime, and will inspire both the listener and
the dancefloor in equal measure. AA2 - Warm Embrace: Closing out the EP we
have Warm Embrace, which opens with the sounds of playful fireflies in the
twilight, emitting their soft glow through the washes of inexplicably radiant
FX. Old school breaks soon enter the mix, constructed with aplomb over a bed

he writes. Gradually is his exploration of shapelessness--an urge to break
free from rigid musical genres and get closer to his most fundamental
expression. The album is composed of nine tracks, each representing a
distinct cultural and linguistic influence, all tied together by the theme of
gradual evolution. The first section, Ciel, Soleil, and Espace (French for
Sky, Sun, and Space), draws on Mier's French heritage, evoking the feeling of
childhood memories bathed in a warm, nostalgic glow. This fluid, atmospheric
section mirrors the soft, ever-changing air, symbolising a time of pure,
untainted intention. It feels like a hazy, sepia-toned dream, as fleeting and
elusive as the scent of an old friend. The gentle flow of the music mirrors
the flow of wind, effortlessly shifting from one element to the next, a
reflection of the innocence and clarity of youth. The second section, Steen,
Zee, and Zand (Dutch for Stone, Sea, and Sand), channels the influence of
Mier's childhood in a small Dutch dune village. These tracks are grounded in
the hard-edged textures of electronic dance music, a genre that introduced
him to a world of rhythm and movement. With a sonic palette of blues, greys,
and more defined shapes, this section captures the solid, enduring forces of
nature--earth, water, and stone. It's a sonic landscape rooted in stability,
a foundation from which everything can grow. The tracks build from the
fluidity of the first section into more structured, rhythmic territories,
mirroring the natural transition from childhood innocence to the discovery of
deeper, more grounded musical influences. The final section, Scrap (a
collaborative track with the Japanese producer Daisuke Tanabe), Soil, and Spark,
dives into the exploration of the world beyond familiar borders. Mier's
relocation from the Netherlands to Australia in 2016 is reflected in these
pieces, which grapple with the contrast and complexity of different cultures
and environments. These tracks are tinged with rust-red hues and a sense of
eroded beauty, evoking a more fragmented, distorted view of the world. The
music here is marked by tension, conflict, and the erosion of once-solid
forms--symbolic of the digital and ecological storms that shape our modern
existence. The closing piece, Spark, signals a new beginning, a hopeful

female jazz outfit Jazz In Pink she came up with the idea of paying homage to
and reinventing EXPANSIONS. “I decide to cover one of his many compositions
and EXPANSIONS spoke to my spirit. As a smooth jazz artist I was able to slow
the tempo down and reharmonise some of the chord voicings and play his vocal
melodies as a piano lead. The bass line is infectious and carries the groove,

Hotflush launches a new line of
special projects, in conjunction with a special guest A&R - London-based
DJ and production specialist Otik. The first project in this series is an
extended-play by an emerging star of the European techno scene, Endrew. The
Berlin-based Italian has broken through in recent months following a debut
release on Shed's Upfront Copy label. This is his most extensive contribution
to date. Seven original tracks covering a wide range of ground within the
techno space are augmented by a remix from Otik himself. Standout track
Redemption Dream melds breakbeat sensibility with techno and a hint of DnB,

"Kamikaze
Dub" by Prince Jammy is undoubtedly one of the most beloved albums by
dub music lovers and a record to have in every self-respecting record
collection. An album for any time of the day, or season, that never bores and
indeed has aged very well always amazes and stimulates. Re-released for
JAMDUNG distributed exclusively by KUDOS in limited edition LP from the
original master tapes is available again at an affordable price, but hurry!
Jamaican Dub music first appeared in the mid-70s under the guidance of the
creative master mind, King Tubby. By the late 70s, two of his top co-workers,
Scientist and Prince Jammy were ready to branch out on their own, and they
did. Jammy's record came out first and that's why "Kamikaze Dub" (1979)
is often cited as the album that raised the bar for good. After its release,
many Jamaican producers aspired to create the same swirling psychedelic
minimal sound that Jammy presented on these near perfect tracks. The
musicianship on here is outstanding as well, with other Dub stars taking part
such as Sly and Robbie on drums and bass, Augustus Pablo on keyboards,
'Deadly' Headley Bennett and Bobby Ellis on horns, as well as many others.
