"Berlin. A Portrait In Music" album on Soma receives a string of
remixes from Setaoc Mass, Stanislav Tolkachev, Conforce, as well as a VIP mix
from SLV himself. Hailing from Berlin, SLV is well respected for his
melancholic sound design and crystalline soundscapes having released on
labels like Ilario Alicante's Virgo and Slam's Soma. Following the release of
SLV's ambient "Berlin. A Portrait In Music" album, Slam's iconic
label has invited a powerful selection of techno producers to reimagine a
handful of tracks; Figure, Clergy and Work Them Records producer Setaoc Mass;
Ukraine's master of mind-bending techno, Stanislav Tolkachev; and also Delsin
regular Conforce. "Dust" by SK_Eleven founder Setaoc Mass brings
melodic flare with enveloping synths above dark rumbling lows, before SLV's
injects some energy into "Talking With The Shadows" with his own
Rave Mix, incorporating moody tones and slow flowing arps with dark cavernous
reverb. Krill and Mord artist Stanislav Tolkachev then offers a steady beat
with euphoric chimes and vinyl hiss for his stripped back "First Day In
The City", preceding Dutch artist Conforce's "Forest Voices"
which balances unearthly sound design and a steppy drum pattern |

Records is proud to present the limited vinyl edition of the new score by
acclaimed composer Fatima Al Qadiri (ATLANTICS) for the psychological
thriller-horror film by Paco Plaza, LA ABUELA (The Grandmother). In the film,
a Paris model must return to Madrid where her grandmother, who had brought
her up, just had a stroke. But spending just a few days with her relative
turns into an unexpected nightmare. Al Qadiri's impressive musical journey to
the dark side, immersing the story with a subtle electronic design, is as
haunting as the inner voices of the characters. In a labyrinth of chaos and
tension, the music is as unpredictable as the protagonist's distinctiveness.
Fatima Al Qadiri is a Kuwaiti composer and multi-disciplinary artist based in
Los Angeles. In 2019, Al Qadiri scored the debut feature film by Mati Diop,
ATLANTICS, which won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival while Al
Qadiri received a César nomination for Best Original Score. In the first half
of 2021, Fatima released her third album, "Medieval Femme,"
inspired by the state of melancholic longing epitomized in the classical
poems of Arab women. She follows this with her second film score, LA ABUELA
by acclaimed Spanish horror director Paco Plaza, an elevation of her
signature style of minimal electronic music punctuated by haunted vocals.
Fatima's discography includes three solo albums on Hyperdub, four EPs, and an
album as a member of the group Future Brown on Warp. LA ABUELA has been
nominated for a Spanish Goya Award in the category of Best Original Score.
This audiophile LP edition has been pressed in ultra clean transparent vinyl,

Now
here's a real slice of East Coast hip-hop history, packaged for those
Londonites who - even as far back as the early to mid 90s - felt the genre's
magnanimous influence deeply, despite the transatlantic journey required of
its promotion outside the USA. Existing only so far perhaps on bootlegged
white label vinyl marked "Import" in big block lettering, this
mythical live recording of The Notorious B.I.G.'s 1995 performance at the
Hammersmith Palais in London (as part of Tim Westwood's 1FM Rap Show Launch
Party) otherwise floats the interwebs either in casual YouTube video or
cassette rip format. Clocking in at just over 50 minutes, Big Poppa's tragic
ghost sounds to haunt the record, masterfully moving through his most
hard-boiled, ironed songs in quick sixteen-track succession, chopping and
changing between them through the adeptest of DJ scratchups; the hypiest,
airhorn-blariest transitions. All Biggie's greatest hits feature (he'd
released most of his chart-toppers by 1995; this recording was made two years
before he died) and the heavy douse of reverb, supplied by the venue, lends
an extra historic gravitas to Smalls' not-so-small voice. The acapella at the
end is an especially grave, hushed moment; it's as if the lack of instrumental
backing portends the many moments of silence that would follow two years
later |

Reissue
of the debut album of the band Raíces on black vinyl. Recorded at the TAKE 1
studios in Buenos Aires in the winter of 1978, the album was produced by
Mario Breuer, who has produced albums by the greatest Argentine and Latin
American rock artists of the last half century. The period that began in the
late 70s and continued throughout the following decade was a time of unique
creativity for Argentine rock. Early figures of the movement, such as Luis
Alberto Spinetta and Charly García, gave their careers a new impulse and took
their music in new directions, while a new generation of artists, including
Virus and Los Violadores, incorporated new sounds and satirical and corrosive
lyrics related to the emergence of punk and new wave, which had taken the
international music scene by storm. This renewal had many other nuances, and
in this sense Raíces' proposal should be appreciated in its proper dimension.
In the 21st century, nobody is surprised by the close ties between
Argentinean and Uruguayan musicians on the Río de la Plata and the peculiar
fusion of rock with folklore elements from both countries: candombe, murga,
tango and milonga sound perfectly familiar to rock fans on both sides of the
River Plate, the "lion-coloured river". But every bold proposal has
a beginning, and just as El Kinto, Tótem y Opa in Uruguay and Arco Iris in
Argentina were pioneers in becoming aware of this folkloric heritage, thanks
to visionaries such as Eduardo Mateo, Rubén Rada, the brothers Hugo and Osvaldo
Fattorusso and Gustavo Santaolalla, the band Raíces, founded in 1977 by the
Uruguayan bassist, guitarist, percussionist, composer and singer Luis Alberto
"Beto" Satragni, was fundamental in the expansion of this fusion of
rock and candombe |

with new artwork! Color vinyl. Controversial east coast punk band Agnostic
Front were lynchpins of the New York hardcore scene. Formed in 1982 by former
Eliminators guitarist Vinnie Stigma along with vocalist John Watson, drummer
Rob Crib Crash and bassist Diego, the band went through several other early
members to settle on Vinnie Stigma, bassist Adam Mucci, drummer Raybeez and
Cuban-born singer Roger Miret for these recordings. Often misunderstood in
their early days due largely to their majority skinhead following and the
shock imagery of their record covers, the group carved out its reputation in
the dilapidated Lower East Side of Manhattan, then blighty by poverty, drugs,
violence and high levels of urban decay. The recordings featured on this
incendiary compilation date from the very start of their recording career,
beginning with the demos that led to their debut seven-inch release, the
self-issued "United Blood" EP, bolstered by other recordings from
the period that were left unissued at the time< some of the material
included here later appeared on the Raw And Unleased CD, but several songs
are appearing on vinyl here for the very first time. Agnostic Front went on
to reign supreme on the New York hardcore scene throughout the 1980s and
although later recordings once again saw membership changes that brought a
shift in style to include thrash-metal crossover elements, their longevity
and high standing is such that they were featured on Showtime's "The
Godfathers of Hardcore" documentary, ultimately leading to Roger Miret's
recently released autobiography, My Riot |

Mercenárias is an iconic band in
the history of Brazilian punk and post-punk. They gained global recognition
after being included in several compilations outside Brazil. Recommended for
fans of The Slits, DNA, Malaria!, Kleenex, and Minutemen, the group stood out
for their rebellious attitude, incisive lyrics, and raw sound that blended
punk, post-punk, no wave and experimental elements. This is a compilation of
rare tracks from 1983 to 1987, including 10 amazing songs that didn't make it
onto their two albums; there's also a great early live recording, as well as
a "lost" studio session. It has been remastered from the original
tapes and includes an insert with previously unseen photos and a short text

Dr.Rubinstein returns to the producer's seat with Take This Pill, a new
3-track EP that showcases the dynamic, ever-widening range of her signature
acid sound. Lacing lively dancefloor cuts with a dose of personal
storytelling and a playful yet honest take on mental health, Take This Pill
delivers on Rubi's distinct ability to honor classic rave sensibilities while
also always imparting her own unique twist. The title track journeys from
dark, acid-laced electro breaks into a shimmering wash of euphoric synths,
energized along the way by drumrolls, hoovers, and a vocal refrain repeatedly
voicing the Doctor's prescription: "Take this pill!" More than just
a nod to classic XTC bangers, "Take This Pill" explores the
emotional spectrum of neurodivergence and the pharmaceutical pathways many
embark upon on a quest to "fit in," mirroring the lived experience
of internal struggle giving way to external composure. Things shift up a few
gears on track two, the aptly-titled "No Brainer," a relentlessly
energetic, no-nonsense stomper designed with the soul purpose of making you
move. The track features sidewinding Goa-tinged acid lines swirling through a
hard trance kick scape adorned by with soaring strings and shimmering cymbal
rolls. The EP concludes with a gorgeous, melodic rave-infused cut that shows
a more tender, reflective side of Rubinstein's repertoire. Referencing one of
Rubi's favorite tunes, The KLF's iconic "3 AM Eternal," diaphenous
ambient vocals soar over a melancholic acid ballad that, never to be taken
too seriously, is punctuated by humorous woops and cheeky rave whistles. With
Take This Pill, Dr. Rubinstein invites listeners into her world-one where

Architecture continue their series of sought after 4 track EP releases with
their 7th offering, 'Vivid'. This latest release once again draws heavily on
influences from the jazzier, atmospheric strains of mid to late 90s Drum
& Bass. Putting a contemporary spin on sounds rooted in this golden era
of dance music, this new 4 track collection spans sounds from jazzy
atmospherics to slightly harder edged sonics. Opening track 'Vivid' sets the
mood with atmosphere by the pound. Deep, melancholy keys drowned in reverb
underpin cycling chimes and haunting vocal samples before giving way to a
tearing drum track. 'Waiting' meanwhile is all about layers and texture. Lush
textured vocals marry with atmospheric pads, shimmering arps and flutes
before releasing into punchy, intricately programmed drums. Over on the flip
'After All' is led by a powerful vocal refrain which carries lush pad work
into crashing breakbeats and a bassline that delivers matching energy.

October 2 1958, after over 60 years of colonial rule, Guineans voted
overwhelmingly for their independence, and Guinea was declared a Republic
with Sékou Touré as President. Guinea was the first of West Africa’s
Francophone colonies to gain independence. To free Guinea from its colonial
legacy, president Touré sought to restore dignity to his nation and give
cause for Guineans to take pride in their culture, history and newfound
freedom. To achieve this, he instructed his government to implement new
cultural policies that were intended to revitalise and celebrate indigenous
culture. The focus of these new policies was on music. In 1961, President
Touré launched authenticité, the name of his new cultural policy for Guinea.
One of its first acts was to assemble the best Guinean musicians into a new
state-sponsored orchestras that were tasked with presenting traditional
Guinean music in a new and modern style. All musicians in Guinea’s orchestras
were officially designated as members of the public service. During the years
of Sékou Touré’s presidency (1958 – 1984), the government’s cultural policy
of authenticité was applied strictly to the creative arts. Guinea’s sole
political party, the Parti Démocratique de Guinée exercised complete
authority over artistic production. The scale of the Guinean government’s
commitment and efforts to invigorate its indigenous musical cultures was
unmatched in Africa, and it presented a clear contrast to the minimal
endeavours undertaken by Guinea’s former colonial rulers. From 1967 to 1983,
Guinea’s government presented selections of songs from the Voix de la
Révolution catalogue on its own recording label, Syliphone. These recordings
were described as ‘the fruit of the revolution’. Syliphone was revolutionary
in many aspects: it was the first recording label to feature traditional
African musical instruments such as the kora and balafon within an orchestre
setting; it was the first to present the traditional songs of the griots
within an orchestre setting; and it was the first government-sponsored
recording label of post-colonial Africa. Syliphone represented authenticité
in action, and over 750 songs were released by the recording label on 12-inch
and 7-inch vinyl discs. All are highly sought after by collectors worldwide.
This first volume of a two-volume series presents a selection of the best of
early Syliphone recordings. The songs demonstrate not only the essence of
Guinea’s authenticité policy and of its subsequent Cultural Revolution, but
of a confluence of musical styles from Cuba, jazz, highlife and the diverse
influences of Guinea’s cultural groups |

Teasing
dread atmospheres and zooming in on microscopic details that bring every beat
in every bar to life, Seb Uncles returns to Samurai Music with another deep
dive into his exquisitely crafted, cinematic progression of the drum &
bass tradition. Even a cursory glance at the Eusebeia back catalogue tells
you Uncles is an artist committed to the storytelling promise of breakbeat
culture. His work has been heavily tipped towards albums since he first broke
through around 2015, and across more than 10 long-players he's cultivated a
strong line in moody, evocative jungle and drum & bass more concerned
with world-building and subtle detail rather than aggression and intensity.
Following up on his 2023 LP for Samurai, X, on Undertones Uncles applies his
signature meditative tones to a broad expanse. There's a consistent sound
palette that leans on the warm snarl of monosynth low end and aqueous pads,
delicately edited breaks and crisply sculpted synth percussion, but Uncles
moves with dexterity around different tempos and structures within this
considered sound world. The overarching notion is one of things lurking
beneath the surface - a comfortably open theme to be approached and
understood from any number of angles. It certainly chimes with the upfront
detail and brooding tension that gives the Eusebeia sound such depth. There
are moments of direct drum pressure, such as fierce opener 'Undertones' with
its diced-up breaks and icy chords, the boisterous jungle dread of 'Uncover'
and chasmic roller 'Root Out', but on the likes of 'Beneath The Surface' and
'Out In The Open' it's the mellow elements that take precedence over the deft
drum science. The motion is persistent and nuanced, but it's achieved without
deferring to default dancefloor tropes. 'Emergence' marks a pointed shift
towards a delicate strain of techno that maintains the album's sound at a
mid-paced pulse, focusing on synth shapes and textures to achieve propulsion
with only the lightest of drum parts. Alongside the energetic intrigue of
Uncles' sonic choices, the melodic make-up of the track is a compelling
showcase for his emotionally ambiguous approach, both rousing and chilling in
the same curious chord shapes. From the half-time prowl of 'Lifting The Veil'
to the creeping textures and haunted phrasing of 'Brought To Light',
Undertones is another stunning exercise in widescreen jungle. It flows
naturally from the rich body of work Uncles has cultivated over the past 10
years while carving out its own unique pocket - a reminder if you needed one
of the profound sound bedded into the Eusebeia project |

of artists that Richard Branson in 1978 had in mind to sign to his new Reggae
label Front Line. The mission was to sign the cream of the reggae crop when
the Virgin record boss went down to Jamaica with a group of Reggae minded
people,included in that group was one Johnny Rotten,singer of the very
recently disbanded group The Sex Pistols. The result of which would be a two
album deal between Tapper and the label. The first release also in 1978 was
the album Peace in the Ghetto(Kingston Sounds KS052) and this release Tapper
Roots. For the cd issue of this release,Tapper has picked two tracks that he
feels hapy to put alongside the album. Make Faith cut with the band Knowledge
and New Star.. This is a very important album from the Tapper Zukie

decade has passed since Infinity Night graced Bordello A Parigi with his
wonderful Winter and Summer EPs. After too long a wait, the French producer
returns with the aptly titled Le Temps Qui Passe. Six slices of select
synthesizer music make up the 12?, tracks lovingly crafted with Frederic
Bergamaschi?s trademark analogue warmth. A melancholic melody meanders
through brightness in ?Tu Ne Me R?ponds Pas?, dulcet words hidden under the
machine gauze of a vocoder. Skittish percussion gives way to the refrain of
?It?s Full of Stars?. Hazy keys appear as an arpeggiator rumbles below a
shimmering sky. ?Les Souvenirs De Valerie? picks up where its predecessor
left off. Astral notes are beamed into the heavens, echoing into the while
crisp cymbals tether the piece. Infinity Night has always sought that point
of balance in his music, a bittersweetness he accentuates and explores. This
is true in the darker shades of ?Nymphomania?. Beats are bolstered, key stabs
piercing the tenderness of analogue trills. The title track is a rich
patchwork. A burbling undercurrent supports forays into diverse tangents with
lyrics surfacing through key shifts and sliding scales. Marching to
militaristic rhythms, ?I Comme Icare? is the curtain call. The stringent
drums are broken by sailing synthlines, vocals masked in a familiar mesh to

Charlotte
de Witte’s unrelenting single ‘No Division’ featuring XSALT drops digitally
on May 29th while she plays six NYC shows in four days (vinyl on 6th June) –
with different DJ sets across venues from small and intimate to big and
uncompromising. The vinyl version (including the Original Mix and
Instrumental Mix as a B-side) gets an early release and will be on sale at
the shows. Why the NYC connection? Says de Witte: ‘Launching this single
while I’m in New York feels symbolic. There’s something about the city, its
chaos, its diversity, its constant movement, that perfectly mirrors the
spirit of ‘No Division’. It’s a place where differences collide and coexist.’
‘No Division’ is the second single from Charlotte’s eponymous long-awaited
debut album (out November 7th). ‘This track is another chapter of my upcoming
album, and like the others, it reflects a part of who I am. ‘No Division’ is
both a call and a celebration. It’s a reminder of what’s possible when we
lose ourselves in the music and come together on the same frequency. It

A
highly respected figure for dancers and artists alike, Markus Suckut offers
his signature built-to-last sound to Fuse with 'Moments'. In this style,
confidence is key and Suckut provides soul to club music in a way few have
been able to. Simple yet ever so refined, the German artist furthers his
sound with the Belgian label with rolling tracks that reach beyond the
dancefloor yet again. 'Moments' is just that, a collection of instances spent
inside the mind or outwards into the world in order to move and connect. The
A1 remains usually the first impression of every record, so it makes sense
that 'Patience' would mark the beginning of this eight release for the
Brussels' club. A bubbly yet impactful track, 'Patience' rolls through six
minutes in no time with eccentric percussion and a viscous low-end. Unafraid
to break the codes in order to push his sound forward while respecting the
essence of what makes the genre great, Suckut puts years of mastery at work
in order to find balance and air between his elements. This impressive
low-end rhythm is continued into 'Resurrection' - which is more of an
exploration of dissonance and texture than its predecessor. With hi-hats
whipping around the stereo field through metallic bends and a harmonic
kick/bass, the record knows for what context 'Resurrection' is reserved for.
'Myth' then comes along to lighten the load with a positive groove and an
extraverted arrangement, maintaining balance to the overall EP. Complete with
a subtly modulating live-played percussion that echoes the character of a
vocal and layered over an almost vintage drum sequence, the persistence of
'Myth' finds a sweet spot between techno and house, making it a versatile
tool in almost any record bag. The soul of the EP, however, belongs to its
title track 'Moments'. Appropriately named, this fourth piece concludes
Markus Suckut's latest statement for the dancefloor. A suspension of time in
structure as much as in melody, the producer takes the time to unveil each
element of the record while maintaining a burning intriguing throughout. A
truly timeless piece reserved for only the most special moments and most
deserving crowds, Suckut proves once again that his understanding of emotion
through his medium will echo his music across the world for years to come |

From
"Spirit Of The Air"'s violence, "Cross Over"'s industrial
poundings, the PCP-infused minimalism of "High On Angel Dust", to
"Someone Was There" mixing techno and hardcore, Derniere Danse Part
II outlines what Manu le Malin is as a producer : not afraid to visit
experimental soundscapes nor ashamed to go straight to the dancefloor
point... But always soaked in darkness. This is a black gateway to the world
of MKNK's head, through five of his all-time favorite tracks, including one
unreleased, all remastered by Scan X and Deathmachine. But before pressing
play, consider yourself warned : the first track "Spirit Of The
Air", with its tortuous intro, piano break, screams samples and
references to The Exorcist saga, is relentless, violent and unpredictable.
And things don't go softer with "Cross Over", also an extract from
his Fighting Spirit album (2002), a downright industrial attack that sounds
particularly up-to-date. Unreleased "High On Angel Dust" then shows
Manu's admiration to the label PCP (hence the powdery title) and its founder
Marc Acardipan. An oddity in his discography that almost never saw the light
of the day : the synths and TR-909 based track was recorded in one night, and
completely forgotten in a DAT for 28 years! "Someone Was There",
from the soundtrack of Jalil Lespert's 24 Mesures, and the esteemed classic
"One The Way Home", available as a bonus in the digital release,
conclude this handpicked selection. Diverse, personal, tormented and yet
dancefloor compatible, Derniere Danse Part I and Part II feature some of
Manu's best works. But they also are a stepping stone : MKNK will now open to
new artists exploring every dark corner of what hardcore music can be |
