it was looking like the riff was dead and buried in 2024_ then this crippling
hod of bricks was dumped on the planet's back. Patrol skilfully combine the
glam rock perfection of Sweet, the 80's heavy metal grit of Judas Priest and
the razor sharp melodies of Thin Lizzy. But fear not punks, the backbone of
this record has a modern garage pace not unlike Liquids or Sick Thoughts to
ensure toes are tapping across the board. Maxime Smadja (Chateau Vergogne
Studio/Rixe/Boss) has undoubtedly left his mark of class on this EP, adding

Downtempo techno stars The
Connection Machine return with a stunning re-release, featuring unreleased
tracks and a Legowelt remix of the classic Echoes From Tau Ceti. Four years
after the re-release of their debut The Dream Tec Album on U-TRAX, the Dutch
downtempo techno duo The Connection Machine returns with a second highly
anticipated re-release. BlackHole+ contains remastered versions of most of
the tracks on their original The Black Hole EP, released on U-TRAX in 1995,
plus five tracks from their EPs on Tabernacle Records: Lost Connection and
Lost Machine (with electro outfit Lost Trax on the flipside). This CD version

TREES is one of Youth’s most revered dub projects, it helped define the
Liquid Sound Design sound that fans around the world hold dear. This project
is the third in a triptych of albums Youth has made with a specific Celtic /
Hindu fusion. Starting out with the classic Celtic Cross ‘Hicksville’ 20
years ago, featuring the mythical Simon Posford (Shpongle) through to ‘East
of the River Ganges’ (ft Klaus Shultz / Tangerine Dream amongst many others)
in 2004 followed by the last piece of this mystical puzzle ‘Celtic Vedic’,
released on compact disc only in 2016 , which charts the journey of the Celt
from Northern India to Snowdonia. The idea stems from Youth’s firm belief
that there is a strong correlation between Celtic and Vedic cultures and
their Northern Indian roots. Youth has assembled a host of collaborators to
weave their labrynthine magic on ‘Celtic Vedic’: Jah Wobble (PiL) on bass,
Matt Black/Coldcut (Ninja Tunes) on warped soundscaping duties, Galician
Celtic pipe and flute player Daniel Romar, Bollywood contemporary Indian
singer Shridevi Keshavan and Elfic Circle. It features many field recordings
made by Youth on his various Indian odysseys and is all harnessed together
with cutting-edge electronica that the Liquid Sound Design team pioneered 20
years ago. The team today are still pioneering new directions within
‘Downtempo Electronica Music’ and beats that create 3 dimensional landscapes
for the helioscopic imagination to explore and psychoactive maps for the
inner astronaut in all of us. ‘Celtic Vedic’ promises unchartered bass
annihilation and heliotropic soundscapes, pounding basslines overlayed on 3D
holographic beats and wrestles with serpentine melodies and psychedelic
textures |

The
first and most independent of all independent producers, Joe Meek needs
little introduction. He was the first to chart in both the UK and the USA
with an independently produced song -which was actually recorded in his
home's kitchen- when The Tornados' 'Telstar' took the world in 1962. Meek
was, of course, one of the most in vogue producers of the first half of the
1960s, providing the soundtrack to the evolution of UK rock'n'roll to
Swinging London, scoring hits with actors like John Leyton ('Johnny Remember
Me'), showmen like Screaming Lord Sutch and bands like The Outlaws and The
Tornados. He also produced a wide stream of R&B and freakbeat 45s that
are nowadays hardly sought after by the collectors with the biggest bank
accounts. Joe Meek experimented with all kinds of recording techniques in his
home studio, his tricks and gimmicks won his productions chart placement and
critical and public acclaim, but none of his projects was so advanced and way
out as the avantgarde experimentation showed in his 'I Hear A New World'
electronic symphony from 1960. Aided by The Blue Men formed by Rod Freeman
(group leader, guitar, vocals), Ken Harvey (tenor sax, vocals), Roger Fiola
(Hawaiian guitar), Chris White (guitar), Doug Collins (bass), Dave Golding
(drums) -also known as Rodd-Ken and The Cavaliers- who provided a tight base
to his electronically produced sounds, Meek came up with what he envisioned
as the soundtrack of the future, the sounds he envisioned were to be heard in
outer space. It was too way out for its time, certainly. To the point that of
all the opus, only four tracks saw the light of day on a 7" EP released
on Triumph, Meek's very own label. It wouldn't be until 1991 that the whole
recordings from the 'I Hear A New World' sessions would see the light of day
on a CD issued by the RPM label. Wah Wah offers a reissue of this now classic
early electronics masterpiece, housed in a beautiful front-laminated

Journeys
are never just about distance. They stretch time, reshape perception, and
demand transformation. With its latest vinyl split EP, Standard Deviation
presents four tracks by Nastya Vogan and Phase Fatale that serves as a vessel
for tracing displacement, memory, and the liminality of return. These
melancholic yet powerful techno cuts serve both the concrete dance floor and
moments of intimate self-reflection. Two artists--Nastya Vogan and Phase
Fatale--approach Kyiv from different trajectories, but they both keep
returning to the city. Vogan, a Ukrainian musician and resident DJ of Kyiv,
and Phase Fatale (Hayden Payne), Berlin-based producer, Berghain and Khidi
resident and founder of BITE Records, share a longstanding musical
friendship. They've played B2B sets at K41 and Vogan, appeared on BITE's
"Shedding Skin" compilation in 2023, and they share a vision for
music selection, from aesthetics to philosophy. Vogan's 'Transitioning
Territory' and 'This Is Not a Love Song' unravel the psycho-geography of
transition. The first track captures the 24-hour journey to Kyiv as a rite of
passage where 'time seems to fold; you are profoundly present yet
paradoxically far from the world you left.' In this suspended state, memories
surface and ordinary life recedes as the train's rhythm becomes its own
meditation. Her second track explores Lacanian limerence--consciously falling
for something not fully known, filling absences with personal projections as
a way to discover what lies within oneself. Phase Fatale's contributions
capture movement and distance with mechanical precision. 'Kekkai,' takes its
name from the Japanese word for boundary, echoing 'respect my borders' ethos
while reflecting on crossing into wartime Ukraine. The term also suggests a
protective force field in Buddhist thought--much like Kyiv's current aura of
resistance. 'Neosyazhna Rosa' (Unreachable Rose) honors Payne's Ukrainian
grandmother Rose, weaving family history into his present connection with
Ukraine. Both pieces balance melancholy with light, their sound palette of
lush pads and rhythmic breaks crafted with K41's dance floor in mind |

Rytm sub-label Spectra, with remixes from KiNK. Glasgow-born Gary Beck is a
primary figure in techno and has been for well over a decade. Dropping
seminal underground classics and cultured full-lengths on an array of leading
labels, as well as his own BEK Audio imprint, he has also led the way as a
revered DJ as his legacy continues to build. Now, adding to his standout
'Upside Criminal' EP as well as his well-received track 'Fold' on the
'Federation Of Rytm III' VA, he returns with a record that has often featured
in both his and Mutual Rytm boss SHDW's sets, stepping out on the label's
Spectra series with a cut that has long been sought-after by those who know.
A spontaneous studio moment turned club weapon, the timeless 'Hopper' merges
a syncopated disco bassline with subtle nods to funk and classic dancefloor
energy. It's one of those tracks that lingers in your head long after the
night ends - a pure embodiment of Beck's raw energy and production finesse
built on an infectious groove full of contrast and character. Bulgarian synth
wizard, hardware genius and tireless innovator KiNK delivered Spectra's
inaugural release, so he lands as the perfect person to remix. His first
interpretation stays close to his roots with a house-leaning, slowed down
take that channels warmth and groove in equal measure. On the B2, however, he
flips the script with a high octane fusion of techno and UKG. It's a
