Following
a collaborative release on Sherelle and Naina's Hooversound Recordings and
EPs on Sneaker Social Club, WNCL Recordings and his own Club Glow (ran
alongside Denham Audio, LMajor and Borai), contemporary UK breaksmith Mani
Festo readies four typically lairy cuts of gun-finger, rush-in-the-rave
energy. Mani Festo has become something of a breakbeat assassin in recent
years with a deserved spotlight being shone on the producer as one of the
brightest artists to emerge from within the dark 'n' dutty UK breaks and
electro scene. What you see is what you get from Mani Festo; what you're
getting is a screwface and a smacked jaw. 'Leviathan' kicks things off with
its stripped-back, grime-like textures - distorted kicks, frantic claps and
growls from the belly of the beast blend on a minimal-breaks sequence that
packs quite a punch despite its uncluttered soundwaves. 'Tethys' follows in a
similar vein; distorted screams come from a brass-creature deep in the
darkness, scattered percussion and step-tipped production blur the lines
between garage, breaks and electro. Large wubs and basslines guide the
listener front left (just make sure you've got your protective earplugs in!)
on 'Night Drive' before 'With U' strays down an emotional and introspective route
with its otherworldly atmospherics, jungle tones and contemplative stillness
- a creative combining of both heaven and hell |

Stuck on common ground is the
debut album of the Italian Power Trio Hijss. With a mixture of heavy blues
influenced riffs and synthesized Krautrock parts hijss tries to create a high
dynamic range that will keep your attention at all time. On top of gritty
basslines and ferocious drums lie cosmic guitars, tantalizing vocals and
arpeggiated electronic drones. All three band members come from a vast
musical background. Their common denominator is without a doubt a punkish
attitude. The album was produced by Toni Quiroga and hijss, drums were

2020's 'Black Metal' is one hell
of an album. It's a downbeat, dark folk album, that manages to capture the
vibe of the band's earlier work quite well. Pelander has managed to make a
"doom album" without actually making one in the traditional sense.
'Black Metal' manages to capture the world weary, woeful, attitude and vibe
of doom better than a ton of albums that crank up the Sabbath worship to
ridiculous levels. It's a work of darkness and despair and therefore it is

The
Mighty Cynics are back with a New LP and the same fuzzed out mayhem that has
made their live shows legendary. In the last year The Cynics have been
extremely active, playing shows and Festivals in London, Rotterdam,
Stockholm, a full tour of Norway, all over Spain, Festival Beat in Italy, and
even a few acoustic shows which spotlighted the rich song writing talents of
the Kastelic/Kostelich team. Never has their talent been more on display than
on the new LP. Those who had the chance to listen to advance demos say it is
probably the best Cynics record ever, on par with their classic
"Rock'n'Roll" LP. It was recorded in early 2007 in Gijon (Spain) at
Circo Perrotti Studios, and counts with the collaboration of the members of
Doctor Explosion, Jorge, Pibli and Kaplan as well as other great guest
musicians. Kastelic and Kostelich came out of the Punk Rock Movement in their
early teens and into the Real Punk world of Garage rock during the
mid-eighties. Hailing from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, they have been at the
forefront of this scene for more than 20 years now. Along with The Fuzztones,
The Lyres, and The Chesterfield Kings, The Cynics have always been regarded
as garage rock royalty. Kostelich still owns and runs the Garage rock label Get
Hip. Kastelic's wailing screams, his on and offstage antics, and his
legendary tequila consumption have made an impression on points all over the

rock group, Plum Nelly. Full of complex arrangements, jazzy flourishes, and
great proto-metal guitar work, Deceptive Lines draw comparisons to everyone
from The Allman Brothers to Floyd and Sabbath. Strong ballads are matched
with hard psych epics and heavy guitar workouts. Poorly promoted and barely
heard at the time of its initial release, this group of New Yorkers barely
out of their teens could really cook and they deserve a lot more attention
than they have previously been given. This reissue should fix that problem,
and rescue another classic hard rock title from being lost to time! |

off producing a seminal documentary about the origin story of Portuguese rave
culture, Shcuro returns to his mother tongue, music, to give us four slices
of fresh yet classic Lisbon underground flavour right as the summer sets in.
'Echo Chamber' EP, Para?so's 17th outing, comes with two equally excellent
remixes separated by the atlantic: Brooklyn's MoMA Ready and Berlin's
Mareena. Side A starts with two tracks first blueprinted this past year as
Shcuro prepared a new live set. 'No Expectations' opens the record with a
high-paced sweat-breaker that elegantly evokes early rave culture as stabs,
funk and feelings abound. A2 'Persistence' follows suit with the work that
exudes proficiency: sound design, dub techno learnings and masterful layering
all conspire to create a moment of pure techno draw. Closing side A,
'Deviation' pulls some of the previous track's energy even though it's a
rework from the artist's earlier unreleased catalogue: another sign that
we're talking realness here. Clever percussion and refreshing washes drive us
well into dubby territories. 'Suspension' opens the B side, picking up where
it left off with the last original: a beautifully produced piece with
fleeting mutating stabs that seem to swim alongside us in an imaginary
oceanic dancefloor. Liquid, refreshing sensorial motifs seem to underpin this
record and that spirit spills into the remix pack, starting off with MoMA
Ready's take on 'Persistence', bringing out the rawness in the original while
adding a special sauce with Robert Hood-like funky yet minimalistic bleep
work. Tresor's Mareena steps in for a centered, dancefloor-geared - but still
mysterious - twist on 'Deviation', perfectly rounding up the record with the
expertise of a club resident |

The
twentieth Altered Circuits entry comes courtesy of Attack & Disperse, the
moniker Cooper runs in parallel with his Reflex Blue project. It focuses on
darker, deeper moods, with a hardware-based, imperfection-embracing
approach--and sits on the axis of electro, Detroit techno, and progressive.
DiscoNnect revolves around a murky, slightly unstable bass with strong sub
presence and a thickly accented vocal sample. Distorted synth brass
interludes enable the bare-bones sections to punch as hard as they do. Higher
Places works with the same energy, but channels it in a bolder way thanks to
its snappy palette. The tune is indebted to the after hours, yet carries
enough crossover appeal to set off any club setting. On Power Of Overthink
the current shifts somewhat toward the effervescent. Its flanged square lead
is surrounded by fidgetty arps and acid squelches, and feels sturdy enough to
carry a dozen tracks' weight. Closer Beat from E is a composition of
IDM-inspired drum patterns laced with a brash mixture of samples -
pitched-down vocals, vocoders, and scratch salvos all make their way in - and
propelled by a fat MS20-type bass. Cooper has been on a steady tear with his
sleekly balanced, club-oriented releases, and we are delighted he's now joined
our catalog with The Second Contact EP |

album from UK punk rockers Toy Dolls, recorded in September 1992 and hitting
shelves in January 1993 via Receiver Records. Often hailed as one of their
standout releases-both by fans and frontman Olga-it delivers the band's trademark
mix of fast-paced punk and witty lyricism. The title is a playful mash-up of
"absurd" (meaning bizarre or illogical) and "ditties"

returns to his own Full Range Motion records with 'Singularities EP'! On this
EP, 393AD continues to explore the grey-area in between introspective yet
driving techno, an area in which 393AD's well-received debut 'Doctrine EP'
left such an impression. The Amsterdam-based artist playful use of
sound-design and storytelling adaptations of live hardware jams are once more
an excellent foundation for his second release, solidifying the distinctive
sound of the artist on this young label. Opener 'Gravitational' pulsating
beats are a strong anchor for slowly unfolding harmonic stabs and a strong
centrifugal energy. Glimmering patterns unfold as an umbrella; a projectile
shoots past; the aftermath of a near-collision - there's no running from this
mind-gazing adventure. On the same side 'Technological' pushes on with
dramatic effect as noise interlocks with serenity. A devious and mesmerizing
track. The flip starts off with 'Mechanical', the final clever contribution
to this EP by 393AD. Propulsive kicks and startling low-end call &
responses manifest infectious hooks and rhythmic interplay. This track is as
serious as it is facetious. Finalising this EP is Maasym's remix of
'Gravitational'. Building on the urgent dynamics of the original, Maasym conjures
a magical field of rhythm, intertwining the original with his own energetic

Cortizona
proudly unveils Cortizona Heritage, a new sublabel created in partnership
with the Study Centre for Flemish Music (SVM) to revive and showcase hidden
chapters of Flemish music history. This heritage imprint will dig deep into
the archives, restoring and reissuing rare, often overlooked recordings with
the care and context they deserve. Its mission: to let unheard, thrilling,
and underrepresented episodes of Flemish music history resound again,
presented in beautifully crafted editions. The debut release, Free Music
(1975-1988) by WIM Fanfare, sets the tone. Founded in 1975 by pianist and
improviser Fred Van Hove, tenor saxophonist Cel Overberghe, alto saxophonist
André Goudbeek, and percussionist Ivo Vander Borght, WIM Fanfare emerged as
the unruly street-arm of the Werkgroep Improviserende Musici (Workshop for
Improvising Musicians). The WIM collective itself had been founded in 1973 as
an act of protest - after Van Hove and Overberghe refused to play at Jazz
Middelheim in 1972 in response to the stark pay gap between European and
American musicians on the same bill. Instead, WIM members created their own
event: the Free Music Festival, launched in Antwerp that same year. Blending
the exuberance of a marching band with the unpredictability of free
improvisation, WIM Fanfare brought raw, joyful musical anarchy to city
squares, parades, and unsuspecting audiences-especially during the Free Music
Festival, where they became a tradition. The recordings on Free Music
(1975-1988) were first issued in 1990 as a cassette supplement to the art
magazine Deus Ex Machina, an edition now virtually impossible to find. For
this first-ever vinyl release of WIM Fanfare, these selections from Van
Hove's extensive personal live archive have been fully restored and
remastered. The album comes with newly designed artwork, an inner sleeve and
cover featuring never-before-seen photographs by Gérard Rouy, and an
exclusive insert with an original WIM Fanfare drawing, made by founding
member Cel Overberghe, mid 70s. Detailed liner notes, assembled from archival
press materials, interviews, and Van Hove's own tapes-complete the package,
giving rich historical context to the music. This LP not only captures the
untamed spirit of a group that refused to march to anyone else's beat - it
also launches an ongoing series dedicated to documenting, completing, and
sharing the singular story of Fred Van Hove, WIM and the Free Music movement.

Debuting
on Curvature with an impressively deep EP, Reviver delivers a sound that
aligns perfectly with the core ethos of the Spatial family - incredible
atmospherics and classic breakbeats. A1 - Call From Space: Opening the EP we
are treated to a DJ-friendly intro with thick breaks and crackly backdrops
reminiscent of classic sci-fi movies with a slightly oppressive aura. A
tapestry of melodies created from intertwining synths and samples follows, as
Reviver tells a story of intrigue and redemption through this wonderful
medium - astunning, rousing melody soon develops and elevates things to
otherworldly levels for the latter stages. Quite simply, you've got to hear
this. A2 - Way Of Paradox: Old-school, finely edited breaks open a
DJ-friendly intro to Way Of Paradox, a track which quickly builds a darkly
suspenseful vibe through synths and pads, rising and swirling across the
soundscape with mystique and a sullen vigor, before a mournfully intense
earworm melody joins the proceedings. The atmosphere builds and envelops the
listener like gathering storm clouds leaving this one etched firmly in the
memory. B1 - Define Or Destroy: Strap in as there is no let up with the
intensity - Reviver unleashes Define or Destroy which sees that classic amen
break deftly programmed with a variety of filtering and editing techniques on
show, while sumptuous operatic female vocals add further depth along with
melodic keys. This track rolls and rolls with the best of them as you
appreciate the subtleties of Reviver's varied edits with each listen. B2 -
Journey Alone: Generating an immediate sense of unease straight out of The X
Files with delicate pads and synths, Reviver closes the EP in style, serving
up a track dripping with atmosphere and intrigue. A wonderfully old-school
breakbeat drives proceedings along with sparse kicks and excitable snares,
patterns filtered to perfection with swirling micro melodies adding layer
upon layer to an already impressive piece. A fitting end to an incredibly

- The Moon On The Moors: ASC opens the EP with a distinctive, purposeful and
dancefloor-friendly piece, driven by an intensely memorable drum pattern that
will have your head nodding instantly - that's before the deep, earthy
room-filling bassline quakes below. Filtered metallic breakbeats join the mix
periodically along with string melodies and a plethora of sci-fi effects and
classic micro samples. Absolutely essential stuff from the atmospheric wizard
that is ASC. A2 - Persuasion: A measured approach introduces Persuasion, with
light hats and a subtle bleepy melody gradually pulling us toward a
stunningly crisp slice of breakbeat heaven. Impossibly detailed rapidfire
snares dominate the mix with incredible clarity that just has to be heard to
be believed. Light bongos and airy synthwork nestle beautifully alongside
trademark old school high pitched female vocal hits to cap off another
stunner. AA1 - Time and Again: Setting the tone immediately with thunderous,
deep Hot Pants breaks - finely crafted as ever - Time and Again sees ASC
explore an other-worldly setting with an uneasy intrigue to the echoing keys,
while rousing strings provide a suitably nervy backdrop to the mix. A mellow
yet tense breakdown is quickly nudged aside with the crunching breaks and
darkly bassline, while echoed vocal hits add further texture. AA2 -

FJAAK's preference for cultivating huge dancefloor heaters that thrive on
live instrumentalism and limitless energy. It's racy, groovy and raw,
building around rolling rhythms, warping layers of analogue sound and
intricate breaks throughout. Argentinian talent West Code was the winner of
the 'Redemption' remix competition and rounds off the main package with a
huge interpretation of FJAAK's original mix. Almost bordering into tribal
techno in places, its emphasis on groove and subtle South American influences
create a unique remix, overflowing with boomy low-end drive, piercing
percussive drive and mind-bending melodics - a real gem for the height of the
party and irresistibly sinister from start to finish. The remix competition
of 'Redemption' drew an overwhelming response from producers worldwide, which
made it very difficult to choose a winner. Even though West Code's
interpretation was the chosen remix, four other interpretations were so good
that FJAAK decided to showcase the talent of Helsmoortel, Genex, Ay Din and
Your friend daao by including their reworks on an exclusive Bandcamp-only EP,

Ten
City is universally known as one of the foundational House Music artists who
helped to preach the gospel of House from Chicago out to the world during the
genre’s formative years in the late 80’s. Remarkably Ten City is still
recording and performing, with the voice and face of Ten City Byron Stingily
delivering classic songs like “That’s The Way Love Is,” “Devotion” and “Right
Back To You” to adoring fans from multiple generations around the world.
Throughout his career, Byron has always had a keen sense of where House Music
is going both on a musical and cultural level, and the role Ten City could
play to stay at the forefront. He saw that now in the year 2025 the time was
right to collaborate with a new generation producer who could “walk the walk”
in terms of knowing how to utilize to the fullest the multiple emerging
production techniques making House Music dancefloors jump. At the same time,
whomever he worked with to create a new Ten City album had to be so well
versed and respectful of the group’s legacy that they would not stray too far
from what the original songs and albums were all about. He found his man in
another Chicago native DJ Emmaculate, who is well known among house music
fans as one of the most talented writer / producer / DJs in the genre. For
the new album on Nervous Records, appropriately entitled “The Next
Generation,” Byron and Emmaculate have expanded the Ten City sound both
musically and in terms of vocal contributors. While “Voice Of House Music”

Popper’ from Contemporary Part Two is reworked by La Boix, the duo of LA”s

restless creator presents himself. SSTROM embodies the calmly bold. Building
a version of the modern disco that nobody asked for. SSTROM is the capsule
that shocks and comforts, gathers and spark a new thought. The robust shell
acts as a camouflage for the wild and wicked bleakness of the music he

articulating diverse textures, densities and states of aggregation. The

BAUGRUPPE90 opens a new chapter - not just musically, but structurally. It's
the debut release on their self-built imprint, MONTAGE, and it sounds exactly
like that: raw materials, tightly assembled, no unnecessary ornamentation.
Across four tracks, the duo approaches rhythm with the mindset of architects
working with form - intentional, pressurised, and precise. The opener, Laser
Cut, slices through the mix with minimalist aggression. Torque Motion grinds
forward with mechanical force, while Ground Lift burrows deep into
sub-frequency foundations. The closer, Boss (Hard Mix), drops like a slab of
reinforced concrete-dense, heavy, and unyielding. This is club music stripped

Album' marked a significant evolution in Orbital's sound - and was met with
widespread critical acclaim. NME awarded it 9/10 in their review, and it was
chosen as one of Mixmag's best albums of all time. Standout track,
"Halcyon + On + On", became an instant classic, known for its
ethereal atmosphere and haunting vocal sample from Opus III's It's a Fine
Day. The track's dreamy progression and uplifting yet melancholic tone made
it a staple in film soundtracks and DJ sets, embodying the emotional depth
electronic music could achieve. "Impact (The Earth Is Burning)" is
another defining moment, an evolving journey of layered breakbeats and
dynamic synth arrangements, reflecting the duo's ability to create both
club-ready and introspective music. Meanwhile, "Lush 3-1" and
"Lush 3-2" demonstrate Orbital's knack for crafting intricate,
evolving grooves, balancing pulsating rhythms with melodic flourishes that
keep the listener engaged. 'The Brown Album' 2LP reissue has been cut at half
speed, to ensure maximum audio fidelity for this landmark release, and is the
first time the album has been pressed on vinyl for over ten year |

For
years Clark’s best work has toggled between beauty and brutality, blistering
noise and otherworldly calm. Sus Dog is also situated between those two
poles, but in leveraging his voice like this, Clark has discovered not only a
new way to guide listeners through his maze-like production, but also of
expressing the strain of navigating such wild terrain” – Pitchfork. This is
Chris Clark’s tenth studio album released in May 2023, the electronic artist
choosing to marry his signature volatile, pin-sharp production to the
introduction of his own emotive vocals. Challenging himself to fantasise what
a record might sound like “if the Beach Boys took MDMA and made a rave
record” Clark looked to Thom Yorke to assist in an executive production role,
an ideal companion considering Yorke’s most recent flights to the world of
immersive electronica. There’s also plenty of occasions where the
compositions lean towards cinematic soundscapes particularly on the unnerving
distortion of ‘Forest’. However unlike on his ‘Growl Garden’ EP where vocals
were used in a more chilling and dystopian role, those on the likes of
‘Dolgoch Tape’ are far more reverential and tender, closer to the spellbound
serenity found on a Sufjan Stevens LP. Vocals funnelled into textures rather
than dominant leads. Highlighting the album’s contrasts and bonds between
human and machine The Guardian described it as “wandering free from
structure, deploying sunbursts of synths and metallic percussion, nailing
melodies into your primitive brain.” The album received excellent radio
support in the UK at BBC R6 with A listing for the tracks ‘Town Crank’ &
‘Clutch Pearlers’; in the US there were plays from KEXP & KCRW |
