What
is the sound of the Russian dub? There is a storied history of attempts to
adapt roots music to Russian soil, but most of them can be attributed to
reggae (the so-called 'northern' variety) rather than dub. Gost has a history
with the town of Smolensk. It's home to Gamayun, whose great album
Filterealism was released on our label last year. Now Anton, one of Gamayun's
members, presents his new duo Dubovaya Kolesnitsa (The Oaken Chariot). In his
words, it has no connection to his other band at all and is an attempt to go
back to the roots of a genre that doesn't truly exist. The Russian word for
oak, 'dub,' looks exactly like the genre, and the chariot emerged from the
name for the group's jams - 'telega' - which can be translated as a cart. All
the music here is the result of live improvisations: no samples, just
instruments (notably Vasiliy Shilov's bass). These recordings have been
slightly edited, and even the almost indecipherable texts are freestyle.
There's no place for real riddims in Russian dub: sometimes this record
sounds like something akin to dub variations on underground Russian hip hop
(and we mean that in the best possible way).We should also remember that dub
and reggae (and hip hop as well) all started as the voice of people. The
voice of those who are always in the minority and try not to be silent. The
most prominent dub producers and reggae performers were against hierarchy,
imperialism, and colonialism - and their music was born out of the desire to
protest against it. As Anton puts it, Oaken Chariot, the "Russian
mutation of dub," is an attempt of voicing the concern. And he links
this attempt to a historic Russian tradition of Foolishness for Christ, also
known as yurodstvo. The "fool" in question is not naive at all;
he's trying to seem lunatic on purpose. For Anton, the music of Oaken Chariot
is a rebellion with a cut-off tongue. Here, illegible speech, full of
inarticulate sounds, is a sign of the inability of the statement. But this
inability represents a statement itself that is inevitable. Yet, the music of
Oaken Chariot is genuinely fun, free, and mesmerizing (like the happenings of
holy "fools"), but we could also approach it more conceptually.
Theoretician Michael E. Veal describes dub as a 'postsong', taking the form
of "linguistic, formal and symbolic indeterminacy." The duo's
faintly eerie compositions call back to the notion of musical hauntology.
There is an attempt, without any direct references, to reconstruct the
feeling of something that was never there at all. A little nostalgic and very
forward-thinking at the same time, the music of Oaken Chariot is best
described in its own words. In the opening track, a voice can be heard saying
"eto delo v lob," which means something like "it's a
straight-on thing." This is very direct, almost in the vein of folk
music. This is a great - and, it must be said, successful - experiment in
searching for the soul of Russian dub. Simple as that |

Records and Universal Pictures Film Music Classics Collection proudly present
the world premiere vinyl release of both the used and unused scores for
Alfred Hitchcock's FRENZY, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the film.
FRENZY marked the director's triumphant return to London in 1972. With an
excellent script by Anthony Shaffer, the film was immediately considered one
of Hitchcok's best and has since become a classic. After the parting of ways
with Bernard Herrmann, Hitchcock changed composers in each of his last four
films, choosing from those who were popular at the time. For FRENZY, his
first choice was Henry Mancini (BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S, THE PINK PANTHER,
HATARI!, CHARADE), who wrote a sumptuous, gothic-hued score featuring an
unusual orchestral palette. The main theme uses the dolorous tones and
sepulchral pedals of a mighty organ, and the tension-filled score that
follows is grim and at times almost brutal. Hitchcock, feeling it was too
"dark and cruel," turned it down and hired celebrated British
composer Ron Goodwin (MURDER, SHE SAID, BATTLE OF BRITAIN, WHERE EAGLES DARE,
SQUADRON 633) to compose a lighter, yet still suspenseful, score. For the
main title, a panoramic shot over the Thames, Goodwin wrote a majestic melody
ornamented with trumpets and timpani, in the best English tradition of pomp
and circumstance. FRENZY was the only completely rejected score in Henry
Mancini's long career, and also one of the most famous and requested Goodwin
scores over the ensuing decades. Neither of them, however, have previously
been officially released in any form until today. This 2-LP collection has
been painstakingly produced, restored and mastered by Mike Matessino from
stereo and mono elements vaulted at Universal Pictures, with the
collaboration of both the Ron Goodwin and Henry Mancini estates. This special
edition features an exclusive, in-depth essay by writer and composer Deniz
Cordell packaged in a deluxe tip-on gatefold and pressed in audiophile 180 GM
black vinyl |

Spanish and their Basque fishing hometown slang their attitude comes across
loud and clear. Monotony, authority, armies of has/beens, and conformist punks

your voice as well as listening to others. Menous opening track "Meguri"
carries an atmospheric, floating feeling, followed by an joyful and playful
approach by Mary Yuzovskaya with "Late AM". Then there is the
spoken words (vinyl only), in the mothertongue of each Artist, on the A and B
side to be explored. The B side opens with "Oya", a track by Sarah

Late Bloomer, Belgian-Cameroonian rapper, composer and multi-instrumentalist
Kunde delivers a work that is both deeply personal and socially charged. The
album forms a diptych with his previous release, Dandelion(2024). In Late
Bloomer, Kunde pays tribute to his mother, who largely raised him and his
sister on her own, using pivotal personal moments as a mirror through which
he reveals the world from his perspective. Composed and arranged entirely by
Kunde and brought to life by his live band, Late Bloomer unfolds as a rich,
layered universe where jazz, R&B, hip-hop, samba and touches of
psychedelic rock intersect. Whereas his first album emerged mostly from the
home studio, the new work is driven by live energy, collective interplay and
a broader sonic scope. The album is further enriched by guest contributions
from Helena Casella, Fred Gata, Okon and Tennishu (US), frontman of the
Anderson .Paak-supported jazz-fusion band Butcher Brown. Late Bloomer cements
Kunde's reputation as a storyteller, composer and musical director. The album
is both intimate and expansive, rooted in personal history while offering
incisive reflections on the human condition. Like his inspirations, ranging
from Coltrane and J Dilla to D'Angelo, Don Blackman and Arthur Verocai Kunde
crafts a distinctive sound that is at once deeply personal and universally

with the new. To mark its twentieth anniversary, the revered UK imprint
presents ‘20 Traxx From The Hudd’, a specially curated, all-new twenty-track
compilation handpicked by label founder Eddie Leader. The compilation brings
together a global, star-studded lineup of artists who embody the Hudd Traxx
ethos: soulful, inventive, and uncompromisingly underground. Contributions
come from Groove Armada, Seven Davis Jr., Chez Damier, Cinthie, Jovonn,
Oliver Dollar and others, offering a snapshot of the label’s wide-ranging
influence. From the silky deep house depths of Black Loops’ opener ‘Soul to
Soul Communication’, to the unmistakable analog warmth across Cinthie’s ‘Hudd
House’, to the raw, stripped-back energy of Seven Davis Jr.’s ‘Infrasound’,
the collection captures the many deeper shades of house Hudd Traxx has
championed for twenty years. Founded in 2005, Hudd Traxx has served as a
trusted home for pioneering artists such as Nightmares On Wax and Matthew
Herbert, guided by Eddie Leader’s consistent curatorial vision and unwavering
commitment to craft. As a producer, his releases on Classic, Robsoul, and
Balance Alliance have been supported by Laurent Garnier, Josh Wink,

edition of 300 copies) With Motions, Black Flower presents a unique EP, a
compact collection of musical organisms that simply insisted on coming into
the world. During the creation of their latest LP Kinetic, anabundance of
ideas emerged, far more than could fit on the album. Among these half-formed
sketches were a few striking pieces with such a strong character that they
refused to be left behind, and some even grew into band favourites. Diagonal
Walk, for instance, has long opened the Kinetic live set while on tour in
Europe, despite not appearing on the record itself. The band loved playing it
so much that they decided to bring it to its full potential: mixing it,
mastering it, and ultimately giving it a physical release. The result is a track
where energy swells and breaks in waves, offering groove, colour and deft
counterpoint. That momentum also elevated Out of One, Many, a meditation on
polyrhythm and shimmering harmony, as well as Trip to the Store. Both pieces
were further developed and now complete this new collection of tracks. The
time between full studio albums has proved creatively rich for Black Flower.
Motions stands as a vibrant statement of kinetic energy, and the band is
thrilled to finally share it with the world |

widely championed 2025 collaboration ‘111’, a standout of the summer season,
JAMIIE and Ape Drums reconnect for ‘4ME’, a track born from long-distance
sessions and a unique creative flow. Crafted via a partnership that thrives
on spontaneity, with ideas bouncing seamlessly between Berlin and Miami, the
result is a production that feels alive, organic, and meticulously detailed
as they both make their debut appearance on Damian Lazarus’ renowned
Crosstown Rebels imprint. The original ‘4ME’ moves at its own pace, layering
resonant synth textures, alluring vocal phrases, and subtle melodic chords to
create a hypnotic pull. Moments of intimacy give way to rolling, percussive

Ranking
Barnabas or simply Barnabas, is one of the many unsung heroes of Jamaican dub
music, which is usually associated with names such as King Tubby, Lee Perry,
Scientist, or Prince Jammy. Barnabas was born Stanley Bryan in Kingston in
1960, a few years later he became a regular at the legendary Channel One
Studios. In the 1970s, Channel One was the hot spot in Jamaica's studio
landscape, offering the best technology and producing reggae at an
internationally competitive level. Stanley Bryan was an all-rounder. During
the day, he sat at the mixing desk as an engineer and mixed, to name just
one, the Eek-a-Mouse classic "Wah Do Dem." If the drummer dropped
out during a recording, Barnabas stepped in. And at night, he took the
microphone at the Channel One Sound System as Ranking Barnabas and toasted
over riddims that he had frequently recorded himself in the studio. It was
the heyday of Jamaican dub, and Barnabas was the often uncredited creator of
countless dubs for maxi-singles and single B-sides. Although he contributed
to countless Dub LPs, only The Cold Crusher was released under his name.
Barnabas' only LP was released in a mini edition in the USA, was never
repressed, and became a highly priced, sought-after rarity. The Italian label
Jamdung, known for its high-quality reissues, has now unearthed The Cold
Crusher after 50 years and reissued it with a new artwork that matches the
original design. The album has been restored to high quality in Berlin by
Dubplates & Mastering and features detailed liner notes by dub specialist
Helmut Philipps (Dub – The Sound Of Surprise) and Lee Perry biographer David
Katz (People Funny Boy, Solid Foundation). Two renowned reggae authors who
have collaborated for the first time on this reissue. Photo on cover by
legendary Beth Lesser. Stanley "Barnabas" Bryan did not live to see
the release of his album. He passed away while working on the reissue on
August 18, 2025, at the age of 65. Thus, the reissue of The Cold Crusher
unexpectedly became his musical legacy. The edition is limited and will sell

Kaden returns to Rekids with ‘Fyutr’, following his previous four releases on
the label and once again linking up with DJ, producer, and vocalist Zoë
Xenia, who also featured on his 2022 ‘Blackbird’ EP on the label. Set for
release on 27th February 2026, the single offers an early glimpse into
Kaden’s forthcoming album on Radio Slave’s flagship imprint, and comes with a
remix from New York House legend, Dennis Ferrer. A slow-burner with real
progression, Mathias Kaden’s ‘Fyutr’ unfolds as a mind-melting journey. Dub
chords creep in gently before stretching and mutating, while Zoë Xenia’s
spoken-word vocal drifts through the mix, and sweeping strings give it a
deep, timeless feel. The single is complemented by a remix from Dennis
Ferrer, who flips the original into a beefy, pared-back House cut, warping
Xenia’s vocals and locking into a rolling groove before resolving in lush
chord work. Active since the mid-90s, Kaden first appeared on Rekids in 2019
and has since built a wide-ranging catalogue across labels such as Cocoon and
Vakant, alongside remix work for DJ Koze, KiNK, Monika Kruse, and Trentemøller.
‘Fyutr’ marks his fifth release on the label, following last year’s ‘Freedom’
