First
rising to global acclaim in the latter half of the dubstep era with 'Ruins
Tape', veteran St. Petersburg producer Nocow has fluidly moved across styles
in the years since. Moving in a new direction from 2017s 'Ledyanoy Album',
which saw the producer channel 90s ambient techno/IDM for GOST ZVUK, these 17
new tracks, and collaborations for the label instead hone in on a vocal-heavy
type of ghostly R&B. As an album, Odinocow carries hints of trance, house
and polished electronica ('Blizhe') as well as raw broken beat hybrids
('Dengi Ne Sgorayut'), though the primary unifying factor is the voice. The
heavy use of autotune, downtempo arrangements and wistful, machine-distorted
human emotion are referenced in the album's title, which translates roughly
to lonely Nocow. Whilst past albums have oscillated between steady dance
structures and more wildly experimental arrangements, there is a recurring
theme of simplicity at play here. Nocow aims to craft memorable songs by
harmonising over contrasting ambient soundscapes, from glacial to warm,
through to trap/rnb and 4x4 dance-pop. With such an emphasis on exploring his
voice and his songwriting craft, Nocow injects a new level of soul and
integrity to his already well-established productions. Odinocow is a
departure from his past work in some ways, though is also an example of a
musician striving to reflect their truest vision of the self. "By
finding yourself, you become able to love yourself, and, as a result, the
world. So the album is really about love." |

Gost
Zvuk continue hot on the heels of their singular Roma Zuckerman 2xLP 'The
Phenomenon Of Provincial Mentality' with this second album proper by
like-minded Russian producer Dima Drozdov. Under the shadowy alias of Dx2ov,
on Interzona he plays with an array of fairground-like melodies, lo-fi house
motifs, buoyant space-age optimism and old-school UK breaks. Along with the
strong emphasis on melody, at the forefront of his style is a keen ear for
off-kilter, scattered percussion, with 'Voices' shining as a curious example
of polyrhythmic, synthetic metallophone meshing with gritty Roland rhythm box
styles. The album glides between these sharper moments and experiments with
gloopy, submerged aesthetics and Madlib-like phone call snippets ('OK') as
well as minimalist, Detroit-inspired funk on the microhouse-esque 'Loop' -
another highlight with its perfectly placed and skewed vocal lead. 'Agnostic
Title' runs close to 130bpm with a tight drum pattern reminiscent of the
excellent 'Gesicht Aus Diamant' by 100Records, a minimal gem from 2005.
Dima's track channels similar ecstatic synth propulsion, with what sounds
like a warped choral disintegration washing in and out of the stereo field.
More trippy vocal distortions all around! The influences run wide and deep
across Interzona, from beat tape hip-hop to US house/techno and library
music. The ambient closing cuts also tread a similar path at points to label
mate Flaty's AEM Rhythm Cascade & Dices collaboration. A well-placed

Hipshakers" series, featuring rockin' R&B and early soul from the
King and Federal catalogues. A compilation of tracks from 1953 to 1967 by
essential artists such as Little Willie John, The 5 Royales, Little Esther,
Wynonie Harris, Lula Reed, Freddy King. 20 terrific dance cuts selected by

The passage of three long years since we last met may have led you to worry
I'd abandoned my noble endeavor to unearth all of the mind-bending rhythm and
blues in the nearly bottomless King and Federal vaults. But fear not. To paraphrase
the immortal words of Titus Turner in 'Hold Your Loving', I'm gonna keep at
it till the meatballs bounce! I'm delighted to report that "Bossa Nova
And Grits" features some showstopping acts new to the R&B Hipshakers
series: There's 18-year-old Little Esther Phillips and her indelibly nasal
voice, which would make her a star for decades to come; her fierce,
piano-pounding fellow Texan Camille Howard, pushing 40 by the time she
growled "You mole, you!"; Los Angelenos The Lamplighters, led by a
young Thurston Harris (doin' sixty-what'd-they-say?!); the otherworldly
singer's singer Jimmy Scott, just before a sad 20-year lull in his recording
career that would be followed by a fresh round of well-deserved accolades in
the 1990s. And then there's our first dip into the oeuvre of guitar god Jimmy
Nolen, who would basically invent funk guitar playing a decade later as a
member of James Brown's band but is already wielding a pretty expressive
instrument in 'The Way You Do'. Some old favorites are back, too: It wouldn't
be a Hipshakers box, after all, without brilliant new entries from Little
Willie John, The 5 Royales, Hank Ballard & The Midnighters, Johnny Watson
and Freddy King - he in a rousing dance-floor duet with series stalwart Lula
Reed. Non-bouncing meatballs? We've got 'em. Slinky mambo beats? They're
here. Back-toback odes to vino? Yep. Wailing instrumentals? But of course.

Quartet
Records and StudioCanal present the premiere vinyl release of John Debney's
symphonic opus for the adventure classic CUTTHROAT ISLAND. Directed by Renny
Harlin and starring Geena Davis, Matthew Modine and Frank Langella, the movie
is a big-budget, swashbuckling throwback about Morgan Adams, a female pirate,
and her crew racing to find a hidden island containing a fabulous treasure
before her uncle, Dawg Brown. Along the way there are sword fights, chases,
storms at sea and all sorts of high adventure, all produced on an epic scale.
Keeping up with the massive visuals was composer John Debney (HOCUS POCUS,
WHITE FANG 2, LITTLE GIANTS, THE PASSION OF CHRIST) who led the London
Symphony Orchestra and the London Voices for the recording. Considered one of
the 90s best adventure scores, and one of Debney's most highly regarded
works, the original soundtrack program is now available for the first time in
a deluxe 2XLP set, produced by Neil S. Bulk, mixed by Mike Matessino and
mastered by Chris Malone. Pressed on 180 gram audiophile black vinyl and

Kenny and the Kasuals are an
American, Dallas-area garage rock band founded in 1962, whose records are
considered "among the most collectable LPs of the '60s" The band
was formed at Bryan Adams High School in Dallas, Texas, by Kenny Daniel, and
was managed by Mark Lee, who later opened Dallas- punk club, The Hot Klub. In
1967, their self-released single "Journey To Tyme" garnered some
national radio airplay, including the Number One spot in both Buffalo, New
York, and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and the Top Ten on Dallas station KLIF.
Prior to recording "Journey To Tyme", the band had released an
album titled "The IMPACT Sound of Kenny and the Kasuals Live At the
Studio Club"(although it was neither live nor recorded at the Studio
Club). Only 500 copies of this album were pressed, and nearly half of those
destroyed by Texas summer heat, but the remaining copies have become some of
the most sought/after vinyl records of the 1960s |

Brooklyn
Sway's 8th installment arrives from outside with more unexpected debuts and
riotous returns to form. Experienced Barcelonian Larry Lan's epic 10-minute
opener 'WTNG' is minimal goes post-punk, repurposing well-known, undisguised
lyrics into an aggressive take on early Perlon and explanation enough for his
recent album drop on Cadenza. BKS vets N/UM return with 'A Free Woman in
Queens' showing off a reduced side of their sound adjacent to mid-00s minimal
with plenty of character, its stripped intro giving way to a fuller,
dubbed-out second half, with the cheeky vocal and instrumental touches joined
by a swelling pad. Featuring spoken vox from Mari Blue and the debut of BKS
co-head Asha Jasz alongside DeWinter and Jay Prouty, 'Acid in Your Coffee'
takes the dirtier route, with layers of zapping electronics, an insistent
single-note acid bass, and synths drifting between tones and textures all
veering off like its vocals before eventually returning to center.
LA/Bucktown scallywag $coe brings it home with 'The Devil is a MF Liar', an
acid jam whose profanity-laced vocal samples don't require divine
intervention to decipher. Bookended by a pair of interludes, the first on the
power of repetition and the last in memoriam BK legend Big Sexy in his own
words, and again featuring striking artwork from notable NYC street artist
Fumero, BKS keeps that Sway from going astray |

Where do we start with 'Deep Inside'? Originally released in the golden NYC
House era of 1993, this 5 tracker literally smashed everything in sight. And
still does now! The epitome of an evergreen, all-time classic release.
Masters At Work Louie Vega and Kenny Dope were on a major roll in this era,
producing, remixing, dj-ing and everything in-between, these guys put in
ridiculous work. They are joined on this EP by a roll-call of names and
collaborators, Erick Morillo engineering the title track? Check. Maurice
Joshua on co-production duties? You got it. Vocals by Ms. Barbara tucker?
They're there. Killer, rock hard drums? Stacks of Soul? Masterfully chopped
up Disco samples? All present. Serious stuff. Sometimes a record just manages
to capture and distill the true essence of what this is all about and 'Deep

The 38th
Earwiggle release comes from one of our favourites, and a debutant on the
label, Serbian studio supremo Commissar Lag. The "Absolution EP"
finds Lag delivering his playful vision of techno, dipping into the past
while also pointing us to the future, all framed through an exquisite
production gleam. Dense, rolling rhythms reminiscent of early '00s Stockholm
techno, combined with a catchy repeating vocal sequence (one of Lag's
trademark techniques) and rising sirens, result in the monster opening title
track "Absolution". "Aim Without Mercy" is another club
destroyer - jabbing keys, broken jagged beats, and a series of rising
pressure points making it another winner. "The Blessed" meanwhile,
shifts the mood from mental to majestic, with interchanging leads and
reverb-drenched climaxes marking the big-room peak of the record. Rounding

Converse should be a household name in every heads abode. Hes been DJing live
with 3+ turntables since he was a teenager, always under the same name.
Unfathomably envious record collection. Your favorite DJs as well as very
likely your favorite DJ. Whether it is DJing or a live set, his presentation
is head-spinning, hard-edged but hypnotic. His avalanching drum programming
is as recognizable as Coltranes timbre. His records have been released on
Dark Entries, Fit Sound, Texas Recordings Underground, Tabernacle Records,
Immortal Sin, Acid Test, Feral Colony and Obsolete Future. Now Fixed Rhythms
presents a 2?12 pack of Bills characteristically bewildering excellence. The
first 12 has four cuts. Woozy, heavy, bombastic machine workout opener Stress
Test followed by the tension peaking sustainer ZoneZone on the A side. On the
B side, 770 brings us to a new place of plucky bass lines and
unconventionally tuned drum workouts, with lure me closing the first 12 with
flexing low-end, percussive stabs syncopated with heavy snaredrum riffing.
Where does this music come from? Although you hear the decades of Midwest
techno, jacking Chicago house, brain-tickling Warp Records cuts, and his
dizzying skills as a DJ in the brew, his sound is uniquely Bills. The second
12 peels back the curtain a bit more, as the C and D side are two extended
cuts from his live set at 2024s Jackie OBody Vol. 2 in Denton, Texas. We here
at the label were at that gig. Pure energy. Sexy distortion. Rhythms that
made you scream. After the set, the room erupted in a chant of BILL! BILL!

glances back at one of his most revered releases to date, the 2003 ‘Red

Tiësto, Marco Bailey, Dave Clarke and Mark Broom. Long regarded as a personal
milestone, the track now returns in renewed form on the artist’s own label as
MV08. This forthcoming EP revisits the original with fresh perspective,
featuring a powerful remix from Pig&Dan alongside a newly reworked
version by Dimitri Andreas and the artist himself, bridging the track’s
enduring legacy with a contemporary evolution. Pig&Dan take the reins
first, extracting fragments of the original version of ‘Red Alert’ and
reshaping them into a dub tinged, deep techno cut fuelled by circling synth
stabs, robust percussion, tension building atmospherics and a driving bottom
end. Following on is ‘Red Alert’ (Dimitri Andreas & End-jy 2026 Remix),
the pair lay down a deeper, more hypnotic and minimalist interpretation
courtesy of crisp, stripped-down drums and oscillating resonant synth
flutters underpinned by the original’s dark, dubby aesthetic. The original
version of ‘Red Alert’ opens the flip side, capturing the essence of the
underground at the turn of the millennium, the track fuses, gritty stabs with
organic percussive elements, hypnotic siren like synths and a subtly evolving
feel throughout. ‘Flexibeat’ then concludes the release, a composition that
veers into the realms of early Detroit techno and electro via an amalgamation
of twitchy synth pops, cinematic strings, saturated 808 drums and murky bass

K’Alexi
Shelby’s illustrious career has included releases on legendary labels such as
Trax, DJ International, and Transmat, as well as collaborations with
high-profile artists like Marshall Jefferson and Pet Shop Boys. But his
musical journey began at the young age of 12, when he befriended Ron Hardy
and Frankie Knuckles while frequenting the Music Box and Warehouse. In high
school, he began writing songs and honing his poetic craft. “I recognized I
had a gift to say what I was thinking. I would study Prince and Marvin Gaye,
figure out what they meant and put my spin on it. The power of the word. I
was writing love notes for all my boys in high school and making a killing. I
would know what to say and what they should do.” Dark Entries previously
reissued Shelby’s debut record, Essence of a Dream, which was recorded under
the name Risque III in 1987. Warehouse Trax follows with six tracks recorded
in Chicago between 1991 and 1994. The
material here has all the hallmarks of classic K’Alexi. Salsa-inflected
rhythms, emotive basslines, and hip-house vibes are displayed on tracks like
the high-octane “Jungle Line” or the low-key tearjerker “Protect and
Survive.” There are also some unexpected surprises in store. “Aaaah” comes
out of the gate swinging with hard-hitting beats and apocalyptic ravey vocal
pads evocative of the edgier material on Saber Records or Djax Up Beats, and
the surprisingly contemporary-sounding
“Klub Dred” delivers half-time dub with stuttering vocal samples.
Warehouse Trax comes in a retro-styled sleeve designed by Eloise Shir-Juen
Leigh. This is essential material for devotees of classic house sounds |

Mutant Volt emerges from the
depths of the underworld with Bona Vista, a six track EP built from
unreleased DAT recordings made during the early 90s. Drawn from a vast
archive, much of the material had been long forgotten, written at a time when
electronic music moved fast and rarely looked back. Mutant Volt is one of
several aliases used by Dan Piu, whose roots sit firmly in early European
rave and club culture. The name was originally used to explore a stripped,
machine driven sound shaped by early trance structures and bleep influence.
Aside from a single release on Superluminal in 2020, much of this material
has remained unheard. Recorded on a hardware setup that has changed little
since 1991, the tracks were made instinctively and left behind to gather
dust. Today the tracks carry a different kind of weight. What was once made
quickly and left behind now feels immediate, proof that some music does not
belong to the past, it simply arrives there first |

Music offshoot SAIBAI welcomes legendary producer ASC to expand upon the
label's widescreen strain of electronic music plumbing the depths between
techno, electronica and broken beat. ASC is the flagship project for James
Clements, a prolific veteran of the scene who started releasing his
distinctive twist on drum & bass back in the late 90s. Across a variety
of aliases and many different label projects and collaborations, Clements has
retained a strong artistic identity defined by steely atmospherics, rhythmic
intrigue and precisely sculpted sound design. He brings those qualities to
SAIBAI3. On 'Raijin' the tempo prowls at 90 BPM, all the better to carry the
bass snarls and haunted melodies hovering in the middle distance. 'Rasetsu'
meanwhile hides its much sprightlier 150 pace behind a half time construction
punctuated by a tactile, almost organic set of percussion. 'Kyubi' sinks into
a deep, inky well of spatial sound design with just a light smattering of
percussion and a weighty kick for guidance. 'Shigure' completes the picture
with a mesmeric tapestry of shifting textures and brooding melancholy.
Clements has devoted much time recently to his ambient output, and it shows
in the richness of the space he shapes around his needlepoint patterns, while
his roots in more propulsive club music show their hand in subtle,
understated ways. It's this balance that makes the release the perfect

Dasha Rush resurfaces on Sonic Groove, her fourth EP for the label and her
hardest offer yet! The Russian born, Berlin based producer drops four fierce
tracks decidedly for dancefloor use and abuse. Starting with some enticing
meticulous and exciting EBM flavored hard beats “El Kinky” seems poised to be
a summer Berlin classic, with Dasha’s haunting vox riding the groove. “Psycho
Runner” simply said, is an olympic, punishing piece of acid TB303 techno that
will be one of the darkest things recorded this year. Her B-sides take it a
little deeper, with the hypnotic, industrial and marching in-your-face
flavored sounds on “Gallic Message” and finally ‘Darkness Digital” which
presents an , EBM- esque groove, with wild broken hard beats patterned

an engrossing lattice of polyrhythmic beat science and deep atmospheric
meditation, Samurai Music is thrilled to welcome Marco Shuttle to the fold
for the Sumud EP. Since his early years locked into the 00s London techno
scene, Marco Sartorelli has developed as an artist entirely on his own terms.
Through the rush of new ideas and cross-pollination that has characterised
cutting-edge techno over the past 20-odd years, Sartorelli has travelled as
Marco Shuttle from one considered stylistic concept to the next. On his own
Eerie label and across expansive releases for respected outposts such as
Spazio Disponibile, Incensio and Astral Industries, he's taken an exploratory
approach to rhythm and spatial design while always drawing on intentional
thematic frameworks, creating distinctive and immersive dance music in the
process. As Samurai Music continues to celebrate the rich seams of
inspiration where deep techno and drum & bass intersect, Sartorelli's
malleable, mysterious strain of drum work fits right in and sets a
captivating tone for the label's operations in 2026. 'Sumud' is a steely drum
mantra dealing in fractured patterns with the primal patina of the early
Artificial Intelligence era, while 'Las Dunas de Taroa' leans on gently
pulsing melancholia undulating at a half-time pace. 'Iso 50' taps into raw,
analogue minimalism once more, evoking the sound of Roman Flugel's Ro70
records in their icy, alien formation. Completing the set, we're guided
towards the tense electronica of 'Polylayering What I've Got', where uneasy
melodic chimes interlock with intricately programmed drum machines. There's a
distinct sense of golden-era, mid-90s electronica coursing through Sumud EP,
but Sartorelli shrouds the classic tools at his disposal in his subtle
signature atmospherics, pushing towards a plain of expression that transcends
