Luigi
Madonna's record label, Contempo welcomes a raw and hypnotic techno EP from
Backbone. Backbone is a Portuguese producer who has been turning heads with
his driving style of techno with trippy sounds and fast-paced rhythms. He has
previously featured on labels such as Ed Davenport's Counterchange and
Nastia's NECHTO Records. Contempo is a record label that Luigi Madonna has
set up to express the underground side of his tastes, and along with his own
music the imprint's catalogue also includes tracks and remixes by the likes
of Alarico, Manuel Di Martino and Lobster. "Ceasefire" opens the
release with its slamming percussion and modulating synth line, before
"Twiddly Phases" takes control with hallucinogenic atmospherics
that create ominous intensity. "Just a Sunny Day" is third on the
release, and it's got a warped bassline layered with muffled vocals and a
pounding kick drum. "Ciphered Realities" is a stripped-back track
with eerie tension and fluttering melodies, then "Wanksta Yard"
closes the release with breakbeat rhythms and a menacing bassline |

- 'Breathe The Machine' is the first installment of Dojostudio and presents a
musical world rich in harmonics, low frequency and melodic impact, yet with
enough space in between to allow that perfect breathing room essential for
powerful dance cuts. 'Breathe The Machine' portrays a world that initially
feels robotic, yet instills an organic fluidity known only to come from
humanoid beings, breathing life into a system littered with code and
coldness. Billy Dalessandro presents 3 original cuts, plus a rendition of the
title track by Mike Shannon. Both for 'Breathe The Machine' and 'Tractor
Beam' the Waldorf Microwave XT 2 and the Jomox 888 were the primary sound
sources. For 'Breathe The Machine' the 888 was processed through a Jomox
T-Resonator, which added harmonic distortion, and also spread the stereo
spectrum out a bit offering the drums a more washed-out feel. The XT was
layered track by track by performing patterns live into an editor until the
desired ideas were properly recorded. Mike Shannon was brought on board to
offer a contrasting expression of 'Breathe The Machine' and when asked how
the process went he stated: "I took the source sounds, edited them and
processed them to work with a groove I had written for this remix. I mainly
used the pad, lead synth and synth effects from the original. The rest of the
gold I engineered." On 'Tractor Beam', subtle use shows that ample space
in between ideas make things seem larger than life. By allowing a more
minimal approach in the production process the sounds can easily co-exist,
allowing for that 'big room' sound without overwhelming the overall
experience. The digital exclusive 'Deliverance' was created using NI's
Maschine for the drums, and FM8 and Reaktor were the sources of the synths.
Drum patterns were created in Maschine and then recorded in realtime back
into the DAW as it played, with real-time tweaking of the hi-hat to create
the desired impact, especially at the break. The synth and pad patterns were
recorded as MIDI into the editor, and then automation of the synths' VCF
rounded out the expression needed to complete the emotional process. All in
all, DOJ001 is mostly an all-hardware showdown, with 'Deliverance' being the
only 'virtual' attempt. Life is in nature, not in machines, yet the
culmination of the two worlds can be beautiful, if only properly tamed and

Planet Rhythm is gearing up for the second effort in their
PRRUKBLK series. Both Moerbeck and Fanon Flowers have come up with 2 gritty
peak-time anthems made out of heavy drum-action, distortion and hazardous
percussion. Moerbeck's A-Side is a ferm combination of granular synthesis and
vigorous drums. Where "Black Hand" recalls memories of graveyard
shifts in soviet coal mines, the A2 track Mode evokes up a more tripped out
state of mind. Fanon Flowers lays down a more ominous ambiance for his B1
track that has the more than suitable title "Vultures Circling Part
3". Closing down the B side we find "Vultures Circling Part 1"
which carries that same threatening vibe but with even more energy due to the
use of abundant percussion |

with all-new equipment, Crimson Dawn marks the first time Sadomancer and
Sergeant Salsten played guitar on each other's songs; prior to this record,
the two would exclusively play guitar on the songs they each wrote. As a
result, it all sounds like DEATHHAMMER but most definitely a more dynamic
one, rendered all the more powerfully with their best drum production to
date. The album was mixed by fellow maniac Arild M. Torp (NEKROMANTHEON /
Abhorration) - "It sounds just as violent as we hoped for," says
Sadomancer - and he even rips a guest solo on "Legacy of Pain."
Other guests include Bowel Ripper of Impugner with a nasty solo on
"Stygian Lust," a track that has riffs dating back almost 20 years.
Above all, Crimson Dawn once again proves that DEATHHAMMER are able to play
666-megaton metal but skillfully show a variety of sides to it, from
ultra-violent ragers to mid-tempo gallops to even "epic shit," such
as the truly-titled climactic closer "Into the Blackness of Hell."

California bred Brendan Sepe, are a "magic school bus"-esque

Our
previous remix-EP of Ness' classic album "Flesh Of The Gods" was,
for various reasons, a long and slow process. When Ness himself suggested us
to ask Vladw for a contribution we finally had a good reason to reach out to
a long time favorite @ the Navigare HQ. Although located, literally, on the
other side of the planet, his deep, driving and breezy productions ring true
to our, slightly northern, musical vision. So we are not surprised that his
excellent remix of "Transilient" is, already, one of the most
celebrated tracks in our half decade long history. We asked for more, and
finally we are able to present three brand new originals, seeded, watered and
harvested with a Navigarean intent. Three highly functional pieces, aimed at
focused dancefloors underneath open skies, balancing the beautiful and lush
with the edgy and slightly twisted. Although being our first ever
collaboration, any Navigare listener would understand that Luigi Tozzi has
played a huge role for us on our path. Since his first releases with Hypnus
we've listened carefully, on repeat, for a dozen years by now. A guiding
light for our scene, always curious, always pioneering, yet always on point.
His remix of "Drya" takes the harmonix of the original, adds a
monstrous bassline and - trust us on this one - that massive clap will cause

In Patterns welcomes Amsterdam-based live act and producer VNTM for his debut
appearance on the label with "Ostbahn", a five-track EP arriving on
vinyl and digital formats on 24 July 2026. For VNTM, Ostbahn marks a
departure from his usual creative process. While most of his productions are
conceived and developed within the familiarity of his studio, every track on
this release originated elsewhere - each one tied to a specific place,
encounter, or moment beyond its walls. These external sparks became the
foundation for a collection that feels both deeply personal and unmistakably
geared towards the dance floor. Across the EP, VNTM explores the intersection
of emotional depth and physical intensity. Dark, immersive pads and
melancholic atmospheres are woven into powerful techno frameworks, driven by
heavy low frequencies, tightly locked grooves, and a precise sense of
movement. The result is a body of work that balances introspection with
impact, equally suited to peak-time systems and solitary listening. Based in
Amsterdam, VNTM has established himself as one of techno's most distinctive
live performers, appearing at major festivals and clubs worldwide with a
hardware-focused setup dedicated entirely to his own productions. His sound
combines harmonic exploration and narrative-driven composition with distorted
percussion, futuristic sound design, and a constant embrace of emerging
synthesizer technologies. Beyond his performances, VNTM is the driving force
behind the acclaimed Mindscape events at Amsterdam's Lofi, where he has
hosted artists including Len Faki, Kangding Ray, Sterac, Ame, Recondite,
Polygonia, Luigi Tozzi, Vril, and JakoJako. Recent highlights include his
debut on the Awakenings Festival Mainstage, an all-night-long live set at
Lofi Amsterdam, and a sold-out debut performance at Refuge in New York City.

an age that demands hyper acceleration, kinetic flashes and byte voracity,
Blak Saagan sticks out like a sore thumb with a sprawling body of work that
requires attention and unlocks profound symbols and meaning with every
passage. After a 5 year gap, the Venetian composer returns with his most
personal and openly political statement yet, ‘Un Sequestro Lungo 10.000
Anni’, a staggering 108 minute triple album soundtracking a dystopian city
through flashes of futuristic fourth world visions, warehouse 80s rave-ups,
meditative trance and dark rumblings. Following his acclaimed ‘Se Ci Fosse La
Luce Sarebbe Bellissimo’ was never going to be an easy feat but Samuele
Gottardello (Blak Saagan) approached the fresh canvas with a renewed sense of
commitment sparking a dense parallel world inhabited by paranoia, control and
repression. A world that is relieved by the figure of a woman with the body
of a bird emerging from the asphalt and freeing humanity from the “sequestro”
(kidnapping) to which it has long been subjected. Dystopia pushed to the
limits and sadly close to our current affairs. Stemming from a collaboration
with Iranian illustrator Majid Bita, ‘Un Sequestro Lungo 10.000 Anni’
narrates a city populated with imaginary creatures bustling to the rhythms of
Iranian punk, rebels with mullets sweating through Middle Eastern
hallucinatory disco beats, propaganda VHS tapes and Saagan’s usual
atmospheric celestiality built on library music, kosmische architectures and
industrial serenity. Referencing the ecosystem that Marija Gimbutas and
Philip K. Dick handed down to us, Blak Saagan’s music threads the needle
hypnotically moving from Carpenter synth worship, the anxiogenic
cyber-pulsating ‘The Blak Fire’ or the persian EDM of ‘Idoli Rotti fatti di
Paura ed Oro’, to metaphysical experimentations that recall the work of
legendary Italian sound architects Egisto Macchi and Nora Orlandi, the
bouncing astral esoteric ‘La Dama con il Corpo di Uccello’ and the spiritual
cadence of ‘Mila nel bosco’. The authoritarian climax of the album is fully
delivered on tracks like ‘Il Giorno di Zaha'kol’ and ‘Daeva - Falso Dio’
where pounding severity reaches the textural punishment of heavy-hitters like
Godflesh and Ramleh, industrial malaise for the masses. ‘Un Sequestro Lungo
10.000 Anni’ is also the first Blak Saagan album to feature vocal
contributions, heightening the cinematic experience and carrying it
spiritually. Ambient-folk goddess Julinko brings an elysian quality to ‘Il
Giorno di Zaha'kol’, the submerged vocals of techno producer Annalisa Iembo
(Jerome) are printed on the drugged out coldwave hit ‘Benzocrazia’, Italian
illustrator Liz Van Der Nüll posse-raps on the synth-punk siren blaring
‘FRREPa’ while cosmic loner James Jonathan Clancy ethereally closes ‘Idoli
Rotti fatti di Paura ed Oro’. ‘Un Sequestro Lungo 10.000 Anni’ plays like a
puzzle where every piece eerily discloses a historical metaphor, a
captivating voyage where Blak Saagan’s time machine crosses 10,000 years of
patriarchy, monotheism, colonialism and capitalism, denouncing a cruel
present, while remembering a gloomy past. Some might call it conscious
escapism or spiritual socialism, some might see it as evoking a new realm and
some might hail , a path trailblazed by outsiders like David Sylvian,
Muslimgauze and Chrome… painting a black horizon from which, perhaps, hope
can still emerge. “Un Sequestro Lungo 10.000 Anni” is the second release of
Opale, a series curated by Maple Death and publishing house Canicola
Edizioni, sister imprints that for last decade have been exploring and

such as Claude François, Manu Dibango, and Miriam Makeba. In 2020 he renewed
his status as hitmaker through his work with Disclosure on the revised
version of his single Tondoho Mba. In 1996, he became traditional chief of
Lobé (usually reffered to as 'Chef Traditionnel') . Currently he still
remains active both as an artist and traditional chief in Lobé. Balancing
tradition and music, his majesty Eko Roosevelt Louis remains deeply committed
to both his community and his art. The reissue of Phone Me Tonight / Lobé Mon
Ami marks a renewed chapter in sharing his rich musical legacy, and his musical
future with the world. This deluxe reissue comes complete with a printed
inner sleeve, exclusive bonus tracks available only to vinyl purchasers, and
a special zine featuring rare, previously unpublished photographs of Eko
Roosevelt at work in his studio, as well as unique images documenting life in
the community of Lobé. For this 2026 reissue, Phone Me Tonight has been
carefully restored and remastered, breathing new life into Eko’s iconic
Yamaha DX7 synthlines. The track has been subtly tightened to the grid,
making it perfectly suited for contemporary dancefloors & dj’s while
preserving its original spirit and charm. Lobé Mon Ami was written by Eko
Roosevelt in 1981 as a heartfelt tribute to his home village of Lobé,

marking an impressive label debut, Carmine Portarulo, aka The Southern, lands
on Mutual Rytm's sub-label Spectra with a powerful showcase of his much-loved
sound. With the lead track featuring as one of label head SHDW's most
requested IDs of the year so far, and packaged alongside outstanding remixes
by close label associates Alarico, Temudo and Sciahri, the EP comes having
established himself with a sound rooted in old school value and pure techno,
favouring energy and authenticity over hype. The track's backstory comes from
the moment Carmine and his partner found out they were expecting a child and
went for their first ultrasound appointment. Overwhelmed by the emotion of
the moment and the beauty of what nature is capable of, he returned home and
poured those feelings into the music. The result, 'Ultrasound', is an
anthemic, punchy techno cut with euphoric energy rising up through the synths
and its catchy lead melody. Joyful
melodies sparkle amid vocal groans, adding a raw emotional pull as the
warm, driving drums march on. Berlin-based artist Alarico is the first to

Constantly
pushing his studio craft into unexplored realms, Pugilist returns to Samurai
with a fresh clutch of innovative hybridised meditations transmitting from
upper tempos. The versatility in Alex Dickson's approach is proven by the
broad spectrum of labels he releases on - as comfortable shelling down for
Shall Not Fade as he is tearing out on Rupture London. As the Melbourne /
Naarm-based producer opens up the Triads EP with 'Rune', he hones in on a
dynamic fusion of insistent technoid propulsion and brooding bass snarls with
a mysterious portent. 'Pyre' swiftly turns up the percussive intensity with
bludgeoning kicks and whipcrack snares that evoke classic electronica as much
as D&B. For all the sharp attack of the drums, though, Dickson manages
his ingredients with ruthless restraint, creating a fierce kind of meditation
in the process. 'Woven' allows a rich variety of snaking synth lines to take
centre stage as we tunnel into the second half of the EP, relishing the space
for dynamic modulation and slowly evolving, cinematic pads that offer a
glacial foil to the twitchy pace of the snappier elements in the mix.
'Machiavellian' plays the consummate closer in its lead in, playing a patient
game in ritualistic drums before the herald of rave tropes rear up in some
pronounced, choppy snare science. Yet again, Dickson opts for a softer
approach where you might be expecting an explosive drop, allowing the
skittering drums to roll on until they become a mesmerising texture in the
track. In the end, it's an expert flourish demonstrating the energetic
possibilities that lie in the spaces beyond more obvious peaks and troughs.
Across four brilliantly original, highly advanced rollers, Pugilist nails the
balance between subtlety and impact and proves himself a worthy advocate for
the path less travelled |
