Zvuk prepare for a busy 2023 with an enthralling double LP's worth of
futurist sound design from Flaty. In the game for more than a decade now, the
producer, mastering engineer and all-round visionary artist has delivered an
impressive range of music across both his own ANWO imprint as well as for
West Mineral ltd., 12th Isle, Firecracker and more. Always content to subvert
expectations and blur stylistic lines, on Intuitive Word there is a clear
fascination with a spectral, whittled-down-to-its-core type of avant-pop/RNB
hybrid. Digital strings, dubbed beyond recognition semantic snatches,
re-imagined new age style synthesis and even flourishes of MMORPG computer
game soundtracks all combine into something that feels uniquely Flaty. In a
sense, Intuitive Word marries ambient sound collage and hyperreal,
narrative-style vocal processing. However, glimmers of shoegaze and old
'ethereal' bands (think Harold Budd & Cocteau Twins) crop up on tracks
like 'Tree' and 'Nepal Lit', a testament to Flaty's skill for world-building
and atmospherics. Across the 19 cuts there is a recurring theme of choral
style, computer generated elegies. A kind of 'cristal trance', in their
words. 'Mint' combines these with overtly RNB style vocal samples, whereas
darker, more broken beat soundscapes can be heard on the Madteo collab
'Observer'. With plenty of sombre and cinematic style ventures such as 'NEWS'
breaking up the album and eschewing this focus on vocals, we find one of the
most consistent producers in the current Russian scene delivering what may
well be his most accomplished collection yet |

Embarking
on our musical journey with Wiremu, originally from New Zealand and now based
in Leeds, we set sail with his EP, "The Subtle Hustle." Beyond a
personal passion, Wiremu's dedication to music production serves as a tribute
to his Maori heritage, infusing his compositions with profound cultural
depth. "The Subtle Hustle," the opening track, forges a dynamic
tone with deep bass, punchy percussion, and house-infused Rhodes chords.
Minimal references and synthetic rips seamlessly fuse, creating a captivating
dance track. "Beat-Up Town," the second track on the A side, is a
dance floor blockbuster with bouncy bass, accompanied by an 808 kick drum.
Keyboard work integrates chords into a dynamic groove, making it stand out

"Dance With Me" was the
first album by Long Beach punk band T.S.O.L. (True Sounds of Liberty).
Originally released on Frontier Records in 1981. Dance With Me saw the band
move away from the hardcore punk roots of their debut EP released earlier in
the year and the music became more melodic and goth-tinged as did the lyrics.
The album was recorded by Thom Wilson (Dead Kennedys, Bad Religion, The
Offspring) and the cover featured paintings by Mark Wassman and photos by
Glen E. Friedman |

Spanish punk bands with 1 extra bonus track from the first time this was
reissued in 2014. This is one of my all time favorite recordings, and simply
one of the best 80s recordings that should have been a record, but never was.
Truly the pinnacle of crude, depraved freak punk with a filthy and violent
goth undercurrent. These aren't your pretty dance night goth punks, more like
outcast speed injecting criminal goth punks disgusted with every aspect of
society, sneering and spitting at you while cleaning under their fingernails
with a switch blade as you pass by on the street. Real outsider music that
the world, even the punk one, was not ready for in 1983. Highest possible

continues the X-Series on CEP Records with a four track release by Elyas. As
a long standing figure in the international techno scene, he has built a
strong name through many years of dedication. Known for releases on labels
such as Soma Records and Player, Elyas stands for raw and uncompromising
techno with influences from ghetto and acid. Alongside vinyl and digital
releases, he also runs two own labels and continues to shape the scene with a
clear and functional sound. A1 'Cabale' and A2 'Bop Gun' move in a similar
direction. Bouncy kicks meet acid lines and atmospheric pads that give both
tracks a deep and driving feeling. Straight forward 4 to the floor techno for
sweaty warehouse mornings. Small twists, rough transitions and unexpected moments
keep the tracks moving from start to finish. On the B side, 'Gimme The Loot'
and 'Ghetto Sneak Assault' bring a strong ghetto influence. Playful
arrangements, raw vocals and sharp one shots create a loose but powerful
groove. The tracks feel direct and slightly chaotic in the best way, while
still keeping full control |

Slither by Connor Wall expands into a more trippy, forward-facing space,

Artificial
Go’s new 7” for Carpark Records signals the next chapter in the band’s
gentle-but-rapid evolution. The Cincinnati-based rock ‘n’ roll combo dials in
to their distinct sound while opening the doors wide to newness. In just two
songs, they share joyous expression, frustrated anger, and curious
exploration. The 7” follows two beloved albums and loads of talked-about
touring. The excitement is easy to connect with as 7” A-side “Triple Ones”
spools out its coiled, bouncy lead guitar with a bass part worth following
through the kitchen conga line and into the living room dancefloor. On the
flipside, “Jane Ate The Apple Seed” provides a mysterious atmosphere and
chorus of unusual trance. The band’s live configuration is often so: lead
vocalist Angie Willcutt, drummer Cole G Patrick, guitarist Ryan Sennett, and
bassist Micah Wu. But on record, the members swap instruments and play
whatever part necessary. For example, Sennett is drumming on “Jane Ate The
Apple Seed,” with Patrick playing guitar, Wu on bass, and Willcutt playing an
autoharp with a bow. While the music is undeniably fun and mesmerizing, lead
singer Angie Willcutt’s lyrics center serious matters. The story told in
“Triple Ones” refers to a person undercut by those running the show. Willcutt
calls it “the most blatantly upset Artificial Go song.” “Explain to me your
delusional behavior,” she sings. “The world dealt me the cards of
presumption/ I’ll play them right and use it to my advantage.” It might be
groovy music, but Willcutt says, “When writing that song, I was just pissed
off.” Three of the bandmates live in the same house in Cincinnati. They
practice in the basement, record in the [haunted] attic, and live in between.
“Jane Ate The Apple Seed” started as a jam in that basement. The landlord
came over to do maintenance and stayed to watch the jam become a song. Its
lyrics tell the hidden story behind a well-known tale: “Jane ate the apple
seed/ Johnny nowhere to be seen.” |

Agenda EP, Tom Carruthers closes a landmark trilogy on Skylax Records,
following Neutralise EP and Deepline. Three records. Fifteen tracks. One
coherent vision of machine-driven house music stripped to its raw, functional
core. This final chapter dives deeper into direct, club-focused energy, where
groove, repetition and tension do the talking. Agenda is less reflective,
more physical — built for movement, sweat, and long transitions in dark
rooms. Opening track “Chrome” sets the tone: sharp drum programming, metallic
pressure, and looping synth phrases that lock the body into motion. “Agenda
(Raw Mix)” follows with a tougher, stripped-down approach — no excess, just
pure rhythmic insistence rooted in early Chicago jack and warehouse
discipline. “Beat Down” pushes further into machine funk territory, where
relentless patterns and rugged textures meet in hypnotic repetition. On the
flip, “Fade Away” brings a deeper, moodier tension — a late-night track where
subtle emotion seeps through minimal structures. Closing cut “What You Want”
is classic Carruthers: jacking drums, understated melody, and a groove that
feels timeless rather than retro. As with the previous releases, the visual
identity is handled by H5, whose modernist, reduced artwork mirrors the sonic
philosophy: clarity, impact, and purpose. Agenda EP completes the Skylax

"There
are records that move between genres and records that dissolve them into
something with no clean name. Tomb is the second kind. Eight tracks from
Maltese producer OS 1R 1S, where Detroit electro, dub and braindance are
pulled through a sonic elixir, so specific, that the genre tags become a
formality. As Digital Empathy's third outing, Tomb, cements the label's
'sinister futurism' ethos in its sharpest form yet. The lore is its own
document: a Dantesque collapse, a young Malassian psyche fractured by events
on Terra, a landscape where all water has been replaced by coke. An angelic
Unipolan risks immortality to pass one message through - 'all axioms are
false in this system'. 'RIP' opens with illbient dread of early Actress, 'St.
Peter' pulls a Drexciyan chassis under metres of dub, 'False Axioms'
time-shifts in a thematic unresolved structure, and 'Misplaced Prayer', a
floor-track with enough mid-range distortion that can hallucinate spiral
engravings. That OS 1R 1S originates from Malta, home to the oldest standing
stone structures on earth, sits exactly right in the record's ritualistic
undertones. For heads of the negative space of Stingray, the unnerving
melodies of Terrence Dixon, but none of the comfort of knowing exactly where
you are." |

returns to Crosstown Rebels with his introspective three-tracker, ‘Cicek’ EP.
Out on 3rd July 2026, the young producer delivers a deeply personal
excursion, featuring Mahmut Orhan, exploring themes of identity,
independence, and creative freedom. Few artists have arrived on the
electronic scene quite like KinAhau. First entering the spotlight through a
chance encounter that led to his breakout collaboration with Solid Grooves
founder Michael Bibi, the exciting DJ/producer quickly found himself moving
through some of the world's most respected clubs and festivals. Yet while
early attention centred on an unlikely origin story, the years since have
revealed a more nuanced artistic voice, one increasingly focused on
reflection rather than reaction, and expression rather than expectation. That
perspective sits at the heart of his return to Damian Lazarus’ Crosstown
Rebels imprint as he lands on the label with his latest EP, ‘Cicek’. Opening
title track ‘Cicek’, created alongside Mahmut Orhan, unfolds through emotive
melodies, organic textures, and a sense of quiet tension that feels
deliberately removed from conventional club formulas. It's a record that
prioritises atmosphere and feeling over immediacy, setting the tone for the
wider release. Across the EP, that idea takes different forms, shapes and
directions. ‘Plane Jane leans’ is a stripped-back, hazy journey through
vibrant keys and woozy textures, while ‘Danza De La Pau’ flips the script and
tunnels into trippy, ping-pong synths, cascading tones and off -kilter
pockets of sound. Together, the three tracks feel less like individual
records and more like snapshots from a broader creative conversation, one
shaped by a growing distance from formula and a desire to explore something
more personal and unique |

Edgar
debuts on Dark Entries with Pavor, an 11 track LP of sleazy disco, warped
synthpop, and gothic cumbia. Veteran musician Luis Gutierrez has spent the
past two decades touring in bands, running Lalalandia Studio, and building
his practice in Oakland and Guadalajara. But now, for his first solo outing,
he has become Edgar, a pop star who knows no limits! “Edgar feels mightier
than anyone but is always reduced to his vices” says Gutierrez, and Pavor
delivers vices in spades. From the opening salvos of “Otra Agua,” it’s clear
we’re in for a wild ride: seasick synths slide along slamming disco beats,
menacingly chanted vocals sit amid a flurry of careening horror movie
samples. The mischief does not abate as we’re guided through a demented
funhouse of genre detournements. Edgar puts his indelible fingerprints over
every inch of this vinyl, from uptempo numbers like the spooky chip-tune
frenzy of “Nunca Mas” to the twisted cumbia of “Panteon.” We’re even treated
to a fairly faithful (and majestic) Spanish-language cover of Amanda Lear’s
“Follow Me,” here titled “Sigueme.” EBM, space disco, and horror movie
soundtracks all find their way into the mix on Pavor, but the diverse palette
comes together perfectly, like a Yello album for the 21st century. Pavor
comes housed in a sleeve designed by Eloise Shir-Juen Leigh and features a
photograph by Izaak Schlossman. Also included is an insert with lyrics and
notes. On Pavor, Edgar brings us a healthy dose of pure excess, reminding us
that dread can be a hell of a lot of fun |

Egyptian-born, Barcelona-based
Raxon makes his Lone Romantic debut with a two-tracker that sees him step
decisively into breakbeat territory. A DJ for over 20 years, Raxon's journey
through sound took him from the late 90s rock, hip-hop and trance of his
early teens through to the Barcelona scene where he began releasing music
with some of the most respected labels in dance music — Kompakt, Ellum,
Cocoon and Turbo Recordings among them. Heads will move on 'Vision Mission' -
low-slung and deliberate with gated breaks cut sharp into a two-step swing
that carries a distinctly UK sensibility, and underpinned by a gritty,
warping bassline and a twisted vocal coiling through like a live wire. 'Wrong
Song' shifts the weight forward into physical, modern drum and bass terrain.
A deep and relentless, undulating bassline drives the momentum while
mechanical stabs and a grinding mid-range give the track its industrial edge |

Quiet
Village drop a version of Barry Reynolds' 'Till The Doctor Gets Back' with a
remix from Mad Professor. The duo's latest release for their eponymous
imprint is a love letter to the early-80s sound of Island Records. Joel
Martin and Matt 'Radio Slave' Edwards' Quiet Village project is back on their
The Quiet Village imprint on July 10th with 'Till The Doctor Gets Back', a
characteristically spaced-out cover of Barry Reynolds which features their
first ever commissioned remix, having tapped Mad Professor. Recorded in 2024,
Quiet Village's 'Till The Doctor Gets Back' evokes the spirit of the 1982
original, a release born out of a period when reggae, dub, pop, rock and
dance music were colliding. QV's version is exactly what the duo have been
known for since their beginnings in 2005; unhurried, immersive and utterly
compelling. With reverb and delays firmly on the 'dub' bus, the track is shot
through rich synths, glorious overlapping melodies and a fresh vocal
interpretation. Mad Professor's dub slow burns, doubles down on the dub
aesthetics and embraces the source material wholly, resulting in a cosseting
yet invigorating listen |

Shure debuts on Rekids with the ‘Belinda’ EP. The Berlin-based DJ and
producer is joined by Deer Jade for one of its three tracks. Berlin’s Sam
Shure arrives on Rekids 3rd July 2026 with the ‘Belinda’ EP, a three-tracker
including a collaboration with Swiss French DJ and producer and I AM YOU
label boss Deer Jade. Since his debut release in 2016, Shure has been backed
by a long list of supporters, including Pete Tong and Âme, racking up over 66
million streams via music on the likes of HABITAT and Cercle, as well as
releasing Tomorrowland’s CORE label’s best-selling track. Sam Shure’s
‘Belinda’ EP opens with the title track, where a robust, organic rhythm
playfully underpins the fidgety, bit crushed sounds and stabs above, all
while the titular vocal is evenly dotted throughout the arrangement. Shure
then teams up with Innervisions, Diynamic and Kompakt artist Deer Jade for
the aptly named ‘String Theory’, a strong and steady groove shot through with
uplifting strings and synth work. Closing the offering, Sam Shure returns

Berlin's
Phil Berg, one of techno's most distinctive rising names, debuts on Mutual
Rytm with his 'Darin' EP. First invited as the debut guest DJ for Mutual
Rytm's inaugural label night back in 2022, Berlin's Phil Berg has maintained
a close relationship with the imprint ever since. Known for his shadowy,
immersive sound, Berg has carved out a singular position within the scene -
equally respected for his high-impact DJ sets, his improvisational live
performances, and a production style defined by clarity, tension, and a
deeply recognisable sonic identity. While his live shows remain a vital part
of his artistic DNA, often shaping the raw ideas that later evolve in the
studio, his work extends far beyond the club floor, marking him out as a
fully formed and increasingly essential voice in contemporary techno. That
connection between stage and studio is fully realised on 'D?rin', where Berg
delivers a darker, more driving statement for his Mutual Rytm debut, with the
title track already becoming a standout in the sets of label founder SHDW.
The title cut opens the EP with great urgency, as flaming drums and
machine-gun synths are fired across the night sky, with sensuous whispers and
sonar pulses adding the pull of the groove. Next, 'Tempest' brings big,
banging hits, nailing down the kicks while rising tension appears through the
backlit synths and distant bass rumbles. 'Tanoo' releases the pressure with a
more luminous synth line that locks you in a trance as linear drums race on,
while 'Mephisto' keeps you on edge with twitchy motifs and a burrowing
bassline that drills down deep into a moody underworld. The EP closes with
'Destiny Bond', which rises with undulating, tactile lines, sleek synth
smears, and a cosmic sense of travel. As digital bonus cuts, 'Seiko' and
'Nyx' bring anxiety and foreboding to the fore with two more muscular and
physical deep techno hitters crafted for maximum impact |
