Entitas,
is the second instalment of Jay Clarke's BLACKAXON imprint, and sees the
label boss bring out the big guns in the form of three distinct and diverse
cuts. First up is Entity, an autonomic monster which has sweat soaked energy
written all over it. It's auspiciously one part deep, and more than double
just as twisted. Things are far from linear with Entity, it's mercilessly the
sum of it's own parts, and has the hallmarks of a true big room pleaser
written all over it. A truly authentic demonstration of the old adage 'It's
not where you are going, it's how you get there'. Entity is certain to be
reached for by all of the major players on the Techno circuit for a long time
to come. On the flip, Ghosts Of Acid is the Yin to Entity's Yang. A plangent
and introspective groove opens up with wispy cymbals, cleverly placed rims,
hats and claps. Exploratory and evolving subaqueous acidic forays dare the
listener to dive in a little deeper, with the reward being a very proficient
and efficient take on the now classic Acid sound. Existence Through Perception seeks to carry
on where the previous two tracks left off |

The Mote Evolver debut of
Amsterdam-based producer Jeff Rushin fits into the label catalog with an
uncanny ease: much like his ME labelmates, Rushin is an artist who has the
cool confidence and patience to let ideas slowly simmer, and knows that this
simmering process is essential for his distinct sonic seasonings to truly and
positively affect the body and mind. Rushin's deft programming and arranging
skill places him comfortably into a new school of producers: those who can
project original atmospheres and emotional nuances without straying too far
from a classic palette of techno sounds; and who release tracks of impressive
depth without caring too much about "impressing." The opening track on A Figment Of His
Imagination, "Coda," is an audio nightfall that illusrates all of
the above. A flawlessly executed demonstration of anticipation building: a
shivering sequence slowly creeps into the listener's headspace, recedes, and
returns again accompanied with sharp claps and huge subterranean kicks |

Gary Martin releases his second
sequential EP on Motech Records, the 'This is It' EP. The Ep features two
more exclusive tracks, 'This is It' a driving composition accented with piano
and synth patterns and subtle funky movement, and 'Galaxy Style' a percussive,
building composition expertly laced with muted samples and synth
progressions. Included on this EP are
two remixes from techno veterans Mark Broom and Rolando. Broom takes on 'This
is It' chopping the original into a hyper dance floor drubbing burner.

“Unwise
Remix Series” has the involvement of artists which represent Synthek &
Audiolouis main points of reference and inspiration, artists who acknowledged
the potential of Unwise and accepted to get involved the remix project. The
second installment of Unwise Remix Series features a strong combination of
techno figures that delivered, as expected, amazing reinterpretations of the
originals. Kwartz opens the release with a devastating rework of the techno
train ‘Counterbalance’, a broken beat weapon designed to make speakers sweat.
Fabrizio Lapiana remixes ‘Over The Edge’ loading the atmosphere of drones and
swirling bleeps, placed on strong hypnotic drums layers. Antigone on the flip
side gives a new vision of the track ‘Something Else’ leaving behind the
detroitish style of the original cut to approach a fairy world, where bright
andmelancholic sounds are partnering with a thin beats which dissipates every
now and then. Varg close the record with a noisy rework of ‘Overcast’,
bringing it down with heavily distorted drums, reverbered drones and terrific
atmospheres |

Muscle
and Mind is the return of Oscar Mulero to long plays, after Grey fades to
Green and Black Propaganda. 'Muscle' and 'mind' may seem antagonistic terms
in real life, but in terms of music they make sense together, especially when
talking about techno. The coalition of introspection and abstraction is not
incompatible with the rough and the percussive, and this album is a good
example of this. The underlying message behind the title refers to the
reflection of mental states in the body, the genesis of emotions where body
and mind are managed by the sense of hearing. Throughout these twelve tracks,
one can dive into the musical world of this producer whose discourse mutates
in every album, always intricate, always meticulous. Darkness acts as a thread
and repetition as hypnotic therapy. But now, he sets his usual hard sound
aside and looks for a much more cared for and precise sound , where there is
room even for a harmony and musicality that go hand in hand with
danceability. The combination of atmospheres and rhythms is constant
throughout the album |

purveyors of early Rave sounds with a serious dose of talent and nostalgia,
Minimum Syndicat would logically team up with head honcho Um-welt to deliver
an outstanding split EP that will go down in ROD History! On A side, Paris based combo drops an
authentic anthem of their trademark: "Antiworlds" mixes a fat
compressed techno kick to ravey strings while a sample taken from Moby's

SA015 is a split vinyl taken care
of by long term label artist, Pfirter, and by a new voice that’s been adding
to the SA story across the summer, Kangding Ray. Pfirter’s ‘Caos y Orden
Superior’ is a weighty odyssey spread across nine minutes. Its opening is
languid but somehow relentless as strange synthesised sounds are interrupted
by insistent beats. Across the arc of this track ‘chaos’ and ‘order’ lose
their static definitions, and played over a large club rig this has the
potential to throughly disorientate. From here Kangding Ray takes over duties
with ‘Wars’, a fragmented meditation on the darkest side of human nature.
Created from hues saturated by the pain of mistakes and regrets, it pulses,
rocking gently, swooning in and out. This stunning slice of electronic music
acts as a balm for the very wounds that conflict leaves behind |

Preternity’
is a vinyl that collects together four of the most dynamic artists in
electronic music delving into tracks from Dadub’s forthcoming album ‘You Are
Eternity’. Dadub’s album positions itself as part of an eternity which is
forever recurring and in this context Lucy, Lakker, Rrose and Kangding Ray’s
remixes emerge as parallel versions of the original tracks. Revolving around
the axis of ‘You Are Eternity’ the artists use analogue machines and digital
devices to either encode or decode Dadub’s vision. SA016 is preoccupied with
sounds that point to our most basic assumptions. It’s a collection of tracks
that are determined to ask questions even if they can’t really be answered.
All four artists selected the Dadub track that they wanted to remake, and
what has been pressed to vinyl are part instinctive reconfigurations and part
reflected rethinkings of that source material. This vinyl is a unique look at
the processes of four of electronic music’s most keen experimenters and a
moreish taste of what’s to come from Dadub’s debut album, ‘You Are Eternity’ |

election this EP continues the political stance of 'The Power And The Glory'

Circuit strives on with the second part to P.E.A.R.L.'s 'Desolation' EP
welcoming Francois X, Reeko, I/Y and Jeff Rushin to this series of remixes,
servicing the generation with every bit of expansive energy techno music has
to offer. Francois X's remix of 'In Space' architectures raw, artificial, and
flat-out production with gritty realism and brutal drum sequencing. Taking
the original and making it his own, externally imposing in on itself, this
peak time pattern leaves you energised and hectic. Reeko takes on the title
track 'Desolation', the result is plagued with atmosphere; stripping,
capturing and examines you before you have chance to do so to it. The tracks
estranged essence and amalgam of sound is immediately apparent. It has you
uncertain and poised for more, pulsating with darkness at every turn.I/Y's
'Reduction' reduces nothing of the sort, constantly fluxing between varying
percussion types of both hi and low energy. Considering nothing more than to
possess you with filter laden drum pads and a stark reality, IY have created
a hypnotic vision of creative compulsion that'll have you dance yourself
silly |
